4-0 out of 5 stars Very simple but very limited
This is as advertised.Super simple to get started with accounting for a very basic business. It took about 5-10 minutes to load, walked me through half a dozen basic questions, and was ready to start taking bank account entries and categorize them.I was also able to set up a business credit card to track expenses there and enter things very easily.

The simplicity however comes with a real lack of flexibility for anything more involved.Within the first 30 mintues I was already noticing features missing that I would like, and found myself needing to upgrade to a more complete version of Quickbooks. For instance, expenses are only single level -- you can't have subcategories for expenses.Credit card entries can't have memo fields to remind you what the expense was (checks can however).Etc.

I imagine if you have a business with a very limited set of vendors and customers, and you have little need to categorize your expenses in too complicated a way, this program could be sufficient for your needs. It also is an easy first step into accounting software -- but I would probably start with the expectation that you'll have to upgrade. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Gift that Keeps on Giving
Like another reviewer before me, I too have owned Macs for 20 years [at home].I also have worked with PCs at work for the past 20 years as well.I have watched and worked with the evolutions of the hardware and the operating systems. Both Wintel and Mac products have been, more or less, just fine.

I just purchased a month or so ago from Amazon.com [a good point of sale] a Powerbook G4 1.5. and of course Mac OS 10.3.8.

Yes, there are Wintel laptops that offer, at a higher price, brighter, sharper screens.Yes, there are laptops that offer, at a higher price, slightly faster operations than the Powerbook. But, if you combine the solid "feel" of the hardware with the absolute elegance of Mac OS 10, you have a combination hard to beat.

The more I work with this system, the more I am impressed. Two quick examples: I am studying Spanish and trying to practice writing sentences.Lo and behold I discover that OS 10 allows me the option of changing my keyboard from English to Spanish [or German or any one of scores of other languages] and thus I can type the Spanish punctuation [upside down question marks, for example].

I also had occasion to set up bluetooth devices on a PC and on my Powerbook. With the PC I had to insert a CD, go through a relatively elaborate set up process. It worked just fine, but with the Mac, there was no driver set up needed, just a 10 second "pairing" process and the blue tooth mouse was scampering across the table top.

These are not "assets" advertized or promoted.I just discovered them and I feel like I have a lot more pleasant discoveries ahead of me.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only computer you'll ever need
I'm just a regular person with no training in graphics or computers. Apple has changed all that. I used PCs all my life and now realize that I wasted my time & money. PCs will never compare to Apple, and frankly, I don't undertand why people bother. I thought buying a G4 desktop was the best purchase of my life. But this powerbook (PB) is an even better purchase. Since I've bought it, I have totally (and I mean "totally") ignored my G4 desktop. I do all my computing from the comfort of my couch. I do everything wirelessly. Apple's OS X is unbelievably stable. This PB is great for the user who enjoys using higher end digital equipment and software. Apple software is simply the best. The graphics intense power simply sits on your lap. iPhoto is easy to use and with a .mac account, you can share your photos on the internet in just a few easy minutes. With music, garageband allows me to plug in my guitar and record my music. Then I use gargeband to add some bass, drums and other instruments. I then save it in iTunes and post my music on the internet where friends can download my music onto their iPods. I'm not even a good guitar player but garageband turns me into a musical genius. As for digital movies, I download my footage into Final Cut Pro and edit my movies while sipping latte at Starbucks. I then use my PB to burn my movies on a DVD and share them with friends and family. And I'm just getting started! As life goes on, Apple continues to improve and so do I. I highly recommend this powerbook. It will change your life...

5-0 out of 5 stars A PowerBook to Die For
I have a friend of a friend who works at an Apple store and just recenlty he let me play with all the new stuff, some old stuff too and here is my impression of the new, improved 15 inch PowerBook. First off, and I feel like shouting this, but I won't, "It's about time Apple put out a computer that had enough memory in it to actually run it!" I have an old G3, 14 inch iBook and right off the bat I had to buy more memory, bumping it up to 640 megs, so knowing this baby comes with 512 right out the door, will bring a sigh of relief to anybody thinking of buying one.

The screen on this baby is gorgeous, no reading glasses for me here. This machine is svelte and sleek, comes with Airport Extreme built in. Has all the usual ports, plus FireWire 800 and it's crowning jewel, in my humble opinion, is the backlit keyboard. Apple claims it's ten times brighter than the old model. I can attest to the fact that it's brighter, but ten times, I don't know, I didn't see it. However, it's plenty bright enough to work in the dark. This 1.5 GHz model does not come with a Superdrive, but for an extra two hundred bucks you might not care.

Compared to my aging, but still working like a champ iBook, this baby screams. And the 80 gig hard drive gives you plenty of room to load up those MP3s to play in iTunes.

All I have to add is to say, well done Apple, you have created a PowerBook to die for. Five stars and worth every one.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best laptops I ever used
I am using this Apple laptop for some time and thought its time to right a quick review. Apple as always famous for excellent design did a good job here as well. Few things I love about this machine
1. Very attractive look
2. Backlit keyboard to use in the dark (my favorite feature to use on the plane)
3. Good stereo speakers
4. Excellent screen resolution
4. Plenty of ports (Ethernet, Firewire, USB, speaker, telephone, etc.)
5. Built in Bluetooth (I think it's the best way to connect to cell phone)
6. Built in wireless (both 802.11b and 802.11g)
7. Lots of printer/scanner work well with this out of the box
8. Slot loading CD/DVD drive (I have DVD writer which works amazingly well and fast)
9. Built in Modem
10. extremely easy to change battery or memory, if you need to

Only two things I didn't like about it
1. Heats up fast and stays warm (and I read that its very bad for men to use a warm notebook keeping on lap)
2. Wireless connection lose some strength (about 20%)

As you see both the issues are because of the Aluminum case but it gives gorgeous look so I am ok with them.

5-0 out of 5 stars long-time Apple user loves this G4
I've owned Apple computers going all the way back to the Apple II+. Along the way, I have had the very rare bad apple. However, this PowerBook G4 worked great right out of the box. It was nice to find it fully charged and ready to go. These days I'm not really a 'power user. I'm not crunching any serious numbers or even much game playing, but I still appreciated the crisp speed of the 1.5GHz processor. I can see a noticeable difference between the 1.5GHz and my old PowerBook G4 500MHz. I also like the keyboard and how it lights up in darker rooms. Finally the PowerBook hasn't lost any of its coolness. I still get people commenting on how cool it looks. I have to say that this is one of the best Apple Products that I've owned in over 20 years of owning Apple products. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Zen Micro digital music player from Creative Labs packs an incredible 5 GB of storage capacity into a shell small enough to sit comfortably in your jeans pocket. It also rides nicely in your hand, with a palm-fitting profile and thumb-friendly front-panel controls. It's a bit shorter than an Apple iPod Mini, yet its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 12 hours of continuous playback--50 percent more than iPod Mini's. The Zen Micro is compatible not merely with MP3s and WAV files, but with WMA as well. Toss in USB 2.0 connectivity and you're looking at one spiffy portable music player.

But playing isn't all the Zen Micro does. You can use it to receive FM radio (with 32 station presets to keep your favorites at the ready), and to record, either from the radio or from live sources such as voice dictation or lectures using the built-in condenser microphone.

Trimmed in a luminescent blue glow and with easily visible backlit buttons, this stylish orange player holds up to 1,250 songs (83 hours) at 128 kbps or 2,500 songs (166 hours) at lower-fidelity 64 kbps (MP3/WMA)--that's a solid week's worth of music listening, never playing the same song twice. Compatibility with Microsoft's WMA compressed-audio format grants access to over 2 million downloadable songs offered promotionally or for sale online.

Perhaps the Zen Micro's coolest attribute is its DJ feature, which will shuffle not only all the songs you've loaded or all the songs on a given album, but also, at your discretion, only the tracks you listen to most or the ones you rarely hear, taking the work out of selecting your favorites or hunting out all the music you're still getting to know.

Zen Micro's rechargeable battery is easy to replace.
For navigation, the device features a vertical, linear touchpad designed to make searching through songs or playlists easy, quick, and fun. The unit's blue, 160 x 104-pixel, electroluminescent LCD shows key functions and song details at a glance, and you can even customize the main menu to keep right at your fingertips the features that matter most to you.

Another of the Zen Micro's handy features is its personal organizer. You'll never forget an important anniversary with the onboard calendar, and it also includes a to-do list and a contacts list, all of which sync seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook (Outlook thus required for use of these features). Further, the device offers a sleep timer and alarm so you can drift off to sleep to the strains of one playlist and wake to a completely different one.

The Zen Micro's removable battery is easy to swap with another fully charged battery (additional batteries sold separately), extending your listening by a half-day per swap.

What's in the Box

5-0 out of 5 stars Best I've had
I just purchased this card 2 weeks ago. It's is the best AGP 8x 128Mb graphics card I've had, and it can handle all the 3D games I have. Since it's manufactured by ATI you don't have to worry about getting a bad product, there's no problem with warranty, and you get ATI Catalyst software. It comes in good on the TV, but like all cards, when it's plugged into a TV, it's going to be hard to read whats on the screen. On the TV, it still comes in really good when playing games. I recommed this for gamers who don't have a lot of money to spend on cards

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Performance - but has Cold Boot Problems
My computer is a three-year-old Dell P3 800 MHz 256 MB. I replaced my GeForce-2 32 MB video card with the ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB card with the hopes that game performance would improve. Sadly, I did not see a marked improvement in game performance. Apparently, performance (i.e., frame rate and available effects) is limited by the computer's P3 800 MHz CPU and 133 MHz memory. It would seem then, that you will NOT see an improvement in your computer with this video card if you are running a sub-1 MHz computer.

Even though I did not see an improvement in video performance, my computer experienced none of the video problems that a previous reviewer observed. The display is very crisp and the colors are great.

Installation of the new card is very easy. Just make sure that you un-install the drivers of your old video card before you install the new card. This is very, very important - otherwise, you will experience all kinds of problems. Also, it is best to update all of your chip drivers prior to installing the new card.

Now here is my biggest problem with this card: Although the card works great once the computer is running, my computer had serious problems cold booting after this card was installed. In other words, if the computer had been turned off for more than a few hours, it would not boot (in one try) when started up. Most of the time, it stops near the beginning of the boot cycle and never energizes the monitor. Sometimes, the monitor will energize, but then booting stops before the Windows desk top is displayed. Sometimes, I had to reset my computer (with the RESET button) six or seven times before it would successfully boot. The problem seems to get worse the longer the computer is turned off. This indicates to me that it might be a capacitor problem (faulty capacitor or bad solder) or maybe my power supply is inadequate. Anyway, once the computer boots (after 15 minutes or more of repeated attempts), the video card works great.

I have now pulled the Radeon 9200 card out of my computer and installed the original video card. Since then, I have had no booting problems (indicating the the Radeon 9200 was the sole problem).

By the way, I could find no information on this problem at the ATI web site. They obviously know (or SHOULD know) about this problem. If they were responsible folks, they would put a warning on the box.

In brief, this seems to be a great video card and a great price; however, if your computer is less than 1 GHz, or if your power supply is less than 300 watts, I would recommend that you live with your current video card until you can afford a new computer.

2-0 out of 5 stars For such a new card, its still cheap quality.
I am a computer geek for sure, and i love high quality graphics.

The only problem is that i don't have the money to buy a expensive computer so i had to keep my 3 year old dell. The situation for me was that this computer only has a 200watt power supply, and now-a-days most cards are requiring over 350watts of power. I previously had a geforce4 ti4200(64mb), but that stoped working once our electric in the house was changed. The computer origionally came with a Nvidia TNT 2 graphics card with 32mb of memory. This card looked nice, but its performance was very weak and had very little support for advanced graphics applications.

So, i started looking for a new card, and i came upon the ATI radion 9200 with 128mb of ram.

i bought the card, and installed it in the computer. Sadly though, i noticed you could ACTUALLY see the pixles changing color.... it was not very accurate with picture quality. Now, this was not my moniter, or computers graphics settings, as i know none of those were changed(i have an extensive knowledge of computers, and know that it was the graphics card doing this). When i played a game (diablo2) it was VERY noticilbe with the "Fog-of-war". I e-mailed ati tech support and they said that this "snow" might just be a defective card.

I returned it and got another. The SAME problem occured.

Im not sure whether this is common among all ATI products, but to someone who really likes computer graphics, this is a major turn down.

The Nvidia graphics cards do not have this problem(from what ive seen and heard), and thus i would recommend you go with a Nvidia made product if possible. Nvidia is very competitivly priced and the graphics are just that much better!

As for performance, and seeing how this card being very new, is only "below-average". This is aimed at the very cheap quality market, which is a shame because its a brand new card.

I did a benchmark with it (3dMark2001) and the numbers average around 4000.... very disapointing. My geforce4 ti4200 was a year older and averaged around 6500 with the same benchmark.

Also, this card does not have multiple moniter support, or any other the other features that some of the new cards have. This is not a problem for me, but some people might need those "special features".

As for the softwear, it was flawless, and installed easily. This is the only main turn-on to this card.

As of right now, i feel ATI is really producing a Cheap quality product for a relitivly high price.

I would recommend you consider a Geforce4 TI model or a geforceFX before this...

In conclusion, i was very disapointed.

Assesment based on a scale of 1-10(10 is best)
Picture quality: 2 (because of the changing pixles)
Performance : 4 (very low for such a new card)
Price : 1 (i think this card should have been more like 50$US)
Card Features : 3 (basic card)
Software : 10 (worked perfectly)

Hope this helps!

5-0 out of 5 stars great card
this is a great video card. It has a normal video out plug for a monitor, along with an analog out and an s-video out. You can even hook it up to your tv! You can hook it up to your tv as the tv to A: extend your monitor, or B: show the same thing as your monitor. This can be good for people with emulators, so they can see it like they had a tv (get a controler, and its just like you had an SNES!) Also, the graphics on this thing arte awsome! I had some generic 32mb nVidia card that come with my computer, but i got sick of it, so i went out and bought this thing (the 128mb is worth it. Even 64. As long as its above 32mb) It has a long list of options i cant list here, but theyre there. Its fairly easy to hook it up to your tv, too. But text is pretty hard to read. Thats why you all should have an HDTV. HOWEVER if your not into gaming, dont bother with this card. itll have too much for you to care about. Happy gaming! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cleaning up some confusion
In Office 2004, Microsoft continues to support most Palm handheld devices. However, one common situation Microsoft has seen is that people upgrading from Office X to Office 2004 do not install the Office 2004 Handheld Sync software (which is found in the Additional Tools folder). Failure to do so results in sync failure.

That said, Office 2004 Handheld Sync does not fully support the Palm Tungsten T3 or E [it is incorrect to say that it does not support any Tungsten T - it does!]. To enable sync with those devices, the user needs to go to the Conduit Settings and enable syncing capability with those devices. There are possible issues when this capability is enabled - and all of this is clearly documented in the read me that is installed when you install the Office 2004 Handheld Sync.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than Office v.X
This new version of MS Office for Mac OS X is definitely a big improvement over the original version.
As a student I had the option of getting the full version for a reasonable price, so I did, mostly because several other students I know had problems with the upgrade version. I can't really comment on their experiences other than hearing their complaints and frustrations persuaded me to go with the full version.
I had no problems with the installation or the use of the Office 2004 full version.
Yes there are some (relatively) minor annoyances, but most of the major problems (text formatting, printing alignment issues-- the old version was definitely NOT WYSIWYG) are gone. Admittedly I have fairly low expectations after the disappointing original version. The new one has not crashed or lost data yet.
Although I find the Project Center (or whatever it is called) awkward to use, it is definitely a good idea. Hopefully it will become easier and more intuitive to use in future versions.

It is a big disappointment that it does not work with my Palm. I still have to use Mail.app and iCal because I rely on my Palm. It would be nice to have everything integrated into one environment.

Visually Office 2004 seems less clunky and more sleek than OpenOffice, which is surprising because it runs noticeably slower than OpenOffice.

4-0 out of 5 stars MS: I'd like to clear something up...
My friend worked with the MS team on this product. So reading some of the reviews, I've noticed quite a few inaccuracies. I personally have no direct connection with Microsoft and not interested in defending its interests much, but I'm against spreading bogus information.
First of all, there is no "3 strikes you are out" rule with the new Office 2004.
Some people seem to claim that Office 2004 can only be installed 3 times, after which user would have to do a clean re-install of the system. This is completely not true. Student and Teacher, Standard and Professional versions of Office 2004 do not have any special write protection and do not count how many times you install the program on your computer. However, license agreement for Standard and Pro versions states that you can only use one copy of software on one (1) desktop and one (1) laptop computer connected to the same network. Program does indeed check computers connected to the same network for opened Office 2004. If any Office 2004 program is opened on a desktop computer that is connected to the local network, it will refuse to launch until program on other computer is closed.
This is a security measure that doesn't affect regular consumers at all most of the time. The only reason for this is to make sure that small and even big businesses do not use one copy of a program on many computers. There is nothing new here either. Many companies have been utilizing similar security features for quite some time.
Student and Teacher edition which retails for a low price has ALL the features of Standard edition and can even be installed on three (3) computers at the same time.
The down side to it is that Student & Teacher edition cannot be upgraded in the future. But again, is not a big deal since upgrade for Standard version still costs more than full S&T edition. And of course, one must be a student or a teacher to purchase it.

I would recommend upgrading to the Office 2004 for many reasons. Not only you get a more stable programs now but also many new features like advanced Power Point timers, advanced printing themes and previews, audio note taking, a better option grouping and support for long file names, and many more. Most operations now also work faster and smoother.

Just like any new program, of course, Office 2004 will have a fair share of bugs, but they will be taken care of in a timely manner.

My Recommendation: Professional edition is a great buy for those who want to get Virtual PC 7.0 (included), as a VPC7 will retail for over half the price of the Office 2004.

If you are not sure about Office 2004 and would like to take it for a test drive, go to microsoft.com and download a "test drive" version. Try it out for yourself.

Hope this helps.

1-0 out of 5 stars Entourage is flawed
If you use a Palm Tungsten T or E, and other PDA's, the Entourage conduit is not compatible and will not allow you to sych your handheld with Entourage. This is a serious flaw if you use Entourage as your primary address, emal, calendar and to do list application.Microsoft is completely aware of this and offers no excuse. They simply state that the Entourage conduit will not work and they have no solution for it.

In Office X the Entourage conduit worked flawlessly.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mixed Review
The Project Manageris a nicefeature, but 2004 is full of bugs and problems. Some examples: when trying to save in Word, you have to use the "Column Browser" which lists your top tier folders and destinations, and recent folders, but you can't access subfolders.Very annoying.Entourage rules that worked in Office X don't work, and when I redo, they still don't work other thanmanually.Send and Receive schedule works occasionally, no pattern to its failure I can see.Mail view listings in outbox show sender (me!) not recepient.Really, some of the problems are just plain careless or thoughtless, and online support worthless at this stage.I would wait until problems fixed. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not Wallet Compatible
Let me start by saying that I'm no computer expert (far from it) and that Power Point 2003 is a good program that is already reaping rewards for me. BUT I have to say that this version is too high for me and that one should buy this in a package deal (Microsoft Student Edition) if you don't need all the "extra" features that are basically useless for someone using this stuff at home. Through a series of events (or calamity, as my wallet put it) I ended up buying Microsoft Office Basics 2003 that came with (a) Word 2003 (b) Excel 2003 and (c) Outlook but that didn't have Powerpoint included. So, I thought that I'd be able to get an Upgrade addition to work on my computer because the box lists a series of Office editions that would be upgradeable. When I got it home, however, I found that it didn't work with Office 2003 and that I'd have to get the extended version. It would work if I had an older computer with older software, but newer stuff required a stand alone piece of software if it isn't included in the bundle.

When I went back with this quandary, the price of this program cost more than my bundle pack of software and I found myself a bit unhappy because I could either (a) buy this overpriced thing by forking out almost two hundred bucks or (b) buy a student addition that basically meant repurchasing all the programs I had and forking out hundred + dollars. I opted for the second, not really happy with the choice but needing the presentation power in my hands and not wanting to pay too much, and I kept thinking that this piece of software is wayyy too expensive for the average laptop.

The moral of the story: If you need the extended pack, then you have a specific reason brought to the table. If you don't know a reason you'd have to have a stand-alone version then you probably don't need it, and should buy the compact versions and SHOP WISELY - avoiding oversight.

It has been three years since I bought my last Apple computer.

When I saw this G5 20" widescreen that now comes fully loaded, I was very impressed. It was loaded with TIGER (OS X.4) which ran like a Benz!

Thats before I got this big boy home!

Wow, loaded with wireless networking, bluetooth and a fast DVD double sided burner using a high speed connection, it is rocket fast and a state of the art machine!

It was easy to connect and all I needed for my own taste was an extra 512 meg of ram at $75.00.

I can now use Adobe Photoshop along with iPhoto and other applications all at the same time, and the spinning wheel is a thing of the past. The iMac is now a VERY fast aand smooth running machine.

I have the wireless Apple keyboard and mouse that came with mine and it only adds to the thrill of this zoom computer.

I could go on and on...but....

Pro's- the entire iMac !!!!
Cons? None! This is a thing of beauty and performs so well that I am truly amazed. Its the best computer I have ever owned or for that matter ever used!\

THIS IS A MUST SEE -MUST USE AND A MUST OWN!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Biggest fastest iMac G5 now even faster
Apple is, quite simply, the best and most innovative computer manufacturer. A recent article in Consumer Reports identified Apple computers as the most reliable computers and PC Magazine user surveys have reached the same conclusion. Furthermore, PC Magazine regularly designates the iMac G5 as the best all around desktop computer. Now the ultra-reliable, user friendly iMac G5 has an even faster G5 processor.

Yes, most people use Windows-based PCs, but do you really want to be just another member of the PC herd -- with all of the problems and frustrations presented by Windows-based PCs (including regular virus attacks) -- or are you looking for a computer which is user friendly, seldom crashes, and is virtually impervious to viruses? If these virtues are more important to you than being one of the crowd, please seriously consider buying an Apple computer. This new iMac G5 is Apple's latest and fastest iteration of the innovative iMac series of compact, user friendly computers at reasonable prices. Like all G5-powered Apple computers this new iMac is a very fast computer -- more than twice as fast as a Pentium 4 with the same clock speed -- and has a state-of-the-art 64-bit processor. All computers will have 64-bit processors some day but very few PCs, except for Apple G5s, have them at this time. If you're looking for a fast, versatile, easy to use computer, want to stop worrying abut virus attacks, and are willing to try something off the beaten path, you'll love this elegant and now faster new iMac G5. A less expensive model of the faster new iMac G5 is available with a 17" screen. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Device
This is a great product at a great price. I bought one of these for my laptop to add to the number of USB ports available. I liked it so much, I bought another for my desktop to simply make the ports more accessible. The supplied cord is plenty long to reach the desktop on the floor and then I simply Velcro'ed the Targus to my desk to make plugging and unplugging USB devices much more convenient. The Targus works right out of the box, no install required and it works on every computer I've tried -- no problems. I must confess, the blue LED's look pretty cool too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely COOL!
I am totally loving this little thing! Very slick design with those blue lights and the ability to put 4 different USB devices all into one super-mini hub. A must have for this price...

4-0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it is supposed to, at a good price
I chose this just because I wanted something cheap. I have heard bad things about some other brands overheating or having various problems, but I have been using this a few months and found no problems whatsoever.

It remains room temperature and has had no bandwidth or power problems for me. It appears to have a place to connect a power supply (not included), but that doesn't seem to be listed as a feature so I cannot guarantee it. It has two USB plugs so you can get the power from a second USB port if you need it. I have only needed one. My only complaint with the device is having that extra plug sitting around (attached to the cord), but of course that isn't a problem if you use it.

It's cheap and it works, so I recommend this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars SImple as can be!
I just got this item after reading just some of the confusing reviews and other positive ones.

It was inexpensive and worth the buy.

Upon getting it I unplugged by Logitech webcam and plugged in the targus. I then plugged in mouse, digi camer and webcam and it worked as smooth as silk. It is most recommended!

Works great!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Computer Hangs with Targus PA055 USB Hub
The concept is great, use one USB port on the back to connect to the Targus USB Hub, and then from there you can plug in four additional USB devices.

The problem I had with my Win98 SE machine, was when the Targus USB Hub was attached at bootup, my PC would not boot at all. Unplug the connection (either from hub itself or back of PC) and the computer boots fine. Once up, I can reconnect the USB cable to the Hub and use all connected devices, but then I have to unplug before shutdown or right before start-up which is a pain in the arse.

Hey, if you have a solution, then email me at wilkc@yahoo.com. ...

You can use it to receive FM radio (with 32 station presets to keep your favorites at the ready), and to record, either from the radio or from live sources such as voice dictation or lectures using the Zen Micro's built-in condenser microphone.

Trimmed in a luminescent blue glow and with easily visible backlit buttons, this stylish red player holds up to 1,250 songs (83 hours) at 128 kbps or 2,500 songs (166 hours) at lower-fidelity 64 kbps (MP3/WMA)--that's a solid week's worth of music listening, never playing the same song twice. Compatibility with Microsoft's WMA compressed-audio format grants access to over 2 million downloadable songs offered promotionally or for sale online.

Perhaps the Zen Micro's coolest attribute is its DJ feature, which will shuffle not only all the songs you've loaded or all the songs in a given album, but also, at your discretion, only the tracks you listen to most, or only those you rarely hear, taking the work out of selecting your favorites or hunting out all the music you're still getting to know.

In addition, the device offers a sleep timer and alarm so you can drift off to sleep to the strains of one playlist and wake to a completely different one.

The Zen Micro's removable battery is easy to swap with another fully charged battery (additional batteries sold separately), extending your listening by a half-day per swap.

What's in the Box

1-0 out of 5 stars Not much of an upgrade
My bank is one of the largest in my region, and this thing still cannot synchronize with a simple checking account.I'm glad I tried it out on my friend's computer before I purchased it.MS Money 2004 Premium isn't any better, but at least it's less money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible product
We bought this software, but could not get it to load with the .NET account or access any of our online bank accounts. Basically useless, the help on microsoft website is tantamount to reloading all your other software to 'migrate' to a new admin account to get it to work. Software is not supposed to this hard.
I wasted a day on this, please don't do the same.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Disappointing "Upgrade"
First, let me say that I have been an avid fan, user, and recommender of the Microsoft Money products since I first became acquainted with them after the 1998 version release of the product.

Words cannot express how greatly disappointed I am with the product itself and Microsoft as a company for unleashing this grossly inept, buggy, and endlessly frustrating piece of trash upon its previously contended users.

I have spent countless hours trying to fix problems that Money 2005 has created in my personal financial records, and even more hours with their support people communicating with them via e-mail (a journey in frustration itself - you have to format your messages a certain way for it to even get to them).

I am, as of today, sending a request to Microsoft for a refund of my purchase price and am going to try one of the Quicken products. I've never even used ANY of the Quicken products before, and am already convinced that they are surely head and shoulders above this latest version of Money.

Shame on Microsoft for thinking that nobody would be willing to jump ship and take their business elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Episode Ever!
Wholeheartedly concur with the other negative comments. The 2005 version is a huge regression.I, too, had to go back to the 2004 version. If you do attempt the upgrade be forewarned that the 2005 version slightly modifies the old data file, so be sure to backup your earlier Money file in a place where the program cannot find it.My Money file became so badly corrupted after the 2005 version that I had to delete it and start afresh.I wasted an entire Sunday afternoon reentering months of data.

1-0 out of 5 stars I guess my budget is okay...
But I wouldn't know because I haven't seen it since I upgraded from 2004.Neither of my computers--both of which are plenty powerful--seems to be able to crack my budget's code.Fortunately, everything else has worked so far.

I am perfectly ambivalent about MS.The first three editions of Money I had were great--2004 best of all.But this one is absolutely worthless.I might as well enlist my dog to keep track of my budget: at least he responds.I can look at my statements online without Money; the whole point is its ability to help you plan and respond to your changing needs and expenditures. The messed up Budget feature makes it just a holding tank for data, which a pen and paper can handle just fine.

If you have not bought it, don't.Get 2004 or stick with your previous version. All over the net, people are having problems with this software.Bill Gates's budget's probably off too. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft MapPoint 2004
I purchased this product thinking that after using and enjoying MS Streets and Trips (since 2001), that this would be a step up.I was also looking for additional features that I knew were a bit weak in the Streets and Trips product.Boy, was I surprised. Not only is the product, no better than the Streets and Trips product, but the maps for small Canadian cities (ie.,populations of 35,000 to 100,000) were so out of date they were useless.Where I had hoped to use the enhanced features of MapPoint in my business, the abyssmal road maps made the product useless. I had hoped to also track the location of our deliveries to customers within the city and surrounding towns.Again, this was not possible due to the fact that the maps were at least 3 to 4 years out of date.Had I paid only $39.99 to $59.99 for the product, I may have kept it for use when I travel to the U.S., but for $400, I returned to product within the week (the very first Microsoft product I have ever been dissappointed with). MapPoint 2004 is a very, very marginal product and most definitely not worth paying $400 or even half that price, given the poor map qualities.

I'm really dissappointed in Microsoft and their lack of attention to details and accuracy for Canadian towns and cities.Unless you are using it for U.S. locations only, do NOT purchase this product.Having said this, I continue to purchase a lot of Microsoft products,(I continue to use MS Streets and Trips), but this purchase proves that even Microsoft can put out a dud.

1-0 out of 5 stars $269 for this GARBAGE?
I wouldn't pay $2.69 let alone $269.00!!!! for this dreadful program. It is NOT user friendly. The data mapping is worthless. This program makes Street Atlas 2004 (mediocre mapping program) look like the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't waste your money!

3-0 out of 5 stars Stand-alone only sucks
For many years, I've used the Microsoft Map feature of Excel. It's a great little tool that only does a few things but served its purpose well, and on occasion even justified using Excel rather than SPSS or some other data-management tool.

Then came OfficeXP, with an Excel version from which Microsoft has stripped that Mapping tool. Now I have to pay hundreds of dollars and gets lots of data I don't want or need (and could find much of on the web anyway)? No thank you.

Time to find an alternative...

4-0 out of 5 stars OK, now that I've been using it...
If you used Mappoint 2002, you will be very comfortable with 2004 as the interface is identical. The biggest upgrade is the updates to the street maps themselves - although it is still not perfect.I live in a fast-growing suburb of Cincinnati, and Microsoft still missed a major huge street that was actually built in 2002!?!Oh well, it IS Microsoft after all, perfection should not be expected. At least you can't get a virus through this program!I think...

THE GOOD: Other upgrades/changes include 2002 Census update data, and a whole bunch of new data fields that can be mapped thematically. These are consumer-oriented demographics, like households with internet access, computers, etc. There are a lot of statistics on avg. household expenditures (movies, clothing, furniture, food, etc.)Another nice upgrade is the ability to print maps almost edge-to-edge, getting rid of that stupid huge amount of white space at the bottom that took up 25% of your page real estate. There are more pushpins, and it is supposedly easier to import new pushpins (I have not tried that.)

THE BAD: Mappoint 2002 had census data projections for 2005; this version has no projections for anything, 2002 is as current as you are going to get.No upgrades that I have been able to see with respect to territory mapping, they still have the same small (and ugly) selection of colors to shade your territories.Data is still mapped at the census tract level or higher - if you need block group level fuggedaboudit.Data import options seem to be unchanged as well.

THE BOTTOM LINE: If Mappoint 2002 floated your boat, this is a required upgrade just to get updated roads. If the older version didn't have the flexibility or features, you probably should be looking at coughing up the dough for Arcview by ESRI.For a real comprehensive list of all the updates and changes, go to the Mappoint home page on Microsoft's web site.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ummm
How exactly has the first reviewer been able to comment on the 2004 version, as it has not been released yet?Anyhow, the previous version is a great product, so hopefully Microsoft didn't mess it up.Easiest to use, and most powerful, off-the-shelf desktop GIS out there. And believe me, I've bought them all...Maptitude, BusinessMap 3 from ESRI, etc. While Mappoint does not have as many customization options, it is MUCH easier to use, and comes bundled with good demographics dataset. Here is hoping that the new version has really updated the streets, freshened the demographics, and has incorporated a web update feature.Users of Arcview, forget about it, this will seem like a joke to you, Arcview is the best (but a real bear to learn). ...

You can use it to receive FM radio (with 32 station presets to keep your favorites at the ready), and to record, either from the radio or from live sources such as voice dictation or lectures using the Zen Micro's built-in condenser microphone.

Trimmed in a luminescent blue glow and with easily visible backlit buttons, this stylish white player holds up to 1,250 songs (83 hours) at 128 kbps or 2,500 songs (166 hours) at lower-fidelity 64 kbps (MP3/WMA)--that's a solid week's worth of music listening, never playing the same song twice. Compatibility with Microsoft's WMA compressed-audio format grants access to over 2 million downloadable songs offered promotionally or for sale online.

Perhaps the Zen Micro's coolest attribute is its DJ feature, which will shuffle not only all the songs you've loaded or all the songs in a given album, but also, at your discretion, only the tracks you listen to most, or only those rarely hear, taking the work out of selecting your favorites or hunting out all the music you're still getting to know.

The Zen Micro player, stereo earbud headphones, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, an AC/DC power adapter, a USB 2.0 cable, a belt clip, a stand, a stylish cloth pouch, an installation CD, a quick-start guide, and Creative MediaSource software. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for weekenders or construction pros.
I have been using the National Construction Estimators for about 30 years now. I've found that their information is amazingly accurate. I first started using NCE for residential construction as a small contractor in the 1970s. During the 1980s and 1990s I used the latest revision for job costing at major government facilities. Since 2000 I'm using the latest edition to cost out repairs and upgrades to apartment buildings. Each year they get the latest prices and revise the book. This year is no exception, the latest edition is full of facts, figures, rules of thumb, detailed material costs, and everything you need to figure construction work from the smallest job to the largest. Whether you want to add up each spike and yard of concrete, or figure estimated complete subcontract work, this book gives you the tools. Residential, multifamily, commercial, or government, it's all here.

5-0 out of 5 stars A superb, professional-quality, industry-standard reference
Now in its 53rd updated edition, 2005 National Construction Estimator is a no-nonsence resource designed expressly to aid in estimating labor and material costs, manhours, and city cost adjustments for residential, commercial, and industrial construction. 2005 National Construction Estimator consists almost entirely of tables listing prices for each piece of hardware (or manhours); an index allows for swift lookup of individual components. Monthly price updates are automatically available on the web throughout 2005, for free; an accompanying CD-ROM features "National Estimator", a program that will aid the reader since it has all the book's cost estimates plus an easy-to-use Windows program that allows one to quickly and efficiently add up totals for a final ballpark figure. A program called Job Cost Wizard transforms estimates into invoices and exports to QuickBooks Pro. A superb, professional-quality, industry-standard reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera with a great zoom
There's no doubt about it, the Kodak Z740 is a great camera. Its small enough to carry with you (though a little too big for pockets), has a nice LCD, boasts amazing 5MP resolution, as well as professional quality 10x optical zoom (not junky digital zoom, like other cameras). You can print out an 8x10 poster of your photo without having to stretch the image, that's how great 5MP really is. Also, its got tons of features for a non-SLR model that are easy to use for camera beginners. At about $500, it is a little expensive, however. [...]

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This Camera is remarkable. I remember when I got my first digital camera a few years ago, and it was a 1mp camera and everyone was so excited when those made there way on to the market. Now only a few years later, consumers are able to buy, 5, 6, and even 8 megapixel digital cameras. That goes to show you how far digital photography has come these days. - One thing that makes this camera stand out from all the rest is it's 10x Optical Zoom Lens. This lens can get you up close and personal with anything your trying to capture, and the quality does not degrade, because it isn't the digital zoom. I would suggest getting a Higher Capacity SD card, 256mb is sufficient for most people (159 photos at 5mp Resolution) but if your taking a long vacation get a 512 or even a 1gb card for this camera and you won't regret it. Overall this is a good value, and if your in the market for a Printer as well, check out the printer dock, it makes a great companion for this Kodak z740.

5-0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER SATISFIED CUSTOMER
I purchased this camera as desperately needed upgrade from my HP 812xi digital camera. After over 2 months of research I decided that Kodak was my best bet as an upgrade and MAN OHH MAN am I pleased! When viewed from the camera display, the pictures look good, but when actually downloaded to a computer or printed they look fabulous.I especially like the fact that the movie mode allows me to film quite a bit of footage and the battery that accompanied the camera is very strong.I was able to purchase three rechargeable back-up batteries on Ebay for $5.00 each.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA!

5-0 out of 5 stars Grrrreat Camera
I love this camera. I do not know alot about cameras but all I have to do is point and shoot set it on the printer dock and hit the print button. The camera is so easy to use. I would advise you to buy this camera and the printer dock. Hope you love it as much as I do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Camera
I researched for a very long time before deciding on the Z740.I am sooooo HAPPY with my purchase.Kodak's cameras are so easy to use and this one is no exception! The pictures I have taken are AWESOME!I love having the 10X zoom, I can get some amazing closeups.I recommend this camera to anyone who is looking foran easy to use camera that has the capability to do a lot with! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars I wish I had bought something else
I bought Money 2005 Small Business Edition to create some basic financial accounting for my small business. The product came with no guide, neither on paper, nor on screen - for anything you need, you need to go online. The product constant encourages you to go online - but do you want to go online with all your financials open? Could a user have Microsoft or anyone else start browsing through his finances? Unfortunately, basic functions, such as decreasing a balance on a client invoice due to a credit, seem impossible to find. I wish I had bought something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly disappointing version "upgrade"

I am, as of today, sending a request to Microsoft for a refund of my purchase price and am going to try one of the Quicken products.I've never even used ANY of the Quicken products before, and am already convinced that they are surely head and shoulders above this latest version of Money.

Shame on Microsoft for thinking that nobody would be willing to jump ship and take their business elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars This one really is messed up
I usually don't have software problems I can't get around or fix. I am sort of a techy, but far from a programmer.

Money 2005 small business - crashes all the time. I initially couldn't even run it after it updated my 2004 data, but got around that.

Calling the support in India was a complete joke because they thought I needed a key like they have in Windows, this one does not come with that kind of key!!

Account payables - what account payables, still looking to find this function! Account receivables is there and works, but no account payables - just a vendor list seperate billing which does not link up or show up in the list of bills from that vendor.

I am done wasting my time - time to send it back!!!!!!!!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Invoice designer module is just crap
The invoicing module has a completely different (ie. terrible!) look, feel, and functional interface to it.Try mixing multiple fonts on an invoice, and see what happens. This problem has persisted in this product for more than 3 years now, and I always upgrade each year hoping that surely they will have fixed it in the new releases. What? No QA?I think the development of the invoicing module was likely subcontracted out to a separate party, offshore perhaps, anyway the whole invoices section is a piece of garbage.Microsoft, payattention to your product quality and loyal customer base, before it's too late! How can you put your logo on such crap?

Don't understand what I'm talking about?Just do some QA on the whole invoicing design system, you'll see. That whole part needs to be designed and re-written.Shame on you Microsoft.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible product
I read the other reviews that were posted and I didn't believe them.I have always loved Microsoft products for their ease of use and simplicity. However, it is as if Microsoft Money was not design by Microsoft. The software is quite difficult to use and their is also no interoperability.I currently have Microsoft Outlook 2003, and one would assume that the address book in Microsoft Money would be interoperable with Outlook. However, there is not such link. You are forced to use Microsoft Money's sub-standard address book.Even though Money does allow the user to import the address book from Outlook, there should be an option that allows me to change my default address to Outlook. The installation of the software also looked nothing like Microsoft Office's setup and again it looked sub-standard.

If you are looking for a solution to track financial information, I would highly recommend using Microsoft Excel instead - it's cheaper and much more flexible. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars After reading the net and trying others I use PerfectDisk
I'm a home user running Windows 2000 SP4.I have been using this program since version 5.

Prior to choosing PerfectDisk the first time I did research on the net, and tested the trial versions of a few other defragmentation programs.Recently I got an e-mail from Raxco offering an upgrade from the version 6 I was using to version 7. I thought I would go ahead and again try some of the other programs out there before upgrading.

I tried two of the other programs popular on the net.Had no problem with them but they either didn't work as well or as fast as PerfectDisk,so I upgraded to version 7.

I recommend it highly and doubt I will ever need another defragmentation program besides PerfectDisk, I think that highly of it.If you want in-depth review of why I chose PerfectDisk search for version 5 reviews.

5-0 out of 5 stars A definite winner !2 thumbs up !
I have tested various defrag utilities.

For me, it was sort of a "tie"; between RAXCO's Perfect diskand
"O and O" 's defrag.

[...]

As far as Raxco goes, they offer a 30 day demo on their website.
So if you want to test drive the software, you can do so.
From everything I saw in the "demo", it contains the exact same features you'll find in the full-version.
So you get a "real deal" test drive.

Features:
-online mode
-offline mode
-scheduled mode

LEVELs of defragging:
-defragment only [basic level]
-SMARTplacement [a higher level of optimization than just defrag only]
-aggressive mode [highest mode - adds consolidation of free space]

I like having the choice of doing any of 3 modes:
1. an online mode
2. offline mode of defragging
3. or both

The PROs :
everything listed above

The Cons:
- this can run a lot longer than MS builtin defrag does,
based upon your choice[s].

Conclusion:
- if you do the most indepth defrag that Raxco's PD& is capable of, you will definitely feel the difference [when compared with the basic MS defrag or norton's speed disk].
- You can't go wrongwith this product. Works great.

2 thumbs up !

5-0 out of 5 stars love this program
i have tried out a lot of software, and this is one that is definitely worth purchasing.you can set it up to run weekly, which keeps your disks in good health.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and Simply Amazing
If you are new to or nervous about computer utility programs you will feel comfortable with this one. This is especially true if you are tired of the limitations of Window's defrag program but are afraid to venture "off the farm".Pefect Disk 7 will reward you with improved perfomance, ease of use, and peace of mind.

I would consider myself an intermediate user and pretty comfortable with tinkering with computers and computer programs.Fortunately, Raxco's PerfectDisk (PD) requires none.PD6 got the Editor's Choice award from PC Magazine. So when I found out Raxco had a free full-program trial of their newest version on their website I downloaded it immediately.

I was not disappointed. The download site even lets you choose the appropiate version of PD7 to match your operating system. It operates completely independently of the Windows OS (operating system; i.e. Windows XP).Opening and Installing the program was a walk in the park (I recommend Mozilla as the browser of first choice because it make downloads very easy)and required no extra knowledge of the user.

In order to extend the life of my Pentium III 866 Mhz system, I got the RAM up to 512mb (XP's sweet spot) and then wiped my disk and did a complete reinstall. It was fantastic, but soon fragments began to show up that XP could not repair.I didn't want wipe my disk again (wipe = completely erase all data and programs from disk).

I had earlier tried O&O's defrag utility which is the only comparable defragger, but it required more tweaking than a novice, or anyone else, should have to do.Without a more thorough comparison I would be tempted to say that O&O's program is the most complete and truly industrial strength defrag program available. But again, the tweaking is not for novices.

The good news is that PD7 is very close to that level, but incredibly easier to use.Just do what it tells you.

If you are the tiniest bit adventurous you can use its menu options to tweak the program. These are options within the program and none of them require you to go outside the program to complete them. You just toggle (choose) the options you do or don't want.I did opt to have the program try to consolidate all the free space on my drive, but that was it.

For the only the second time ever, I have all my free space in one place and no frags on my harddrive. With PD7 you will have to defrag your boot files - but it tells you how to do that as well.It will then take 2 or 3 passes to fully align all your files, but the program is very quick.O&O's program is the only other program that I know that can do this and does this in one pass automatically. It is more thorough in its file reorganiztion than PD7, but also about three to four times slower.

If you have tinkered with your Virtual Ram (VR) I would suggest you reset it to 2mb (the minimum allowable), defrag, and then reset the VR to the level you wish and then defrag again. This will ensure you get continuous free space on your drive.

Bottom line.If you are going to spend your money, get quality stuff.Perfect Disk 7 is second only to O&O's Defrag in execution, and first above everyone in ease of use.So if you are a first-time utility program buyer I can guarantee you will have no worries with this one and should be quite happy with it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What do you expect for the price?!?!
I bought this for under $150 on sale.Mine came with a rebate so it was even lower. The speed at which pages come out of the printer make it well worth the price paid.If this thing dies in six months I would have gotten my money's worth and I wouldn't even object to getting another one!I do get some of the curling mentioned but I'm also using a $2 ream of paper.I'm sure with better paper it will be fine. The pages are far from unusable though.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mac Friendly
I purchased this to use with my new iBook. The compact size nicely reflects the compact size of my portable iBook.Conectivity is great via USB and it found the printer right away.No complaints here, and I print daily on this machine.Good machine for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exellent quality and price
This Brother printer is a great value for the price.I purchased this machine for my home and it has performed flawlessly.I haven't seen any of the excessive curling mentioned in previous reviews, but then again, I'm using a quality laser paper.I have ran a few larger print jobs, printing various manuals and it churns right through them. The best part is it's small enough to fit on my desk and still leaves me room to work, not like past laser printers I've owened.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great print quality and speed again
I have purchased this machine for the new compact design and high speed for the price. This machine has met every expectation for a personal laser printer in speed and quality.Print quality is very good.I would strongly recomend the HL-2040 where space is a necessity. Also Brothers lower opperating cost help.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing but problems
I can't print more than 10 pages before the printer has a "fuser unit failure" and has to sit for fifteen minutes before it will reset. This has happened 3 times so far and I am still waiting for the printer to reset as we speak.I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this piece of junk. ...
