4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun
This camera was all I expected and more. I was lookong for a PC camera to use for teleconfrencing and purchased this item because of its additional remote capabilities. It takes exellent snapshots outdoors and I have experienced no "low light" problems either on my computer or away. I have used it both on the soccer field and the golf course with exellent results. It has no zoom features so distant shots are not possible and the video clips are quite small. In terms of range, it does a good job of recording a golf swing but will not reach the middle of a soccer field to idenify individual players faces. It records great close up face shots with exellent color and brightness. The software which comes with it allows for picture "touch up" and is easy to use. This thing is small (fits in your pocket), easy to use, durable, and fun. The software is simple and has caused no problems with my Windows ME at all. The only improvement I would make in this product is to add a zoom lens. With manufacture's rebates you can buy the thing for well under $100.00. You'll love it. Buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars it was realy nice
2 weeks ago i purchased the intel digital camera with my friend after reading the customer review it's realy a helpful way, i found the camera very helpful and realy nice, the pics was in high quality resolution, it can take a good images at low light conditions, the movie is quite small but it's still helpful in some applications, but the drawback is the 10 seconds vedio, u cann't take the whole 2 min vedio in one file, the software is so wonderful , but i faced a strange problem, i didn't find the camera software in the suuplied CD, so i turned it back and get the right one, be sure to check the cd's come with the camera all i can say is it's great camera with a great price also, don't waste your time if u want to share pics with your family and friends

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Camera, worth every cent.
The Intel Pocket PC Camera is a great camera to own. I find the quality to be AMAZING. Sure it has no flash, but that's one thing i can live without seeing as to how i have ANOTHER camera with a flash that i use for backup. Anyhow, the CCD Sensor is probably the best thing about it. CMOS sensor cameras are usually [bad]and you can't see colors in shady areas (non-lit areas). The intel is very easy to operate and anybody could figure it out. The software is wonderful and the webcam is too. This whole camera is a great buy...the pictures will blow you away, just like it did to me. I have the rare black one so it looks less childish, heh. :o)

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy & Inexpensive Dual Camera!
what i needed was something simple, inexpensive but not cheaply made. i didn't really need megapixels because i post most of my photos on the web, so i prefer them to be a smaller size. the intel pocket pc camera fulfilled my needs.

this camera is a GREAT BUY if you want smaller images @ 640x480. it's compact and easy to take everywhere. downloading the pics is easy as a click away with its software. plus, it makes a great webcam so you can have video chats with friends on the 'net. also, webcam stills are very good quality!!

DO NOT BUY this camera if you want a camera that takes HQ images. there is no zoom and no flash, which is a setback because i can never take pictures at night. also, when objects are not in good lighting, images tend to be grainy and blurry. otherwise, images are usually sharp and clean during the day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sample pix - Intel Pocket PC digital camera
GREAT performance for the money. Don't expect professional results however - at least 1.3MPx digitals needed then. Perhaps however best view as a great tethered camera that, as a bonus, can go "walkabout" when needed. Nothing else noted (at the price) with such esteemed CCD sensors... el cheapo digitals usually are CMOS based that flare badly in uneven lighting. Minor negatives (pun !)include slight delay after pushing shutter ... sometimes leading to blurred images, only modest depth of field when used free ... seems optimised around 2m "portrait" distance, & occasional non clicking into place of the focus ring. Strong positives include HUGE pix. capacity (120+ shots), non volatile RAM ( nothing can get lost ), amazing battery life (still on original AAAs after 6 weeks )& outstanding software when tethered ( becomes USB powered & even allows time & motion triggered security shots /webcam etc). Macro features,(focuses to ~50mm = 2") when USB tethered to PC, are A1 & espec. useful for close ups of tiny electronic/ biology goodies etc. EDUCATORS- every such classroom should have one! Virtually up with Intel's blue "Play" USB PC microscope we also use in fact - that too is now going cheaply. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Intel name may not immediately spark the interest of music aficionados, but with the introduction of its Pocket Concert portable MP3 player, that's sure to change. The Pocket Concert's 128 MB of memory doubles the capacity of most players without costing any more money. Combine that value with excellent sound quality and a well-designed, easy-to-use interface, and you've got a formidable contender.

We ran a simple setup program to install all of the Pocket Concert's drivers and software applications. The player connects to the PC's USB port for a fast transfer of files, and it is compatible with Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 2000. We appreciated the Intel Audio Manager's simple interface for transferring files to the player, as well as the powerful MusicMatch Jukebox Plus software that let us rip music from CDs and create playlists as well as transfer files.

With a sleek, rounded, polished-aluminum body, this lightweight player fit comfortably in our hand or fastened onto our belt or bag with the removable clip. The player's solid-state flash memory makes it completely impervious to shocks and jolts, so it's ideal for using while jogging or working out at the gym.

We had no trouble reading the large, backlit LCD, which shows song titles and playback options, including the status of the unit's two AA batteries. The scroll wheel on the side of the unit made it easy to select tracks and set bookmarks as well as control random and repeat modes, bass, and treble. Simply press the button on the other side of the unit to turn on the built-in FM radio, and then use the scroll wheel to tune to your favorite station or manage the 10 preset stations.

The unit's 128 MB of flash memory storage translates into two to four hours of music, depending on the compression ratio and file type. (The Concert supports both MP3 and the more highly compressed WMA files.) The unit's memory capacity isn't upgradable, but to anyone who's used 64 or 32 MB players, 128 MB will feel like decadent luxury.

The Pocket Concert plays its crystal-clear digital audio through a pair of "neckphone" headphones, which have a dark blue headband that clips over your ears and swings around the back of your head. Though they're considerably bulkier than the ear-bud style headphones found with most MP3 players, we were impressed by the full, rich sound and found the secure fit good for exercising.

Intel got practically everything right with the Pocket Concert Player. A large display and well-designed controls make it a pleasure to use, the neckphone headphones provide excellent sound, and the included software is easy-to-use and powerful. And, most important, they've broken the memory barrier, offering a 128 MB unit for the same price as comparable 64 MB units. --Ken Feinstein

Pros:

  • 128 MB of memory translates to 2 hours of near-CD-quality audio
  • Easy-to-use design with clear display
  • Excellent sound quality

Cons:

  • No AC adapter included
  • Memory not expandable

Special Note: The optional Intel Pocket Concert Audio Accessory Kit comes with two rechargeable NiMH batteries and a docking station for recharging the batteries as well as for hooking the unit up to your stereo system. It also includes a carrying case and car cassette adapter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A cut above the rest
The Intel Pocket Concert was my third MP3 player in a week. Yes, you read that right. The problems I had with the Rio 600 and the Kazoo made me very leery of low-end MP3 players, so I decided to hit the big time and pony up for the Intel Pocket Concert (aka IPC).

I'm very glad I did. The IPC is a superior product, delivering excellent sound quality and portability with fewer hassles than any piece of electronic equipment I've ever owned. I especially like these features:

* full-bodied, rich tone

* wide range of sound levels, from barely-there to ear-blasting

* comfortable, high-quality headphones that don't leak sound

* large built-in memory

* tiny enough to fit into a purse pocket

* supplied Musicmaker software easy to use

* aluminum case sturdier than cheap plastic

The only real quibble I have about the IPC is that its FM reception is abysmal. Purchasers in desperate need of a good FM receiver should look elsewhere.

It's also not easy to find the accessory pack in Canada (even at shops selling the IPC) - and retailers who sell the accessory pack online (including amazon.com, oddly) won't ship it to Canada. Outback.com will ship the accessory pack along with the IPC, but not separately! Lord knows why this is the case, but fill yer boots, there it is. Canadians should either buy the accessory pack separately at Amazon and have it shipped to a US address, or buy the IPC bundled with the pack from an online retailer like outback.com. (The accessory pack includes rechargable batteries and a dock/recharger, as well as a car converter and a carrying case.)

But these are quibbles. The Intel Pocket Concert delivers superior sound (superior to most home stereo units, in my opinion) and a large memory with small size and durability. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Intel Pocket Concert is truely an exceptional product!
Everything about this MP3 player screems Buy Me! The sound quality is just excellent. It truely has a noticeable sound difference from any other high end MP3 players out there. It all comes from the High Output Amplifier with the ability to push up to 11mW , twice as much power as most players. The sounds being played will have very low distortion and background noise due to the Signal-to-TDN+N=0.4%. So all your hear is a crisp and clear sound. If thats not enough they also add an FM turner that allows you to save 10 presets. One couldn't believe how good the reception was, It feels like listening to the radio in the car. With this MP3 player space is most certaintly not an issue. This 97g lightwieght packs a hefty 128MB, which is over 4 hours of music. Thats alot of music, and it can all be transfered over its high speed USB connection! This MP3 player is most definitely worth every cent. Intel gave it the perfect name because it truely is a concert that can fit with in your pocket.

2-0 out of 5 stars Really bummed!
I had this player for a couple of months (4) when the headphone jack went out on me. Intel gladly returned it. One year later, the exact same thing happened. Even tho the warranty had expired, I felt this was a major "flaw" and they should help me out. I called customer support and because they no longer make these, there is no support. I LOVED the thing while it worked...

2-0 out of 5 stars Great product with a fatal flaw
In every regard but one this is the best player on the market. Sound quality and volume, product design, firmware and software are all excellent.

The flimsy earphone jack has broken on 2 units I have owned - rendering the player completely useless. The sealed case makes repair impossible.

5-0 out of 5 stars So sad to see it go.
I had the Intel Pocket Concert for about a year, and I think that it has honestly spoiled me for any other player. The price really can't be beat for what you get. The sound quality is excellent - though the headphones it comes with are terrible. It's light enough for jogging, though the belt clip doesn't work well with shorts. FM reception is fine for any strong stations in your area. For me, the best part was how durable it was. I really didn't take very good care of it, and it held up to all kinds of abuse.

Finally, I dropped it out of my gym locker, and the headphone jack came loose (which seems to be a common issue). Although Intel has discontinued the product, they were quick to offer me a full refund (full refund!). If I hadn't already thrown away the recharging cradle, I would pick up another one in a heartbeat. I haven't yet seen a player that can match it on both features and price. My only serious gripe might be that the power switch has three settings, and it is very hard to switch from HOLD to ON without jumping straight to OFF. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Probably one of the easiest PC video cameras to install, the Create and Share Camera Pack will have you creating digital videos, conferencing with friends and family, and sending still images through e-mail in no time. Don't worry if you're technology-shy, this camera is made so that even the most extreme technophobe can figure it out.

To set up the Create and Share Camera Pack, we just plugged our camera into the USB port on the back of our computer, turned it on, loaded the software and the install took care of the rest. The manual was incredibly easy to follow, with large print, nice illustrations, and well-divided sections for quick reference. After the software is installed, you can choose to take a tour of it or explore on your own. We found that the software was intuitive enough to just jump right in.

The camera is so small and light, that if you don't permanently mount it in place, it will move around. However, once you secure the camera, it is easy to adjust with both pan and tilt. You can adjust variable lighting settings and a manual focus if the picture isn't quite right. The video looks sharp and surprisingly clear and stays in focus from various distances. Make sure you have at least 28.8 Kbps modem, so that you receive clear, unchoppy video--anything slower won't be worth your time.

Aside from videoconferencing, Intel provides a number of other applications for the camera. You can send e-mail postcards, play camera games that let you interact live with the game on the screen, create and edit your own movies, or build your own Web page. One of the perks that sets Intel's package apart from the rest is the Create and Share's additional software that you can send to a friend or family member with whom you want to videoconference. Even if they don't have a camera themselves, it will enable them to see and hear you. For the novice videoconferencer, this package is a great deal, with just enough user-friendly software to make it a worthwhile investment.

Pros:

  • Nice, clear video
  • A great sampling of user-friendly software
  • Adjustable camera
  • Easy to install

5-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and maintence free
I have had this cam for about 3 years (actually bought 2 b/c I enjoyed the first so much, not a whole lot of tweeking and so on) good software, good support should you need it. Buy it you won't regret it. Great for a entry - mid level cam.

1-0 out of 5 stars BAIT & SWITCH from Heiu Nguyen
Bought the Intel ICS2USB Create-and-Share Tethered Camera and was shipped the older version - Intel PC camera pack from the year 2000 that retails for $59.99-$79.99 NEW, not the $114 that was paid. The guy (Heiu Nguyen)tried to say that the camera I got was actually better than the one I ordered, but that he would graciously allow Me to keep it because of his mistake on shipping the wrong item!!! When what he really needs is to get rid of the old, outdated version that intel no longer sells on their official website.

5-0 out of 5 stars Number One PC Camera Choice
The camera and the accompanying software are first rate. I especially like the Scene Recorder, with its ability to take snapshots and record videos. Please note that you can record sounds, such as your voice, with the videos. And most importantly you can Trim them. Videos are saved with extension AVI. You can use a Publish tool to compress an AVI file to Internet streaming format with extension IVS. Microsoft IE 5.0 browser can display both types of files on the Internet. Intel also makes the IntelPlay QX3 Computer Video Microscope. It has magnifications 10x, 60x, and 200x. You can have the most fun possible with two computers side by side: one with the Create and Share Pack Camera and the other with the Microscope Camera. Set up a Live View on the display of the pc with the microscope. Hand hold the Create and Share camera, and point it at the microscope Live View on the other pc. Speak into a microphone and record a video with your voice on the pc with the Create and Share Pack. An AVI silent video file recorded with the IntelPlay Camera can be compressed using Create and Share Publish. Use Create and Share NetCard to send a message with an AVI video recorded with either the Create and Share Camera or the IntelPlay Microscope Camera. I am looking forward to a chance to use the IntelPlay Microscope to generate the video seen in a Video Phone sender view.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is THE Camera
You can't go wrong with a package like this one. Not only do you get a camera that takes pictures and does video conferencing, but you get a web site program, audio recording (which is quite good), and other extras that make this package worth the money. It's easy to set up and easy to use! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Intel MP3 player review
Sound quality: excellent
Ease of use: excellent
Software: Musicmatch is state of the art, transfer software is good, transfer time for 64 MB of MP3 music can be several minutes. Use of USB cable is now universal, but future design with "firewire" could really speed transfer rates.
Battery Life: My son had previosly purchased CD/MP3 player from different company, and battery life was only 1-2 hours. This solid state device has roughly 10 hr on single AA battery.
Family acceptance: originally purchased by techie Dad, now fully appreciated by my wife and two teenagers, (four thumbs up).
Worst feature: supplied headphones, while sound quality is OK, comfort and fit were not acceptable. Purchased 4 different styles of Sony headphones (earbuds, open air, h-ear, and street-style) all which were superior, more comfortable, but no family concensus on specific model.
Best feature: Combination of built in 64 MB memory and use of multimedia card memory. I was on-line to purchase 64 MB sandisk cards today..., which will double music capacity, and allow for music library collection for longer trips.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic MP3 player--small, light, easy to use
I just got the player a few days ago, and I have to say it's fantastic. I was thinking about getting the other Intel player--the one with 128MB built in, but I think that the PAP is better. It comes with 64MB of installed memory (enough for about an hour of music (it's really like 61MB of free space b/c of resident software that takes up space)), and has room for an MMC card (up to another 64 MB). It is about 2/3 the size of the Pocket concert.

It is extremely light, and comes with a belt clip that is pretty sturdy. Also, the USB connection is very fast--I'd say that songs on average take 20-30 seconds to upload.

The volume is more than adequate--and the earbud headphones sound great. There is also an equalizer that allows you to up the bass and treble levels.

Couple of negatives: Cannot transfer songs from the player back to the computer. Song names don't appear on the player. The faceplates are quite ugly (unless you're a 13 year old girl), so I don't use any faceplates. But the faceplate cover seems a little flimsy--like it would be easy to pop off. That hasn't happened yet, but I just sometimes wonder...

Also, given that Intel just announced that they're no longer going to sell their consumer electronics, I'm wary of future customer support. But based on my experience over the past few days, I highly recommend this player, and think it is great for anyone looking for a small, portable MP3 player.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
got this 3 years ago. very happy with the 10 hours of use on 1 AA. i have dropped it a couple of times, cover comes off which helps lessen the impact and i put the cover back on and all is well. software is musicmatch which works well and it supports all the formats i am aware of WMA, MP3,MP3Pro and WAV. small and light enough i take it when i travel and run. my only quip is the memory size, but it offers expansion with the MMC which is cheap enough these days. overall, excellent product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Miles ahead with PAP3000
I am an endurance athlete, and my Intel Audio player has joined me for hundreds of miles on trails, roads, trainers, and gyms. I am very pleased with the performance, durability, ruggedness, and easy of use. When compared to many other MP3 players, this was by far the most robust. I clip it to my waistband and onward I go. The life expectancy of most of my running radios are less than a year, so I was nervous about the investment. A typical failuer is the headphone jack, or getting wet, or dropped too many times. For well over a year, training for 4 marathons and an Ironman, it has stood all the punhishment I can deliver it.

Pros
Robust Design
Simple Operation
Great Sound
Battery Life

Cons
Buttons, can be tough, but robust

Overall, if you want an MP3 player capable of keeping up with an active lifestyle. This is a great choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rugged little player
I have had this player for a year or two, and it is one of the best players out there (or used to be out there) for the price. I have dropped mine more than once, on hardwood floors, even asphalt, and it still plays like brand new. Another good feature of this player is that it supports WMA's (unlike iPod) which is essential if you subscribe to music services like Napster 2.0, Liquid Audio, MusicMatch etc. It also includes something that many big memory players (and all hard-drive players) don't include which is expandable memory w/ MMC chips. But the fact that they have discontinued almost all support and you cant buy replacement parts ANYMORE is a down side. But I have not needed to use their online help almost ever. Another thing that makes this player unique is the abbility to change the appearance, and the program included to make your own face plates. All in all, a very good player. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great buy!
I saw a previous rating, stating that it isn't such a good camera for windows xp/2000, not true. I am running Windows XP, and it can do anything I would need it to, it works fine, and if you want that software anyway, you don't have to BUY it, you can get it free if you have the camera, and while you wait for this unecessary software, you can be surfing the web, and doing most anything you want with it, it works fine without the stuff. And this camera works quite amazingly. quite good reselution and color with adjustable focus, makes it good enough already, not to mention that it works very well in low light conditions. And it really isn't hard to use:
1.Plug into USB port
2.Use
So, I rate this camera quite exceptional for good quality and price, with much simplicity to use as most common people would.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crystal Clear Pictures
I just purchased the Intel Delux PC Cam from this site and I was very excited about it. I have a boyfriend and a best friend who live out of state, so I thought this camera would be a good thing while talking to them on the computer. At first I was a little distraught to find out that the CD did not come Windows2000 compatiable. Since the CD didn't work on my computer, all I had to do was go to the Intel site and download the program for free... no big deal. The only complaint I had was that it took FOREVER for me to be able to connect to the site to download it, and it took about an hour to download. But once it did, it was relatively easy with the step-by-step installation process. It was easy to understand how to work the programs when I got it started. Talking on netmeeting is only as good as the price you pay for it, but I must say the pictures in the snapshot section come out crystal clear! They are very amazing snapshots along with clear videos. I definitely reccomend this product to someone who doens't want to pay too much for a camera, but doens't want to get anything too cheaply made.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome starter cam...
I bought this camera in 2001 when it was $70 and it has not failed me yet. It's very small (fits in your palm) and has a detachable stand which you can stick to a table or on top of your computer. You can record short movies with sound. The software is awesome and I have yet to try out the post card feature among other things (no image editing).

The only down side is it is not portable and once in a while, the color is "off" depending on the lighting.

Definitely worth the price!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best buy!
This is probably the best buy you can find anywhere. For the price, this particular webcam is a steal. It comes with a bundle of software for video editing, snapshots, and several other softwares conveniently stored on two CD's. This could also turnout as a great gift for those loved ones who are far away from you. The resolution was amazing and it works wonders for single people looking for online webcam chats! Since I bought this product five of my friends have followed my example. Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Its great ......
I bought this Camera a year back and worked really great for w98. Unfortunaltly not compatible with to WXP. I hope Intel is supplying this camera with added drivers for XP. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use.
Using this product was my first experience with networking 2 home computers. Installation is easy if you have a little bit of basic computer knowledge. I have a cable modem connection and the service is just as fast on the client pc as it is on the server pc. The only problem I've encountered is that the server pc occasionally loses the network connection and both computers must be restarted. But I think this is a problem with the computer itself and not the wireless networking. I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants an easy way to network their computers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product - Easy to load and set up
I too, feel that I must be one of the lucky ones who have had absolutely no problems with this product. Set up and use was very easy and I have had no corruption problems. My "server" is a Dell 8100 and my "client" is a Dell Latitude CPi (using the Laptop PC Card). I have been using the wireless network for three months without any issue. I would recommend / re-buy this product without hesitation.

1-0 out of 5 stars anypoint what is the point
I purchased anypoint to network a notebook with an OS of windows me to my desktop with an OS of XP. Installed great on the notebook but not on the desktop. Would not accept the drivers. The last message I got was Blackice defender. I have no idea what that means. But at the end of the day I would not have bought this product as I have had to reload XP on my new system.

Waste of time and money

Unfortunatly I had to rate this as one star as I could not submit this without a star

1-0 out of 5 stars Installation Was Easy-- the Only Easy Thing
I ended up returning these because of corruption problems. Tech support was very limited-- and they had disconnected the 800 number. I could see why considering the amount of time I spent troubleshooting the little darlings. They probably had more in phone bills than their profit on each unit.

There were horrendous compatibility problems with simple software-- problems the like of which I had not seen since Windows 3.11. The proxy server did not work. Finally, Windows 98 ended up with corrupt VXD files on both computers I had networked, and that was the final straw.

Can anyone recommend a good wireless networking device?

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Intel home networking solution
I can see many reviewers are frustrated because they encounetred software compatibility issue, I think I am one of the lucky people who enjoy this product. Easy installation and home networking is just in minutes. No problem with my compaq presario pc (Win 98)and HP pavillion (Win Me). Although I see problem on my compaq pc when I try to shutdown, over all, it's great product especially when you have tried others networking product, the intel software is absolutely excellent ! ...

We ran a simple setup program to install all the Pocket Concert's drivers and software applications.

The player's solid-state flash memory makes it impervious to shocks and jolts, so it's ideal for using while you're jogging or working out at the gym.

We had no trouble reading the large, backlit LCD, which shows song titles and playback options, including the status of the unit's two AA batteries. The scroll wheel on the side of the unit made it easy to select tracks and set bookmarks, as well as control random and repeat modes, bass, and treble.

(The Concert supports both MP3 and the more highly compressed WMA files.) The unit's memory capacity isn't upgradable, but to anyone who's used 64 MB or 32 MB players, 128 MB will feel like decadent luxury.

The Pocket Concert plays its crystal-clear digital audio through a pair of "neckphone" headphones, which have a dark blue headband that clips over your ears and swings around the back of your head. Though they're considerably bulkier than the earbud headphones found with most MP3 players, we were impressed by the full, rich sound and found the secure fit good for exercising.

(Note: This version of the Pocket Concert also includes the Intel Audio Accessory Kit, which features a docking station, car cassette adapter, carrying case, and rechargeable batteries.)

Intel got practically everything right with the Pocket Concert Player. A large display and well-designed controls make it a pleasure to use; the neckphone headphones provide excellent sound; and the included software is easy to use and powerful. Most important, they've broken the memory barrier, offering a 128 MB unit for the same price as comparable 64 MB units. --Ken Feinstein

Pros:

  • 128 MB of memory translates to 2 hours of near-CD-quality audio
  • Easy-to-use design with clear display
  • Excellent sound quality
Cons:
  • No AC adapter included
  • Memory not expandable

5-0 out of 5 stars Great MP3 player!
So there I was staring at the remains of my old Diamond Rio after my dog destoyed it... How did he know I had an Air Supply song on there? Anyway I shopped around and the Intel MP3 player seemed to be the best value. I also like that it was software upgradeable and I figured I could trust Intel to stand behind their product and actually deliver on the upgrades. (I base this on the fact that I just downloaded a flash upgrade on my five year old Intel motherboard from their web site.)

So far so good. I use it everyday and have had no problems and the sound quality is execellent. Way better than my Rio which sounded tiny. I even hooked it up to my stereo and blasted the dog with bad rock music from Finland.

The interface is easy to use and the bundled software is pretty decent. I can also afford to listen to better quality music now that I have 128MB and it still holds 4X as many songs as my old player. I don't use the radio feature that much but it seems to work fine. It feels solid and well built and has survived a drop from my desk at work without any problems. I know plenty of people who have nothing but hassle with their players so I think I made the right choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good All-Around Player- a few quirks though
I shopped around for an MP3 Playe rfor awhile, and this one seemed the best bet for the money- as far as the car hook-up and stereo hook-up, among other things. It's worked great for me so far, with the only feature I don't like at all is being able to manipulate the songs once they're on the player. You can't change the track order, or move songs from the player to a computer. The Intel program basically sucks, but MusicMatch is okay as long as you know how to use the software. And that stupid blinking light on the charger... Anyway- a handy product overall. The interface is easy to use, and it's nice and tiny, but very strong. I've enjoyed it a whole lot.

1-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE!!!!
I bought this product a year and a half ago and so far have had to cash in on the warranty 3 times to get a replacement player. This was not after hard use- more like taking it to the gym 3 or 4 times. This product is a lemon- no wonder Intel is getting out of the business!

1-0 out of 5 stars "Volume increase" button failed-- no support
As others have mentioned in their reviews of this product, the buttons fail; mine was the "volume increase" button. I contacted support and was immediately told this problem required replacement; Intel is well aware of the problem. However, when we determined I bought the unit 14 months ago (12 month warranty), I was refused support beyond instructions on how to take the unit apart and fix it myself. After experiencing their level of support, and reading others' comments in support of my experience, I strongly recommend against buying this item.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warranty= 12 months / Life expectancy= 14 months
I bought this relatively expensive toy for my sons birthday, only to have it completely fail after fourteen months. Intel's support tells me "unfortunately we do not offer an extended warranty on this product. If you would like to try to fix it yourself...." Prior to this I was told there was no way to fix it and it would have to be replaced. I recommend against buying their product. ... Read more

Tech Talk
Hyper-Threading: A Hyper-Threading processor helps a PC to run multiple demanding applications at the same time. This technology enables the processor to execute two threads (a part of a program) in parallel, boosting performance during key high-drain procedures. This results in more efficient software performance (such as faster reaction times in gaming applications) and enhanced multitasking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sony VAIO PCV-RZ56G
My god this computer is probably the most powerful one out there. Listen up people if you love to take pictures and love editing them but think that it is getting too hard on your old computer? This is the one to go with. It has digital editing software that you can transfer your pictures from your memory stick (Sony) and see them on your desktop. This is running at Pentium 4, 3.4GHz Processor. That is the fastest processor out for Windows so far. I bought this computer a couple of months ago and I am enjoying every second of it. I have high speed internet and it probably goes to the website in one or two seconds! If you do a lot of word processing you should get Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 because this computer doesn't come with any good software. Some things I love about this computer is the RAM. 1024GB RAM is a huge amount and the Hard Drive is 250GB which is also humungous. The DVD+RW is the best thing to have. If you have kids who play around with your DVDs or pets that drool all over them. With a DVD Burner you can record a DVD onto another disc so it stays in good shape. But don't go to video rental stores and burn any DVDs because the police will fine you huge amounts of money. I have three of these systems with 21" Flat-Panel display from Sony too. That's the only thing you really have to buy is a display. Sony makes the best displays. I have everything from Sony. And I think you should start too. This computer will probably last you 10-20 years, if you keep it in good shape.

Speed: 10/10

Storage: 10/10

Software: 8/10

Graphics: 10/10

Some people shouldn't buy this computer because they don't use it that much.

P.S. This computer comes with Hyper Threading technology which is when you can run more than one thing at once without slowing down your computer at all. This is one of the best things computers come with these days. For this price you can't deny how good this computer is.

5-0 out of 5 stars An incredible machine
This computer will pretty much blow away any other computer you can buy. Well, if you look around real hard, you might find a custom built computer with tweaked memory settings, but it won't be as stable and reliable as this machine. And unlike Apple, Sony doesn't cut corners on the graphics. Pick out the newest 3D game out there and this machine will eat it for breakfast. (Note: it has a ATI Radeon 9600XT, the tech notes on Amazon are a little confusing on this point.)

But to me the best thing is the 3.4GHz HT CPU. The "HT" means it supports Hyper-threading, which is a fancy way to say it can run two software threads at the same time. No other CPU in the consumer market can do that. I have a 3GHz HT cpu, and I love the fact that while I am doing something that takes a few minutes (like writing out a movie or burning a CD), I can go off and surf the web or play a game and never notice a slow down. It's almost a good as having 2 CPUs, except at a fraction of the price.

Sure, a computer at this level may cost a little more, but the way I see it is why sit around waiting for your computer to do things? With this computer you get your time back. For me that's worth a few extra bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top notch system
This is a top notch desktop. I bought mine with a 19 inch flat screen Sony monitor. Out of the box, it took me less than half an hour to set up. Also, it integrated fine with both my Router and my Digital Cable service. With the processing power and HD size a lot of nice options become available to you. Record your favorite TV programs, and watch them as you please. Picture and DVD editing are a breeze, though I would recommend upgrading to Adobe Premier Pro. I like iTunes and with the two speaker sub woofer system you have a great medium to store and run your favorite songs. Gaming is good for this system too, and applications like Office will run with no problems. Overall this is a very good Media Center desktop PC. ... Read more
