Amazon.com Review

The Compaq iPAQ 3135 is one of the most stylish Pocket PCs on the market. Unlike its highly sought-after sibling, the iPAQ 3635, this model has gone largely unnoticed, despite the fact that the iPAQ 3135 has one distinct advantage: longer battery life. This is because it comes with a 15-grayscale display that, while not as sexy as the full-color screen of the 3635, is eminently usable.

Utilizing Windows CE 3.0, the latest and much improved Pocket PC operating system from Microsoft, along with a 206 MHz StrongARM processor, this is both a powerful and flexible device. The unit comes supplied with an AC adapter, USB cable, case, and software for syncing with your PC, along with a full desktop copy of Outlook 2000.

Getting the unit up and running is straightforward, and managing the synchronization with your PC is simple with the aid of ActiveSync. The usual array of applications, such as Pocket versions of Microsoft Word and Excel, are at your disposal. It also comes with some exciting additions, such as MediaPlayer, enabling you to use your iPAQ as an MP3 player. However, with only 16 MB of built-in RAM available, be prepared to buy additional memory if this is an intended use.

The design, as well as looking good, is thoughtfully laid out. The buttons are well placed and usefully assigned. In addition, the iPAQ 3135 can be easily expanded with the included CompactFlash Expansion Jacket, which slides onto the unit, allowing you to increase memory and add modules (such as a bar code scanner) using CF cards.

If you're looking for Pocket PC functionality but need to be budget conscious, the iPAQ 3135 is a great deal. --J. Weston

5-0 out of 5 stars Best PDA bang for the buck
While color is nice, the price of a color iPAQ is not worth it when compared to this unsung model. Often overlooked the 3135 has all of the same features as it color siblings, Excel, Word, IE, Outlook, Calendar, Contacts, MS Money, but albeit with less RAM 16 compared to 32mb or 64mb for the color versions. However with the inclusion of the CF sleeve, which allows you to plug in CF cards from 8 to 256mb, the 3135 is the best PDA bang for the buck. And let's not forget the iPAQ comes with Windows Media Player, making it also an mp3, wma player, and it has the ability to record voice messages. With the CF sleeve and a few flash cards one can literally carry ones music libary with you where ever you go. Compared with the Palm Pilot, and Handspring Visor, this inexpensive jewel is perfect for the enthusiast, student or professional. After spending almost 6 months researching, playing with and talking with friends, neighbors and co-workers about which PDA to get I have yet to regret my decision.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product For New Handheld User
I waited a long time to buy a handheld and spent weeks researching the pros and cons of the two I was most seriously considering, the iPAQ and the new Palm m505. When I finally bit the bullet and bought the iPAQ, I initially was apprehensive regarding its price and some of the "glitches" I read about on the Compaq website message boards. Let me tell you, I have had this thing for 6 weeks now and I absolutely love it. Once you have decided between the advantages and disadvantages of Windows Pocket PC OS v. Palm OS, I don't think there is a better Pocket PC out there. Putting aside the superficial factors about how sleek and cool the iPAQ looks, it does so many things and synchronizes so well with Microsoft Outlook, that I think it's the best handheld out there (notwithstanding the price). The calendar, contacts and other organizer features are excellent. The games I have downloaded are pretty good (I am looking for better ones -- clearly Palm has an advantage here). I live in the city and play chess every morning on the subway -- which is a fine distraction when coupled with a CD player on my ears. I am still working on how to get MP3s downloaded to the iPAQ.

What really sold me on this product, though, was the excellent quality of the screen -- there are 5 levels of brightness to choose from; and the fact that I wanted color to go with it. I compared this to the Palm m505, and it was no contest. You could barely see the Palm screen in the store. Who cares about 65,000 colors v. 4900 when you can barely see the screen? This is one of the most important features of any handheld, in my opinion. The iPAQ memory is expandable, which will allow me to use it for a long time (barring any accidents). The handwriting recognition is excellent, and is much better than Palm's "graffiti."

The negatives I have read about and experienced re: the iPAQ are: (1) the slide-on expansion sleeves. People are complaining because there is no internal expansion slot in the iPAQ. Who cares? The sleeve does not add that much bulk and it's a fair trade-off for the other things you get. That said, the iPAQ is not necessarily something you can carry in a shirt pocket. I have carried it in a jacket pocket however, and it felt comfortable. (2) There isn't as much software out there for PocketPCs as there is for Palm products. I think, though, that due to the popularity of the iPAQ that is changing rapidly. Many of these games are free on Handago.com and Microsoft's PocketPC website. I downloaded a great chess game and a tankzone game that is just like "Battlezone" from the early 80s. I also downloaded "PocketQuake" for free, but need more memory to use it. (3) BATTERY LIFE. This is definitely a negative. I have constantly needed to charge this thing, so I bought a charging adapter for work and home. I take it with me whenever I travel. You can use this for about a day of regular use, then you will need to charge it. I have read that you can keep a Palm on for weeks without charging. Palm has the iPAQ beat hands down in this department, but then again, in my view, the battery drainage is due solely to the advantages I feel the iPAQ has over the Palm. It's a tradeoff. (4) Accessories will cost you. This is a product for people with money to spend on it. While you can get basic everyday usage out of the 32MB that comes with the iPAQ, you will need to buy at least another 64 MB of memory to really get the most out of it. (I haven't yet). Internet connectivity, which I would love to have, is still ridiculously expensive ($59.95/mo. with Omnisky). When this comes down and the connection rate improves (or I win the lottery), this will be a great thing to have.

The last thing I want to say is that it is a lot of fun exploring new things to do with the iPAQ. As with all handhelds, this is not a product like a washing machine that comes with clear directions on how to use its every aspect, particularly, downloadable software. The technology is still evolving, and it requires some work to find new things to download and use. I am still working on the MP3 issue, for example. But there is a growing community of users that provides advice on all aspects of the iPAQ on the Compaq website. It is a great feeling when you find something new to do on this product. If you are someone who likes things spelled out 100% and don't want to search for anyting -- do yourself a favor and buy a Palm. Better yet, stick to a notebook. On the other hand, if you like a little adventure and have some money to spend on this fantastic organizer/MP3 player/toy/computer, I don't think you will be disappointed.

3-0 out of 5 stars hard to read the screen
This is a good value, but the screen is very difficult to read in less than perfect lighting conditions. Under bright flourescent lights in the office, it is fine. The rest of the time, though, I have a heck of a time with it. The internal memory also isn't really big enough to store MP3s. I decided to go back to paper and pen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why I still like this PDA, continued
I found out the way to copy photos from my CompactFlash card onto the iPAQ. It's not hard but more complex than necessary. I also found out how to send the iPAQ in to have its screen replaced. A hassle. Its screen and/or stylus should work together so they don't produce scratches in the first place.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why I still like this PDA
I bought this model in 2001 and still use it every day. It is reliable and has lots of software built in. I've added List Pro and Pocket Quicken. The only problems I've had are that the screen has gotten badly scratched, and I can't get the Compact Flash Jacket to read my digital photos. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a find!
I read about this product in a magazine and thought Wow, just what I need! I nearly gave it a 4 star due to lack of instructions (1 page). I even got cold feet the night before and dragged my notebook computer with me to the meeting. It all seemed too easy. I plugged in it in and there it was in glorious color on the screen. The whole thing fits in a purse, and is quite easy to use.A must for PowerPoint presenters! ... Read more

Weighty stylus that feels really substantial in your hand. Handy pen inside when you (invariably) forget a writing implement. Unfortunately, I lost mine when the locking mechanism on my Ipaq 3835 broke. I've fixed that, so now I buying a another stylus as a replacement. Recommended. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with iPAQ 3835
I just received the product and found that the cable is not compatible with my iPAQ 3835. Amazon.com shows this product under accessories for the 3835 but it does not work.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incomplete Information
There are two problems with this kit. One is the fact that the synch connector is not compatible with the iPAQ 3835, and this bit of information is missing from the product description. The other is the I did not get a stylus/pen combination, I got a simple stylus. So, if you own a 3800 series iPAQ, stay away from this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incomplete Information.
The connector to synch the iPaq with a PC is not compatible with an iPaq 3835, this bit of information is missing from the product description. The kit also comes with a plain stylus, not the pen/stylus combination. If you have a 3800 series iPaq, you should stay away from this product.

3-0 out of 5 stars Caution - verify model compatibility first!
The new Compaq 38xx iPAQs that just came out have a different power/data interface from the older models. As of 3/11/02, Targus does not offer a USB adapter compatible with the 38xx series, so I doubt this is compatible. I am unable to verify this, so gave it an "average" rating - I cannot address how well it would work with the older models. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't purchase this item without reading this review first!
I purchased this item ...about two weeks ago, ..., well the next day I wanted to see if this outragiously priced case would actually work, so I tested, I dropped it with an older model iPaq I own, and when it hit the ground, the screen went off, I picked it up and shook it. All I could hear was rattling from the compaq, so I tried to turn it on, wouldn't turn on. It was completely destroyed, all the components in it had fallen off the circuit board. So I would just like to let you know, buyer beware.

Great product a must have for the real user. Well thought out product. Compaq has doon it again. Side note * I hope the goofs from HP do not screw up Compaq.

1-0 out of 5 stars Demasiando grande y exagerado

... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If you can find it, BUY IT
The CF Exp. Pack Plus is pretty much impossible to find in stores, and quite hard to find it available online at the MSRP (Most sellers know this item is in high demand so they sell it MORE than 99.99, the MSRP). I suggest if you find it at a price bellow a hundred dollars, just buy it!

Why buy it? This product is probably the BEST CF expansion pack out there no questions asked. First of all, I owned a regular Compaq CF expansion pack before.. nothing spectacular. This CF expansion pack however, does a lot more. The main thing of course is the battery. The battery doubles the regular life of the ipaq, which is important since the ipaq battery doesnt really last long. You can also take out the battery and use another battery or an extended battery if you wish to have more power. Secondly, one of my gripes with the old regular CF expansion pack was that it didnt protect the screen of my iPaq, like the Compaq Cover Pack that I also owned. And likewise, the Cover Pack I had didn't have a CF expansion slot. Well, the CF Exp. Pack Plus nails both problems. Not only does it include a CF expansion slot, it is also a Cover Pack. It looks and protects EXACTLY the same as the Cover Pack. There is a small grey plastic door that covers the screen. Basically, the CF Expansion pack plus is just a Cover Pack with a CF expansion slot and a very slim battery pack that doubles the battery life. All this...everything you wanted and needed.. in one sleeve. It might be "a little heavier" but it doesn't bother me a bit. I don't like the ipaq feel so light that it feels like im holding a naked ipaq, and I dont like the ipaq feeling so heavy that it feels like im holding a dumbbell... this one is just perfect, with everything on, it feels like your holding a gameboy. Perfect if you ask me. Oh and by the way, there is also an ejection mechanism to eject out ure CF memory card.. no more pulling out the CF card from the slot, just push the lil trigger and pop comes out the card.

Any problems with it so far? Nope, works perfect. My only problem is that Compaq didnt release this sooner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't be without it!
For those that use their Ipaq alot, I highly recommend this expansion sleeve. The price may seem a little high, but it has well been worth it to have the extra battery time. I have not had any problems with it at all. I originally was looking for just a CF sleeve when I purchased this. I have had it for about a month now and with some of the software and add ons that I have I am glad to have the extra battery time. The external battery charges extremely fast. The weight was the only thing that I had to get used to, but after a while you won't notice it much.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have!
My only complaint about my iPaq 3765 was it's short battery life (compares with my previous Palm devices). The Compact Flash Card Expansion Pack Plus is the perfect solution. It comes with a battery to boost the time my iPaq can be used, and by adding an inexpensive Compact Flash card, you get more memory too! My iPaq now has the same amount of RAM as my desktop!

It fits great and feels solid. I totally recommend this item!

4-0 out of 5 stars Improved Battery!
I've been using my CF+ for 5 days & everything work fine. I like the improvement on battery & the cover. I'm using a 3630 iPAQ. I read alot of horror stories about the CF+ but I took the dive & bought it because I badly needed the extra battery time. I'm really glad I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice enhancement for the iPAQ
I think that Compaq did a reasonable job of redesigning this expansion pack compared to the original. Especially since this one comes with an extra battery and the original was just a big block of plastic. I often use a Targus Stowaway keyboard, so having the extra power is extremely useful. Another nice feature is the screen protector. It is just like the one that comes standard with the 3800 series. This is great for protecting your investment. The pack only adds about a ¼ of an inch to the thickness of the unit, although psychologically it feels a lot thicker with the screen protector. The only negative comment I can offer is the fact that the pack with the battery adds a lot of weight to the unit. The pack and battery together are about the same weight as the iPAQ itself. Therefore the unit in the sleeve is double the original weight. It takes a little time to adjust to this fact, but having the extra memory and battery is well worth it. Besides, if you don't need the extra storage or power during a meeting or trip you can slide the pack off and travel light for a while. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nexicam for IPaq's
The NexiCam was a great solution to my digital camera problems since it worked directly with my Pocket PC... previously my old digital camera used a different type of memory than my IPaq Pocket PC, so transferring images between camera, PC and Pocket PC was alot more timely than I wanted.
The NexiCam works great, has more features than my old Kodak digicam, is very simple to setup and I am happy to be rid of the old memory cards. I love the built in Compact Flash memory slot, zoom feature and configurable self-timer.
One major downside I found was lack of good user documentation. The manual is Adobe based and very basic, you really need to experiment on your own to see the full potential of what you can do with the NexiCam (although that is alot of fun too!) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as durable as it should be, but a very useable product
I have the same problem as a previous reviewer. The tab on the battery (secures the battery to the case) is flimsy and plastic. And yes the blasted thing broke off without any assistance from me after only 4 or 5 months of carrying it around.

I don't have an issue with the cover, and I like the features that permit adding memory or pcmcia devices. It is a bit bulky, making the IPAQ PDA 2 and a half times as bulky. Which still leaves it smaller than a paperback book.

A thoroughly average product, in some respects. Making a more secure battery and making the cover removeable would be big improvements.

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon and the seller ripped me off
I bought this item from a seller on amazon and my credit card was charged. I received a notice from the seller saying amazon had informed him not to ship becasue of a credit card issue. At the time I thought nothing of it. I then contacted amazon who told me to solve the problem with the seller. The seller said he would refund a partial payment. I thought this is better than nothing, so I agreed. I waited and waited, but nothing. Amazon then said it was past the a-z guarantee date so they will not assist in the refund. Moral: Amazon allows rip-offs!
This is the guy's email moses0510@hotmail.com He won't answer mine, but please try for yourself. If you can help let me know skinow@skinow.net

4-0 out of 5 stars comes apart
I went through three of the old-style PC Card sleeves before getting the Plus style (one bad battery, one bad PC slot, sold 3rd once I got the Plus). Basically, I got it because it had the plastic cover on it.
Two problems: Detachable battery is not secured well enough and card-eject button should be recessed more to avoid accidentally arming it.
I don't think Compaq does enough durability testing on these things. I keep my iPaq in my pocket with a disposable camera and a cell phone. The plastic cover has begun to come off, and now the battery clip has broken, so the battery falls off. I've only used it for a few months, and now I'm already going to have to get a replacement.
Advantages of having it: I can take my 802.11b wireless card with me where-ever I take my iPaq. I've been amazed at the number of times when I've desperately needed to use the internet to quickly check on something while at some location, pulled out my iPaq w/PC Plus sleeve and 802.11b PC card, turned it on to discover I had a connection to an access point, and saved the day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Much better than the old PC card sleeve
This represents a 100% improvement on the old PC card sleeve. The replaceable battery pack is a very welcome addition to anyone who chronically runs their iPaq down while away from a charger, and the clear cover protects while letting you see the screen (but not USE the device with it closed).

My only complaints are:
1. The cover is hinged, and it's kind of in the way when it's open. It's not removable, so you can't take just the cover off and still use the sleeve.

2. The cover is tinted, just dark enough to make it difficult to read the screen through it. It would be much better totally clear, or totally opaque so I'd stop trying to read through it. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not too happy!
I am not too happy with this case. The belt clip does not fit any work belt I wear. It will work fine with a dress belt, but not any kind of wide work belt. The inside of the case is full of dried glue where they glued the lining to the leather. Most of all, the ipaq will not fit in the charging cradle while it is in the case; you have to take it out of the case everytime you want to sync it to your computer or charge it. Also I don't like the pocket on the inside of the case. Anything you put in the pocket (like an sd card) presses directly on the screen. It may be safe, but I'm not going to take a chance with the screen. Searh for something better, especially at the price of this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Exelent choice for carrying a nacked iPAC
For those who don't wear shirts with pockets or are afraid of the iPAC slipping out of the pocket and being damaged on the floor, AND who have not added any slip-on accessories, this is a great add-on.It fits the naked iPAC just perfectly with easy access to all functions except the recessed reset button on the bottom, which you hopefully won't have to use very often.

What I really like is that it has a belt clip, very much like the ones used by some of the high quality cell phones. It slips on the belt, and a "button" on the back of the case securely "snaps" into the holder. To remove the iPAC along with the case, you push a large button on the top of the belt clip and the case easily slides up and out. When you are ready to put it away, it "snaps" securely in place.Another thing I like is that I carry mine on the right side, which covers the right hand pants pocket. The case, mounted on the belt loop easily "swivels" out of the way to allow easy access to the pocket.

The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that the portion of the belt clip where the belt slips through could have been made to more easily accomidate various belt "thicknesses".The belt I use is somewhat thick,(as opposed to "wide") but not at all uncommonly thick. The belt clip accomidates it, but just barely, and putting it on the belt is a pain, especially where the belt holes have been stretched "out" by strain on the belt by my little bit to large stomach. You have to exert some "muscle grese" to slip the clip onto and up the belt to its desired location.

I don't wear a shirt with a pocket very often, and when I do, I still prefer the iPAC holder because it is secure, there is no added weight to the shirt pocket and you don't notice the iPAC at all mounted on your belt ... even sitting down it swivels out of the way.

I use my iPAC a lot for listening to mp3's that I download. The flap on the case works beautifully to hold the earphone plug snugly in the earphone recepticle on the IPAC, something I had trouble with before I got the Rhino Case.I remove the iPAC with case frequently during the day, and the large "release" button on the belt clip works easily to release the case from its "locked" position without having to look down to the clip ... it is easily done by feel alone.

Of all the add-ons I have purchased for my iPAC, becides additional SD Memory for mp3s, the Rhino case is, by far, the most useful and, for me, essential of the lot.To top it off, it has worked flawlessly as advertised and the fit to the iPAK is perfect. Now, the question is, how long will it be before either something breaks on the belt clip, or the eye on the back of the case comes off (as so often happens with cell phones that use this same system).Once either of those events happens it will be time or order another RhinoSkin Leather Flip Case.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good fit for my IPAQ, mostly.
This was mostly a good fit for the Ipaq. It's not hard to insert and take out, but I have to push it in really hard to get the entire top of the screen to be visible in the window. But that might change after I've had it a while and it breaks in.

The post mount is a plus, since it's compatible with any Nokia phone post mount.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not too bad
Very pleased with the flip case, however think it is a bit pricey.Provides the kind of protection I need working in a manufacturing facility.Love the belt clip, and it seems sturdy enough to hold up.5 stars if it was under 25 bucks. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice but expensive gadget, limited features. To improve.
(Part III)

After a brief analisys what you get is the following:
- an IPAQ sleeve form factor expansion. (This feature is a pro and a limitation at the same time because while combining perfectly with iPAQ devices, will not be compatible with other PocketPCs.
- an 800 by 600 CMOS sensor embedded in the plastic case
- a single unpowered Compact Flash expansion slot
- the PocketPC software driver to make the camera work with your device

The Flash
An additional unfortunate feature is the lack of flash. The camera is virtually useless at night or in dark environments. The actual compact design could have included a built in flash like the those on the single use 35mm film cameras or, even better, a small detachable flash module powered by AA or AAA batteries, attach to the unit when needed.

The Zoom
The fact that such feature is present should make the camera more enjoyable. Unfortunatly Nexian made another bad choice: The lack of optical zoom. I am not talking about a Carl Zeiss, a Nikkor or an high quality grade lens, but just by providing the camera with a decent lens having a short range zooming capablity would have been probably a much better choice than the digital zoom, which actually reduces the quality of the images captured making them grainy, jagged and/or blurry beyond acceptable levels. A simple, manually adjustable mini zoom lens would allow the nexicam to produce higher quality close-up shots. The current low quality of the images created by the digital zoom will make it a feature you will try to avoid as much as possible.

The Auto Focus
In a device like this make to get picture on the move this feature is a must, the nexicam auto focus feature unfortunately is slow and often will require you to stay still for a few seconds while the device is adjusting exposure and focus, you will be able to see the image appear on the viewfinder while the device performs such adjustment process. This will happen especially when passing from highly illuminated areas to dark ones. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Why you need these
Even if you prefer other stylus features, you'll want to have spare offical Compaq ones that fit into the stylus slot on your iPAQ. Depending on the time your iPAQ was manufactured, your unit will allow dust to get into the stylus hole and embed itself on your display. Due to the side and backlight features of the iPAQ, these dust particles will GLOW brightly, obscuring portions of the screen.

The trick to keeping dust intrusion to a minimum is to KEEP YOUR STYLUS IN THE SLOT AT ALL TIMES.

If you loose you stylus, you'll be wishing you had a spare to plug up that slot again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Losing your head
If you are like me it's easy to lose things in this ever crazy world and a pen is one object that can get lost very often. The stylus 3-pack fixes this problem. You can leave one at home, in the car, and at work. Even if your not losing things left and right it's good to have an extra around. With my first handheld the stylus broke after eight months, and using my finger just put smuges all over the LCD. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works well for what I wanted
For the price, this is a great addition for my iPAQ. I already have a nice digital camera that takes pictures in any setting. This is something I can carry around in my briefcase or my pocket for occasions when I need a quick snapshot. It's pretty much worthless in low light situations, but that's true for any low-end digital camera without a flash. Outdoors the pictures are just fine. They're perfect for email or other small requirements.

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep looking - this ain't it!
I have to agree with the "lousy" review. It seems to be a decent setup, but if you need a light more intense than any naturally available, what is the point? HP needs to get this fixed so it is much more sensitive to light and can operate with a faster "shutter" speed to prevent blur and also produce something other than an extremely dark picture. I wasn't looking for something that great with a 1.3 MP camera, but this was a total loss. Can you say Return Merchandise Authorization?

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy Camera
This is the first time I post a review because I am compelled to do so.

I bought this camera to use during the Christmas holidays. I tried to use it the first time to take a picture of the Christmas tree, all I saw was complete darkness. Then I realized that I needed more light. So I turned on all the lights in the house and it was still darkness. If you plan to use this camera indoor, please forget about it! No way.

It isn't that great outdoor neither. I took many pictures with the automatic exposure setting. It cannot handle anything with a bright background. It will just be VERY bright.

I tried to use it on the ski slopes. I think it is because of the cold temperature, the camera has to be reset often. To make the matter worse, the pictures turned out literally "twisted".

I can't belive a HP camera can have so many flaws. Very disappointing. Please don't buy one.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this Camera!
Not my style to write reviews.....but I'm so satisfied with this product that I must give kudos! Straight from the box into my IPAQ H2210 and started immediately taking high quality 1.3 mp pictures. Note that as a Nikon coolpix 3 meg. pix camera owner I was able to compare. Unit is surprisingly much smaller than it appears on Amazon's web-site. Nice case too. Very simple to operate, and the software is easy to understand.....plenty of handy features. T

The only reason why I can't rate this 5 stars: it appears delicate and may not stand up to average bumps and knocks.....especially attached to the PDA via the SD card...guess that's the case with most PDA peripherals of this kind.

The conclusion: Go buy one......mine came from Amazon and absolutely no complaints here! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars too little info provided to order
I received this battery pack, only to find out that it requires the Expansion Pack Plus to work. Nothing in the write-ups indicated this. Now I have a battery pack with no place to connect it. Now ... I have to figure out how to return it ... sigh.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good deal is you have battery problems
I bought this battery pack in hopes of extending the life of my Compaq Ipaq 3635. The battery now holds a charge for less that a minutes, and dies. I received this battery pack, only to find out that it requires the Expansion Pack Plus to work. That means, it cost nearly $150 to replace a poor battery, if you include the cost of the Expansion Pack Plus, plus a slimline battery.

Unless you own the Expansion Pack Plus, don't buy this. Either change PDAs, or get a do-it-yourself install kit for the internal battery on the IPAQ. ... Read more
