4-0 out of 5 stars Does the job
I've been using this adapter to share an internet connection with my computer in my Basement. Upstairs I have a laptop and it's great to be able to move it around the house without loosing connectivity. While the adapter works fine, I was less happy with the connection sharing software included with it - yet another thing to start at boottime that sits in your little system tray. It was not very configurable and I had weird issues where I would have to restart brower windows and the like. I ended up disabling that software and using different sharing software (...) and everything has been working great. One annoying thing is I can't put the laptop to "sleep" and have it wake up and use the thing, you have to reboot. At the time I bought it (little over a year ago) they didn't support win2K except with some beta drivers that I used and have been working fine for me for over a year.

One caveat - since I bought this over a year ago I would hope that Intel has improved the software some. For my purposes it's been ideal, though.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not bad at first.... but...
I purchased the Intel Anypoint 1.6MB wireless USB for the desktop and PC card for the laptop. Currently use digital cable Internet. This wireless network uses the same type of 2.4Ghz system that wireless phones use.
Setup was flawless on the desktop. Laptop took a little support from the Intel web page. It seems that this system and Mcafee VirusScan has some conflicts that have to be adjusted by the user. After that, everything worked great.
I can see and access the other computer's drives with ease. Internet downloads requested from the laptop go from the Internet, through the desktop, through the air from the desktop's adapter, and received by the laptop's adapter.
I took my laptop outside and reception was still excellent. I would estimate that I could go 60 ft in open space or 40 feet through walls and still get excellent reception.
If you are looking for a lower cost home networking system that is wireless, this would be a good one for you.
I do recommend something faster that 56k for Internet though...56k on one computer is bad enough. Imagine sharing it between two or more computers on the same network. Yuck!

Revised-

I got tired of dealing with the problems and sold them. 1 desktop device and 1 laptop device. The network would stop connecting every time I would install some new software like Netscape 6.1, IE6.0, Office 2000 pro, and JDK1.3.1. Three time I had to unistall....remove devices...delete left over files and reinstall. I also used the new software that you can download from the intel site....

when it was working, it was great.... excellent internet access from my laptop and file swapping was easy.... But, once it went down...you are in trouble.... I got tired of it....so tired that I got rid of it for good. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very basic
I received this free with Microsoft Office 2000. For a freebie, it's decent, but I wouldn't pay for it.

The picture is small, and of bad quality. Sure, the camera is cheap, but the quality is really below average. I have trouble with the colour - it can vary between very dark to very light (without changes in the light of the room!) and sometimes has a green or blue tinge.

If I were you, I think I'd save up some more and buy one of a bit better quality. The Intel Pocket PC Camera Pack may cost more, but it is definitely of much better quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars The cheapest little camera you'll ever love
When I upgraded to Win. XP the first thing it decided not to accept was my PC Cam. It was close to christmas time and I had spent a bundle and was looking for an inexpensive camera that would just be compatable with XP until after the holidays when I was sure I'd find a bargain. That was four months ago. I am so impressed with what this little cam can do that I havent bothered to look any further. Part of what I like about this cam is the software that allows you to make video postcards, AVI videos to send through email and the photo storage. it's a great camera for the price and very campatable with Win XP I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best camera under 50$
I love this camera! Let me start by saying that I have had expiriences with other PC Camera's under 100$, and they were all dissapointments. This was the only Camera I was satisfied with (at that price), and I'll tell you why. With other camera's the lighting was always off. For instance if a light in the room was on, then the camera would appear very bright, and if it was dark in the room, You couldn't see anything. Although with this camera it uses new lighting technology, so that it senses the light in the room, and workes with it so that you get the best lighting you can get, and I think that that was the greatest advantage this this camera had over the others.

2-0 out of 5 stars easy to set up, but the pictures are bad
I got this with my computer and used it for about a year until I got a new camera. This camera was easy to set up, but the picture quality is horrendous. If picture quality isn't a big deal to you, the Intel Easy PC Cam pack will work for you; but if you like having quality images, save your money and invest in a better webcam (like the Intel Pocket PC Cam).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great bang for the buck
If you can find one of these you won't be disappointed. The video is crisp and clear and, unlike some webcams, sending video does not slow your computer to any noticeable degree. Installation is simple and the swivel mount makes aiming easy. One small problem - the camera does not work with CUSeeMe software for some reason. But it works great with NetMeeting, Paltalk, Yahoo, ICUII that I know of. They are tough to find - don't know if they are out of production or what. Far better than several others I've tried. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT
This was a very easy product to use. It connects easily (without taking the computer apart) to the paralell port, the software was quick to install (our "old" computer has Windows 98 on it) and set-up of the network was painless and effortless. We now have easy access to our "new" computer, printer and two people can be on the Internet at one time. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very loud fan
Given that the range of 802.11a is not that great this Access Point can not be hidden away in a closest. This Access Point has a fan.The fan is very loud and annoying. The Access Point does look good.I think they were going for form over function.Much of the Access Point is hollow so that allows the fan to resonate. The thing is like a big speaker. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Intel Wireless Series Gamepad - not for xp professional
This item is a great idea, however it does not install on windows
xp professional, even though the intel faq says it does. The intel customer support says that there are major problmes with the mouse, keyboard and gamepad (they only list the minor problems on there compatibility faq)), they dont bother to tell you that they do not work at all on many peoples xp professional

However if you have 98,me,xp home, or 2000 professional(wow 2000 pro and not xp pro) then buy this product, it is an awesome gamepad and can function as a mouse that doesnt even need a surface to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well built and functional
This game pad is not only beautiful to look at and hold but is very functional as well. The mouse function is perfect for playing 3D video games such as American Mcgee's Alice and Clive Barkers Undying. It can be programmed to be both a mouse and a keyboard at the same time! The response rate is fantastic and the wireless freedom is outstanding! This pad is very durable and should last for years as long as you don't abuse it to badly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This item is super-cool and works perfectly for me. This is one of the few devices where I just inserted the CD, pushed a button, and it worked. The software that configures the gamepad to push various key combinations on your keyboard worked perfectly and was easy to understand and operate. The gamepads feel good, respond quickly, and are studded with lots of buttons. Only when playing MAME Joust did I have a problem, the gamepad trigger was not fast enough to flap the wings. I just changed to button A and everything worked fine. I went out and bought a four player race car game and am trying to buy two more controllers now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Wireless Gamepad
The gamepad works well. The range on this baby is more then advertised (3 yards)...it worked even when I went downstairs to test its distance. Installation was a breeze and installation guides were helpful. I have WinXP Prof, drivers are available from intel's website, however no software utilities are available as of this review for XP. The feature to use the gamepad as a mouse is surprising and cool. Though I would rather use a mouse, but hey, if your on the coach with this thing, then it works really well...even right-clicking.
Gamepad design is great, though before buying it I thought it was weird and some reviews seems that point that out...perhaps maybe for some games after long hours, but what gamepad doesn't?
Only thing wrong is that the button to enable the mouse feature is in a bad spot that is sometimes pressed accidently during a game, which makes it turn into a mouse cursor..but nothing to concern yourself about.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reliable, works as advertised
I purchased the gamepad, base station, & keyboard several months ago. I had to call Tech Support because my D-pad kept falling off. They really didn't have an answer, so I returned it & got another one. It did the same thing, so I carefully super-glued it on. After that, it has worked great. I use my TV as a monitor & sit on my couch & surf the internet with it. So the range is great & it does not need line of sight. It seems to work well as a gamepad, although I only have one and haven't experimented with using more at once. One drawback is that you must work with your mouse properties to get it to move quickly enough as a mouse. Another is that the Windows XP upgrade is not very good. The mouse LCD picture isn't supported, along with many other features. So if you're already using XP, I would definitely think twice about buying this until they release a full driver package. ...
