Product Description

Share your USB printer and expand your network with one compact box!

The Linksys PrintServer for USB with 4-Port Switch is a double upgrade for your network. First, it lets you connect a USB printer directly to your network, eliminating the need to dedicate a PC to print serving chores. Using a PrintServer frees up your "print share PC" so you don't have to leave it on all the time. It also removes the printing bottleneck, and sets your PC free to do more useful work.

In addition, the PrintServer includes a 4-port 10/100 switch, so you can easily add more devices to your network. All four ports are auto speed negotiating, and have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently negotiates the best speed and half- or full-duplex mode, for up to 200Mbps of bandwidth per port. Fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on into the network.

A user-friendly Setup Wizard makes installation easy, the compact case fits anywhere, and the one megabyte print buffer size handles even large graphics-intensive print jobs. Let the Linksys PrintServer for USB with 4-Port Switch bring efficiency to your printing tasks and expand your network, in one cost-effective device.

  • Share a printer with everyone on your network -- works with most USB printers
  • Connect your printer directly to the network, with no need to dedicate a PC to print server chores
  • Also expands your network with a built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet switch
  • Remotely administered through your web browser or the included utility

2-0 out of 5 stars Works but often needs to be reset
I have been using the PSUS4 for about a year.It often gets locked up (The printsever not the ethernet part).I have to remove power for a short time to reset it.I'm using an HP 970cxi printer

1-0 out of 5 stars Good Luck Getting This to Work
I have spent hours trying to get this thing to work. The printer is a basic HP LaserJet 1300, nothing fancy and NOT an all-in-one/multifunction. Yet it's one thing after another with the installation and configuration and still, it doesn't work.

I buy LinkSys gear almost exclusively and have installed and used a ton of it - but this device is WAY OFF their usual standard of usability. I think they should recall this device and replace it with something that actually works.

The reviews of the D-Link are a lot better. I actually NEVER use D-Link but I may have to start because at this point I am giving up on the LinkSys.

4-0 out of 5 stars NO PROBLEM BUT...
If you are not very addicted to computers or technology this product may fet on your nerves.I bought three of these devices for my office and do not regret it.

First I had trouble as My printer would go "offline".After many months working with them I can tell you thet the real problem with these devices is that you must try to never turn them off.If you do it.You may have to take a look at the order in which you turn on the devices.First turn off everything, apply power, then turn on the print server and at last the printer ( I have used them with HP 1200 laserjet and Samsung Laser 1210, 1430 and 1450 ) Then you will see that the USB port is green and everything will work.

Another consideration is (not only with this Linksys print servers) try to use LPR printing as it is less "complex" and your printer will always be available.

I never turn them off so maybe that's why I do not have much trouble. Finally I would advice to use it with a recent printer. The ones I have used have worked but you never know really with this continuously evolving technology.

1-0 out of 5 stars Inferior product
I am far from a novice, but the unit was hard to set up because the wizard wouldn't find it at first. I then managed not to use the wizard and set it up manually.

I then found out that it does not work with my new Konica Minolta 2400W laser printer. The USB led doesn't light at all after I insert the USB cable. I tried different cables and different computers to no avail. It does work with my retired Epson C40UX, though.

The firmware in my unit is the latest one (6033) as of April 2005.

Linksys should either make a better product or, if not possible for technical reasons, warn costumers about incompatibilities. Interestingly, Konica Minolta does recommend a print server for my printer, the "SEH IC103 USB Pocket Print Server". It is not impossible, then.

I am now stuck with a US$60 4-port switch that I don't need. I would return the lemon but since I bought it in the US and live overseas, this is not an option.

I've had only good experiences with Linksys hardware before, including routers, access points and WiFi PCMCIA cards. This inferior product was a nasty surprise. Maybe now that Linksys is the "poor cousin" to Cisco, one should look for another brand that really wants to do their best for their costumers.

4-0 out of 5 stars No Problem Here
Not sure what the deal is with all the negative reviews.Maybe I just got real lucky, but I have had zero issues getting this print server to function. All my computers, both hard wired and wireless print without issue.I also made use of the expansion featuers by adding the switch to my network, which I also needed. For a few bucks more you get a switch and a print server. Not sure I like the power cord coming in from the side, but that is a minor issue. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The best FoxPro yet!
This is the most significant upgrade to Visual FoxPro since version 3.0. The Report Writer enhancements alone are worth the price of the upgrade, but there are also significant improvements in speed, expanded SQL syntax (very, very expanded!), better .NET interoperability, much easier use of GDI+ graphics, and more. VFP is still Microsoft's "stealth" app, but that's OK. It can be your "secret weapon" too--laugh while you get projects done in half the time it takes the poor souls stuck with .NET, and make them wonder how you do it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Information about lead, and the lack thereof in this product
Just a brief little bit of information for those concerned like I was, this product does NOT contain lead in it like the "Belkin Wave Rest Gel Mouse Pad Silver (F8E262-SLV)."

The lack of lead is, obviously a good thing. Below is Fellowes' official reply when I inquired about it with them:

"Fellowes Gel Wrist Rest & Mouse Pads do not contain lead. We hope this information is helpful."

4-0 out of 5 stars Serves the purpose
I work in my computer major portion of the day and I desparately needed a wrist rest to reduce my wrist pain and avoid anything like CTS or RSI. And this mouse rest and pad from fellowes works and helps solving the problem.

The wrist rest is comfortable. The sapphire blue looks good too.

The main problem is with the size, since this is too small. But if you remove the bottom pad (which is easily removable), you get the space you need as you can move the mouse pad and the wrist rest anyway you want it.

Overall, this wrist pad serves the purpose.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully comfortable
I know it seems gimmicky, but you'd be amazed how comfortable and soothing the wrist rest is.It's not stiff like some can be, but it still provides a lot of support. While it's a little graphic, but best way I can describe how it feels is like uncooked steak or pork- it has tension, but it also has give.Really, if I could have given a better description I would.I hope it doesn't turn you off from this product, I can't recommend it highly enough! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Going downhill
I have been using Macromedia Products since version 2 of Dreamweaver. I have a thorough knowledge of Dreamweaver and Fireworks. I have a bit less of Flash yet I do use it from time to time to create flash elements in sites that are primarily driven by html or xhtml code. I don't use Freehand because I think it is perhaps the most poorly implemented of all illustration programs bar none. I have always hoped that Macromedia would take Freehand seriously... and till this day I am still hoping.

Regarding the software...

Dreamweaver is by far the most popular web development software on the planet. In fact it has more users than all other web development platforms combined. This is a definite strength since you are able to find a tremendous amount of help around the Internet and in book stores.

Dreamweaver is still very good at what it does, however it has gone downhill with this most recent release (yes, I have installed the newest updater which does improve the software to a degree). The problems with the software are many. Macromedia has sacrificed a nice usable and professional interface for this 'flowery' looking gradient mess. Oh... it's pretty alright. The problem is I'm trying to get work done! The previous versions of the Studio have a much more professional interface. The program seems taxing to the system no matter how powerful your processor or how much ram you have. It also seems to have screen redraw issues. This is especially true when designing forms. Why that is... I have no idea. The way the program handles CSS is quirky at best. You need to basically go thru and make all these changes to the default behavior it is shipped with in order to get it to work and write CSS in an external style sheet else it will be written to the head of the current document (How stupid is that?). Macromedia should have used the Define Site Dialog box and asked developers if they wanted to create a CSS based site or used the older HTML methods. If a person chose CSS the program should have required them to enter the name of an external style sheet that all CSS would be written to by default. Then when using the property inspector, any changes to the design code would automatically be written to the external style sheet and not to the head or body of the document. It definately needs drastic improvement if it will ever be at the level of other Professional CSS coding software (think TopStyle Pro).

Another issue with Dreamweaver that I have is with its lack of ability to support a dual monitor configuration without major bugs, headaches, and screen redraw issues. I know many developers that have gone over to the dual monitor approach to development because of a tremendously improved work flow. YOu could have the design Window in one monitor and the code window in the other (Go to Window -- Code Inspector -- or hit F10). Once the code inspector is open, you can drag it over to the second monitor and thus develop both visually and with code. However, the newest DW version has some serious issues when you do this. First of all, you can't maximize the code window... so you have to manually drag one corner and size it yourself. The other is when you are between documents and have no current document open. The program seems like it just wants to crash, drawing and redrawing the entire interace. 'What in the world is going on here?' is the question that comes to mind minus profanities!

Flash has improved and is more powerful than previous version being more 'coder friendly' and allowing flash apps to be built using a forms based approach although I think they made a big mistake in making two versions of the software. It just confuses people and now is harder to share work within a team unless everybody is using the exact same version! Bad decision Macromedia.

Fireworks is probably the program in the group that deserves the highest honors. It is tops in the field of web graphics and functionality. I put it over Photoshop/ImageReady because it is specifically designed for the web whereas Photoshop is trying to be all things to all people. And to people who need that functionality, Photoshop is King! However, Fireworks is significantly easier to learn and use than PS. It will do anything you could possibly want in creating web graphics and eliminates all the functions that a print designer needs. Fireworks is for the web... not print. If that is acceptable for your work load.... use it!

Freehand is dead at this point in my eyes. Illustrator and Coreldraw are both vastly superior in usability and power. Freehand is a clunky and bug ridden program that does poorly what Illustrator does masterfully! Evidently Freehand has also taken a back seat in the eyes of Macromedia too. Freehand has always been delivered much later than the rest of the Studio. Even to this day in June of 2004, Freehand is still one version behind the rest of the software even though the MX 2004 Studio has been released for nearly a year (August 2003)! Some have argued that Macromedia purposely delays Freehand so that they can make more money off the developers who have already bought the current Studio and then need to purchase an upgrade to the latest Freehand. So perhaps this is a marketing ploy used in order to make more money. My opinion is that they will make more money if they improve their software, eliminate bugs, drop the 'flowerly' interace, and release the Studio as one release for both Mac and Windows (This means no 'pro' and 'non-pro' versions, all version share the same name...MX 2004 or whatever). Another note, Mac users should not be considered second class web developers. This particular offering for Mac users is particularly bad because of the bugs and speed of the software.

The best I can rate this offering is two stars... hopefully things will change in the near future. All that being said, I still consider myself a fan of Macromedia software... and just think they had a major hickup here with this latest offering.

4-0 out of 5 stars Studio MX 2004 @
Macromedia has shown their strength in web development applications over the past few years by introducing a line of amazing applications. The key applications are part of the Studio MX 2004 package which we will be exploring today. Macromedia has really outdone themselves this time by bringing out a package that delivers an all-in-one solution. Let's look at the great applications involved in developing the best web content there is from Macromedia!...full review @

3-0 out of 5 stars Great products, weak upgrade for Mac owners
I really like Macromedia software, in general. I do, however, find it slow on my (months old) Mac, under Panther. Both Adobe and Apple's recent product upgrades seemed to speed their software up greatly (hey, wow, upgrades can DO that???) but these new versions of Dreamweaver and Flash are an insult to Mac users.

The software is the slowest I use, even with plentiful memory in my computer. Even after Flash's belated patch that was released, the software is still unsatisfactory to me. There's no real reason for this software to be so incredibly slow and buggy! Often I have these programs quit for no reason, I can't think of one other piece of software I use on my Mac that does such things.

I haven't tried the MX 2004 Windows versions, but I haven't heard such complaints from Windows users. I wish that Macromedia would work a little harder on their Mac versions.

Sorry I'm not getting into too many specifics about the software. In general, you can't beat the features of Dreamweaver in its class (nor, obviously, Flash, who is alone in the field anymore) but it's not worth the time-consuming workarounds to get it all working well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Studio MX 2004 - Macromedia Continues to Impress!
If you are serious about working on the web whether novice or professional, you cannot get any better than the Macromedia products. I've owned the suite since the second version was out and, with the exception of Adobe PhotoShop, the Macromedia products are the ONLY thing I ever use.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 with Flash Pro continues the tradition of creating seamless code so you have to do very little tweeking - only if you know how and need to do so! It saves me so much time in coding and I can trust that it will not add extensions that are not viewable by all, such as the Frontpage product. It has roundtrip HTML, meaning you can easily add your own code, modify existing code, etc. without any problems at all.

The interface builds upon MX by making CSS much more powerful. You can view your CSS styles incase you forgot what it looked like very much as you would a font in Microsoft Word 2000. The pallets are more intuitive and takes a slight adjustment to get used to from MX. Dreamweaver MX 2004 also has more robust features with added internal extensions to make your code bank stronger. The simple drag and drop method makes it so easy to use. I've used the MX 2004 version for about a month now and am thoroughly impressed. It's a significant upgrade and worth the money.

Flash MX 2004 Pro and Fireworks MX Pro simply build more functionality and makes life much easier. Flash MX Pro has more powerful tools for backend developers, video streaming and WAP devices.

The interface for all of the products are very easy to learn. I am a professional now, but have used the products prior to becoming professional and it has helped me to make my transition from professional counselor to full-time web developer a dream come true! If I can use it, ANYONE can!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value/features for price, good sound, fairly easy.
If you're like me, you've probably spent way too much time making a decision on your first MP3 player to buy and are afraid you're going to make a wrong choice. I was a little nervous going with this more "economical" model, but ended up pleasantly surprised. Bearing in mind this is the only portable MP3 player I've owned so far, I'll base my review on what I was looking to get out of the player for my needs. I decided to consider Creative Labs in the first place because they've been making solid computer sound products for over a decade, and I've found their PC soundcards to be far superior to others in their price range.

If you're sitting there thinking "All I want is a good player so I can have tunes while I'm excercizing, without spending a firtune, and I don't want to spend 10 hours learning how to use it" then I would say that this is the one for you.

Size & weight - The unit itself is very small and light, easy to stick in your pocket and easy to forget about if you've got it strapped to your wrist or arm with the velcro strap (included). Picture a bic cigarette lighter, maybe just a tad heavier because of the little AAA battery it takes.

Sound - very surprising for it's price range and size. While the pickiest of audophiles out there might find something lacking, I certainly can't for all it's intents and purposes. The sound is clear and strong enough that you'll never have to turn it up all the way. Adjust the EQ a little based on your music and you should have no problems.

Unit Interface / Menu - navigating the menu is fairly easy, but it can get a little bit tiresome if you're trying to take advantage of the "extra" features. It's a simple scroll left & right "choose an option" kind of menu that causes you to go back and forth a bit while you're learning it, but it's still easy to understand. The buttons are tiny, but that hasn't presented a problem for me.

Completeness - there's nothing more to buy. It comes with earbuds, a velcro armband/wristband, a AAA battery, and software for copying your music files to it. The earbuds are not top of the line but they're just fine for general use and I like getting everything I need in one order!

Software and Setup - very easy. The "brain" slides out of the unit and plugs into your USB port. The software CD walks you through an easy installation process and makes it easy for you to drag & drop tunes into it. There are advanced features for special playlists and such, but I haven't bothered with it. I just want to plug it in, throw some music on it, and press play to hear music. I was able to do that without reading the manual, so I don't really care about the special features right now.

Extra goodies - aside from special playlist stuff you can do with the software, it has a built in microphone to record sound with. Don't expect great quality audio from the record mode. Consider it an easy way to take notes without a pen, and not much more. The FM radio feature is nice. It will let you easily "auto-program" the strongest station signals near you, and it's pretty simple to delete the ones you don't want and save the ones you do. You can also copy computer files to it, such as digital photos, word documents, excel, zip, etc... which makes it double as a flash drive.

Storage - I've found the 128mb to be enough space for about 2 hours of MP3's. You can fit more on it if you use WMA files instead of MP3. 2 hours of tunes is enough for my needs (and yes of course you can delete songs to add more) but if you think you need more then go for the 256 or 512.

This unit gives you more control over the playlist / songs than some other units that are much more expensive. Sure, you can just turn it on and let it play, or shuffle, but you can ALSO create ordered playlists and have more control if you want. More than I can say for some "trendy" common names you see brandished about ;)

My bottom line - you cannot go wrong with this, especially at it's price (at the time of writing this) of $67. This is the answer for anyone looking for a fast solution to their basic portable MP3 player needs, with a couple of extra fun/handy goodies on top.

If you're sitting there torturing yourself over a decision right now, and all you really want is a fast easy solution to portable tunes, then just buy this with confidence right now. You'll have it out of the package and playing your music within 15 minutes. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars writes anything round -- 6 stars
If your first concern is quality then plextor is for you.If you're time is worth nothing, and you like the hair pulling experience of compensating for a poorly engineering product then plextor is not for you.

Plextor's new AutoStrategy technology, allows perfect writes -- now more than ever.Verily Plextor can write ANYTHING ROUND.One may buy the cheapest media say $0.19 DVD-R and simply "sacrafice" four discs and the plextor (sanyo base) hardware in concert with the plextor (taiyo yuden assist) firmware will develop it's own customized write strategy to assure one receivesFLAWLESS BURNS that not only play fine in plextor but in other playback devices!

The bundled PlexTools has most of the features one could want with any burner software. Its audio extraction mode FAR SURPASSES boring old EAC.For a few more dollars the PlexTools XL edition gives serious tweaking power to geeks.

If you can honestly claim zero coasters you are probably using a Plextor!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great drive
Got it two weeks ago from for an amazing $171.00.The drive itself was manufactured Feb 2005.

The drive is amazing. No coasters yet, I have been burning DVD+Rs, DVD+RWs and one DVD+R at 16x, and have had no problems at all.I will try a DVD+R DL soon, thanks to's Verbatim DL DVD+R sale ($21.99-$8 rebate for 3).

The utilities and software that come with it are the best.

Highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great performing and good looking drive
I bought this multi-format drive in order to burn home movies to DVD and back up data from the 'puter.Simply put, it rocks. It will burn any available format and is easy and simple to set up.Plus, it's good looking and, when mounted vertically, takes up very little desk space.

For those of you looking into copying video,as I was, the kind of burner you get is only half the story.I had to upgrade my computer from 256k of RAM to 1Gb...yes, that's 1 Gig, of RAM.Otherwise, the rendering would take forever and you couldn't run any other processes during the copying. The software choices you make are also critical. The plextor ships with Roxio which seems to work pretty well, but I'm in the process of switching over to 1Click dvd copy which seems to work better for video.

5-0 out of 5 stars as the tiger would say it's GRRRREAT
I buy a plextor about every other model. This one is a GRRRREAT replacement for my Toshiba laptop el-crapo-burner.

The great ease and power of plextor in a nice portable format.Use it on your laptop, take it with you to back up other computers.Plays well with Ghost. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice package
The RA8xxx Series from Sony is very nice.Big plus is the cooling system. The machine is super quiet. The integrated Home Media support is a nice bonus.I don't think I'd want to use one of these as a TiVo replacement but for a home machine it's tough to beat from a combination of style, power, features and performance.

Negatives are the crappy mouse and keyboard and having to burn your own Recovery software.

1-0 out of 5 stars buyer beware!!
Just bought this yesterday at compusa. Will be taking it back tomorrow morning. This is the 5th computer I have owned and the worse I have ever seen. Sony has allot of wonderful software on this system and impressive 5.1 speakers that come with it. But you are screwed if you have to do a system recovery. Followed the directions and spent 2 hours making recovery disks before putting any of my software on it, only to find out that when it tries to recover your system it prompts you to insert disk #1 and press ok. Guess what? You can't press ok because your wireless mouse and keyboard are no longer functional. And turning off the computer wiped out ALL my system restore checkpoints. So I couldn't even restore to a earlier time. When I tried it again I then got a message that it couldn't locate the recovery partion. And forget about any type of help from the website or the non-existant user manual. The only help they had was to change the batteries in the mouse and keyboard (they already had brand new batteries). ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Use with Caution.....
Unless your a bookkeeper geek, Peachtree is not something you can do alone. For those who enjoy bookkeeping and have assistance from a some-time Accountant, it is sufficently flexible to handle your needs. It's not cheap and to evaluate properly consider: training, 3rd party charges and Best Software nickel and diming you for every little thing. For example, this upgrade is totally unnecessary, except to obsolete their earlier versions. One finds very little changing and what does change, is unimpressive -- most items on the above feature list are not new.

1-0 out of 5 stars Full of Bugs and Slow
We are forced here to give it one star - The program deserves NONE!

We couldn't agree more with the comments below. The product is
extremely unreliable and slow. We have been struggling with this for several years now and the last upgrade seemed to have made things even worse. We will have to look for another program.
Not recommended

1-0 out of 5 stars There are better software out there!
Please look around and be more futuristic.
Peachtree has lots of unfixed bugs and is out dated. I tested some software and found some really good, with reasonable price: BusinessWorks, Small Business Manager (, Quick Business Manager (,Vision Point 2000 (ACCPAC), BusinessVision 32 (Softline).

Good Luck in your search.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hard Har Har, Very complex!
We are not in an industrial age any more! We want better software, much easier to use, and better interface. Why Peachtree is that hard? Remember DOS? How hard it was when Windows came about? Now peachtree is like that if you have used better software: Old tech.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but there are better alternatives
Peachtree is ok, but I do not recommend it for several reasons:
1.It has a very old interface.Make you tired and bored after a while!
2.Very complex. For example, you have to type 10.00, instead of just 10!
3.Old technology: Now we are in 2005 not in 1990!

And other thing I did not like.

I would personally recommend Small Business Manager (SBM) from Microsoft or another alternative and less expensive is Quick Business Manager (QBM) from Business Aim There other software I could recommend but it seems that these two are really using great technologies such as Microsoft .Net and SQL Server. Good Luck.

Take your productivity to the next level wherever you roam with the Compaq Presario R4025US notebook PC. With a powerful AMD Athlon 64-bit processor and large 15.4-inch screen, you'll be able to effortlessly multitask. It also features a strong ATI Radeon Xpress video/graphics card with 128 MB of dedicated video RAM--great for multimedia presentations. It has a Firewire port for connecting an iPod and video camcorders, dual-layer DVD-/+RW drive (which also burns CDs)--wlhich can burn up to 8.5 GB of data to compatible DVDs--and a multi-format memory card reader. The R4010US also offers a large 80 GB hard drive, 1 GBof installed RAM, and 54g wireless connectivity with 125 HSM/SpeedBooster support.

The Basics

  • Hard Drive: The 80 GB hard drive (4200 RPM) is a bit above average in size for notebook PCs, providing more than enough capacity for storing documents, digital media files, and productivity software.
  • Processor: AMD's Athlon 64 3200+ processor is built for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, which will require a processor with significant power. This 2.0 GHz processor offers a system bus with speeds up to 2000 MHz and 512 KB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.) It includes such AMD features as HyperTransport Technology (which increases the communication between integrated circuits) and Cool'n'Quiet Technology that conserves power while also keeping the notebook's decibels to a minimum.
  • Memory: The 1 GB of built-in memory (2 x 512 MB, DDR SDRAM) is well suited to today's demanding multimedia and business productivity software, and it features a faster than average speed (333 MHz). It has two memory slots in total, with a maximum memory expansion up to 2 GB (2 x 1024 MB).
  • CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the V2220US multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer DVD+R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data.
  • Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a 101-key keyboard and a touchpad with on/off button and dedicated vertical/horizontal Scroll Up/Down pad.
Screen, Graphcs and Sound
The high-definition 15.4-inch WXGA BrightView widescreen display--with 1280 x 800-pixel resolution--has 18 percent more screen information than a 15-inch XGA, providing visibility of two applications side by side for greater productivity and multi-tasking. The BrightView feature provides a 20 percent brighter screen for better definition and 33 percent wider viewing angle for more accurate, off-center viewing when sharing files files. Video and graphics are powered by the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, which provides 128 MB of dedicated video memory. It also has HP Premium audio and internal stereo speakers.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The R4025US has an integrated 54g wireless LAN that's fully compatible with 802.11b/g wireless networks. The 125 HSM/SpeedBooster support will enable it to be ready for tomorrow's 125 Mbps wireless LANs. It also includes a next-generation ExpressCard 54/34 card slot, which lets you take advantage of thinner, faster, and lighter expansion cards for even more advanced wireless, networking, storage, and security features. You get a very good offering of connectivity options, which does include super-fast USB 2.0 and Firewire:

  • 4 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
  • 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
  • 1 VGA monitor port
  • 1 S-Video port for connecting to a TV
  • 1 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type I/II, 32-bit)
  • 1 headphone jack and 1 microphone jack
  • 1 Expansion Port 2 connector
  • 6-in-1 Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Sticks, Memory Stick Pro, SmartMedia, and XD Picture Cards
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).

Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 operating system with Advanced Security Technologies, which helps to reduce unwanted downloads and pop-ups while surfing the Web. It also comes preloaded with Microsoft Works (for working with word processing and spreadsheet documents), Norton AntiVirus 2005 (with 60 days of complimentary updates), Microsoft Money 2005, MSN Encarta Plus, Sonic RecordNow, Apple iTunes, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition, Intervideo WinDVD, and MuVee Autoproducer.

Dimensions and Weight
This notebook measures 14.25 x 11.2 x 1.88 inches and weighs 7.85 pounds.

It's powered by a 8-cell rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which has a battery life of up to 3 hours (depending on usage).
