Amazon.com Product Description

Created to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Sony's Fontopia earbuds, the MDR-EX70LP super-light, in-ear headphones are Sony's first closed-type Fontopia design. Their closed-type construction reinforces bass frequencies for powerful sound and reduces outside noise while keeping the sound from your earbuds from annoying others. The earbuds fit snugly, yet comfortably inside your ears during even active uses like dancing or running, and there's no hair-crushing headband to worry about, either.

Long-throw PET diaphragms deliver deep, extended bass down to an incredible 6 Hz rating, and their low mass enables extended high frequency response all the way out to 23,000 Hz (source material providing!).

The supplied soft, silicon earpads further reduce outside noise and provide long-lasting comfort. Two sizes accommodate a range of ears, and the earpads are washable, removable, and replaceable. The earbuds' oxygen-free-copper (OFC) cord ensures high signal transmission and low noise, and their gold-plated minijack (.125-inch) plug offers exceptional corrosion resistance and superb conductivity. Further, the L-shaped connecting jack reduces strain and cable wear when connected to a portable audio device.

The included compact carrying case offers vivid purple styling and neatly stores the earbuds and headphone cord when they're not in use. The case minimizes cord tangles, permitting partial windings to shorten the effective cord length during use. The high-impact case is ideal for pocket or backpack transport.

5-0 out of 5 stars They're the BEST, but be careful!
These are probably the best headphones on the market. The sound quality is AWESOME, expecially with my i-river or an ipod. It seriously feels like u carry a mini home theatre in your ears. The ear buds are very comfortable and come in all sizes. At $40 for a set from BestBuy, I expected the best from Sony, and they didn't fail to please. Don't try any other headphones on the market, just buy these and live happy. All others are obselete.

Do not be confused or object to the way they work. They do isolate almost all sounds from your ears; you ONLY hear the rich quality of your music. This effect is amazing when u first experience it. And you will get used to it. You'll walk the streets, see other people with different headphones and know yours are WAY better. Nothing compares.

Expect this when u buy them. It is more dangerous walking the streets since you cant hear hazards; become more aware of your surroundings and be safe. Also, u wont hear people unless they seriously yell at u. Set ur phone to vibrate.

Even though I praise these headphones with my life, there are a few negatives which can be annoying or can break your heart. #1. The cord design is different and can be intrusive. At the split there is only about 3-4 inches for the left earbud and a foot for the right to go around the back of your neck and to ur right ear. You can change it around but it will always be weird. #2 If the cord is outside of your shirt and it catches onto something, it will yank the earbuds out of your ear which can be uncomfortable; keep the cord in your shirt. #3 Make sure the buds are all the way in your ear, INSIDE YOUR EAR. This is how they work, get used to it. #4 Use the equalizer in ur mp3 player or other device, it drasitically improves the sound. Try it. #4 Dont lose an earbud please! Be safe. They cost $9 to replace and sony never has any.

#5 Keep the warranty. Sadly I've bought 2 sets of headphones and both have ceased to function. In the first pair, the left yearbud went out, like with many sony headphones I've worn. In the 2nd pair the right one went out, then the left. The reasons for this is still unknown. It would take a large volume to blast these out. Basically I used them, turned my iriver off, turned it on again and it didnt work. It happens that fast. I am still unsure as to how it happened, expecially after taking so much care of them. Maybe I'm unlucky, i dont know. This is what I have experienced. I will try another model of the fontopia in ear headphones however. U can't stop using them, theyre too good. Im praying...

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad by half!
Bought some of these today and simply have to say that they are the best in ear headphones I have ever used/owned. Although they don't have any active noise-reduction that seems to be all the rage at the moment the design of the silicone earbuds manages to cut out a massive amount of unwanted noise - which means that when the music gets going you can hear every single note!

The bass response is absolutely amazing, probably because all other noise is blocked out by the buds.

I recommend these earphones to any music lover. All genres of music benefit from these earphones. I was in the town center on my way back from buying these and was listening to a very quiet classical music piece and could hear everything.

I have read reviews that state that these earphones have too much bass response - I say that it is better to have the ability to kill yourself with bass than not have. If you don't like it or simply do not require it, turn it down on your system.

In short, these headphones are well worth a look. excellent design and and excellent function. I hear that sony do a noise cancelling version too .........if only i had the money!

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't move
When these in-ear headphones are properly installed (and getting them in right is like an installation) the sound is amazing. I've heard parts of songs that I'd never heard before. But the headphones suffer from two massive flaws. The first is that if the headphones move the tiniest bit out of your ear canal, the sound quality plummets. This is a huge problem because the cord is so long that it is guaranteed to catch on something and jiggle the earbuds. Even when wrapped up and out of the way, the cord will respond to the slightest movement and pop the earbuds out of your ears. This is extraordinarily frustrating, all the more so because the sound is so good. I do NOT recommend these headphones to active people or to people that plan on moving much at all. If, however, you don't plan on moving much with these headphones, you're golden. Also note: that little case that comes with them should be used all the time; the earbud pieces will come off in your bag or pocket and the case helps prevent that. It also helps prevent just whipping out your iPod and listening, since you have to undo the case and store it, but that's the least of your problems with these headphones.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's got the power, but do you really need it?
The bass quality is amazing, so if you're into anything with a lot of percussion, you will love these headphones. The treble on the other hand, is a little lacking, while not terrible, the heavy bass creates an unbalanced sound, forcing you to adjust the equalizer if you plan on listening to older songs, however, after the initial setup, the quality becomes efficient and very good. The design is sleek and small, and the uneven distribution of the cord, although awkward at first, lends itself nicely afterwards. The cord length is very good. With the extension cord, it's not too long like Sony's Street-Style Headphones(MDR-G74SL), but not too short either. Excluding the extension cord, the cord is short enough so that it allows it to be used with a remote.
The fatal flaw of this product lies with its removal of almost ALL ambient sound, making it impractical to use. These headphones are literally like ear plugs, removing you from outside activites and focusing you completely on your music. This is exteremely dangerous, and there is no way i can picture myself walking down a street with this, as i can get hit by car and not even know it. Other than that, another minor flaw would include the case, as it's only big enough to contain the earphones without the extension cord, and leaves me with no place to put the cord.

4-0 out of 5 stars Simply Stunning
These are, in my opinion, the best earbud headphones on the market. First is comfort. Until these I hated earbuds. These stay in my ears , and providea great seal against outside noise. Sony did a superb job of understanding the ear canal and designing a device that is very comfortable and conveys all the music. Now, the sound? Just blows me away. Great bass and very good treble and midrange.Incredible detail. You really get the best earbud sound capable.Until these i simply never believed that I would get this level of comfort and high quality sound in an earbud headset.BTW, I use them with an iPod.These buds really max out the iPod sound in an earbud format. If you have a portable listening device, this headphone set may be the best investment for the care and feeding of your music listening ears.My only minus is having to fuss with the wires everytime I take it out of my pocket. There needs to be some sort of wire management device. This would get it the 5th star from me. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised...
I was holding off buying a DVD burner until I could get my hands on the (relatively) new Plextor 16x double layer burner at a reasonable price. However, it appears that Plextor burners (the benchmark for optical drives) are being plagued by quality problems at the moment, so I was forced to look elsewhere. I stumbled upon the Sony DRU720A at my local retailer, got a good price (not as good as the current offer here at Amazon!) and took it home, not expecting much.

My main purpose for the burner is to make backups of roughly 100 DVD's containing home video, transferred from VHS using a set top DVD recorder. So far, I have burned just short of 40 discs with the Sony, and I am pleasantly surprised! My Windows XP machine recognized the drive right away and the included Nero software installed without a hitch. I haven't tried all the software bits yet, mainly the DVD copy function which works great. I'm using Sony 8x DVD-R media off a spindle and haven't had a single failure yet.

Based on my experience so far I have no hesitation recommending this drive. And, at the price advertised above, this must be just about the best value for a brand name DVD burner out there right now. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The SRF-59 is lightweight, simple-to-use FM/AM stereo receiver. Weighing only 3 ounces (84grams), this compact player is a perfect companion for the track, bike trail or work area. The FM antenna is part of the headphone cord, so you are sure to receive a strong signal. The AM antenna is a ferrite bar type. The local/distant switch will help you fine tune the reception. Both the volume and tuning buttons are rotary dials, providing a nice sight-free way to make major changes to the Walkman.

Sony has included their MDR (micro dynamic receiver) headphones with the SRF-59. These headphones are open air type; the headphones will allow ambient noise to filter into the ear canal, providing a rich sound and keeping you safely aware of events, people and automobiles around you. The headphones provide ample dynamic range and sound. The Walkman requires only one AA battery, keeping the receiver lightweight and inexpensive to operate. When using a Sony alkaline battery, you can expect an impressive 100-140 hours of use. There is also a belt clip included, so you can carry the Walkman on your belt. The color is a sporty silver.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best AM performance on a pocket radio.
Excellent sensitivity and selectivity (both front-end and IF) on the AM band--at least equal to and usually superior to the Sangean ATS-909 (digital AM/FM/SW/LW receiver). Analog tuning very easy despite the technology. Single alkaline AA cell estimated by Sony to last 140 hours on AM. No "soft" on-off switch, a plus to prevent accidental power-up. Battery compartment hatch is attached by hinges and snaps shut securely, so it won't just pop open if jostled nor get lost. Note: lack of speaker is also a plus; a speaker on a radio this small would be next to useless, as it is the case with the Radio Shack Optimus (cat. no. 12-610), another analog AM/FM pocket radio just slightly smaller than the SRF-59.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastically awesome radio!!!
Over the years I have bought various "walkman type" radios from various manufacturers. This Sony is a fantastic radio. I have owned analog and digital tuners and find the sensitivity and selectivity of this radio to be on par, if not above, digital tuners. Don't let the low price and non-frills appearance fool you. The sound is top rate and the output is sufficient to drive the headphones with very little input from the volume control. Sure you don't get some features that one gets with digital receivers, but I listen to one station while exercising so channel surfing isn't an issue. I am very well pleased with this radio and for the money, you can't beat it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best AM reception
This radio has the best AM reception of any portable that I've heard. Better than a Sony digital tuning portable radio, better than the various cassette/radios I've owned, better than an expensive Sangean portable that I tried. I also own a Grundig Yacht Boy and the AM reception is at least as good (using the reel antenna on the YB). It even has a local/dx switch, just like the Grundig. I should point out that I use this primarily at work, in a high-rise building in a city.

It's small enough to fit in shirt pocket and is very light. One NIMH AA rechargable battery will power this radio for over 40 hours (the length of a work week).

Though not in stereo, FM reception is also very good. This is an analog tuning radio, so it can take a little time to lock in some stations.

Currently I am on the third of these radios. I drop them a lot and after a 2-3 years of abuse, the antenna is dislodged, which ruins AM reception. This is my fault and I plan on being more careful with this latest one, maybe wrap it in foam or something to cushion it.

This is a great little radio that you should not overlook in favor of those with more features.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Radio -- Great Price!
This is a perfect little radio. The reception is very good (much better than a few headphone/radio setup's I've owned), and it is very well made. It's solid and tough. And it's smaller than a pack of cigarettes.

There are only 2 downsides I can think of:

1. It doesn't have a digital tuner. This can be a major problem with this radio if you're a profuse channel changer. Dialing in your stations is a bit tricky as the slightest adjustment to the tuning dial will send it across many channels. But if you're like me (I pretty much stay on one channel all the time), you'll find this radio to be perfect for you!

2. The headphones stink. They do the job, but the radio is actually much better sounding than the headphones allow you to appreciate.

It takes only one AA battery and it will last a VERY long time. A set of two AA's will last you dozens of hours.

I recommend this radio highly. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Enjoy DVDs, VHS videos, and your CD-based digital media files right in the comfort of your living room or bedroom with the Sony SLV-D550P DVD/VCR combo unit, which handles almost any conceivable media format, from VHS and S-VHS tapes (which it renders at standard VHS resolution) to DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW discs. It also offers playback for CDs, Video CDs, CD-R/RWs, and MP3s, while also displaying JPEG images onscreen through the included image viewer.

The SLV-D550P fulfills the full potential of your DVDs thanks to its progressive scan function. Referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, progressive scanning creates a picture with twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving owners of high-definition TVs higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Audiophiles will appreciate the multiple sound options, including audio output for PCM, Dolby Digital, and DTS, and a virtual surround option that simulates surround sound effects from a traditional two-speaker stereo setup. Viewers can also choose from several aspect ratios that optimize the image to the TV's dimensions. 4:3 letterbox, for instance, displays the entire movie image on a traditional 4:3 TV with black bands along the top and bottom, while 16:9 is the ideal setting for a widescreen TV. Additional DVD features include disc bookmarking, a handy zoom feature for closer looks at scenes, multi-angle playback, parental lock, and slow-motion frame advance.

Meanwhile, the VCR component is easy to program and set up, with a Quickset timer dial for setting the recording date, start time, stop time, and channel. A quick turn of the wrist is all it takes to activate the record function. In addition, the VCR's four-head design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, and its hi-fi sound records and plays back stereo audio tracks. The unit's state-of-the-art 19-micron video heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in EP (extended play) mode, while the VCR Plus+ setting simplifies the advance one-month, eight-event programming timer. The VCR also offers commercial skip for zipping past commercials and previews, 60-second Flash Rewind, auto tracking, and an auto head cleaner.

Connections with combo units are often inconvenient, forcing you to use separate video hookups for each section (DVD, VCR), a problem for some TVs. This player has it figured out: a single RF or composite-video connection to a TV will display either the DVD or the VCR signal, depending on which format you're viewing. If you want to view DVDs in S-video or component video (either interlaced or progressive-scan), you will need to use two inputs, however, as the device will not upconvert the signal from the VCR to either of those higher-resolution formats.

It's a different deal for audio: you can listen through a single set of stereo analog audio cables for each component (one is supplied), or--if you want to enjoy DVDs in discrete 5.1-channel surround sound--you can send the DVD's audio to a compatible AV receiver and a multichannel speaker system through a digital audio interconnect (either optical or coaxial, not supplied). The unit also comes with an RF cable that will transmit VHS/DVD audio and video to your TV, a multi-lingual onscreen display (English, Spanish, French), and a multi-brand TV/DVD/VCR remote control.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why a DVD/VCR Combo?
In years to come, we will look back at VHS tapes much as we do 8 tracks today. Big, clumsy and slow by today's standards, in twenty years we have gone from seeing them as miracles to third rate technologies.

But here is the problem. We have lots and lots of those third rate technologies in our houses with everything from the kid's first birthday party to that Alaska trip for which you even haven't finished paying. And there is still no easy, cheap transfer medium.

So that means the old VCR needs to be around, but the stack of TiVOs, Satellite receivers, digital cable boxes, and DVD players fill up the space under the TV with bulk and wires. A combination makes perfect sense.

And if you get one, get a good one, because the reality is the good ones don't cost that much more than the cheap ones. Progressive scan is a must, and so is 5.1 Dolby. Remember that the main thing you will watch on this is DVDs.

As to the VCR side, you may want VCR+ which this model has, but who do you know that actually uses it? If the problem is that VCRs are too hard to program, how does a feature that takes half a day to program for the technically savvy help the VCR illiterate? ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Sony's stylish, slender DVP-FX1021 packs a 10.2-inch widescreen TFT liquid-crystal display under its aluminum hood, giving you an appealing way to turn downtime into prime time. The DVP-FX1021's lithium-ion battery is designed to hold out for a whopping 7 full hours (with contrast set to minimum and using headphones instead of speakers), enough for 2 epic films to last you through most or all of that transcontinental flight.

You can charge it in the car using its DC car charger, or use the supplied AC/DC power adapter to charge or watch from a hotel room. You can also hook it up to a TV in the hotel or at home using the unit's minijack S-video and composite-video outputs (cable included).

The player's 16:9 aspect ratio matches that of your favorite feature films. It has built-in stereo speakers, and it plays CDs, too--leave the screen down, plug your headphones in, and crank it up (but not too loud). You can even ask a friend to join you: the player sports 2 headphone jacks. Use the DVP-FX1021 to listen to your MP3 CDs and, with JPEG-encoded CD-Rs and CD-RWs, view slideshows of your most recent or most popular digital photos--perfect for those infrequent visits to distant relations.

Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output (through a .125-inch minijack-to-Toslink optical cable, not supplied) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. The outputs are switchable as AV inputs, too, in case you want to use the screen as a monitor for a camcorder or video-game device.

The resume feature automatically restarts playback from the point where you last stopped a disc, and a compact remote control affords ready access to the device from up to several feet away. Headphones are not included.

Amazon.com Product Description

Spin your commercial CDs, your homemade music CDs of almost any stripe, or listen to the radio, TV, or weather-band transmissions with Sony's versatile, D-NF600 Walkman portable CD player. The player includes a complementary high-tech-looking carry case, which hooks right to your belt, and SonicStage software, which lets you take full advantage of ATRAC3plus (Sony's proprietary music-compression technology) when making custom MP3 CDs on your computer.

Playback options include 32-track programming, repeat (track, disc, or program), random play, and--thanks to Sony's great work in DSP efficiency--more than 42 hours of ATRAC3plus CD or up to 50 hours of audio CD playback from 1 AA battery (not included). Affix the supplied clip-on-style remote to your bag or belt, or hold it in your hand.

The D-NF600 offers a 4-line dot-matrix display, full ID3 tag recognition, and bookmark playback (which lets you program your favorite songs from multiple CDs and play them back at the touch of a button). Jog-dial navigation simplifies song access, and file-view image display lets you sort through your tracks by folder for easy access to your favorite songs or albums. CD Text support displays artist and title information with compatible commercial audio CDs, and the unit's 3-color playback-mode LEDs indicate whether you're in play, fast-forward, or rewind mode.

ATRAC3plus is a high-quality audio-compression technology that reduces the size of digital audio files while preserving much of a track's original sound quality (similar in concept to MP3 or Dolby Digital sound formats). With ATRAC3plus, music can be burned and compressed at 132, 105, 66, 64, or even 48 kbps (kilobits per second), letting you select the right balance between fidelity and storage space (you'll get around 490 songs per disc at 48 kbps).

Compatible with ID3 tagging and most CD burners, the SonicStage CD Simple Burner software transfers songs from CDs or MP3 music files from your PC's hard drive and burns them to recordable CDs using ATRAC3plus compression.

The D-NF600 offers a whopping 51 station presets, which works out to 30 FM, 10 AM, 4 WB, and 7 TV stations so you're never far from your favorite channels. You can hook the player up with your home system through an optional analog stereo "Y" interconnect.

Skip-Free G-Protection technology boosts the laser pickup's shock protection to minimize read errors that would otherwise interrupt your music, providing quick recovery from both horizontal and vertical shocks. The D-NF600's heat-resistant lid helps protect the player against high-temperature build up, especially when you're using it outdoors or in a vehicle.

There's a built-in equalizer with 3 preset curves and 1 customizable setting. Sony's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) conserves batteries--and guards your hearing--by capping your listening level at either of two settings. The player works with an optional AC/DC 4.5V power adapter (AC-E30HG or -E30A).

2-0 out of 5 stars Sexy CD player with tuner, but the love doesn't last...
Sometimes one can only wonder what the engineers at these consumer products companies are thinking when they design and test these things. Finding a quality portable CD player with tuner these days is like trying to find a quality digital alarm clock radio. Neither exists because they are frequently made by the same company. Another mystery solved...

Pros:

- Yes, it has a radio tuner!!!

- Lightweight because it can only take one battery, but battery life is therefore half of last year's Sony models.

- Plays MP3 files more reliably, even @ 320kbps

- Atrac3plus specs have been improved to 256kbps to improve audio quality

- The included OpenMG SonicStage software is a huge improvement over last year's buggy and very limited SonicStage Simple Burner software that was included with the D-NE710. Now you can record your CD collection to your hard drive for later listening and transfer to Atrac3/MP3 CD's as needed. It appears that Sony made some nice changes to the burning software based on customer feedback. Thank goodness!

- The Seamless playback feature eliminates the annoying one second gap between tracks on an Atrac CD. Yay!

- Parametric equalizer is nice for a portable

- Can charge rechargeable battery in unit

Cons:

- Radio reception is terrible compared to just about any other portable radio. I have no such problem in the same location when using a cheap five year old Sony cassette walkman with tuner. Perhaps this is due to the D-NF600 having only one AA battery instead of two to have enough power to pull in a signal. FM/TV signal reception is poor for all but the closest local stations no matter how you contort the headphone cord, and no, this is not with the Local setting turned on. AM reception is satisfactory only when the unit is horizontal; when held vertical, such as is the obvious case when the unit is on one's hip at the gym, the orientation of the internal ferrite bar antenna is totally inadequate to pull in a signal for all but the strongest local stations, and susceptibility to nearby interference is extreme. WB reception is not even worth trying. Reception quality defeats the purpose for having a CD player with built in tuner. Why would a new model tuner be designed and built to be worse than previously proven technology?

- During audio CD playback, *SNAP*, *CRACKLE*, AND *POP* make their introduction at about 30 seconds into the first track and about every 15 seconds thereafter. It's subtle but annoying, particularly if you're listening to quiet classical or new age music in a quiet environment. If you're listening to loud heavy metal or thumpy poppy songs and/or you're in a noisy environment, it won't be much of an issue since the volume of the music will drown out the audio artifact that happens every 15 seconds. Playing a test CD track with 0 DB output displays no audio artifacts, so there is a presumption that the silly cackle during regular music playback is due to a flawed design with the anti-skip protection circuitry, which unlike CD player models from years ago, cannot be turned off for your inconvenience. I would have gladly given up other nice bells and whistles on this unit in exchange for consistent quality sound, but that still seems to be asking for far too much in this "modern" era of consumer product hell. At least the D-NF600 doesn't chirp with this audio glitch bug like last year's dreadfully birdy D-NS921F did, but the problem still hasn't been successfully addressed by the Sony engineers. If it was just the drive motor spinning up and down, that would be more obvious with the 0 DB test playback, and trying different CD's with the same results rules out any disc surface defects such as scratches, dust, or fingerprints. If only one could turn OFF that awful anti-skip junk feature!!!
(It really begs the question why last year's excellent D-NE710 with no tuner does not have any obvious regular audio artifacting like the tuner models. If only one could have the CD audio quality of the D-NE710, but with a built-in AM/FM/TV/WB tuner!!! Sony, are you LISTENING??? Please???)

- The AC adaptor is not included in the package. The printed paper manual supplied accessories list states in regard to this fact: "Not supplied with the USA model". Who did we tick off at Sony this time to deserve this? Furthermore, AC adaptor model # AC-E30HG is not listed at the Sony Style website, so you have to call the Sony parts 800 number to order it.

- Using a rechargeable battery with the AC Adaptor (not included in the package - was this already mentioned?) is practically a requirement, since removing the AA battery from the battery compartment results in an immediate loss of all stored memory (e.g. all radio station presets, default annoying button beep deactivator setting, silly red/green/orange light deactivator setting, equalizer sound configuration, etc.).

- The included remote is a downright weird departure from last year's remote model, which could only be ordered separately from the Sony parts 800 number for $42, but at least it had an alligator clip that could easily attach to clothing, case, etc., and stay relatively put. The keyring-type remote included is dubiously useful for working out at the gym, unless you've been looking for a material justification to yourself or your significant other for finally getting some trendy body jewelry to hold on to this silly remote. Still, thinking of the Sony engineering interns who must have installed nipple rings to test the usefulness of this aspect of the product is potentially disturbing, if only on the basis that they could have better put their time into ensuring that the CD player had consistently clean sound output and not a hidden gnome inside crumpling up the latest audio quality test reports.

- The included carry "case" is nothing more than a plastic spider web snap-on that allows you to thread your own belt or luggage strap through it to wear around your hips. At only 6.7 ounces, a sturdy belt clip would have been a whole lot more useful. By the way, if you lose or break that plastic snappy thingy, it's $15 to replace direct from Sony.

- Parametric equalizer only works on CD playback, not on the tuner. Ummm, why???

- The flimsy plastic lid does not inspire confidence for longterm durability, especially using the odd snug fitting plastic web snappy.

So, Sony still has to work on resolving some hassles on this unit. After three weeks of striving to put up with the significant downsides, it got returned. Let's hope next year's model is hugely improved!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for
A great sounding unit, I was surprised. The volume is louder than I expected. There are 5 selections for equalizer: normal, soft (has less highs and lows), active (more lows and highs), heavy (even more lows and highs). I have not turned on the anti-skip feature, since it hasn't ever skipped and that feature uses more battery life. Turned off the LED. The front panel controls are great. The remote can be added between the headphones and the unit, or left off, your choice (just what I wanted). The FM receives fine. AM didn't try much. TV has channels 2-13 (VHF, UHF). Weather, I don't think the local weather here uses that band, none showed up. There is a shell clip that covers the unit for attaching it to your belt. I instead have the Sony belt and CD holder which is well padded in case it falls or I bump into something. I've used $160 headphones, this unit is not that level of sound quality, but it is equivalent to $200 PC speakers with subwoofers in the typical room, good bass, good treble. I was suprised to find that it uses only 1 AA battery and gets 30 to 40 hours of play time with MP3's, amazing. As for the anti-skip, it never skipped while riding 10 miles a day and lifting weights without the antiskip on. The CD played has MP3's, 320Kb/sec recorded without any track ID tag stuff, and it read them in fine. There are a LOT of options in the main menu for how you want the songs played. I set it for repeating, and shuffle. The headphones are light, fit well and are comfortable. The jack for them is a standard 1/8" stereo plug. There is also a 3v power input if you want to run the unit on a desktop long term, or in a car with an adapter. The long play time on one AA battery and great sound with relatively low price, no fuss with standard MP3 recorded CD's, and both remote and controls on the unit, makes this one nice. Enjoy. ... Amazon.com Product Description

Affordable yet packed with features, the Sony SLV-N900 VCR produces excellent picture quality and is quick and easy to program. It features four heads for optimized playback and recording, hi-fi VHS audio playback, and cable box/DirecTV receiver control.

Recording TV programs is easy with the VCR Plus+C system. Just look up the "PlusCode" number assigned to a program (published in the TV section of most newspapers and cable TV listings) and enter the number into the VCR--the date, time, and channel are automatically set. You can also manually record programs--up to eight at any one time. The QuickSet Timer Dial lets you quickly program a recording when time is of the essence, even without turning on your TV. The Commercial Skip feature--a 30-second skip search--makes it easy to jump through recorded ads, while the unit's jog/shuttle control allows for precise, frame-accurate rewinding and fast-forwarding.

If you have a video camcorder, it's easy to connect it to the line-in jacks at the front of the SLV-N900. The back of the VCR features line-in and line-out connections for RCA-style jacks and coaxial cable. It also has a Control S input, which enables direct IR control of VCR unit when a Control S-equipped Sony TV or receiver is used.

The included Cinema Illumination remote control can control both Sony and non-Sony TVs, as well as cable boxes and digital satellite receivers equipped with an infrared remote control. It has glowing keys that are easily viewed in low-light settings.

Other features include:

  • Available play modes (speeds): SP/LP/EP
  • 19 micron heads ensure higher-quality recording in EP mode
  • 17-inch width
  • Flash Rewind feature rewinds a T-120 cassette in about 60 seconds
  • Energy Star compliant
  • Index scan and play: The VCR automatically marks the tape with an index signal at the point where each recording begins. Access can use these signals as a reference to find a specific recording.
  • Instant replay: The tape can be immediately rewound and playback started on the scene. During playback, the replay button is pressed and the tape is rewound 10 seconds on the counter for each press of the button.

Tech Talk

  • Four-head VCR: A VCR requires two video heads to record a picture. With four heads, a VCR can perform special effects like slow motion and freeze frame, and it is optimized for recording and playback in both the SP (2-hour) and SLP (6-hour) modes. You'll also get a better picture from rental videos with a four-head VCR.
  • Hi-fi VHS: The standard VHX format with Dolby Surround Pro-Logic encoded in the stereo audio channels, which produces near-CD-quality sound. You'll need an A/V receiver with Dolby Surround Pro-Logic decoding to take full advantage of this feature.

1-0 out of 5 stars Deffective
As all other Sony products I have recently purchased, this VCR was found to be deffective. Remote control would not function properly. Returned to Amazon.com for refund.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent VCR, very good picture quality
This is about as good of a VHS VCR you will find. If you want better quality and more features, look SVHS. But if you want a solid, old school VHS player/recorder, this is an excellent choice. The jog-dial recording system is a BREEZE: your 80 year old grandmother could program this VCR. Its also got excellent picture quality on both commercial recordings and my old personal recordings, and content recorded on the SLV-N900 is also very good for VHS. I love the commercial advance feature, which I relied upon until I got Tivo, and also the high-speed rewind and fast forward features. But hey, its a VCR. Not exactly cutting edge tech, now is it. If you must get one, I recommend this one. Sony seems to be one of the only companies that still delivers a quality VHS VCR, despite their early fumbles with rival Betamax!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
When my six and a half year old JVC gave out, after working perfectly for all those years, I started shopping for a new VCR. After comparison shopping I decided on the Sony SLVN900.

After 96 days of only occasional use it stopped working-would not play or record and ate two brand new tapes. Finding no solutions on the Sony web site I called Sony. Their idea to reset the unit did not work so I called back and they agreed to do an exchange, for a refurbished unit, for $30. I now have $150 plus tax invested in a refurbished unit. Hopefully, this refurbished VCR is in like new condition inside but who knows. I have only had this second unit four days so the verdict is still out.

The auto clock and channel preset did not work on the first one and does not work on the second one. With the fast rewind it is nearly impossible to stop the tape where I want it. Usually several tries are needed.

On the remote the number keys only work when setting the timer. Otherwise, you have to scroll through all the channels. These keys only work with a Sony TV, not with any other brand. Keys on the remote are bit small and harder to use than other brands.

Sony reps on the phone were great to deal with. But, with this experience I will not buy another Sony product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unacceptably poor Control S support
When I bought it about 7 years ago, I wanted a home theater setup that my wife, kids, babysitters, parents, et cetera could all use. I wanted it to be as simple to use as a standard VCR+TV rig... preferably simpler. I bought an all-Sony stack, and it worked pretty well: putting a prerecorded tape into the VCR would power up the VCR and start it playing, and the VCR would use Control S to command the receiver to power on and select the VCR input. I had an RCA TV, so you did have to turn the TV on independently, but that's all: insert the tape, turn the TV on. CD and cassette tape were similar; insert a CD and the receiver would select the CD input.

My old Sony SLV-790HF started to flake out, so I went to get a new VCR. Sony, of course, so it would work with the system. Well, my first unhappy surprise was finding that relatively few Sony components support Control S these days. It doesn't seem like they have a replacement... they just don't support anything like that any more. Only the top of the line SLV-N900 has Control S. OK, it's only a few extra bucks, so I bought one.

I plugged it in, popped a tape in, the tape began to play... but the receiver didn't switch to the VCR input. Seems the SLV-N900 doesn't support the automatic switching that was the reason for buying this unit, and the reason for staying with Sony at all. Telephone and online support confirm this. Unacceptable. Back to the store it went.

I don't know what I'm going to do. I can limp along with my old SLV-790HF, or maybe I can find a used older model. Maybe I'll just switch the whole stack over to JVC and Compu Link.

I'm just astounded that Sony doesn't understand that this kind of feature is the kind of thing that locks people into your brand and keeps them coming back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hey!
Why doesn't Amazon open a brick & mortar store for hi-fi!!? I mean, I'm batting four for four here with equipment I've gotten from here, generally through J&R Music & Computer, and each piece has performed beautifully from the git-go!

I was desperate when I ordered this item. VHS is apparently on its way out, but there are still a few brands that market good ones for not too outrageous prices...some, in fact, were TOO cheap....making me immediately suspicious. After a rather looong search for a decent model, I finally settled on Sony, since: 1) It was one of the few still in the feature-laden mid-price range and 2) the other manufacturers were either more expensive for the same features and manufacturing quality or so cheap and tacky looking as to be put offs.

I was not diappointed! This Sony VCR has hi-fi stereo sound, a jog-shuttle dial, (something you used to get only on VERY expensive units once), front A-V RCA inputs, a VERY fast rewind, slo-mo, commercial skip, VCR+plus and has its own programmable remote! You can't beat that with a stick for this price range.

Here's to falling electronics prices!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Sony DCR-DVD7 - Nice size but missing a few features
Review for the Sony DCR-DVD7.

Last week I found myself about 2000 miles from home and needed an easy to use, lightweight, and small camcorder. I found the DCR-DVD7 and decided to try it. It worked well for my needs except in the area of digital stills.

I noticed this camera at first because of its shape. It looks like a digital camera - not a camcorder. It is small enough (if you have big pockets) to fit into your pocket.

The camera is very easy to use and even has an Easy button to make taking video a snap.

Pros

The pluses of this camera are that it is small and takes acceptable video. Has a good feel and form factor. The camera has quick and smooth focus. It turns on and is ready to shoot in a very short time even for a DVD based camcorder. All the I/O ports work good (USB and Video-out). It has a nice bright LCD display. It can take literally thousands of digital images. When you finish shooting video, you have a ready-made DVD to show friends and family. You also have a long lasting archive of your images that you can edit later.

Cons

For me the biggest downside of this camera is that it takes terrible digital still images. The pictures have visible pixels and the color is not as rich as with Sony still cameras. A unit of this price should take at least acceptable still images. Some of the pictures I took with the camera look worse than the old Apple Quick-take cameras of 10 years ago could produce. The camera has no Firewire port. As an Apple computer user, this camera is unfriendly when it comes to editing-no Apple supported software and it is a difficult task to put your video into iMovie for editing. For all these lacking areas it is a bit pricey.

(Comments: - JUST IN CASE SOMEBODY FROM SONY READS THIS STUFF - This camera has a great form factor and has huge potential. IF it had a headphone out-jack, you could have a portable DVD player and MP3 Player that could be watched/listened to on a plane or any other type of trip. IF it took better digital, stills it would be good buy because it could replace a digital camera and camcorder. Some other reviews I have read criticize this unit because of the video quality of this unit but I found it to be acceptable for home use. Great concept I wish that Sony would make some small improvements and this unit could be a fantastic product. )

Conclusion

Overall, if you need an easy to use camcorder that is small this camera would be a good choice. (DVD archiving is also a big plus for those who shoot video but do not always edit it right away.) If you are looking for great quality images and size does not matter look elsewhere. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Who came up with these controls?
Usually Sony comes up with great products, but this one is a bit shaky.

There are so many controls, so many abbreviations for what they do, that it's a bit overwhelming, even after owning this thing for a few months.I'm use to having the major buttons be record, play, rewind, fast forward, next file.On this unit, there is this incredibly complex big button that controls a dozen functions, some of them you will never need. Not only do you have to fumble around sliding this thing forward, backwards, up, down, and in, but you have to know what the crytic abbreviation that pops up on the LCD screen means. Then there are a few other tiny switches and buttons all over the unit you have to remember how to use, again with little heiroglyphics that suggest it's function.I guess I should have played with one of these units before I bought it -- I bought it based on it's features, most of which I will never use.

If the team of engineers who built this device got to redesign the iPOD, there would add about twenty stainless steel switches, knobs, buttons and connectors and call it the "Apple YTD-TU652 Portable Digital Music Playing Device"... now would you think that would be a successful product?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Voice Recorder
Works great for voice recording.Records hours of lectures.
Upload to computer works great and you can scroll anywhere into the recording to listen to segments. As you scroll just look at the time to decide what part to review.Battery life is good. The buttons work ok for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars Overkill
I returned this, after really trying hard to like it.I have large hands, and, the buttons were so small I kept hitting the wrong ones. Further, you have to delicately push back and forth one switch to go from function to function; I don't mean up and down length-wise, but, perpendicular to the layout of the switch, which is extremely counter-intuitive. Also, I could not accept having to toggle through several menu windows just to allow me to erase part of what I was dictating. I really wanted to simply use this like an old fashioned microcassette: forward, backward, erase mistakes and dictate over, but, also have the luxury of voice recognition. It flat-out did not work. Try something else!

4-0 out of 5 stars Light, easy to carry, a little delicate though...
Buttons are very small, so large handed/fingered people might have trouble with them. Nice sound quality on SP (7 hr); LP (15 hr) is the usual MP3 on low resolution warble, ST is pretty good, but creates pretty bulky mono-sounding files, unless you're using external stereo mics, or a stereo line-in.5 user folders for sorting - can do Add or Overwrite, but takes about 2-3 clicks to change the mode.Display normally stays on, but it's like a digital watch with a backlight.Sound output is quite audible for a little wafer speaker.

Bought as a replacement for a micro-cassette, and used for vocal presentation preparation, so I like the scan/review features and the variable speed playback.Vocal-Up does a modest job of basically compressing the input to equalize amplitude (think of it as auto-gain).

Delicate refers to the overall feel in that it's pretty much all plastic, and I'm worried about dropping it and having a lot of damage from a fall. But that's what one gets for the price, and the size (which is like a couple of matchboxes stacked vertically). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy by name, reap the benefits...
I had purchased the Network Walkman after my iPod was stolen.I had used the iPod and discovered all of its perks and downfalls. The Walkman, to me, is 10x as sexy and as functional. The only downfall is the digital equalizer, which doesn't help the sounds quality whatsoever. What you need is a good pair of headphones. The songs go on a lot easier than the iPod's music match and iTunes. My problem at the moment is finding an FM transmitter as good as the iTrip.Buy this product, it comes in your favorite color.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Sound is Incredible but I had to exchange the original
I bought the Sony HD3 in lieu of the IPOD because of all the reviews I read stating that Sony had the best sound. I was not disapointed with the sound--it's amazing. HOWEVER, I had to exchange it after only four days because the flimsy power button bent when my fingernail accidentally slipped under it. The power button on this device is very thin and should anything get caught underneath it, it will easily bend. This is something Sony should consider modifying with the HD5 that is scheduled to be out this year.

Also: The software is not the best but not as bad as some reviews would lead you to believe.

The best reason to buy this MP3 player: The sound--it's awesome. Also the battery life is a plus but don't count on getting 30 hours unless you convert to the Sony format.

4-0 out of 5 stars NW-HD5 IN MAY
IF you are considering this you might want to wait until may when sony releases the NW-HD5, it has an even longer battery life (40 hours ATRAC, 30 hours Mp3) and a user-replaceable battery. Pictures are on engadget.com

5-0 out of 5 stars Spend some TIME with it, and fall in love
If you spend some time with this player it is equal to or better then the ipod. I've used an ipod before and its great. But when researching to choose which player I wanted to invest $300 on, I downloaded the manual from each of the players respected manufacturers (apple, sony, iriver, creative). When directly comparing the HD-3 to the ipod (the "most popular player") they both have the same annoying features. Ipod uses only itunes to transfer music and sony uses sonicstage. Sonicstage version 3 was pretty simple to figure out. I loaded up my library from my pc and then transfered album by album to the hd3. It was the same procedure the ipod manual describes.
The HD3 does have a playlists option in which you bookmark songs. Ipod calls it "on the go something" but both have you holda button to add the track to a my favorite playlist which is a few menus away from the opening screen. Its no problem.

Shuffling is also easy to figure out. It's about the same explanation you would see with any sony audio device. I mean the manual came from Japan but its written in english. So stop whinning. The HD3 actually gives you more shuffling options than ipod. You can shuffle all the tracks, or all the albums, or all the artists, or choose to shuffle tracks within an artist or album group.

Overall the HD3 has way better sound and a much longer battery life than any other player including ipod. Plus if the battery dies YOU can replace instead of paying someone to do it. The HD3 is also smaller, sleeker, and looks cooler. Plus when do sony products break? I still use a six year old cd player.

So don't let U2 convince you to buy an ipod. Buy a freaking awesome player that is unique and much cooler.

No I don't work for sony, I work at Publix. Its a grocery store.

4-0 out of 5 stars Apple better watch out..but Sony has a few things to fix.
Sony has released a sure threat to the iPod. The HD3 is sleeker and has a better battery life than the iPod. The UI isn't the greatest but still quite good. The Sonic Stage software is what baffles me. Sony had a winner until they decided to throw in the SS software which I must say needs a lot to be desired. Its not the most user friendly and it frustrating at times.

Having said that this product is hands down better than the iPod. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The fun, easy-to-use Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72 digital camera packs in more pixels and more features than its predecessor. With its 3.2-megapixel resolution, the Cyber-shot DSC-P72 produces stunning images in a diverse range of conditions. The Cyber-shot DSC-P72 bumps up the optical zoom to 3x from the DSC-P52's 2x rating, helping you bring distant subjects closer. It's also one of the first Sony cameras to be compatible with Memory Stick Pro.

Step-up Value
Here's a Sony feature that adds value to this digital camera and differentiates it from other models in the Sony lineup.

product image AF (Auto Focus) Illuminator: Briefly lighting the scene in low- or no-light conditions, AF Illuminator insures a positive focus lock, allowing you to accurately establish and maintain focus in difficult situations.

Optics and Resolution
The 3.2-megapixel resolution creates images large enough to print 11-by-17-inch enlargements. The 14-bit DXP system plus Super HAD CCD combine to produce excellent image detail and stunningly smooth contrast and color rendition. The Cyber-shot DSC-P72 offers a 3x optical zoom and 3.2x digital zoom for a 9.6x total.

Storage and Transfer
Images are stored on Memory Sticks, and a 16 MB Memory Stick is included. The Cyber-shot DSC-P72 is also one of the first Sony cameras to be compatible with optional Memory Stick Pro media, which can extends data capacity up to 1 GB.

Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB connectivity, which means it can be connected to any USB-based Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.

Movie Mode
You can capture far more than still images with the MPEG Movie VX function. Most digital cameras' movie modes are limited to 30- or 60-second clips, but the Cyber-shot DSC-P72 can keep shooting until you've filled the memory card. When used with Memory Stick Pro media you can shoot approximately 22 minutes of video.

More Features

  • 1.5-inch LCD monitor and true-zoom optical viewfinder for more accurate framing at eye level
  • The three-area multipoint autofocus can intelligently focus on the subject and avoids mistakenly focusing on the background
  • A multi-burst mode captures 16 images (320 x 240) as part of a single 1,280 x 960 image and plays them back sequentially in the camera
  • The Multipattern Measuring feature establishes a maximum exposure value, independently light metering 49 points of the frame, even where pronounced highlight and shadow are not centered
  • Five scene modes: twilight, twilight portrait, landscape, snow, and beach.
  • Built-in flash with red-eye reduction, auto, forced on, forced off, and slow-syncro modes

Power, Size, and Contents

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid camera for a good price...A must TRY!!!
After searching for months and reading many reports I purchased the Sony DSC-P72. The camera was a snap to use for this first time digital owner. Menu is excellent, focus does a terrific job, and the download to my computer was instint. Picture quality after I enlarged to 12 by 14 was superb. Sony supplies you with ni-mh batteries and charger, plus can use regular AA batteries. With Optical zoom, 3.2 megapixels, charger the $329.00 was normal but with sony quality. Memory stick media is getting cheap too, I purchased 128 m for $40.00 and 256 is available. I don't need more functions or 4 or 5 meg after using this camera!
I also compared with our Canon A-70 to her Sony P-72 and I still love my A-70 though. Her P-72 was the same price and takes great shots as well. It just lacks manual aperature control and shutter control against the A70's ability to do so. However, the P-72 takes sweet shots too for the person who just wants the camera to do all of the work. Sony is top quality as well. But hey, this is a camera, not a camcorder! What are you waiting for? Get it now!

4-0 out of 5 stars My First Digital Camera
I have always put off getting a digital camera because I did not have much faith in the current "at home" printing technology. But I changed my mind when I discovered I can have digital pictures printed profesionally. I bought the Sony DSC-P72 in August this year and have not regretted my decision. This is my first digital camera. I like that it takes clear and crisp pictures. It's flash and AF illuminator are powerful. Allows some manual control over the settings to give help me get better pictures. Menus are very user-friendly. It took me only less than 2 hours to figure them out. I also like the rechargeable batteries that came with it. But if you're planning to go on trips better have an extra pair or two ready. It also takes normal AA batteries. Only two things I didn't like, the measly 16MB memory stick and the "slow" battery charger. Get a 256MB memory stick and you're on your way to taking tons of pictures and a (fast) travel charger. For those who are complaining that the camera cannot take multiple shots in quick succession, read the camera's instruction manual again. You can either shoot in clip motion, multi-burst mode, or burst mode. However, the picture quality will suffer if you use one of these modes. Better shoot with a film camera since we all know that as of now, film cameras are still faster than digital. Overall, I like this camera and I'm glad that I got this one as my first.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent starter, please get extended warranty
This is my first ever camera, and in comparison to my relative's and friend's cameras, it fares very well. Comparatively inexpensive against other cameras in its class.

Sony makes it very easy to just take photo shots on a whim and still comes out with great pictures. Of course, I had to teach myself to hold the camera still, but maintains excellent picture quality. I love the movie mode which allows for awesome pictore movies, great if you want to take family videos, but don't want the hassel of a huge camcorder. Or, just to capture that moment.

But, as wtih many things, it's advisable to get an extended warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not at Target!! Dont buy this camera at target!!
This is a great camera but at this site you dont get anything with the camera so you will have to buy all sorts of things just to make it work without a problem. If you go to circut city they have this camera for 229.99 with all the accessories!

1-0 out of 5 stars Sony does not stand behind their product!
I will never purchase a Sony product again! I have not even had this camera for 6 months and already it's useless to me. The flash no longer works (I found out when I was in the hospital having our first child and do not have any pictures. My husband had to go out and buy a $10 disposable camera that took better pictures and the flash worked!). I called Sony hoping that they would stand behind their product and cover the part and labor since it wasn't even a year since I purchased it. They told me they'd cover the part, but I'd have to pay for the labor - $139!!! They said I should've purchased an extended warranty and that there is nothing they can do for me. My problem with warranties - they never seem to cover what you want them to and why should I have to pay extra to insure that a product works the way it should've worked when I bought it??? I'm very disappointed in this camera and the company (Sony) and will never purchase anything with their name on it again. Since I've been telling everyone I know about my problem with the camera and Sony's customer service, I have heard nothing but great things about Kodak digital cameras and their customer service. I wish I purchased a Kodak. Too late for me...but not for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD-RW
I bought this CD-RW to put into my dell pc at home.I wasn't sure initially whether it would work, since I keep my Dell machine on its side, but this turned out to be a non-issue, the CD-RW works vertically and horizontally.

I know a bit about PC configurations, so I put the CD-RW's jumper on "Cable Select", to match my configuration, then I slid it in and plugged in some cables. The hardest part of installing this was really just trying to figure out how to open my PC up and remove a front-panel.

Once it was in, I closed up my PC, and booted up to WinXP.I didn't need to do anything, Windows knew about the new hardware.Next I installed Nero, and burned some CDs, it worked beautifullywith the cheap generic CD-R media I bought with it.

Later on, I bought some CD-RWs to go along with it, and realized I needed to install InCD in order to use them, which also came with my Sony CD-RW, once doing that, I can now use CD-RW media just as I would use a Zip disk or floppy or any other media.

I highly recommend this if you're ok with opening up your PC and installing new parts.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have had no problems
I bought this drive even though another review stated that the software was nothing but a pain. I installed the drive and I am using the software that was already installed for the CD/DVD burner that came with the computer. I did NOT install the software that came with the drive, I just allowed Windows to recognize the drive and install it's own drivers. That, and software I purchased for making cd's and such, and I am a VERY happy camper.

The drive has been working fine for over a month. We burn CD's on it. We use it as a source drive when we need to copy one of our homemade DVDs. It is working flawlessly.

I recommend this drive if you are comfortable with doing the install yourself. I can offer no opinion on the Sony supplied software, as I simply don't use it.

1-0 out of 5 stars One headache after another....
Don't bother wasting your money, or your time intstalling it. Had nothing but problems with the software that came with the hardware. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A1 DVD Player
I recently purchased this DVD since mine broke, and this thing is nothing short of amazing.I had an older Sony dvd player I got in 2000 and it finally went, and after having so many years out of my first Sony dvd player I thought I should stick with them, and I am glad they did.First off when it says it plays all those formats it really does.I have burnt DVDs along with some VCD and SVCD and it never flinched at any of them. Also the startup time and the disc recognition time is very quick.Plus on top of everything else for all this the item costs roughly $75, and to think my first Sony was $299.99 and it wouldn't play anything but store bought CDs or DVDs.If you are looking into DVD players in this price range I highly reccomend anyone purchasing this, you will not regret it. ...
