Amazon.com Product Description Still the ideal choice for heavy-duty calculations in real estate, banking, and finance, the HP 12C Platinum has over 130 built-in functions. Statistical features include cumulative analysis, standard deviation, mean, weighted mean, linear regression, forecasting, and correlation coefficient, to name a few. Business and finance features include TVM (loans, savings, and leasing), amortization, bond price and yield to maturity, and registered-based cash flow analysis with memory for 30 cash flows, and much more. Programming is simple, with storage for up to 400 recorded keystrokes which can then be executed with the push of a button. What's in the Box Features Reviews (16)
My biggest disappointment with the 12cP is its relatively slow processing SPEED vis-a-vis the predecessor 12C and its competition. The 12cP is notably slower than the 12C especially when performing Time Value of Money (TVM) calculations. Running both HP12s side-by-side with the same data input, my 12cP has been consistently slower by 50% as compared to my 12C. If possible, I would suggest that potential users and buyers try this data set on both the 12C and 12cP before buying. Clear register. Find [i] after input [PMT]=-1458;[FV]=0,[n]=84,[PV]=103600. The HP12C would take 20 seconds "running" while the HP12cP would take about 30 seconds to give the same answer [i]=0.4059! This apparent lack of speed is difficult to accept for a supposedly latest financial calculator upgrade from any manufacturer! It is a bad joke, considering that my 12 years old HP10B could perform the same TVM calculation in just 2 seconds! The good people @ HP may like to know that 96% of my fellow students are using their competitor's Texas Instrument TI-BAIIplus! The BAII-plus is chosen for its 50% lower price and much faster processing speed. After using the misnomer of a sucessor HP12cP, I personally feel that the 12C is still very much the industry standard. However, it would be better if HP would consider incorporating some useful improvements like a [BACKSPACE] key (<--)and incorporating a faster processor chip into the future HP12C-GOLD II(?), IMHO. Also, seasoned 12C users of the RPN would not miss the ALG mode on the 12cP especially when it HP doesn't have "( )" included. The HP12c is an odd ball ALG calculator from this viewpoint. Dear HP, please let future HP12C GOLD upgrades remain as an exclusively RPN machine. Although both my 12C/cP sets were "Made in China" by probably the same HP OEM to high HP quality. At a glance, the HP12C gold still has better cosmetic finishing than the 12cP. In addition, the keys on the 12C does feel very much better than those on the 12cP. In a nutshell, the 12cP is more of "an alternative to 12C with ALG mode" than an upgrade or a sucessor of the 12C GOLD. When choosing between the 12C or 12cP, it is wiser to go for the 12C Gold! Smart consumers, should go for GOLD, buy the 12C "gold standard" until HP could produce a real and wholehearted improvement of the 12C. Thank you for reading my review on the HP12c PLATINUM.
A. the keyboard is way too small. Its not easy to slouch back and fiddle your taxes in comfort. I like to calculate while relaxing. B. the display panel is way too dark. Whilst pontificating dollars and cents I like to see my figures brightly lit. C. there are not enough numerical digits to calculate my massive bank account. I would only recommend this Platinum model to those not serious about burning the midnight oil. Those old chunky models are far superior and have paper. And why the orange and blue coloured buttons? This is not how a calculator should look. Not recommended for Mikey... HP should stick to manufacturing brown sauce
When this new version came out I was really excited to try it out even if I had absolutely no reason to do so by virtue of my half a dozen or so 12C's. I had to try it, however and I ordered it last week. For some reason I didn't read any of the reviews (bad call) and boy did I pay for it! The Platinum 12C is truly a piece of junk. More reminiscent of old Texas instrument calculators than of real 12Cs. Starting with the keys, you immediately get the sense of holding a much more cheaply made calculator. The keys jiggle and they actually make a cheap plastic noise when you press them (whereas the old 12C keys were solid and the way they pressed into the body of the computer made any HP calculator a pleasure to work with), the feet are uneven so when you press the keys the machine actually moves from side to side even on a flat surface. The display is a disaster - when you press lightly on it you get a ghost image that lasts for a few seconds. I must admit that I like the new look - sharp, modern, up to date. But the much cheaper manufacturing of this calculator make the decision easy. Stick with the old 12C. You'll be sadly disappointed if you buy this calculator. I'm truly amazed that HP would actually launch this piece of junk knowing that this calculator has probably enjoyed a more loyal following than any other product in their line. Why would they sacrifice years of loyalty to save a few pennies. I don't know - maybe Carly is reading these reviews and will let us all know. ... Read more

Unfortunately, the built-in flatbed scanner leaves much to be desired. Colors come out looking "washed out" or inaccurate. The images are blurry, and if you apply the built-in sharpening, the edges become jagged. Nevertheless, the scanner is good enough for making quick black & white copies like you would with a Xerox machine. Just don't expect it to be good enough for photographs. Get a real scanner for that.

The software has been improved greatly over last year's products. There is now a much lower chance of problems with installation. The extra software that's included isn't too large, so this printer is good for PC's close to the minimum requirements. If you print more than 100 pages a month, or if you have a business, I'd recommend the Deskjet 6540 instead, as the ink costs half as much. Due to the higher ink cost, the 3745 is a good choice only if you don't print a lot. Otherwise, it is an excellent printer for home use. ... Read more

The 4600 connects via a USB port (USB 2.0 compatible) and is compatible with both PC and Mac platforms. What's in the Box Features Reviews (4)
I was given the runnaround by the HP tech(?) and am going to have to wait until HP or some other company revamps the technical issues of what is otherwise an elegant and smart design. As a point of comparison I did identical scans with my Epson Stylus CX5400 all in one and when I could get a scan that wasn't plagued with the vertical banding I found the Epsons color and clarity superior at identical resolutions. (sarcasm here) Mind you, the Epson is a slightly more expensive ($50) printer copier scanner while the HP is only a scanner. This HP does not do what it is advertised to do.

The guy at Best Buy told me I needed a USB cable, which is true, but it is not necessary unless you are printing from your computer. He tried to sell me a $30 one; I went to Walmart the next day and got one on clearance for $12. The printing is absolutely wonderful! The colors and hues are so rich, it looks like you are there in person. The blue sky is as blue on the picture as it was in person! Same with all the other colors! I have not run into any problems with little stars or black lines appearing on my pictures, and since I installed it about two hours ago, I have printed more than 50 4x6 prints using the HP Premium Photo Plus glossy paper. The prints are instantly smudge-proof, but take longer time to dry if you want to put them in an album (especially the ones with the dark colors). I feel the quality is equal to that os lab processed prints. I took a picture of the sunset one day and the oranges and reds just jump off the picture at you. I also haven't had any problems with any paper jams or "ink failed error" as some other reviewers have complained. The tray can only hold 20 4x6 cards at a time, so don't overload it and you'll be fine. I also liked that it came with two ink cartridges, one color and one photo. After 50-something pictures, the cartridges are still going strong. I also bought a black cartridge and color cartridge (a combo pack at Best Buy for its sale price of $39.74, regularly $53) and a gray photo ink cartridge along with a second photo cartridge. In addition I bought the HP plus glossy and matte paper (haven't used the matte yet) One word of advice (and it tells you this in the manual): When you place the paper in the 4x6 tray, make sure the side you're printing on is down and the perforated edge is toward you. I made the mistake of putting the paper in backward and had a couple prints come out with a white stripe on the end where the perforated edge should have been. This printer is great for the price and ease of use! No complaints whatsoever!
Downside: paper path a little convoluted but no problems. Perfect companion for my Nikon CoolPix 5400 digital camera.
THIS IS THE PRINTER TO GET.!!!!!!!

The PDA looks dull in the plastic body. The buttons are all standard PPC type. Average weight and battery life for a PPC. The Windoze OS is a bad idea for handhelds, why do think MSFT keeps changing the name every time they release new bloatware? Comparing raw MHz/MB or advertized feature set is not a good idea with PDA's. (8MB on Palm OS does more than 64MB on bloated Windoze.) All the cool features look great for first few weeks and then the PPC gadget might stay in your drawer! Easy of use, reliability, battery life and intuitive software (like a Nokia) are more important than voice recording, mp3 playback and video. Check out the "Zen of Palm" if you aren't convinced that Palm OS is much better. If you desperately want a "PC in your Pocket" buy this iPaq, its better than other PPC clones out there.
¿qué es mejor, el peso o la levedad? Me quedo con ambas, menos de 150gr con todo el peso de la tecnología.
lets face it, things break it is inevitable. but dont believe the hype. The HP warranty from what many other people post here across different models of IPAQ can be summed up in 1 sentence. "the warranty is simply an insurance plan in which repair costs will be lower than getting your item fixed out of its warranty" as i found out my same issue would have run me $250 & change out of warranty , however my fix was not included in the warranty and mercifully was given a reduced rate because i am in warranty..its a bit of rhetoric nonsense but this is the corporate engine of HP.com...now that we got this KUNG FU style of chess playing here are my grades warranty coverage .. c+ HP telephone support : B Billing Center : D "it isnt so wrong of me to ask what was wrong with my item? Surely you yourself dont go shopping and just stuff items in your shopping bag, you are gonna look at what your taking off the shelf? right? let alone the bill that your spending money on the items on right? or are you just gonna fork out your cash with no questions not caring what its amounted to and what you have bought?" a cut & dry collections team here made this part of the repair process by far the worst ive had to deal with. Reminds me of a traffic cop giving you a ticket, heartless & un speakable. shipping Process & return process : a+ more plusses.. ther was a ROM upgrade for my IPAQ which they put on it.. 1.10 is the rom for 2200 series it was upgraded to from 1.00...and its on HP's website FYI for download..by placing this rom on your unit it requires HARD reset & such ive done it for some of my colleagues in the office upgrading from PPC 2002 to 2003 on different HP models. They replaced the SHIELD...there were some minor NICKS & cuts from having placed screen shields on my PPC prior, all to which are GONE...they gave me a new shield scratch free. treat your PPC with love..those are my plusses & minuses with HP
