5-0 out of 5 stars The best (Targus) with the best (Dell)
After having used a Targus Notebook Case for two years, with excellent results, with a NEC laptop, I decided that the next Leather Case would be a Targus. The CLN5 is outstanding and it goes very well with my Dell Inspiron 8200 which I just acquired. After spending around $2,000.00 plus for the Dell 8200, I could not buy just any case. It had to be the best(Targus) in order to go with the best(Dell 8200). Needless to say, when I saw the Amazon.com price of [price] I knew this was what I was looking for. No if's and but's about it. I just bought it knowing that Amazon sells only the best. Highly recommend it to anyone, specially if you have an expensive Dell Notebook. Through Amazon.com of course.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Excelent Laptop Case".....
The Quality is excelent and I recommend to any person that looks for a computer case with very good price and comtemporary appearance. Superior and finest leather finish. Excelent product. Zomar.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost the best notbook bag ever
I've had this bag for over a year, and it has held up tremedously - with one exception. The clasps on the shoulder strap bent open, but was able to bend them back using a pliers. The bag is a bit heavy due to the leather, but it looks so much better than any nylon one.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best a business traveler could buy
This laptop leather case is great, it is genuine leather and looks great. It has several pockets and sections for you to keep files , floppies, cd's , adapter, battery, etc.

A great and must buy for laptop users.Period ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent "messenger-style" laptop bag!
I have found this to be an excellent light-weight laptop bag for my 4 pound Sony Vaio, but it would easily accomodate a much larger laptop (say, the Dell Inspiron with 15 inch screen). I bought it based on the light weight and unique design compared to many of the traditional laptop cases that you see out there. Even with the laptop and media slice, there is still room in the bag's compartments for my firewire hard drive, headphones, and AC adapter (plus pens, papers, and other sundries). The shoulder strap has a nice quick-adjust feature and the shoulder pad is well bolstered with a non-slip material, so you don't have to worry about it sliding off and falling. Obviously, this case isn't going to be quite as sturdy as a larger, heavier case, but in a year of use it has protected my goods without a problem. The rubberized bottom "tire tread" protects against accidental drops and there is adequate padding inside to protect the screen (but I wouldn't go slinging it around). The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars is the fact that it may not be secure enough for the largest laptops on the market, those with 16 inch screens. For anything under 6 pounds, I would definitely recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best lightweight
This is a 2-main compartment bag. In my determine of size, single compartment bags have just 1 compartment for the notebook. Flat flap pockets do not count. So this is the 2nd thinnest bag and possibly close to the lightest(1 1/2lb I think). It comes with nice soft strap and soft flexible compartments to accommodate odd shape objects. Its modern looking, suitable for most applications. I think this is the best size, weight, layout, look combination. Mine carries my HP notebook+PS+mouse, with space for cell, small digital camera and 2 books. The only downsides are the lack of a handle; and being a messenger bag, it can't stand upright.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great bag
I looked and looked for a bag that woudl fit my dell 8100 and this was really the only one I could find that was under [money]. its great but I I wish there were a couple of more pockets for CD's or disks etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I have a satellite 5000-S507 and was having trouble finding a case to fit it. This is perfect. I can fit the laptop, an external mouse, ac adapter, external floppy drive, telephone cable and cd's. All of this and the two outside pouches are not even used! It has a heavy duty detachable shoulder strap and an easy grip handle. It also has a pad lockable zipper. I love the fact that i can just open the top and use my computer without even taking it out of the case. It provides very good padding support. The case is slim compared to the others i have seen and does not even look like laptop could be in it...good for sneaking some pc gaming into the work place. I am very happy with this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect case for ultraportables
This is the perfect case for the 3.5lb subnotebooks, it has an extremely durable ballistic nylon exterior that holds up to abrasion, unlike the faux leather/vinyl that readily tears, especially where the strap attaches and rubs against it. Where the vinyl case rapidly looks ragged and beaten up, this case still looks pristine and new.
The compartment is sized for the smaller notebooks, which is its intended purpose- it's not supposed to be an overnight bag; if that's what you need, a different model would be in order.

The velcro on the outer flap is a noisy on opening, but it does hold well-
It has a decent amount of compartments, with an outer flap to hold the accessories such as ac adapter, mouse etc.
Another compartment on the back is great for quick storage of papers and folders.
The hardware and carrying strap is very well made and will hold up to daily use with no problems.

Highly recommended for subnotebook users; very sharp looking case that affords good protection and durability.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fits large computers, but don't expect too much
This bag is roomy enough to fit comfortably even my Dell Inspiron 8100 with 15.1" screen (the dimensions of my laptop are 13.03" wide, 10.8" deep, and 1.75" thick, which is apparently quite large in the laptop universe). However, it's obviously Targus's no-frills model.

It's quite slim, which can be good for short jaunts, but also comes with some disadvantages. Most obviously, the padding is skimpy. That applies not only to that around the main compartment but also to that covering the handle (made of really stiff fake leather) and the detachable shoulder strap. "Marginal" would be too generous a description; this case is definitely not made for long trips with heavy interiors, not unless you expect to be shifting the bag from shoulder to shoulder or hand to hand every few moments.

Also, there aren't many extra pockets. In fact, there's only one external pocket (the 13" x 9" x 2" one), which opens and closes only by Velcro, and has no sub-pockets. Yes, there are smaller subdivided pockets inside the main compartment where your computer will live, and this compartment nicely opens with dual sturdy zippers along three of four sides. But these smaller subdivided pockets face directly onto your precious laptop itself, without any padding other than the thin film of nylon that holds your extra goodies in place. Personally I would never use those pockets for anything firm and bumpy, even pens, for fear of cracking my laptop's case. That makes those pockets basically unusable unless for soft things like papers, which would fit better in the outer pocket anyway.

There's also a gimmicky removable divider in the main compartment just in case your notebook is so small that you can fit your AC adapter right beside it in the main compartment, in which case you can use the padded divider (detachable by Velcro, of course) to create separate living spaces for those two items. There's also a Velcro strap in the main compartment to restrain your laptop in its living space.

Basically, this case is adequate, for low expectations. But high expectations would include being comfortable carrying the case and bringing lots of additional items, for example if you want this to be your only carry-on piece of luggage. The only way you'd fit your hardback Harry Potter in this bag is if you left your computer at home. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool as anything, but what if...
this is officially one of the coolest things i've seen in a while, but my obscure mind begs a question...

what if you had a twin? identical, same fingerprints? i know, odds are against it, but think about it! sensitive data and an evil twin... this worries me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Targus w/ USB hub is the best fingerprint Bio capture device
On a direct comparison of Biometric Capture Devices for finger prints this is the best that I have used, and I use many.

The advantages of this device are:
1. Faster than the older/larger chipset.
2. Convienient USB hub so that you don't loose a port for a device you use only to logon and unlock.
3. Easier to get used to than other finger print devices (print placement).
4. easer to use on any of your ten fingers, as with a bio enabled mouse you may find that you can only easily use your right thumb.

My recomendation though is not to use the software bundled with the device, but to get SAFsolution Enterprise Eddition SAFlink Co. (OTC:BB-SFLK) and use that, as it works for local and network accounts, and can be centrally deployed for domain wide security.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quirkey Security
The Targus Defcon fingerprint security device itself is works fine. However, the SecureSuite 3.1 software that comes with it suffers from a number of bugs and inconveniences:

1) It does not work with Windows XP
2) It hangs the MS Internet Explorer when accessesing a page with two password fields.
3) It does not support network user accounts, only local logons.
4) It makes attaching to network file and print shares troublesome.

These problems make the device unusable in many typical workplace or home networking environments.

Supposedly there is a software package available free from Targus to provide security for Windows XP. However, the version of SecureSuite (3.5) that reportedly resolves the above problems for Windows 2000 users is not yet available from Targus.

My advice: Don't buy this device until it comes with software that works in real-world computing environments.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mobile Notebook Lock
the things o-kay.It is a good price, and laptops are usually $1,000-$2,000. Believe me if you are looking for a great quality laptop, then you want want another laptop, but if you want a one to play around with, then take it.Otherwize search for others on Amazon because AMAZON IS THE BEST!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Locking System
I am very happy with my cable lock. Although it does not make your computer equal to Fort Knox, it will at the very least slow a would-be theif down. I can hang my 8lb laptop off of it, and bounce it up and down with the cable, and it holds firm (trial conducted over my bed, a heavily padded surface). I like how the cable swivels around the actual lock to avoid the cable kinking, and becoming cumbersome. I also like the fact that it is a key operated system. Although combinations are quicker, they can be hacked in about 5 minutes of trying, and slipping a key in the lock and giving a quick turn can't be any simpler. Just remember to keep one key in a safe place, and write the key serial number down somewhere so a replacement can be found. For the money, I don't think there is a better security option for notebook computers, unless you spend the ... on a doberman puppy, and train it to attack computer theifs. But that would be hard. Buy this lock system, and it could save you .... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars THE POINT---Im using it and not just for camera
I am one of those people with several high tech small equipments who is always on the go.

This bag is great. I'm using it for my VAIO V505EC Sony laptop. It works wonders. hey, I dont normally write reviews bec. it takes most of my time, but I have to recommend this bag.

I am advising people to buy this if they want a backpack for their small equipment. Dont think about those bulky SLR cameras or 15-17 inches of laptop. Think portability. If you want to glide around the city withouth an aching back then I want you to buy this camera/laptop/ipod backpack.

Hey, you may be wondering how in the world am I going to fit my sony vaio laptop,eh? well, the dividers you see in the photo is quite deceiving. its just velcro divider- that means you can manipulate the end and stuff. Anyway, to hold my laptop, I use two velcro divider to strap ot. Truthfully, I end up using a longer velcro from another bag. It works well! my expensive laptop is held togther by the strap bec of the velcro.

No more descriptiopn of the velcor. its boring me.

Bottom line---this bag is cheap and on SALE. You cant go wrong bec it is made from good material and it has pockets for batteries and films. Targus struck my heart with such ingenuity.

Im taking my time writing this review bec. i love this bag. backpacks and cases from sony will cost me 80 dollars (not including the hideous tax and repulsive shipping fee). Well, i got a free gigantic laptop bag from Sony..huhuhu.. I'm petite size 5'3 so I look pathetic with the gigantic bag over me. But with this bag, no body knows that I have a laptop in it. Its a humble bag. I am not scared to walk around New York with it.

There--i poured my heart. Just give me a call if you want to chat. :) Mwaa!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bag-But Not for SLR Cameras
As usual from Targus, this is a great bag: well thought out and excellent sturdy construction. But, in spite of the Pro Series in the name, it is definitely not a Pro bag. The bag is not appropriate for SLR cameras or even Prosumer level video. It is great for consumer level products, with enough room for a point and shoot and handheld camcorder and accessories, and some other gadgets, like a separate pouch that attaches to the front strap for your cell phone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A decent bag, but not the best for SLR camera
Got it and used for a while. This is a nice-made backpack for outdoor/indoor video or photography. The material is light weighted and strong; wide shoulder strap very comfortable; thick foam stuffing to protect anything inside from shock.
However, be aware that it does NOT fit most SLR cameras with lens on, because the adjustable interior dividers are designed to be placed like a cross there, which give four rooms with roughly sqare shapes. I have to either move one divider up and tilt the camera a little bit to set it in, or take off the long focal lens. The total capacity is large though. I can add my digital camera, charger, flash, camcorder, lots of accessories.
And one more, it is inexpensive.

4-0 out of 5 stars A little more padding would have been great
The backpack is made from rip stop nylon and does a good job forming a solid feeling box around your camera thanks to plastic tubes and stays sown into the backpack which help the backpack to keep its shape. There is a mesh pocket on the front of the pack and a larger, mesh pocket on the inside of the pack. There are also strips of material on the shoulder straps to hold canisters of film.

The pack offers four compartments for stowing your camera gear. The size of the compartments can be varied thanks to Velcro fasteners to allow for larger or smaller equipment. The back of the pack is stiff and padded which is nice when you have awkward shaped gear in the pack so that it does not jab into your back.

The only downside to the pack is that I was hoping for a bit more padding on the inside. Granted, I can adjust the height of the compartments, but the width and depth are not adjustable. I would have liked to see a bit more padding or foam to keep my camera and lenses from bouncing around in the backpack.

If the backpack came with more padding, I would give it 5 stars. However, I will probably buy another bag in the future or add foam to this pack to better protect my equipment. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Targus Stowaway portable keyboard for Sony Clié enables you to quickly and comfortably enter text into your handheld without having to carry around a full-size desktop keyboard. The Stowaway keyboard is a full-size keyboard when open but folds instantly to about the size of your Clié. This portable keyboard has the same key spacing as a standard desktop keyboard so it's comfortable to use. Plus, at only 7.9 ounces it won't weigh you down.

This Stowaway keyboard is compatible with Sony Clié PEG-N760C, PEG-N610C/S, PEG-N610C/V, and PEG-S320 models. It is not compatible with T415 and T615 models.

Installation of the Keyboard application onto your Sony Clié is easily accomplished during a typical HotSync. (To prepare the app for HotSync, simply add it to Install Tool on Windows.) Because the keyboard only needs power while it is actually being used, the effect on the overall battery life of your Clié will be minimal.

To operate the keyboard with your handheld, click the Stowaway open from its folded position, lay it flat, and slide the keyboard parts together (it's separated into thirds for folding). Then, simply attach your handheld and start typing in a text-based program.

You can do virtually all your work without taking your fingers off the keyboard with the Stowaway. The four custom keys on the right side of the keyboard (Date Book, Address, To Do List, and Memo Pad) are preprogrammed shortcut keys to activate certain applications, but they can be customized with the Keyboard application.

Placing the keyboard on a firm, flat surface offers the best results, because of the folding design. However, you can use it on your lap as long as the keyboard is supported by a magazine or book across its open expanse. --Agen G.N. Schmitz ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I was thinking wrong... Hope people don't make same mistake
well... I have Ipaq 3835. accessing online through activesync. when host computer is occupied by my wife, I use pocket pc to access online. I figure adding this keyboard will make it easier for chatting.
guess what... since pocket pc port is taken by keyboard there isn't way to make connection to host computer. I know it sounds stupid but it really didn't occur to me before I actually going through connections physically. I thought that I'm just adding a keyboard but didn't realize I'm replacing activesync connections for it.

Ideal would be, keyboard to have hook up port for activesync and power on the side that it replaces cradle all together (I might be asking for too much here)

I ended up purchasing compact flash expansion pack and CF modem to accomplish what I initially intended to do (online chatting on pocket pc with full size keyboard)

about hardware... it certainly is the best keyboard available today 1/20/03 for ipaq yet I can't say it's perfect.

keyboard really needs to be on a completely flat SOLID surface. if not, keyboard will bounce on every key stroke that you can't read the screen while you type.

as far as 3800 series adapter goes.. it's pain to carry it extra and it's even more pain trying to plug it into keyboard, but it's got power connector on the side. if you decide to write pages and pages using the keyboard, you don't have to worry about unplugging the keyboard and charging pocket pc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely A Good Buy
While this keyboard is in no way a perfect piece of equipment, it certainly comes very close. I'll go ahead and start with the pros. Ease of use is incredible. Within minutes of unpacking it, I was typing happily away. Driver installation is a piece of cake, unfold this beauty, dock your Pocket PC, and you're set. Sure, it is not incredibly sturdy on your lap, but as long as it stays on something hard (briefcase, desk, airplane table tray, whatever), it feels just like you're typing on a premium laptop keyboard. There are gobs of shortcut keys built right in, Today, Inbox, Contacts, Word, Tasks, to name a few, and with the software you can create so many more to satisfy your every need. A lot of people feel that it is too flimsy, and while it does feel as such, it certainly isn't. The only thing that really bothered me is the dock for the actual PC, another reviewer put it very well, "feels as if it's a toothpick holding up an apple". No problems though, so I suppose that I really can't complain. When you're done, pull off your PC, stick the dock down, fold it up, and you're off to your next class, seminar, meeting, whatever. If you're looking for something to make data entry much faster and easier, then you definitely need to get this keyboard. Great piece of work here, Targus. Keep it up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable, compact, great action
I've had this keyboard for over 2.5 years now and it still works great. I used it to take notes on my Ipaq all through law school. It is compact enough to slip into a small pocket in my backpack. It sets up and docks in no time.

The best feature is the keystroke action. The keyboard is full-size and types beautifully. I would prefer it to most laptops I have typed on.

Having hotkeys programmed and programmable to launch individual programs is nice. The only improvement I would like to see would be support for MS Word type hotkeys such as Ctrl-U for underline and Ctrl-I for italics. Cut, Copy, and Paste (Ctrl-x,c,v) hotkeys do work, however.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3900 adapter
Inside the package the adapter was missing. I made contact with customer service on targus.com, they sent me the adapter free of charge and deliver it for me to Costa Rica, where i live!, Great service!

5-0 out of 5 stars No keyboard is better!
I had one of these for my first PDA which was an IBM Workpad, and no other keyboards compare. I currently have a Compaq 3955 and was very pleased to see the keyboard already comes with the adapter (the product description says you have to request the adapter separately from Targus)!

I tried a wireless keyboard, but I had to turn off my infrared port, enable the wireless input, then turn my PDA upside down so it could communicate with the keyboard. Other keyboards were shaped funny and didn't feel too natural. I quickly tired of all this and decided to go back to the Targus Stowaway. Amazon has a great deal and I got this at almost half the price it would have cost at the store.

This is still the best keyboard in my opinion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What's all the fuss??
I bought the case to go with my IPAQ 3765 and keyboard. At first I thought there was no way I was going to get the PDA and the keyboard to fit. I even have an expansion pack with a compact flash card hooked onto my IPAQ. I had to "assist" the keyboard a little but it fit just fine. As far as the PDA is concerned, mine fits with no problem and I'd gather it's a bit more bulky than some of the other ones (don't forget I have an expansion pack added on). Also keep in mind that it's leather and as we all remember while growing up and having to buy leather shoes, LEATHER STRETCHES!!

I will add that I like a zippered enclosure for my PDA but that's merely a preference. Nonetheless, I can charge it without having to take it out of the case (not to mention synchronize).

I'm still trying to figure out why everybody complained about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Koskin case is great!
I picked up the Koskin case because of the bad reviews of the Leather case. Immediately I liked it! My Jornada 520 fits very nicely into the PDA compartment. In fact, I don't even need to attach the velcrow because there is a spiffy security rail that prevents your PDA from sliding around (Not even mentioned in product description)!!! My stowaway keyboard fits snuggly (I'd like to say perfectly!) in the keyboard compartment, and I was particularly impressed with the Stylus Loop. It's big enough to hold my bigger HP stylus as opposed to the one from avenues in leather (which is over twice the price of this!). The case is very sturdy and it looks great! It's a shame the koskin one is getting such a bad rep because it's listed the same as the leather one. I think it's entirely different.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice PDA Case
I only have 1 problem with this case, and it's the lack of belt clip or another sort of hanger. the lack of this make it unpractical to use it outside the briefcase.

3-0 out of 5 stars think again before making a purchase.
stowaway keyboard is well protected on it's own. metal shielded when it's fold. Ipaq already come with protected case. what people really need is bag to put in accessories. such as cables, adaptors, CF memories.. etc. I feel redundent opening the zipper to find everything is already protected inside.

1-0 out of 5 stars Targus Universal Case is not practical for power users
I was looking forward to receiving my case, as I have a Targus case for my laptop, and am extremely satisfied with it. This case is made just as well.
Beware, this is not for anyone who uses an expansion pack or any accessories would want to purchase. First, there is very little room. When I put my Targus keyboard in and zipped it up, I was not able to completely zip it in all the way to the end. There is no room for any of the connectors nor for the required IPAQ adapter.
To put your PocketPC in, you will find that you need to use Velcro stick-ons on your PocketPC. The PocketPC is only held into place with Velcro! and the strap that holds the cover over the PocketPC does not latch!
To me this is 100% unacceptable. I do not want any sticky objects on my pocket PC. If you stick the velcro to your handheld, then you would not be able to use your expansion pack nor any other acceories that attach to the PocketPC in that manner. It would not feel right in your hand and would not lay flat on a desk. It would look ugly from the rear. Who wants velcro patches on their PocketPC anyway?
So, just for this reason, I strongly suggest finding other alternatives. I plan to return mine. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great so far
Two months with this bag an it's still getting me to school. I haven't had any reliability issues.
The good:
1) It'll hold everything. I carry so many books to school I used to carry a backpack and a laptop case. Now I just have this bag.
2) Big straps to hold the load.
3) Lots of compartments to help devide up and secure the stuff.
4) Padded back
The Bad:
1) Laptop sits between your back and your load. It's padded, but this doesn't stop the weight of the load from resting on your computer. It should be a hard case.
2) Big straps that are too wide to leave much room for flexibility in the arms.
3) Useless little mesh pockets.
4) Deviders aren't flexible.

Thanks for reading

2-0 out of 5 stars Too bulky
Though this backpack has ample room for what I needed to put in it, it's construction is stiff and it is huge, no matter how much stuff you have in it - it's like carrying a small child wherever you go. Also, the zippers are not the best quality - one is already totally broken and another on its way after only one year. The only plus is the separate laptop compartment - that is handy as I have a relatively large computer. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Mine Broke too! Revised 1/23/02
I have owned this case for 12 days and the belt clip broke off too. I reached to pull it off my belt and the belt clip broke off. I had to call targus and get a replacement case. It is a very nice looking case and it also fits my Palm IIIc very good. This case shouldn't have broken off this early and I think there must be a problem with these cases if two people had their belt clips break off in less than a month. My recommendation is "buyer beware", it is a very nice case but if you buy this product be careful with the belt clip, I hope your case doesn't break like mine and the other reviewers.

Well I shipped the broken case back to Targus and was sent a brand new one. This one has lasted me almost a year.I think the problem with them is that the belt clip is so tight that if it is stretched excessively for a thick belt, it loosens the clip causing it to break. I switched to a slightly thinner belt and have enjoyed it eversince.

4-0 out of 5 stars I finally found a high-quality nerd case!
I own a Compaq Aero 1520 PDA and have had a major hassle finding a decent case that didn't use velcro to hold the PDA as I prefer to have all controls available while using the unit and the speaker is on the back. This case was too short and thick but, being made of semi-soft leather with a velcro closure, the Aero fits just fine. The belt clip needed more of an opening to accept a belt so I used pliers to bend it slightly. It stays put on my belt, swivels to let me sit down and offers quick access to my Aero which I stow upside-down and glass-in. My biggest gripe is that the case is brown leather vice black which I prefer. Eventually I'll have it dyed black - when I can live without it for a day or two . This case provides fair to good protection, good to great convienience and fair to good overall value. I did NOT look for this case in Amazon - I stumbled onto it in an office superstore and, after physically deforming the case, found that it would work. Hope this review helps.

3-0 out of 5 stars Thanks, reviews were helpful.
I was thinking about switching to the Targus until I read all your reviews. I have the Franklin Covey e-Pocket Leather belt clip case and after 2 years of hard use, the spring is not very tight and I was looking for a replacement. From the reviews, my belt clip seems to hold up better than the Targus, so I'll get another Franklin Covey. Also, it comes in black and has an additional belt loop behind the metal clip for those who want it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice style, but WARNING falls easily off belt-BIG problem
This case is beautifully made. It's swivel handle seems like a neat idea.

BUT all of that is far overshadowed for me because I can not rely on it staying on my belt when I wear it. Worse, especially when wearing a sport coat, etc., it sometimes falls off my belt *unnoticeably*, so that my Palm 3xe (and my data!) can very easily be lost. This has happened three times -- all within my house, thankfully. I cannot afford the risk of losing data by wearing the case outside my home. (I will not keep replacing the Palm, especially when Palm keeps making its upgrades incompatible with prior versions. Of course, this last is a Palm problem, not a Targus one.)

I will buy a new case.

A PDA case needs to have a secure belt *loop*, not merely a clip -- especially a clip like this one which does not have a security 'lip' at the bottom of the clip to make detachment from the belt far less likely.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really Nice
I bought this to store my Palm Vx and carry it around on my belt (and in true cyber-geek style, it joined my pager and cell phone). My only problem was that the clip tends to be a slight pain to get onto the belt. Also, the flap folds over almost beyond the velcro patch (when I'm trying to have the flap down snuggly). But those are both just minor things and this was certainly worth the money I paid. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars instant laptop
This keyboard turns a PDA into a poor man's laptop. If most of what you need it for is document driven, it's fantastic. I can type almost as fast as on my desktop, and with Wordsmith (an inexpensive but pretty powerful word processing program), I can create full length documents to review. Niceties such as spell checking and grammar (etc) can be done after syncing with a PC. I've been using this as a substitute for a pad at some meetings.

A couple of caveats. I've seen some reviews that say that the Stowaway will work on your lap. I wouldn't advise it. The parts feel rather delicate--particularly the connection point. Use a table or, if you think you'll be doing lots of lap typing, go with GOTYPE. If space is a concern and you normally have meetings at tables, then this should be fine. (Moreover, there's a "gee whiz" factor to consider. The thing is just cool). Second, because of the small screen, one can write long documents, but it becomes tedious to read them. Bookmarking functions ameliorate this problem, but don't cure it.

Still, it's obvious that a lot of thought went into the design of this product, and it pays off. The keys have good tactile response, and the function and shortcut keys were well thought out. If you have the cash and the inclination, definitely worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars With a Toshiba 3755
I think the above 5 Star reviews are accurate. My caveates are:
1) no page down, but the cursor/fn shortcuts are adequate.
2) tiny right side shift key (req. pinky)
3) broken up space key requires using left or right finger tip
4) driver CD locks up computer, but the Targus.com site installed the drivers effortlessly.

Pros:
1) Infrared error free and hopefully low-battery consumption
2) Folds up nicely, with care required for most Chinese plastics (apparently Clinton did not 'share' our plastic technology)
3) Price . . . as affordable (through Amazon) as a standard KB
4) Ample preloaded shortcuts

Conclusion: This is an inexpensive accessory for your PDA/Toshiba PPC which turns your palm device into a subnotebook. Like any non-standard keyboard, it takes some adapting, but its accuracy will dispell the intitial adjustment.

Suggestions to Targus:
Only two - 1) hinge/slideout a Symantec Touchpad and replace the cursor with a 4-way toggle plus page up/down, end, home keypad. They can be reduced in size to fit, as they are not a usual touchtype item. And 2) Figure out a way to make the space keys raised and spring loaded for using our thumb.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome w/ ipaq 1910
Awesome! Setup is quick. Works great with my ipaq 1910 !!!

1-0 out of 5 stars IR beam arm is almost imposible to align on a Toshiba e755
The rotating wand arm must be aligned to the infrared port of the PDA. The arm rotates 210 degrees but the sender can only point directly to the pivot point. The adjustable arms are laughingly flimsy. As a result I can only get it to work if I hold the pda in my right hand directly above the ir arm. Then it works great but it's an utterly unworkable solution. Instead of a rotating arm which makes the angle wrong. Why not a sliding arm so that it is always at a right angle?

Truly awful unworkable piece of flimsy junk

3-0 out of 5 stars Compatible with HP products but has several trojan horses
Certainly as it claims, a universal keyboard or atleast compatible with HP IPAQ models 2200 and above. The keyboard does have a smooth response, i.e. no elf effect and yes cursor keys though absent are substituted with func+mouse. however, here is the biggest flaw in the device. since the device is folded in half to conserve space, the spacebar is split into two and is not that easy to handle. if you use your left thumb to hit the spacebar like me, there is a possiblity that you will often miss the key alltogether, but nevertheless, you can land on the key with a little practise. now if you use your right thumb, may the force be with you! the spacebar button is way outside the range of your right thumb and unless you dont mind shifting your entire hand an inch everytime you need to type, this is ok. the keyboard does take a little getting used to, especially if you have used a laptop most of your life where the base of your palm is resting at the level or above the level of your keys. i cant say much for regular keyboard users. here is something that you might try which will ease your learning curve and improve typing speed: place a thin support, some notepad or book about a quarter inch thick below the base of your palm and provide some support for your elbows while typing.

frankly, the keyboard deserves more than a 3 but the reason i bought it was to make quick electronic notes on my pocket pc in classrooms without having to carry my laptop, but really its not that much of a miracle solution i was hoping for. another word of caution, the word documents created and saved on your pocketpc are not compatible with your regular ms office word program. i suggest creating a blank document on your computer and move it to the pocketpc and then type in it or you will not be able to edit the document on your pc. ...

Buy this lock system, and it could save you .... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One helluva bag
I absolutely love this bag..I use it for my Wide Screen 15.4" Dell Inspiron 8600, which absolutely doesnt fit in any other backpack in the market. This one's a real stud. Though a bit heavy, its one solid unit, and protects the laptop well, with tons of room for your other stuff. I intend to use it mainly for Air travel, and bought it after a lot of research in Circuit city and other stores.

2-0 out of 5 stars FALSE ADVERTISING - 17" powerbook owners beware
If you have an Apple Powerbook 17", DO NOT BUY THIS BACKPACK.

Although the product is nicely made and attractive, especially for the price, the notebook compartment is padded on the sides and bottom, but not on top. There is only an elastic band on top that holds the laptop in place.

Although the manufacturer's description says that this backpack can hold a 17" powerbook, I suppose it would fit -- but the top of the notebook would be against the edge of the laptop and UNPADDED. If you care about avoiding dents in your powerbook, do not order this.

On the other hand, if you have a 15" laptop and don't need a really-well insulated notebook compartment, I would recommend this bag. 16" is just borderline. It has a comfy gel padding on the back and a sporty look.

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable, Roomy, Stylish
This is by far the best notebook backpack I found. My laptop is a 15.5" and its hard to to find a backpack that wasnt HUGE. This doesnt look huge but it has so much room inside it and plenty of space for books, disc, power cords, a mouse, etc. I also think its well made and has enough padding to protect your laptop. The zippers are great!!! Really smooth and it never feels like its sticking. Its also a lot easier on your back than one of the messenger style notebook cases! It also comes with a lifetime warrenty if you fill out the card and mail it back (at least mine did...it was inside the bag).

5-0 out of 5 stars Best backpack for a laptop EVER!!
I've never seen anything that kept my laptop so safe from damage and/or water. If you want something hip AND protects your notebook computer, buy this Targus backpack!

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing does it all.
I needed a good way to carry my laptop onto planes and around the E3 show in Los Angeles, CA. So I purchased this backpack. It is everything I had hoped for in a laptop backpack. This thing holds my 15 inch Sager 5690 perfectly and the protection is top notch. The bag has room for pretty much any and all business related items you would think to bring. It has great construction, roomy compartments, and the overall TARGUS quality you'd expect! I recommend this to anyone except people who have laptops with bigger screens. I hear some 17's fit in here, I just don't know which ones. ... Read more

It perfectly fit my palm but I expected it to have a section for your cash.

5-0 out of 5 stars So fast....
I received the iten not only in perfect conditions but also quite fast.

Thanks dudes!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as Advertised
This is not a wallet with a place to put money, as the picture shows shows. Also, the card slots are oriented vertically, instead of horizontally.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice wallet, Not for Palm V
Very good quality wallet But... Unfortunately when you close the wallet it pushes the buttons on the Palm V. Thus turning the Palm on, making noises and draining the battery. I returned this product and finally settled on a body glove case. Although the body glove is not as elegant, it serves as a reliable wallet and case for my Palm V(x) without any problems.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Protection For Your Investment...!
I closely examined all the available case options for my new Palm Vx and the Targus Leather Case for the Palm V model is by far the best option! Not only does it enhance the beauty of my new Palm Vx, but the Black Targus Leather Case protects my investment greatly! The case fits the contour of the Palm Vx and overlaps just enough to protect the Palm Vx from breaking if it is accidentally dropped, unlike 3Com's version. This case not only does it's job by protecting the Palm Pilot from damage, but the look and feel of the soft, yet sturdy black leather is absolutly beautiful! I use my Palm Vx and black Targus case as a wallet. I carry 3 cards, (drivers license, video rental card, and Visa card) the Palm Pilot itself, a few bucks, and perhaps a few business cards. I don't carry a lot of stuff in it as it's not made to do so. Yet the Palm Vx and case still remails a thin, compact package! I've gotten more compliments on my Palm Vx and the Black Targus Case than I can remember! The bottom line is that this case protects my Palm Vx and looks absolutly great! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality Brand, But Will It Fit?
I have purchased Targus products before and have been quite happy with them.I also see them in nearly every major retail store and I have never had any issues with their customer support. Now that they are offered on Amazon.com their pricing is also more aggressive, thus bringing me to a point wherein I would like to make a purchase.

However, in my quest to purchase the Targus PDAT01 PDA/Handheld Universal Organizer - Black I discovered that I had a difficult time determining whether or not my device would fit in the Targus PDAT01 PDA/Handheld Universal Organizer - Black.I finally found the interior dimensions (compatibility dimensions) for this product and thought I would share them with you.

Compatibility Dimensions: 5.25 inches x 3.5 inches x 0.88 inches

If your device is exactly the size above or smaller, it will fit.I have owned the Targus PDAT01 PDA/Handheld Universal Organizer - Black for just a few days and I am quite pleased with its workmanship; especially considering the price of the product.

P.S.The exterior dimensions are: 6 inches x 4.25 inches 0.88 inches

I hope this review was helpful in determining whether this product is compatible with your device. ...

However, I will probably buy another bag in the future or add foam to this pack to better protect my equipment. ... Read more
