5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Carmera, poor offering
I purchased this Camera because of the good deal since it stated that the docking station is included with camera, still does.I got the camera, but not the docking station.I contacted Amazon about it and they were to resolve it by sending me another camera with the docking station.Too no avail, still no docking station. Now I had two cameras and no docking station. Finally got one camera sent back, but stillno docking station from Amazon. As far as the product, GREAT CAMERA forthe price!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This camera gets an A+
I received this camera as a Christmas present last year and I love it!It's very user-friendly, compact, and you get high quality pictures with it.I especially like the zoom feature. The built-in directions for the multitude of settings are handy--no need to lug the owner's manual around.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great compact digital camera with reasonable price...
I bought it as a sub digital camera. I have a fuji S7000.
-Low lighting condition: it is much better than any others
-Picture quality: Very good or equal to S7000 with 6M*** setting
-Easy of use: Yes, it is very easy and support 11 languages
-Size: small enough and solid construction
-Red eye: it works as it described. Although, it is "post-processing" and takes 1-3 seconds per picture.
-Battery life: good enough to take 150 pictures
-LCD: 1.8" with 120K pixels. Very clear than low resolution 2.0" or 2.5".

Not like:
Re-charging flash or saving picture take longer than S7000. I'm not sure it is because of compact camera. Depended on picture quality setting, it takes 2 - 5 seconds.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic camera for a great price!
I'll admit it, I basically bought this camera because it was affordable (I got it for $149.99 at Target), and it had all the features I wanted in a digital camera.

It's incredibly easy to use! I took it out of the box and started shooting photos about ten minutes later. There are so many nice features, too. It has a built-in flash (which can be modified to a red-eye reduction setting, a night setting, and other settings depending on what lighting you're using), optical and digital zoom, an LCD screen, and much more. I thought 2.1 megapixels wouldn't work well for me, but I've found that they are perfect for me. Most of the photos I take are just for fun, for my website, for selling items on eBay, or just everyday use, so I don't need to print out photos any larger than 8 x 10.

I would suggest buying a larger memory card for the camera if you want to take lots of pictures at one time. Mine came with a 32MB card, and that takes about 35 pictures (if you use the highest quality setting -- more if you use a lesser quality setting). Also, purchasing rechargable batteries is a very good idea, seeing as the camera goes through batteries fairly quickly.

Basically, if you're looking for a camera that's easy to use, takes fantastic photos and is affordable...this is the camera to buy. It's great for first-time digital camera buyers (like me).

2-0 out of 5 stars HP 635 Battery Problem
This camera does a lot for what u have paid. I bought this camera a couple of weeks back and there were some problems with self timer 2 shots. Later I found that those problems are related to the battery and not to the software. Yes. It eats up battery very fast, which you cannot afford. I have 4 NiMH rechargable batteries with me and I can take only around 40 pictures (half of them with LCD off). Buy this camera if you are planned to use with AC adapter. Otherwise step away from this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEGINNERS PERFECT CAMERA
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA FOR "ANYONE" ANY AGE AS A STARTER CAMERA FOR DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY. I WAS GIVEN A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE CAMERA (DIGITAL) FOR A GIFT. MY FIRST DIGITAL CAMERA. IT WAS A DISASTER. I COULDN'T EVEN READ THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL IT WAS SO CONFUSING. I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA AS A TEACHING TOOL FOR MYSELF. IT WAS PEERFECT RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING. I HARDLY EVER USE THE "OTHER" CAMERA(IT COST $400).THAT ONE IS LEFT TO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS.

SO FAR NO PROBLEMS. BATTERY SEEMS TO GO ON FOR EVER. I PAY ATTENTION TO ALL INSTRUCTIONS ON ENERGY SAVING. WORKS PERFECT WITH OR WITHOUT THE DOCK FOR TRANSFERING THE PICTURES. NO END TO RECHARBLE BATTERIES. THE SAME PAIR HAS LASTED FOREVER. THANK YOU......JT

3-0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby; one complaint though..
I wouldn't call myself a [digital] camera expert. I have a few friends with digicams and this my first one. All the features on this thing are great! Lightweight, practical, and it's not too slow taking pictures or loading them. It's fun to play around with, too. My camera drained AA's like nobody's business; but then I got rechargeable ones. Still, the battery power is a problem-- Enough to make you conscious of how long you leave it on, and how much you use the screen (which drains more power) rather than the oldfashioned viewfinder. Hope this helped, and GOOD LUCK with your search!

2-0 out of 5 stars Horrible battery life, good camera otherwise
This camera takes awesome pics for the value, but you will make up for it with all the batteries you will need to purchase! I took this camera to a car show after having it for a couple months and took a 10 pack of batteries with me, I used all 10 batteries up within 2 hours and only took about 80 pictures! True you could get rechargable batteries, but you would still have to carry all of them around with you. I would reccomend finding another camera that is better on batteries, one that you could get away with not carring a small energizer plant in your pockets! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This printer is groovy!
I purchased this printer a few months ago for my work, and I am still totally in love with it. It is really fast, printing 20 ppm black and 12 ppm color. The HP DeskJet 6122 is very quiet, and everything I print looks fabulous, including printing out photographs.
Perhaps my favorite thing about this printer is the automatic double-sided printing feature. I am in awe of this feature. No more manually re-feeding papers through the printer! Yay!

HP has always been my brand of choice; I've always found their products to be highly reliable, affordable, and easy to use. The 6122 is everything I expect from Hewlett Packard and more!

This printer is groovy!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Stellar Business Class Performer
Our current office environment is a hodgepodge of desktop and network printers all of which need toner or inkjet cartridges replacements on a continual basis. Even over a short period of time this can add up to a tidy chunk of change, not to mention the storage space needed to store the disparate collection of dissimilar boxes and packages. Add to that the need to call a variable rainbow of manufactures and one could see that something needed to change. We needed a standard for desktop inkjet printing, which would combine outstanding output, low cost, easy maintenance, duplex printing, and a small footprint. Enter the HP Desktop 6122 business class printer.

According to a Hewlett Packard media releases, the HP Desktop 6122 inkjet printer offers the ability to print: "laser-quality black text plus professional color photos at up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi color printing on premium photo papers and 1200 x 1200-input dpi. With quick print speeds - up to 20 pages per minute in black and up to 13 pages per minute (ppm) in color - your high-volume printing will be incredibly efficient!"

The latest crop of HP desktop printers is now indistinguishable from their LaserJet counterparts in print quality when the proper weight paper is utilized; for inkjets that weight should start at 22lbs. Adding color to this functionality makes the HP Desktop 6122 a bargain at $180.00.

Features & Specifications:

One of the biggest selling points of the HP Desktop 6122 is the standard duplex module (the ability to print on both sides of the paper) which ships with the printer, and must be installed during the initial printer setup and configuration. This option is then selectable via the printer software. The duplex printing option has worked perfectly for our user base thus far.

Another feature business-class clients will find useful is the standard 150 sheet paper tray that is standard on the HP Desktop 6122, instead of the 100 sheet tray found on most Inkjet printers at this price point. In addition, an optional 250 sheet paper tray can be added to the printer, which attaches to the bottom of the unit. Also, a number of Ethernet based Jet Direct network cards can be attached to the printer including:

•HP Jetdirect 175x External USB Ethernet Print Server J6035A
•HP Jetdirect wp380 server J6061A
•HP Jetdirect 170x External Parallel Ethernet Print Server J3258BHP
•Wireless Print Server wp110 (802.11b) J6062A

For built-in Ethernet connectivity, HP offers the HP Desktop 6127. Standard connectivity is provided via IEEE 1284-Centronics parallel compatible, and version 2.0 Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports. It is worth noting that HP does not include either printer cables in the box with the printer. Specifications include:

Duty Cycle: 5,000 pages per month

The HP Desktop 6122 printer can be attached to a Mac or PC.

Installation:

Installation of hardware and software components for the HP Desktop 6122 is easy and straight forward, with a typical installation taking less then ten minutes. HP has provided an easy to read (large print) step-by-step installation sheet for both Mac and PC users. The most difficult portion of the installation is the duplex unit which ships unattached; however the procedure for installing it is clearly outlined on the installation sheet.

The HP Desktop 6122 ships with two print cartridges, one black, one tri-color. Installation of these is easy and is again well spelled out on the installation sheet. Unlike some previous models which called for the installation of the software driver before connecting the printer to the USB port, the HP Desktop 6122 installation instructions call for the reverse; i.e. the printer should connected to the USB port first, powered on, at which time the software and drivers can be installed.

First Impressions:

I like the printer. It has a small footprint, and while not the most attractive inkjet on the market it is thus far very reliable, which is a quality I have come to expect from HP products. The black print is outstanding even on standard 20lbs laser paper, though I advise all of my clients to purchase 22-24lbs inkjet paper for the best results. Color output is nothing short of spectacular, and again with dedicated 22-24 pound inkjet paper, or even glossy photo paper, the results will speak for themselves. The colors on the page are sharp, bright, vibrant and true to life, with no streaking or running evident. And while the HP Desktop 6122 may be on the noisy side, the decibels levels are certainly acceptable and not at all distracting.

Conclusions:

Price, fast draft printing (which by the way saves a considerable amount of ink), duplex printing, and options such as a second 250 sheet paper tray, as well as the ability to add an external Jet Direct Ethernet NIC, combine to make the HP Desktop 6122 a very attractive alternative to even the most basic laser printer.

4-0 out of 5 stars The true work horse with minor bugs & great performance
I had an HP Laser which drove me batty in terms of getting stuck paper unjammed. After looking at 5550 and 5650, along with Epson, Lexmark and Cannon, I bought the 6122. I rate
the printer 4 1/2**** and am in the process of buying a second.

The construction is sturdier than the 5650 and even 960.
The printer memory is amazing. I will print 40 pages. Nothing will come out at first and then they start flying. The quality,
especially for text letters at Best is like laser. Color
quality: I have a picture of my feline and it is superb.

Bugs that may be related to my CPU include having the printer go off line. This is easily fixed. I just delete the pages
in the que, reboot, reenter the pages being printed and off
we go. I have XP Home. The 6122 is quite at home with it.
Generic cartridges work fine. Have a box in front for when the printer gets going, pages fly out.

The 6122 eliminated slight negatism re: HP old laser jamming.
While not as easy to find in stores or on sale much, the
6122 is worth list price plus. I am mystified over some
of the criticisms. The 6122 is not the most space age
stylish model. It is a Clydesdale. Now I will get a new HP Amdahl or Intel CPU to go along with it. Buy the 6122
and use your worries elsewhere. This is almost as reliable as my Honda Accord.

1-0 out of 5 stars Decent Printer - LOUSY HP support
This printer seems to be a decent, reliable, no-nonsense printer. I really like the double-sided print capability. Photo printing isn't bad, but not the best I've seen, and not as good as my HP 960c printer (which was replaced by this printer when it broke after only a few months). The Photo Print software, which is otherwise very useful, has a serious disk space detection bug in it. When I called HP, they "offshored" me to India and I was unable to obtain any useful help there. For this HP deserves the lowest possible rating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Home or Office Printer
I have had three HP Deskjet printers for my office and have had great luck with all three. I did not do any comparison shopping for my work printer it was just assigned to me by my company. The HP Deskjet 6122 printer is an outstanding printer. I have had the opportunity to use it with all print modes and several paper types. It prints superb photo quality prints with photo papers. It prints business size envelopes very well. You can feed them in one at a time or place them in the lower tray for multiple envelope printing. It also works well for printing greeting cards. On draft mode it shoots out the pages with lightning speed and even in draft mode the quality of printing is pretty good. It uses high volume ink cartridges and the cartridges are reasonably priced for the amount of printing you get out of them. I like the printer so much that I bought an identical one for home use. The one I bought for home replaced three lousy color inkjet printers that came free in packages with computers a Lexmark, a Cannon and an Epson. This printer is much more expensive than the cheap or free bee printers but it evens out in the end when you look at all the wasted time and money fiddling with dinky low volume cartridges that your lucky if you can get three 8X10 photo prints out of. One day I accidentally printed a photograph on photo paper with my HP 6122 on draft mode and it looked much better than my junky Lexmark does on photo mode. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Auxiliary Camera
I agree with other reviewers who found this to be a well-priced, but underperforming camera. I received this camera as a gift, and decided to keep it to supplement at Kodak DX6490. Of course, there's no comparison in terms of quality and performance (or price), but the standout features of the HP are worth mentioning.

First of all, this is a nice pocket camera, except that the sliding lens cover (& power switch) is altogether too easy to open. On a couple of occasions, I've downloaded pictures of the inside of my jacket pocket. Other than that, the size is right.

The camera runs through batteries like a Suburban runs through gasoline - if you buy this camera, get it with a recharger & several spares. The battery indicator on my camera is also a little fickle - I don't know that I've every seen it showing a full charge. Of course, the LCD display can be turned off to conserve battery life, etc., but it really is quite quick to consume juice.

The picture quality is excellent for the size and price. I really have no complaints with the digital zoom's quality, but its performance leaves a lot to be desired. The digital zoom is slow, and the control is unwieldy.

One other irritating feature is the USB port on the side, which is covered by a fairly rigid piece of rubber. This makes connecting the camera a two-handed operation - and it can be a little bit frustrating to try to connect it in a hurry. I imagine that the Photosmart dock would be preferable, but my DX6490 came with a dock and I'm not in a hurry to buy another.

I haven't used the software yet, since the Kodak software works so well, and iPhoto on my Mac works beautifully with both the Kodak & HP, but the rest of the HP imaging suite (image editor, scanner & print software) works pretty well when it isn't leaking memory (HP has a fix for this, but the download is huge & I can't be bothered ordering the CD).

Overall, this is a nice camera to keep in the car, in a pocket, or in a briefcase - but it's not the camera I would choose for challenging or critical photography.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Camera for Memories!
If you care about the memories of your pictures, don't buy this one. The quality of the pictures that we took on our New York City trip at Xmas is absolutely awful. You never knew if you should turn flash off or on to get a decent picture of sights. If you zoom on a person, the pictures is terrible quality, very pixely. DO NOT BUY THIS! You can do better with another $50 elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
This camera was given to our daughter (12 yrs) for Christmas. She just loves it! It even takes video clips. We did get a 128 mb SD card so she can take lots of photos or video. You also definitely need rechargeable batteries. We got some for $28 with 4 batteries (the camera only needs 2) and it only takes 15 minutes to charge. <br /><br />You can also add audio clips to each picture which you can listen to on the computer. My daughter was enamored with that feature. (A budding director)<br /><br />Great camera for the price! Highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value!
Bought this bundles with the 2175 printer/scanner/copier. So far, I am very satisfied with the purchase for the price i paid. So far, i think the camera is a great value. Only two things i dont like, which are fairly minor: The batteries, like every digitial camera, go real quick and also, i dont like that the shutter is the on/off switch. Otherwise, the HP is a great first digital camera. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Just when you thought scanning couldn't get any faster, crisper, or sleeker, along comes the new HP Scanjet 4670. This small but mighty scanner will revolutionize the way you think about scanning. Sized to fit in a drawer, briefcase, or even vertically on a bookshelf, yet versatile and durable enough to scan oversized and three-dimensional items, it’s the perfect fit for a home office, family room, or college dorm.

Everyone can find a use for this handy machine. Be more productive by converting memos, blurry faxes, and other text documents into editable text using optical character recognition (OCR) software (no more retyping!). Scan photos and documents and instantly e-mail them to family and friends without a PC. Make a photo inventory of heirlooms or other valuables. Or scan negatives and slides using a transparency adapter to create an archive of your photos.

So how do you actually scan?
For single pages, simply follow these steps:
  1. Pull the top edge of the scanner, rotating the scanner forward in the holder. The scanner can rest against the front edge of the holder.
  2. Position the item face up in the lower left corner of the holder, with the top of the item facing left. Use the media placement tabs on the holder to position the item.
  3. Return the scanner to its original position on the holder. You can see the item face up through the scanner glass.
  4. Press the Scan button.
For books and other thick materials, simply place the scanner flat.

Give mobility a whole new meaning
Now that you telecommute, your family room is more than a family room; it’s your office. Space is a valuable commodity, so the slim HP 4670 scanner is an ideal fit in both form and function. Being able to scan oversized items has been a lifesaver for those drawings you frequently e-mail to the office for approval; especially because it’s as simple as placing your scanner on the easel, scanning the drawing in sections, and letting the ArcSoft Panorama Maker software automatically and seamlessly "stitch" it together. One click of the Instant Share button and you mail the entire list of recipients at once.

When the workday ends, you place your scanner back on the bookshelf, where it’s safe and out of sight. Best of all, if you absolutely must finish those presentation transparencies on a Saturday, the HP 4670 is as mobile as you are. Just grab your scanner, transparent materials adapter, and laptop, and head to your favorite quiet spot. Whether you're sitting on the floor or in an office, the unique Scanjet technologies (high-end color separation; accurate, flattened scanning bed; and lots of other automatic color-balancing, restoration, and enhancement features) give you professional, polished results … no matter where you are.

Get the whole picture
One of the most fun and unique things you can do with your HP 4670 is create gorgeous panoramic photos (even 360° panoramas). Simply scan your image in sections and the Automatic Stitching feature in ArcSoft Panorama Maker software (included) will automatically reassemble oversized images for printing. You can combine horizontal, vertical, or tiled sets of images.

Save space
The HP 4670 is so slim it fits on a bookshelf or in a briefcase. You can store it vertically, like a book, so it’s perfect for a college dorm or a combined family room/office area. But don't let the ultra-thin design fool you: It’s made to move around and take with you. We even drop-tested the scanner from three feet! So if a sibling riot erupts, triggering an accidental fall from the table, the HP 4670 will survive unscathed.

The windowpane is tough polycarbonate plastic and tempered glass to resist chipping, scratching, and breaking.(That’s the same stuff used in many safety hardhats, motorcycle helmets, and riot shields.) The frame is secured with 12 screws (twice as many as most other scanners), and trimmed in rubber to absorb shocks. The carriage has a special mechanical design that protects the sensors and their wire bonds.

More features:

  • One-touch operation.
Four-button design makes it easy to perform common tasks:
    1. Scan
    2. Copy
    3. Instant Share
    4. Power Save
  • Six-second-preview scan
Get speedy confirmation of a successful scan! Precise image placement. Look through the see-through scanning window to "frame" and place items just where you want them.
  • Cross-platform adaptable
The HP 4670 is Windows 98-, 2000-, Me-, XP-, and Mac-compatible.
  • Complete high-speed connectivity.
Compatibility with USB 2.0 specifications allows plug-and-play installation of peripheral devices. Exclusive HP technology. Charge coupled device (CCD) scanning brings together an innovative combination of a new, thin optical system and CCD scanner technologies. CCD captures light more efficiently than other methods, and produces a grain-free print.
  • Sharpen up
Resolution is a measurement in dots per inch (dpi) of the sharpness and clarity of an image. The HP 4670 has 2400-dpi optical resolution, producing crisp, clear, vibrant images. With 48-bit color, you'll also see clear photos with brighter yellows, richer reds, and cooler blues.
  • Scan anything
The versatile HP 4670 can scan anything from books and photos to oversized items.
  • Variable orientation
An easel comes with the scanner, so you can use it vertically, horizontally, face-up or face-down, for large format or hard-to-capture items. Slides and negatives. Attach the transparent materials adapter (TMA) to capture images from slides and negatives. Use the HP Memories Disc Creator and HP Instant Share software to create and send fun--digital photo albums -- to family and friends. (The software is included.)

Included Software
The HP 4670 comes equipped with cool photo software already in place:

  • HP Photo & Imaging Software with HP Memories Disc Creator and HP Instant Share feature

2-0 out of 5 stars Great design. Unsatisfactory execution.
I am a long-time HP printer and scanner user, and I really liked the design of this scanner. Besides having a knock-out appearance, I loved that you could fold it up and put it on a shelf. However, this scanner did not meet my needs and I ended up returning it.

I bought it for two applications: scanning documents and converting them to text with OCR, and scanning old family slides. This is NOT the scanner to buy for either application. The cheap OCR software included with the scanner is virtually useless. My typewritten documents came out hopelessly garbled - it would have taken more time to correct the mistakes that it would have to re-type them from scratch. If you plan to use this scanner for documents, plan to buy a better OCR program to go with it.

As for scanning slides, the first unit I bought had a loose connection from the scanner to the slide attachment, and I had to exchange it. The second unit worked, but the scan quality was just not what I was hoping for.

I returned the HP and bought an Epson 3170 instead. It comes with a far superior OCR program, and Photoshop Elements to boot. I'm not sure the slide scanning is much, if any better. Could be I'm just asking too much from a flatbed scanner...

1-0 out of 5 stars Great human interface, awful scanner
The mission: archive old family photos before my lil' daughter tears them up.
The obstacle: very little desk space
The solution: not this.

First, the USB interface is far sub-par. Check HP's troubleshooting on their web site; their solutions to communication problems range from "use a powered USB hub" to "never use a USB hub." Very helpful. As I'm writing right now I'm hearing the USB interface bob up and down as it tries to connect with the scanner. Not working. Plus not only can you not use a hub (I tried a D-Link USB2.0 4 port), you can't connect even to the same USB bus. So unless you've got a spare USB header free from your motherboard, you probably can't connect at all (Amendment: After several hours I discovered the problem - for me, the scanner had to be on a powered hub but my Logitech USB mouse could not coexist on the same hub. Now things appear to be working since the scanner is on the hub all by itself and the mouse has been plugged directly into the workstation. Still a bad USB implementation, tho).

Image quality is so-so. Not the greatest... flesh tones are too warm. I used Photoshop, WinXP's Scanner Wizard and HP's prepackaged software - the best results being the TWAIN driver in Photoshop.

Speaking of which, the bundled software was harsh to use. For some reason it decided I wanted to scan my text documents as embedded objects in RTF's. Wha? The HP software was not good at all. The actual TWAIN Photo & Imaging Directory scanning interface was fine however - just the actually document management software was clunky.

Beautiful looking and a real space saver, but if it doesn't work well then it's just an expensive window.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice looking CRUMMY scanner
Every photo we tried had speckles/dust all over them. I had no problems with the setup or banding (as others here did) but am returning the scanner because of pure quality issues

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice to look at, poor scan quality
I have an HP Scanjet 4C that has been a workhorse for the past 4-5 years (It still works, but my new Macintosh doesn't support SCSI devices). So, in deciding on a purchase I chose HP again out of loyalty. Set-up on the 4670 was easy, the software acceptable (typical of HPs), and the scanner itself was beautiful. Unfortunately all images that I scanned were plagued with 1/2" tall bands of light and dark areas. I found no way to remedy this and was forced to return the scanner for a refund.

3-0 out of 5 stars HP 4670 Scanner
I purchased this scanner for the flexability that the form factor offered, but I was frustrated by several aspects of the design, documentation and software. 1. The scanner has a long USB cable that pulls laterally from the USB prt on your PC. If you leave it connected for any length of time or accidenty pull on the cable the port is sure to be damaged. 2. the software is junk. It's hard to figure out, crashes and gives less than perfect results. To save a scan you have to click several times and rename the file completly (it does not remember the last file name and allow to you append a number to it, you have to reenter the name completly every time.) So doing lots of scans quickly becomes a chore. The dark areas of scans have scan lines through them. 3. There is no manual. Well, there is a manual, but it's worthless. Nothing explains how to use settings and how to change them. The Arcsoft panoramic software crashes when trying to save and takes a huge amount of time to stitch high res large files. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A decent camera for the price
I recentley purchased this camera from target. I now wish I had purchased it from target.com, due to the $ 50 mail-in rebate. But, anyways the camera is a solid performer, I purchased it for taking basic everyday pictures. The 3.2 megapixels are more than enough for my photos. The zoom is the reason I bought it (15 x total zoom). I am happy with it overall. The uploading process is fairly easy too. If you plan on purchasing this camera, be sure to buy good batteries (NiMh) and a charger. You will be set to take pictures for a long time. The battery cover is very flimsy so be careful there, so you may want to buy a camera case. The internal memory is allright, but dont rely on it to store all your pictures. I also purchased the 64mb memory card and at the lowest quality you can take over 400 pictures with the card. The video mode is suprisingly decent, but don't expect to shoot whole concerts. Overall, for the price its a decent camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1800 photos in 3 months
I am an art student and I need quick shots for reference, inspiration, actual graphic work, and documentation of my other work. I have had this camera 3 months and have taken over 1800 pictures and video and I've been very pleased with it. I take it everywhere with me. It's proved itself durable.

If you invest in this camera buy rechargable batteries and extra memory. Plan on this with ANY digital or you will be unhappy with the result. I have used three other digital cameras of different MB capabilities and by different makers...the same is true with them.

This camera has a top display that is not on any other camera in this price range. Very easy to change flash/mode/quality settings without turning on back screen. A definate plus. Saves battery and time.

This camera is a little slow but it is not anything a little patience can not handle. It just takes a little getting used to. There is a setting to take several pictures quickly. I have not had the need to use this feature, but, it may help with those hard to catch quick moments if the need arrises.

The camera is also quicker if the flash is not on. Pictures do turn out better without flash and when not applicable I advise turning it off.

The colors on this camera are GORGEOUS. They are very vibrant and bright. I advise having a photoediting program however with any digital for even BETTER pictures. A small adjustment may be all the difference you need to make a picture that's too dark and useless to the best picture you took all day. Get the best out of your digital!

There are better cameras, but be prepared to pay. This is a great camera for what it is and for the money. Take it from someone whose in the visual field. Some reviewers seem very biased about this camera. Again be prepared to buy rechargable batteries and additional memory with ANY digital camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good job, HP!
I bought this camera from Target. It is a great camera. My only peeve is that the battery door is weak, and it broke while inserting batteries. I called HP and they promptly replaced the camera. I got my replacement in less than 2 days!! As far as power consumption goes, I don't use the LCD display at all. I also use NiMH rechargables, and I get about 65 pictures each charge. I use the optical zoom sparingly and transfer pictures to my computer about 3 times. I best feature about this camera is that it has a little display on the top, where you can adjust picture quality, mode and flash options. That, I guess saves a lot of battery power. All in all, a great product and I am really happy with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures fast
For those of you having problems with the batteries... We finally bought more expensive, non rechargeable batteries. Otherwise you could only take about 5 pictures, and it took FOREVER to save them. Try Energizer Litium. They worked great right up until the time someone stole it!

2-0 out of 5 stars don't get it!!!!
Don't waste the money on this camera. Pictures are great but the baterrie life is terrible...At first I didn't mind replacing the batteries because I got the rechargeable pack but things haven't changed!!! I called HP on this problem the gentalman on the phone didn't understand the problem, he told me to use photo lithium batteries I bought a pair hoping this would cure the problem but nope same old batterie sucker!!!! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars HPDeskjet 5650 Printer
I have used HP Inkjet printers for over 12 years, I am on my 4th or 5th one, I had no problems with any of them, I just moved up to newer models. I have been very happy with them & have recommended them to several of my relatives and friends who were either just getting into computing or were unhappy with another brand. When I moved to a new HP computer with Windows XP I decided to move to another printer again & decided on the HP Model 5650 advertised at something like 21ppm black & white & 16 ppm color.
Well it is the slowest printer I have ever used, it takes about a minute & a half to print the most simple b&w pages & "forever" to print color. I don't know if it is XP,or some printer problem but it's driving me crazy

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic printer
I installed my new HP 5650 on my WinXP Pro machine today without a hitch. I connected it to the paralell cable that I had been using for my old HP660c, and turned it on. It made some clicks and such for about a minute. Once it stopped, I loaded it with paper and put in the cartridges. Then it calibrated the cartridges automaticllay. That was such an excellent surprise.

Then I just put in the driver CD and followed the prompts. I shared it with my wifes WinXP Home Dell and we were printing just like that.

It's quiet and fast and best of all prints outstanding color photos from our digital camera.

We purchased a second one for my wifes office without hesitation!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent printer!!!
Simply put, this is one excellent printer and I'm glad I bought one. I don't understand some of the complaints I've read in this review section--one in particular saying something about a quality issue. I couldn't disagree more--It looks and performs like a "well-oiled machine." I finally gave away my old HP (which also served me very well) and have been using this 5650 for about six months now. No problems whatsoever. I have it hooked up to a six-year-old laptop and do mostly black and white printing in "best" mode. I am continually impressed with the quality. The color printing is equally impressive to me even without the photo cartridge. Also, the black ink cartridges are comparatively inexpensive--I believe at about (...), and last a good long time. No complaints at all here.

4-0 out of 5 stars HP 5650 Install Problem
While I think the printer is a pretty good printer, problems after installing it are annoying. I inherited my husband's hard drive which had a 5600 HP printer on it (and was using XP Home Edition). We uninstalled it before putting in the install disk for the 5650. When we went to print a test page we got several pages with a few lines of gibberish on each page. After multiple attempts of plugging, unplugging, uninstalling and installing and getting the same thing, we went on line to see if others had problems.

And they had! While they may not all be exactly the same, one person stated that switching to a USB 2.0 cable solved their problem. So while we were at Target and it was only $10, we thought a $10 possible fix (or not) was easier to swallow than spending time on line with a support person.

And it worked!! My husband swapped out the cords and turned on the computer, went to print a test page and FINALLY something that made sense printed out. Good luck!

Oh, and by the way, I've tried the extra photo cartridge and really couldn't tell enough of a difference to buy another one. Also, I get my cartridges in multipacks from Costco and it's less expensive than other places. I had the 5600 before my husband needed a new printer, so then I got the 5650. Can't really tell much of a difference (printwise between the two).

1-0 out of 5 stars Blew up my PC!
I have been a devoted fan of HP printers for years. But I installed the 5650 on Tuesday night on my Dell Dimension. Everything worked fine. On Wednesday morning my machine wouldn't boot up. I suspect it was some CD memory maker software that was bundled with the printer software. I will probably have to reintall ALL of my applications because of this.
As a side note - I did not get a printer cable or a USB cable with this printer. That's a bit tacky.
Who knows if the printer works well; I can't get my PC to function! ... Read more
