Amazon.com Product Description An optional long-life lithium-ion battery (HP model C8222A) supplies power for 350 pages per charge; with the battery installed, the printer still weighs just 4.5 pounds. HP provides a one-year hardware warranty, and full online and phone technical support for 12 months. What's in the Box Features Reviews (7)
I also have used my HP 450ci to print almost anything you can think of - text docs on regular mid-weight paper ("new" or recycled, both work fine), 8.5x11 photo paper, 4x6 photo paper, transparencies, labels, even t-shirt iron-on transfer sheets - not a single problem. Hope I didn't just jinx myself! :) Seriously though - if you're looking for a portable printer that's rugged enough to really travel, but also looks slick sitting on your desk or pulling it out of your bag in a client's office , the HP 450ci is THE way to go. IMHO. And no, I don't work for HP! I actually am not a big fan & have NOT liked some of their other products, but the 450ci hasn't let me down.
The good: Printer prints decently and quickly. Printer is pleasing in shape and compact. The bad: Printer does not handle cardstock (fairly common deficiency here) or full size photo paper. The ugly: Printer suffers NUMEROUS jams (to the point of being unuseable) - paper is pulled in approx an inch, jams, then software comms problems begin. I have seen the problem discussed in a number of online forums. This apparently is a design problem relating to the pinch plate which may have been corrected in printers made after July 2003. If you are in warranty, HP will fix the problem but if you are like me and the problem occurs after the warranty expires fixing this design defect is on you. Bottom line: Before buying: 1. Make the seller take the printer out of the box so you can check the production date (only located on the serial tag on the bottom of the printer) (how many vendors will do this?). 2. Verify that "no kidding" this design defect has been corrected. Postscript: I have been highly satisfied with every HP printer I have had until this one. This printer has not yet gone through a single complete ink cartridge and has never run card stock or photo paper. I do not want to deal with repairs so today I scavenged the ink from this one - threw away the 450CI - and installed the ink in my new HP PSC1350. The jury is out on the PSC1350 for now.
LONG TERM UPDATE: Well, as it turns out, my short term enthusiam and 5 star rating for this printer has been dashed by on going problems -- primarily paper jams. I now own two of these printers, one I use while the other is being repaired under warranty (I bought an extended warranty). Losing confidence in HP, my G85xi all-in-one just quit also (won't feed paper). Repair costs as much as a new all-in-one. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description The bottom line on the two-line display shows the menu labels for the five major menus in the calculator: Financial, Business Percentages, Statistics, Time Manager, and Equation Solver. The menu keys allow you to shift between functions. The top line shows the numbers or letters you enter and the resulting calculation. Each menu has subfunctions and built-in variables for greater complexity. A beeper sounds when you press the wrong key, when an error occurs, or when you are late for an appointment. The HP 17BII has 8,000 total bytes in RAM (6,750 bytes plus 1,250 for your built-in variables). You can monitor the available memory (both in bytes and percentages) by pressing shift-MEM. The calculator retains current functions until you press "clear data." If you accidentally shut the machine off, just turn it back on and your calculation will reappear. After 10 minutes of nonuse the calculator turns itself off, but your most recent information will still be there. The HP financial calculator interfaces with an HP infrared printer (sold separately), allowing you to print tables, lists, and payment schedules whether you are--in a meeting or on an airplane. A protective cover is included to keep your calculator dust-free. Batteries are already loaded, and the calculator is backed by a limited one-year warranty. --Dana Van Nest Features Reviews (31)
- 17BII has a bunch of built-in financial and statistical functions invaluable for CFA candidates. You can be sure that if you have 17BII on your desk in the CFA test-room you can save enough time on your quant and asset valuation questions to concentrate more on qualitative things. - It is quick and easy to use if you know the basics of finance. - Its operations manual is a corporate finace text-book in itself. Cons - Honestly, I did not like the display. Even in sharp contrast mode you see nothing unless you look directly at the calculator at the very narrow visual angle. When I prepared for my Level I CFA exam, it took me more time to SEE the result (moving my 17BII on the table) than to calculate it. - Unfortunately, it is impossible to buy 17BII here in Moscow. Can HP sales force tell me why? I got mine as a business gift from colleague in NY five years ago. Maybe he does not even know how he has facilitated my life as financial analyst. My recommendation: Strong Buy for advanced financial users. And don't waste your money if you are at high school or a fan of higher math course at MIT.
From the AIMR website: Two models of business calculator are authorized for use on the CFA examinations: the Texas Instruments BA II Plus (including the BA II Plus Professional) and the Hewlett Packard 12C (including the HP 12C Platinum when available). AIMR strictly enforces all policies with regard to calculator usage during the Chartered Financial Analyst examinations and candidates are required to abide by AIMR's policies. Your calculator will be inspected prior to the start of the examination. Your calculator must then remain on your desk in full view and proctors will continue to inspect calculators throughout the administration of the examination. Proctors are instructed to confiscate all unauthorized calculators. Failure by the proctors to detect an unauthorized calculator prior to the start of the examination, or your use of an unauthorized calculator at any time during the exam, does not imply that the calculator is an approved model or that your scores will ultimately be reported. Use of an unauthorized calculator is considered a violation of AIMR rules, regulation and policies, and may result in a professional conduct investigation with the possibility of sanctions up to and including suspension from participation in the CFA Program and voiding of your examination results.
I acquired it immediately prior to purchasing a car. The loan calculation function allowed me to compare and contrast the different loan packages, interest rates, length of loan and other variables. Want to know how much your 401 (k) will be worth when you are 59½ years old? You can select a financial calculation that will let you insert the present value, monthly contribution and years to retirement. You can then determine the dollar value assuming a return of 5%, 6%, 7% and so on. The inherent power and financial tools available in this calculator will pay for itself in a very short while. The soft cover paperback manual easily and throughly explanes all financial functions and can be read in less then 3 hours. Why hire an accountant or MBA when you can do it yourself? ... Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC replaced Pocket PC 2002 as the most current Pocket PC OS in June 2003 and comes installed on the 1945. While the version of Windows Mobile 2003 pre-installed on the iPAQ lacks a few minor applications (such as Microsoft Reader), each can be downloaded for free. Because HP left the choice to the end-user, the iPAQ File Store - unused space on the ROM - has over 13MB free for software, files, etc. As I mentioned before, the Samsung processor keeps the 1945 moving along very well. Having recently used an iPAQ 5450 (400Mhz PXA250 XScale), a Toshiba e755 (400MHz PXA255 XScale) and a Toshiba e355 (300MHz PXA255 XScale), I can say that, from a casual use point-of-view, the iPAQ 1945 surpasses the speed of the iPAQ 5450 and Toshiba e355 and feels basically on level with the Toshiba e755. One of the touted benefits of the Samsung processor is long battery life, and while I didn't get the eight hours that HP suggested I might, I got almost seven hours use out of the 1945 with the backlight on its lowest setting before I had to recharge; a very good result. There is only one real drawback to the iPAQ 1945, as I see it, and it's relatively minor and completely fixable: the 1945 ships with only a USB Sync cable, not a cradle. While some might actually prefer this, I miss not having a cradle to rest the iPAQ in while it's not in use. The good news here is that there is a cradle available (the same cradle that works with the iPAQ 1910), and you can purchase if you want it. All-in-all, the iPAQ 1945 is an amazing addition to the Pocket PC family. If you like small, light PDAs with oomph, the 1945 might be right up your alley.
My only minor complaints are 1) Non-standard headphone jack, 2) no slip case included, and 3) SD card plug . The jack has a ring of plastic around it, about two millimeters thick. I cannot figure out why HP's engineers couldn't figure out how to put in a real headphone jack, but if you're looking to use this as a multimedia device (it works well) the non-standard jack is a pain. Sound quality is really good through headphones, though. My other complaint is that they didn't include even the most basic protective cover with it. Since the nice case I've ordered won't be here for a couple of weeks, I had to run down to my local gargantuan electronics store and get a big clunky universal slip case to protect it for now, a waste of about ten bucks. Oh well. My final very tiny complaint is that rather than a hinged door, they supply a plastic filler piece for the SD card slot. I've already managed to lose mine, so now if I don't have the card in there's a gaping hole in the top of the PDA. Overall, these minor complaints don't touch the fact that this device costs less, weighs a lot less, and can run rings around my circa- 2001 ipaq. Definitly worth the money.
When using this PDA, you'll notice that the transflective screen is amazing; it's bright, uniform, and very clear; it's significantly better than any other manufacturer's Pocket PC screens. Performance gets a boost, too. The combination of the Samsung 266 MHz processor and Windows Mobile 2003 means that there are no longer any performance issues, as there were with Pocket PC 2002. Videos play smoothly, games run well, and there is no longer any sluggishness evident. The now SDIO-compliant slot and the built-in Bluetooth give decent expandability options. I wish HP had gone with built-in WiFi instead, but Bluetooth is better than nothing. Plus, you can always add an SD WiFi card later, if you want; that wasn't an option with older iPaqs. Considering how small the battery is, the 1945 lasts a pretty long time. I haven't done any formal tests, but 2.5-3 hours of reading and playing games, with the screen set to full brightness, brought the battery down to 30%. A huge bonus is the built-in backup battery and the fact that the main battery is also replaceable. Despite all the good stuff, the 1945 isn't without a few problems. The biggest one, which HP doesn't make immediately clear, is that they bundle Windows Mobile 2003 Professional edition, as opposed to the Premium edition. This means the loss of some features and programs, most notably Microsoft Reader. Fortunately, you can download and install this for free. Another pretty annoying problem, for anyone who wants to use headphones, is that the 1945 has a 2.5 mm jack, as opposed to the standard 3.5. They do include an adapter, but who wants to carry that around? The rest is really just nitpicking. HP includes 13 MB of non-volatile storage, which is really cool, but of the 64 MB of RAM that they advertise, only 56 is really available. I also didn't like the fact that they didn't include either a cradle or a protective cover. Lastly, the plastice battery cover feels a bit flimsy. It mounts on just fine, but when you take it off it feels really cheap and fragile.

Amazon.com Product Description The HP PhotoSmart 7960 features HP's exclusive photo resolution enhancement technology: HP PhotoREt Pro utilizes eight-ink printing, ultra small ink drops, true neutral grays, and photo blacks to print everything from professional color images to impressive black-and-white prints with accurate shadow detail. The eight colors come from the No. 59 gray photo cartridge with two shades of gray ink and a special photo black; from the No. 57 tri-color cartridge with cyan, magenta, and yellow; and from the No. 58 photo cartridge with photo cyan and photo magenta (the black in the No. 58 is not used for eight-color printing). Designed for PC and Mac users alike, the 7960 also offers two USB ports and four memory card slots, so you can print images directly from your digital camera. And, the built-in 2.5-inch LCD lets you preview, edit, and even remove red-eye from images before you print. The printer offers versatile paper handling through it's standard 100-sheet paper tray and built-in 20-sheet 4-by-6-inch photo tray. It also supports an optional duplexing accessory. The 7960 is backed by a one-year limited hardware warranty. What's in the Box Features Reviews (30)
Pros: The LCD display is bigger than most digital cameras and is very clear, navagation is straight forward and easy to figure out, the color range is good (considering there's "8 colors"), very easy to use. Cons: It comes with color cartridges that combine colors (CMY, Light-CMY, Grey or Black) so if you run out of one color you have to replace the whole thing. On glossy photo paper the overall color tends to be a bit darker. And at the moment it's a bit pricy compared with it's competition.

Now, I have to say it is true that, given a specific set of values, it takes the camera a while to take the picture, as the screen goes blank it is hard not to move and ruin the shot. However, it is also true that the same thing happens with the slow speeds on a Reflex, and its just a matter of practice until you get the precision you need in order not to ruin a shot, and if it never happens, you can always use a tripod! haha What can I say, if you are either a starter, or a professional amateur, stay away from this camera and go for a Sony or Canon instead, which have similar features and near same quality. If you are like me, a student who requires the best PC-friendly camera, stay with HP. I'm sure you will love it.
Started me to wonder. Pictures were fine and the learning curve was easy. AS I needed a bigger card I went ahead and purchased a 256 MG SD card after checking with HP Support. Now the strange problems start -- the camera would lock up and only unlock if batteries were removed. Pictures taken seem OK but sometimes it would say it couldn't read the 256 Mg Secure Digital Card. Then once it was rebooted it would record pictures and upload to the computer. Finally today it locked up again so I called and they want it returned for repair - as usual good service they even pay the courier. The HP rep however told me that loading pictures from a 256 MG card to a Win 2000 Operating System may not work and that I might need to get a card reader. Whoa this is getting really off base - camera goes down within two weeks and a 256 MG card may not work with my Win 2000. This is starting to get me a little upset. No mention by anyone in reviews or on the HP Support site about Win 2000 issues with this camera and 256 MG card. I have their email saying the camera will handle 256 MG; but how am I'm going to get some assurance about it always working with Win 2000. There are some issues here and I want to get at the answers.

Long and short- this scanner was set up and tested and now is going back to the store... all within about 1 hour. I didn't even bother trying the regular image scan functions, as all I'm really interested in right now is scanning negatives and slides. I'm sure the basic functions are good, as HP does have a decent rep for flatbed scans. The software installed easily though in Windows XP Pro. It did seem a bit clunky, but I didn't bother playing with it enough to let it bother me.
The software is good, but not great. It certainly doesn't have the sophistication of the Adoble Elements that come with Epson scanners, but it's fine for basic image manipulation. It seems to reset to prints with each new scan, which is inconvenient but not insurmountable for slides and negatives. For a hundred bucks, it's a great piece of hardware. And in my experience, HP equipment is MUCH more durable than Epson.

The DeskJet 5150 comes with a handy bundle of photo and imaging software, and a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Features Reviews (28)
I don't plan on using it to print photos, but I understand the cartridges switch out and you can print quality color photos. The cartridges were a bit tricky to snap in. I am comfortable with HP quality, so I didn't consider any other brands. The price seemed reasonable. Overall, I'm very happy with this printer.
I have framed a couple of color prints printed on the 5150 (on HP photo paper), as they are equal to conventional photographic printing to the naked eye. My only caveat on the photo printing is that I can't vouch for the life of the prints, so far so good, but I know that some inkjet prints fade badly over time. I am pretty hard on the 5150. Because I am in in the throes of researching and writing my Master's thesis right now, I am printing copious amounts, and running at least 500 pages a week through the 5150, and thus far have had no problems with it. The one minor and completely unanticipated, annoyance I have with the 5150 is the shelf that holds the printed sheets is too short. HP provides a rickety pull out/fold over contraption to help hold printed work, but in my experience it is inconvenient at best (it almost doubles the frontal area of the printer), and is a real space hog on my desk. Aside from that one small critique (which is the reason I gave it four instead of five stars) I think the HP 5150 is an excellent little printer at a bargain basement price. ... Read more
