4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun
This camera was all I expected and more. I was lookong for a PC camera to use for teleconfrencing and purchased this item because of its additional remote capabilities. It takes exellent snapshots outdoors and I have experienced no "low light" problems either on my computer or away. I have used it both on the soccer field and the golf course with exellent results. It has no zoom features so distant shots are not possible and the video clips are quite small. In terms of range, it does a good job of recording a golf swing but will not reach the middle of a soccer field to idenify individual players faces. It records great close up face shots with exellent color and brightness. The software which comes with it allows for picture "touch up" and is easy to use. This thing is small (fits in your pocket), easy to use, durable, and fun. The software is simple and has caused no problems with my Windows ME at all. The only improvement I would make in this product is to add a zoom lens. With manufacture's rebates you can buy the thing for well under $100.00. You'll love it. Buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars it was realy nice
2 weeks ago i purchased the intel digital camera with my friend after reading the customer review it's realy a helpful way, i found the camera very helpful and realy nice, the pics was in high quality resolution, it can take a good images at low light conditions, the movie is quite small but it's still helpful in some applications, but the drawback is the 10 seconds vedio, u cann't take the whole 2 min vedio in one file, the software is so wonderful , but i faced a strange problem, i didn't find the camera software in the suuplied CD, so i turned it back and get the right one, be sure to check the cd's come with the camera all i can say is it's great camera with a great price also, don't waste your time if u want to share pics with your family and friends

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Camera, worth every cent.
The Intel Pocket PC Camera is a great camera to own. I find the quality to be AMAZING. Sure it has no flash, but that's one thing i can live without seeing as to how i have ANOTHER camera with a flash that i use for backup. Anyhow, the CCD Sensor is probably the best thing about it. CMOS sensor cameras are usually [bad]and you can't see colors in shady areas (non-lit areas). The intel is very easy to operate and anybody could figure it out. The software is wonderful and the webcam is too. This whole camera is a great buy...the pictures will blow you away, just like it did to me. I have the rare black one so it looks less childish, heh. :o)

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy & Inexpensive Dual Camera!
what i needed was something simple, inexpensive but not cheaply made. i didn't really need megapixels because i post most of my photos on the web, so i prefer them to be a smaller size. the intel pocket pc camera fulfilled my needs.

this camera is a GREAT BUY if you want smaller images @ 640x480. it's compact and easy to take everywhere. downloading the pics is easy as a click away with its software. plus, it makes a great webcam so you can have video chats with friends on the 'net. also, webcam stills are very good quality!!

DO NOT BUY this camera if you want a camera that takes HQ images. there is no zoom and no flash, which is a setback because i can never take pictures at night. also, when objects are not in good lighting, images tend to be grainy and blurry. otherwise, images are usually sharp and clean during the day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sample pix - Intel Pocket PC digital camera
GREAT performance for the money. Don't expect professional results however - at least 1.3MPx digitals needed then. Perhaps however best view as a great tethered camera that, as a bonus, can go "walkabout" when needed. Nothing else noted (at the price) with such esteemed CCD sensors... el cheapo digitals usually are CMOS based that flare badly in uneven lighting. Minor negatives (pun !)include slight delay after pushing shutter ... sometimes leading to blurred images, only modest depth of field when used free ... seems optimised around 2m "portrait" distance, & occasional non clicking into place of the focus ring. Strong positives include HUGE pix. capacity (120+ shots), non volatile RAM ( nothing can get lost ), amazing battery life (still on original AAAs after 6 weeks )& outstanding software when tethered ( becomes USB powered & even allows time & motion triggered security shots /webcam etc). Macro features,(focuses to ~50mm = 2") when USB tethered to PC, are A1 & espec. useful for close ups of tiny electronic/ biology goodies etc. EDUCATORS- every such classroom should have one! Virtually up with Intel's blue "Play" USB PC microscope we also use in fact - that too is now going cheaply. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great camera, software needs some work
Short and sweet... This camera is great, hardware-wise. The image looks good, and the automatic light adjustment works well. Capturing video at 320x240 is smooth.

Installation is true plug and play. This camera is Microsoft WHQL logo'd and drivers are included with Windows ME and XP. No installation of the included software is necessary. If you have Windows 2000 you will need to download drivers from the Intel web site. This is a bad thing for people who actually want to use the included software, as it will not install or work in Window 2000, the downloadable drivers are bare bones. This is not so bad, as the included software is not too hot anyway, and netmeeting and windows movie maker or media encoder work great. Windows media encoder is a free download from Microsoft.

The camera is well priced and beats all the other cameras out there for OS support and quality. Yes, even the Intel Pocket Camera. Pick up this camera for a low price and there is also the rebate which makes it a steal. If you are even slightly considering getting a webcam, go for this one. You will put it to good use if you plan on running Windows XP in the near future, as the built in Windows Messenger software makes it really easy to have video chats with friends or family.

5-0 out of 5 stars After A Long Search, Perfect Cam
Well, I searched around a bit, and also took a look at friends cams in their homes and other friends output of their cams online.

The problem with most webcams is that they really are horrible, but since they are very inexpensive, many people get tricked into buyin the cheapest one, I mean, a cam is a cam right? Wrong.

Most cams offer poor lighting features, poor color, lousy picture, and their software is lame at best.

This cam worked immediately out of the box, has great software and within minutes, you can send a link to a friend and they can see you like that!

The software included, gives you the option to turn your PC into a video server, which in these days of broadband, is a great option.

You can also set up a motion detector feature, so that when you are away, if anything moves within the camera range it can do several things with the image. One, it can save the image(s) to disk, or email the picture to a selected email account, or upload it to a web page.

I found all of these options worked well, except the upload part. There was limited documentation on how this worked, but I tried it with a FrontPage website, no luck. Tried it via FTP, no luck. I did manage to get it to upload to an AOL web account (members AOL space) which is fine for my needs. I may have not set it up correctly for the other features, but it was fairly basic: FTP username, pass and location, so I am not sure how I could screw that up.

The camera adapts well to low light, and with a little tweaking, you could probably get a clear picture under candle light :)

I must say, I was very impressed with this product, and it just goes to show, that if you do enough research on your purchase, you have a great chance of being satisfied with it. The reviews for this cam, helped greatly in my final decision to purchase the cam.

A++

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for what it is designed for
the quality of this webcam is great with one of the best video outputs. I have tried it with yahoo and MSN messenger, and everyone says my video quality is great!
The include software is not very good, but you don't really need it. I use Photoshop to get still image, though the still image quality is not very good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Going on 3 years now...
I got this web cam as a gift almost 3 years ago. I still use it! It's dropped in price by quite a bit since then. Briefly, here are the main features worth mentioning. ^_^

You can record videos, and crop out parts from the beggining/end. For me the frames per second rate was always quite slow. Making videos of my daughter for her father was out of the question. The cam would freeze on one frame or blur too bad to see anything. Move in slow motion when making a video.

There is a autosnap feature. Set the refresh time, add a caption (pick the font, color, size, put it on the top or bottom, and select an optional time format) if you want, then pose while the camera takes a autoshot. Be warned, it saves over the previous picture so turn off the autosnap and resave the first one under a different name if you want to keep it.

Pictures can be saved to a certain file on your hard drive, upload via FTP, onto a disk, or to e-mail.

It has sticky tape at the bottom of the stand (I haven't used it, don't plan to) and is very easy to change the camera's angles. There's also a purple button on top of the cam, push it to take a picture (when the snapshot program is open) rather than having to use your mouse.

The settings are easy to reach and easier to change. If you don't know about the settings than change them one at a time and don't save if you don't like the effect. The light in the room will also effect how the image turns out. Keep that in mind.

It comes with pointless games that waste space (play them instead of staring off into space if you get bored). Your cam must be on to play them.

A family member dropped my webcam several times and even tried to open the case up. It still works perfectly for the most part. Every now and then when it would heat up it would get horizontal lines scrolling up across the cam image, or a weird tint (like green or purple). That was a major annoyance. It hasn't done that in a long time thankfully.

I really like this webcam. As long as videos aren't important to you, give it a try!

5-0 out of 5 stars Killer!!
I'm sure there are better cameras out there, but for the price, this is top of the line. The video input is extremely handy, plug the audio into your sound cards audio input and BOOM, you can transfer any of your videos to your computer. Intel is an A1 company and they have yet to disappoint. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It is okay. You just have to find more things to do with it
I purchased the Intel Pro Pack camera with the Create and Share Software. It is okay. I have a Celeron Chip inside so I don't get the fastest video but it is very decent. For beginners, I would highly recommend it. Keep in mind, your lighting needs to be set right. I had some problems with pictures in relation to the amount of light.

With a little tweeking and stuff, you can make great use of this camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little webcam for netmeeting
I have this webcam for over two years now and it worths every penny. I use it for video chatting and playing games.

5-0 out of 5 stars Modified for astrocam
After a week of trials and errors, I succeeded modify this affordable webcam to be my astrocamera. It works great! More info on "intel cs330 astrocam" can be found on google.

2-0 out of 5 stars No good if you have Windows 2000
This works fine with Windows ME(with a patch)and Win98 but I mostly use Win2K. Intel offers a beta driver for Win2K but it doesn't work very well. I would recommend buying a different camera if you use Windows 2000. I will have to buy another camera now that I use mostly Windows 2000.

1-0 out of 5 stars Off to a bad start...
I hear of Intel quite a bit nowadays. I expected their products to perform reasonably well... This flimsy hunk of plastic refused to comply with everything I tried to have it do. It would take one snapshot, then freeze. Then, once I got the program to become unstuck, my computer would crash, rendering everything on my computer dead. Then, after a few rounds of this, I decide to remove the software. Bad idea. It took over a half-hour of battle with this monstrosity to pry its deathgrip off my system. The closest I could get to determining the cause of this debacle is that, on the back of the box, it says that it's optimized for Pentiums. I have an AMD Athlon. ? Any help would've worked, but the forum for video and conferencing on intel.com was deactivated in April. Probably because people got fed up w/ a $140.00 P.O.S. and quit dealing with it. Good doorstop maybe, good camera, I don't think so. :( ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Performing USB Web-Cam Ever Made
Intel Home PC Camera / Model #CS331 / Original Retail was $79.99
I have two of these. Intel definitely got it right when they designed this cam, and it's a shame they've discontinued it. This is by far the best USB driven camera I have ever seen. The CCD based (instead of the standard CMOS) optics on this camera are phenomenal, and the video rivals that of my Sony camcorder! Sensitivity & color balance are very good. This cam performs well above average in low light conditions. The video is clear, with no distortion, and does not granulize or pixelate. If you're looking for a top-end USB web cam, try to track one of these down. It will be well worth the effort.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Webcam I've ever had
This is the best webcam I've ever had, it has excellent image quality due to its very best optics and CCD sensor. It performed beautifully under all light conditions, and extremely well in low light condition. After I used this webcam, I just dumped my two Logitech webcams ( which have very poor image quality and are junks compared to this Intel webcam)

5-0 out of 5 stars A nice camera that works with Windows 2000/XP
Inevitably, all computer purchases are dictated by compatibility. This camera /does/ work with Windows 2000. A word from the wise: Do not use the software disc that comes with the camera unless you actually want to do the things that are advertised on the box.

Instead, go directly to the Intel website and download the camera drivers alone. After unpacking the driver file, run the hardware setup as administrator. Now, you can use whatever webcam/pc cam software you want.

Following the above, I had this camera working inside 5 minutes. The Intel drivers increase the camera resolution and refresh rate over those of the default Windows drivers.

The default color balance is a tiny bit off and the USB cord is a bit short. But, overall, it's a fine camera and well worth the money spent over cheaper cameras.

5-0 out of 5 stars Half price at Big Lots
The discontinued model of Intels hot pc video camera is flying off the shelves at discount retailers. This would make a great Christmas gift now that you can afford 2 for the price of 1. Get one for yourself and give one to someone you want to see online. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A 5-star product in its class
A friend of mine from Minnesota bought it for me at a local shop and I got it here in Romania in mid December. I think the new Intel Pocket Digital PC Camera launched November 2001 at $... on Intel Direct Shopping site is a real wonder in its category. 16 Mb internal memory, plus expansion slot for Smart Media cards up to 128 Mb, buit-in flash and microphone (and speaker to hear click sounds during operation), two aperture lens (f2.8/f8.0), automatic or manual white balance control, USB connection to PC, fantastic software. The camera comes with a stand to fit on the computer, strap and traveling case. While connected to PC via USB to download pictures or be used as webcam it does not need battery power. Four AAA normal or alkaline batteries are required only when camera is used away from your PC as a digital still camera. Since there is no LCD screen on the back of the camera (in my view an extravagance anyway) to focus or preview shots, the battery life is amazing. I just replaced the original 4 (regular) batteries after emptying twice the 16Mb memory full of snapshots, most of them with flash! Nifty resolution and storage capabilities for a camera in this category: 256 pics at 640x480, or 96 pics at 1024x768, or 14 pics at 1280x960 (or combinations thereof). It can also accomodate 1 minute stored video with audio or 1 hour voice recording! Excellent webcam too. Vivid colors and working great with Yahoo Messenger, Camarades.com (have not yet tried the supplied software for Inetcam.com services). The included Intel Create and Share software is very imaginative and entertaining. The image editor program is called MGI PhotoSuite 4 Special Edition, but have had no patience to learn how to use it. I'm being faithful to my Corel Photo-Paint 10 that does the job just fine :). Although the camera appears to be in stock at major US online shops (....), it's a pitty the info provided on those sites is incomplete or incorrect and there's not even a product picture shown. Also, not selling in Europe yet, so I'm probably the first lucky European owning this pocket-sized rarity :). All in all a great buy, wholeheartedly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Inexpensive Camera
I came across it from reading its review on a computer magazine and everything it said is true. Works fine with me. Very portable. When my wife gave birth to our second baby (my first boy!), I took my baby's first pictures (from the hospital) with it and immediately send it to my sister on the other side of the country via email. She was excited and very happy to see them. The pics came out very fine. Before, I made a video postcard for her son's birthday with the software that came with it and he never stops playing it again and again. My work (in the middle east) keeps me away from my family (in the Philippines) most of the time and communicating with them via video e-mails and video conferencing using this pc camera helps ease a little bit of the pain of not being there with them always. It is compact enough to fit almost anywhere in my bag/pocket. The software that came with it is okey, with games, photo editing etc. The model I got doesn't have a flash so I would have given it 5 stars if it had one. For me its The Family PC Camera For The Novice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Camera I have found for the money
This camera for the monies spent is 10 times what I had anticipated but should have known better. Seeing what Intel has done with the Pentium Four, I would have expected none the less. I only wish that Intel gets back into manufacturing cameras again. It is a fantastic Web Camera with sound, it is a great recorder of sound and WOW to the concept of digital video making. It's the best investment I have made next to purchasing my home and my automobile.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome camera, even for the photographic enthousiast
I just went to hawaii about 3 weeks ago and took my handy Intel camera with me. I set the camera on medium (so i could take a LOT of pictures) and it took the most beautiful pictures imaginable. Armed with 2 - 128mb smart media cards and the on board, i could take around 1700 pictures if i ever so desired.
I ended up taking about 250 picutres and about 25 videos.
the picture quality is EXCELENT and the videos are very smooth AND HAVE SOUND.

very highly recommended

5-0 out of 5 stars great for non-techies
This is the perfect item for the average, non-technical person who just wants to take pictures to keep or send by computer to friends. It's simple to install and use and there's tons of great stuff in the program to play around with. I recommend it highly for people who don't want to get swamped with technicalities or complicated computer manipulation. It's simple, it takes great pictures and it's inexpensive. Great for beginners and amateurs like me. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very basic
I received this free with Microsoft Office 2000. For a freebie, it's decent, but I wouldn't pay for it.

The picture is small, and of bad quality. Sure, the camera is cheap, but the quality is really below average. I have trouble with the colour - it can vary between very dark to very light (without changes in the light of the room!) and sometimes has a green or blue tinge.

If I were you, I think I'd save up some more and buy one of a bit better quality. The Intel Pocket PC Camera Pack may cost more, but it is definitely of much better quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars The cheapest little camera you'll ever love
When I upgraded to Win. XP the first thing it decided not to accept was my PC Cam. It was close to christmas time and I had spent a bundle and was looking for an inexpensive camera that would just be compatable with XP until after the holidays when I was sure I'd find a bargain. That was four months ago. I am so impressed with what this little cam can do that I havent bothered to look any further. Part of what I like about this cam is the software that allows you to make video postcards, AVI videos to send through email and the photo storage. it's a great camera for the price and very campatable with Win XP I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best camera under 50$
I love this camera! Let me start by saying that I have had expiriences with other PC Camera's under 100$, and they were all dissapointments. This was the only Camera I was satisfied with (at that price), and I'll tell you why. With other camera's the lighting was always off. For instance if a light in the room was on, then the camera would appear very bright, and if it was dark in the room, You couldn't see anything. Although with this camera it uses new lighting technology, so that it senses the light in the room, and workes with it so that you get the best lighting you can get, and I think that that was the greatest advantage this this camera had over the others.

2-0 out of 5 stars easy to set up, but the pictures are bad
I got this with my computer and used it for about a year until I got a new camera. This camera was easy to set up, but the picture quality is horrendous. If picture quality isn't a big deal to you, the Intel Easy PC Cam pack will work for you; but if you like having quality images, save your money and invest in a better webcam (like the Intel Pocket PC Cam).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great bang for the buck
If you can find one of these you won't be disappointed. The video is crisp and clear and, unlike some webcams, sending video does not slow your computer to any noticeable degree. Installation is simple and the swivel mount makes aiming easy. One small problem - the camera does not work with CUSeeMe software for some reason. But it works great with NetMeeting, Paltalk, Yahoo, ICUII that I know of. They are tough to find - don't know if they are out of production or what. Far better than several others I've tried. ... Amazon.com Review

Probably one of the easiest PC video cameras to install, the Create and Share Camera Pack will have you creating digital videos, conferencing with friends and family, and sending still images through e-mail in no time. Don't worry if you're technology-shy, this camera is made so that even the most extreme technophobe can figure it out.

To set up the Create and Share Camera Pack, we just plugged our camera into the USB port on the back of our computer, turned it on, loaded the software and the install took care of the rest. The manual was incredibly easy to follow, with large print, nice illustrations, and well-divided sections for quick reference. After the software is installed, you can choose to take a tour of it or explore on your own. We found that the software was intuitive enough to just jump right in.

The camera is so small and light, that if you don't permanently mount it in place, it will move around. However, once you secure the camera, it is easy to adjust with both pan and tilt. You can adjust variable lighting settings and a manual focus if the picture isn't quite right. The video looks sharp and surprisingly clear and stays in focus from various distances. Make sure you have at least 28.8 Kbps modem, so that you receive clear, unchoppy video--anything slower won't be worth your time.

Aside from videoconferencing, Intel provides a number of other applications for the camera. You can send e-mail postcards, play camera games that let you interact live with the game on the screen, create and edit your own movies, or build your own Web page. One of the perks that sets Intel's package apart from the rest is the Create and Share's additional software that you can send to a friend or family member with whom you want to videoconference. Even if they don't have a camera themselves, it will enable them to see and hear you. For the novice videoconferencer, this package is a great deal, with just enough user-friendly software to make it a worthwhile investment.

Pros:

  • Nice, clear video
  • A great sampling of user-friendly software
  • Adjustable camera
  • Easy to install

5-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and maintence free
I have had this cam for about 3 years (actually bought 2 b/c I enjoyed the first so much, not a whole lot of tweeking and so on) good software, good support should you need it. Buy it you won't regret it. Great for a entry - mid level cam.

1-0 out of 5 stars BAIT & SWITCH from Heiu Nguyen
Bought the Intel ICS2USB Create-and-Share Tethered Camera and was shipped the older version - Intel PC camera pack from the year 2000 that retails for $59.99-$79.99 NEW, not the $114 that was paid. The guy (Heiu Nguyen)tried to say that the camera I got was actually better than the one I ordered, but that he would graciously allow Me to keep it because of his mistake on shipping the wrong item!!! When what he really needs is to get rid of the old, outdated version that intel no longer sells on their official website.

5-0 out of 5 stars Number One PC Camera Choice
The camera and the accompanying software are first rate. I especially like the Scene Recorder, with its ability to take snapshots and record videos. Please note that you can record sounds, such as your voice, with the videos. And most importantly you can Trim them. Videos are saved with extension AVI. You can use a Publish tool to compress an AVI file to Internet streaming format with extension IVS. Microsoft IE 5.0 browser can display both types of files on the Internet. Intel also makes the IntelPlay QX3 Computer Video Microscope. It has magnifications 10x, 60x, and 200x. You can have the most fun possible with two computers side by side: one with the Create and Share Pack Camera and the other with the Microscope Camera. Set up a Live View on the display of the pc with the microscope. Hand hold the Create and Share camera, and point it at the microscope Live View on the other pc. Speak into a microphone and record a video with your voice on the pc with the Create and Share Pack. An AVI silent video file recorded with the IntelPlay Camera can be compressed using Create and Share Publish. Use Create and Share NetCard to send a message with an AVI video recorded with either the Create and Share Camera or the IntelPlay Microscope Camera. I am looking forward to a chance to use the IntelPlay Microscope to generate the video seen in a Video Phone sender view.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is THE Camera
You can't go wrong with a package like this one. Not only do you get a camera that takes pictures and does video conferencing, but you get a web site program, audio recording (which is quite good), and other extras that make this package worth the money. It's easy to set up and easy to use! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy!
I saw a previous rating, stating that it isn't such a good camera for windows xp/2000, not true. I am running Windows XP, and it can do anything I would need it to, it works fine, and if you want that software anyway, you don't have to BUY it, you can get it free if you have the camera, and while you wait for this unecessary software, you can be surfing the web, and doing most anything you want with it, it works fine without the stuff. And this camera works quite amazingly. quite good reselution and color with adjustable focus, makes it good enough already, not to mention that it works very well in low light conditions. And it really isn't hard to use:
1.Plug into USB port
2.Use
So, I rate this camera quite exceptional for good quality and price, with much simplicity to use as most common people would.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crystal Clear Pictures
I just purchased the Intel Delux PC Cam from this site and I was very excited about it. I have a boyfriend and a best friend who live out of state, so I thought this camera would be a good thing while talking to them on the computer. At first I was a little distraught to find out that the CD did not come Windows2000 compatiable. Since the CD didn't work on my computer, all I had to do was go to the Intel site and download the program for free... no big deal. The only complaint I had was that it took FOREVER for me to be able to connect to the site to download it, and it took about an hour to download. But once it did, it was relatively easy with the step-by-step installation process. It was easy to understand how to work the programs when I got it started. Talking on netmeeting is only as good as the price you pay for it, but I must say the pictures in the snapshot section come out crystal clear! They are very amazing snapshots along with clear videos. I definitely reccomend this product to someone who doens't want to pay too much for a camera, but doens't want to get anything too cheaply made.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome starter cam...
I bought this camera in 2001 when it was $70 and it has not failed me yet. It's very small (fits in your palm) and has a detachable stand which you can stick to a table or on top of your computer. You can record short movies with sound. The software is awesome and I have yet to try out the post card feature among other things (no image editing).

The only down side is it is not portable and once in a while, the color is "off" depending on the lighting.

Definitely worth the price!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best buy!
This is probably the best buy you can find anywhere. For the price, this particular webcam is a steal. It comes with a bundle of software for video editing, snapshots, and several other softwares conveniently stored on two CD's. This could also turnout as a great gift for those loved ones who are far away from you. The resolution was amazing and it works wonders for single people looking for online webcam chats! Since I bought this product five of my friends have followed my example. Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Its great ......

4-0 out of 5 stars easy to install, good picture quality, update your drivers!
i use this camera on win98 exclusively. you can't install it on an NT or win2000 machine (the software won't install, nor will the updated drivers); on win98, very easy to get working. you can use it with any popular videoconferencing program that you like. the included software is nice to organize photo albums or make video movies. you can also use software to create web pages, and even a web cam (download the new software from intel.com); the focus wheel is on top of the camera, which makes focusing hard if you aren't right next to it....the lens cover is nice if you want to close it and protect the lens. the base is pretty stable, and comes with a bit of sticky tape so you can firmly mount it. if you don't use the sticky tape, i recommend velcro for easy mobility to different angles, otherwise the weight of the usb cable will cause it to tip a bit if it's not firmly seated. there are two lense settings for indoor and outdoor, but i've never used the outdoor option. (it's really a setting for light balance); update your drivers from intel.com and you get the pan and zoom features, as well as fixes to some of the hue and colour balance options.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great PC Camera..
I bought this camera to add some fun to my computer. The installation was easy, I just plugged it into an open USB port put in the CD and within 10 minutes I was using the camera. The software is great. There are some games that come with it that allow you to play basketball using the camera. Although the games are a bit cheesy, it's still a great idea. I used the software to film myself saying hi to my mom and I e-mailed it to her. She loved it. She now has it on her desktop and plays it all the time. There is also a internet phone call option which is more difficult because it requires the person you want to call to have the same software. But Intel was thinking and they included an extra CD to give to a friend. I can take great snapshots with the camera too. With the correct light, the pictures are almost as good as any digital camera. The package came with a chance to get extra free software that included a program that took a picture at certain time intervals or when it sensed motion (a lot of fun to spy on people while you're away). Also it included basic webpage building software, great for beginners. The last program allowed me to create longer movies out of pictures, movies and wavs that I had previously made. I sent the free software offer in and within a week and a half I got it (UPS!). Great product. Great price. I saw it advertised at Best Buy for more than $10 more.

5-0 out of 5 stars I found it on the tash...
My dad left crap on my front steps, this was one of the items, it works great...

5-0 out of 5 stars Best camera under $100
I purchased this camera a couple weeks ago and I love it. I have a Pentium III 650 mhz and 128 mb of ram so this thing has great picture quality and very good frame rate. I had no problems installing the software in Windows 98. The Camera Pack come with an extra video phone software disk that you can send to friends and family. I have owned other cameras in the past and none of them compare to this one. If you have never bought a pc cam before and you have a decent Pentium processor this is the cam to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best USB Cam out there at a great price. Easy to install.
I did a lot of research and I saw many positive recommmendations for this camera.

The price is very reasonable and it is very easy to install. Just load the software, reboot and plug in your USB Camera and you are ready to go. It comes with software to take snapshots and make digital videos (but you need a separate microphone because it doesn't come with one). I've made several video clips of my kids and emailed them to family. I'm not sure what the minimum PC requirements are. I have a 400 mhz Pentium II with 128 mb of ram.

The resolution isn't the greatest but I like using it with MSN Messenger and Microsoft NetMeeting. If your friends and family have MSN Messenger, you are two mouse clicks away from having a video call over your PC. I bought this for other family members and we can do a 2 way video call from across the country. The better the connection you have, the better the video stream. I have used in on Cable Modem and a 56K connection. My friends also want to buy one.

This camera is a lot of fun. ... Read more
