This is a great iPod!!!
After buying my iPod at the Myrtle Beach, SC Target store, I am very, very impressed with this iPod. Downloading songs from both CD's and from itunes is a piece of cake. I have almost quit listening the radio in my car during my daily commutes. I've found it easier to use the itunes music cards than a regular credit card to download musicon Apple's website. I really like the FM adapter that I purchased at the store and the ipod player case is a perfect fit. I just wish that Target carried more accessories like the remote control and the cigarrette lighter adapter. I got to that my brother, Iman, that works at Target in Louisville, KY for talking me into buying the 20GB iPod instead of the mini!

Good mp3 player
If you are looking for a real good mp3 player, this is the one to get! It has everything i am looking for. First off it has a 20gb hard drive which can store 5,000 songs. my iTunes playlist has at least 600 hundred songs! second it has the new click-wheel which makes things much more easier to manuver around. the 3rd gen. iPod is real nice too but i don't like that the play, pause, stop buttons are at the top. finally the design is really high-tech looking. It has a nice white coating on the front and a metal finish at the back. it's thin as ever now also! i bought this for my wife for christmas but i also bought one for me too! these 20gb were sold out evrywhere!

Very useful item, but with a few setbacks...
I bought my 20GB iPod just under a year ago and I've used it a lot. It is so useful to just upload all your CDs to one central place. However, after the 1st week I bought it, I had a lot of problems. It tends to freeze-nothing too noticable but sometimes it will pause for 10 seconds, and it gets annoying. The casing tends to also pop out of place, which will cause the internal mechanisms to be out of line. For example my iPod wouldn't turn on because somehow the internal "hold" button had been triggered. Apple also only allows one support phone call, unless you pay $60 to buy another call and another year of warranty. Despite these few minor things, that don't always happen to everyone, I am very glad that I purchased this item.

Simply the best mp3 players to date . . .
I just recently turned fifteen and for my birthday my parents bought me a Sumsung Yepp 256mb mp3 player. it was good with its small design and ease of use, but when it started making noises, i immiediately returned it. I had been saving up money for a new digital camera ,but instead decided to use it on buying my first ever iPod. It's only been a month now and ive already got about 400 songs on it, and i can still fit 4600 more! i like the blazing fast data transfers and ease of use. the click wheel is by far the coolest thing on this 20gb mp3 player. i wasnt happy that the dock isnt included, but rest assured, its on my christmas list. i would highly recomend purchasing this if you are looking for an easy to use, all around good mp3 player.

Nice Camera
We just got these cameras in the store and they are amazing. Everyone enjoys the LCD screen on the back. Instead of the typical fixed LCD it has a swivel one much like your Camcorder. It pops out so you can have it hang to the side, or you can flip it over to take pictures of yourself and your family if you don't have a cameraman handy. Very Fast, Highly Compatible Memory Card
I purchased the SanDisk 512MB Secure Digital Card for use in my MP3 player (Rio Cali-256). I had never before seen a Secure Digital card and was surprised at how small the card is.

I opened the package, inserted the card into my MP3 player, and presto. Instant recognition. No need to format the card.
I started downloading my music files onto it, and noticed the speed was equivalent to the memory onboard my player. As a result, I now have an additional 120 mp3 files on my player!

I'd give the product five stars, but the memory size did not appear to my MP3 player as 512MB. It was slightly less than this - not too much less, but when I buy 512 MB, I certainly want all 512.

BAD quality! stay away!
I bought this (Sandisk 512 MB Secure Digital) in February and gave it to my mom as a gift in May. She used it in her digital camera and took pictures with it for her college reunion. Afterwards, the card displayed "Corrupt Data" and the pictures were lost! Do NOT buy this card, if you do not believe me, do a search for this card and you will see similar testimonials!
The grief and sadness this card has caused me is not worth its cheaper price!

Great Card. No Problems at all.
I use the Sandisk 512 SD card in my HP 2215 IPAQ. I have never had a problem with it and it gives me plenty of space to store all of the music that I enjoy. I would love to get a 1 GB card but I want to wait for the prices to come down a little more. This card is fast but I would still like it to be faster. I'm not sure if it is the card slowing down the process or the USB connection to my IPAQ. I was thinking about buying the Sandisk ULTRA SD card to see if there is a speed difference.

Horrible memory card for PDAs
Well after purchasing my second Sandisk product (the other was the 512K CF card) I will never buy another Sandisk product again, don't care if it is cheaper. I know you other PDA owners know what I am talking about. For digital cameras I don't know, it may or may not work fine. But I've used the Sandisk cards in my Dell Axim and Compaq Ipaq and have had the same problems. When transferring large amounts of data >15MBs the files do not write properly. Half of my mp3s that I tranfer do not play. In addition if you transfer data that is greater than the available amount on the card it will frequently erase all data on the card!!!!!!!

BEWARE, stay away if you are going to use this in your PDA. I've found no problems using Viking (1 CF card), MicroTech (1 CF) and Kingston ( 2 SD cards) products. ... Read more

Work with LAN, Apple Airport Card, and 802.11g card mixed
I just got the product today. I set up and had in running in less than 15 minutes (might be because I used Linksys 4-port router before and the setting is pretty much the same).
My network provider is Cox.net which requires you to enter "cox.net" in host name and possibly the domain name also. I also use the "MAC address cloning", since it is recommended with the older wired 4-port router.

Just like the older Linksys 802.11b wireless router, you need to enter WEP key in the format of "$" followed by your 26 Hex key generated by the admin utitity in order to make it work with Apple Airport Card (802.11b). I found out one glitch before updating the firmware that MSN messenger won't work on the Airport card but I can browse internet using browser just fine. This problem was gone after updating firmware to the newest version.

Another setting with Linksys Wireless-G card is no-brainer. It was quick and simple. I think it is one of the product that works great with Apple Wireless solution and saves you a lot of money instead of having to buy that "Airport Extreme" base.

Problems
I bought this router a few months ago and have had a host of problems with it. First, it frequently drops the radio connection. This is apparently a common problem - I've seen quite a few people discussing it on various message boards. Second, the VPN pass-through just stopped working. The customer support people were not particularly helpful (I agree with an earlier post that the people at the call center in India are very difficult to understand), but they did arrange to have a new unit sent out to me. Overall, I wonder if a different brand would have been a better bet for me.

Easy to install; flawless operation
I am using this router with a DSL connected modem. The router is connected to my computer using an ethernet connection (4 are provided) and is wirelessly connected to my wifes' machine located about 75 feet away. Her machine uses a Netgear PC adapter. I was concerned about the signal strength due to the distance, a concern which proved to be correct. Ours is a single level home. The signal was okay but marginally. I solved the problem by installing a magnetic mount 5 db gain omnidirectional vertical antenna on her machine. The 5 db antenna is magnetically anchored to her table by sitting on a "recycled" tuna can top and this raised the signal to full strength as shown by the Netgear signal meter. The 5 db gain antenna is usually available on the Ebay site and sells for about $15.

Overall quite good but VPN support is flaky
I just purchased this along with the PC and notebook cards. Installation of all three was very smooth (PC = WinXP, notebook = Win2k), and wireless performance seems to be good. I have the PC in a room immediately below the router and signal strength through the ceiling shows 'Very Good'. If you are just using for the Internet, I'd give it a 5. My main issue: VPN software support (???). According to Linksys technical support (quite terrible, btw), the router should only work as a pass-though device which requires that you forward port 500 (for IPSec traffic) or 1723 (for pptp). Note this is in the "Applications and Gaming" tab of the admin GUI. Linksys told me that in this configuration I would only be able to access sites on the intranet (aka no external web sites) while connected with VPN. However, I do seem to be able to do both when connected via TCP or UDP transparent tunneling. I just cannot get to anything on my local network (no ping, no sharing, etc.) until I disconnect VPN (which is Cisco VPN Client 3.5). Note: I also power cycled the router after everything was running and it did not reconnect to the internet even upon refreshing...I eventually had to temporarily connect to it using a wired connection to get it back online. (3.5 stars)

Viking 256 MB SD Flash Card used in HP 935 Photosmart Camera
Received the card in a reasonable amount of time. Put the card in the slot and it did not fit exactly like the HP 32MB digital card fit. In other words, the HP card has a "spring-like" feel to its insertion and extraction. The Viking card fit snugly in the camera and did not "spring". At first the camera did not recognize the card, then after taking it back out and re-inserting it, the camera did recognize the card. I was looking only for more memory space, so faster action on the camera is not of importance to me. This gives me 440 pictures at 1MB per picture with 2-stars compression. I am happy with the card at the price I paid (~$61.00 w/$15.00 rebate = $46.00).

Viking 256 MB SD Card (SD256M)
I bought this for my Minolta Dimage G500 digital camera. It worked the first time I inserted the card without any problem. I find the speed acceptable - It is as fast as the 16MB Toshiba card that Minolta sent with the camera (G500 is a fast camera). Before buying I checked the memory compatibility with G500 at:

Fantastic results in my Minolta Dimage G500! Speed, reliability, and the right price. Nary a problem from day one.

Okay fo MP3 player but too slow for a D-CAM
I have this card for over half year with my Minota F100.
It works proply but it writes in too slow. It taks about a couple of seconds ( about 5-10 sec) to write a 5 MB image file into the card so I have to wait date write in in order to take next shot.

Now I use this card for my Rio Cali MP3 player, it works peoperly
because it does not requie the cared to write in and read a big file in a fast rate.

DONT MAKE MY MISTAKE!

Great card!
Bought one of these cards and I love it. I have a Canon 300d/Digital Rebel.

I originally used a Canon 32MB card which performed horribly. It would take on average 10 seconds to write one JPG at the highest resolution.

With the 512MB Ultra II card it takes from 1-2 seconds to write the same image. It also allows you to shoot continuous shots longer.

With 6+ Megapixels--I think the 512MB card is the perfect size for a full day of shooting. I can get about 165-170 shots on a card. I am glad I did not get the 256MB card.

Lastly, it also allows quicker image previewing from the camera, flipping between images is so so much faster. I think the extra money for this card is well worth it.

This is the card you want if your getting a Digital Rebel! The 512 will get you about 142 pictures.It downloads fast ,and gives you great pictures,what more do you want.If you are spending at least 1000 dollars on a camera don't go cheap on the compact flash cards! Got mine from Amazon. 60X write, 66X read.
I pre-ordered this item from Amazon. Apparently, there was an initial delay with Amazon's supply, but I just got mine. With a price like this and free shipping (which, despite being "Super Saver," was speedy as usual), I have no complaints.

Works fine so far, and the capacity boost over my old 64MB card has me almost giddy: The "pictures remaining" counter on my 3MP camera jumped from about 40 to over 300.

Helpful info: The manufacturer's "X" speed rating equivalent, which isn't easy to find online, is 60X write and 66X read.

Amazon can't deliver
I ordered this before tax day in April and I am now told that I won't see it until August. Amazon has blown past expected delivery dates several time so far, so I have no reason think that they will meet the August date. Order this product only if you never want to receive it.

Works fine - but not from Amazon
I have two of these, one in a Canon Powershot S500 and the other in a Powershot S1 IS and both work fine. No problems at all.

The ordering issue was something else, eventually I gave up on Amazon's extended and extending delivery times and bought them on Ebay for $10 more. I buy a lot of gear from Amazon and I was disappointed this time, but that's one in a hundred where they have totally failed my expectations, not bad overall.

Point-and-shoot at its best
This is my first digital camera, and I have no regrets. It's a damn fine point-and-shoot with very intuitive controls and can be used virtually right out of the box (just charge the battery a bit). The video capture feature is just fine; afterall, if you wanted a video camera, you would have purchased one. I considered the Sony DSC-T1, but with Sony's proprietary memory requirements, the cost/benefit just didn't add up. The S500 is a sturdy camera, and should satisfy the casual photo enthusiast for quite some time. The included software is also user-friendly and easy to use.

My Canon Elan 7E and Canon Elph 2 kept me content for quite some time. With hundreds if not thousands of dollars spent on photo-processing however, it was simply time to get into the digital age.

For accessories, you'll want to get a case for it (such as the PSC-50) as it only comes with a wrist strap. In addition, consider purchasing a larger CF card (256MB or 512MB... I purchased the SanDisk Ultra II 256MB). Once you buy a card, you'll be able to use it in digital SLRs if you go that route; the included 32MB card will quickly run out of space if you are taking full resolution photos.

Choosing a digital camera is very much a function of lifestyle. If you are used to SLRs and like being able to bring multiple lenses for special photography opportunities, then consider the Digital Rebel or EOS 10D; you won't find better cameras on the market. If however, you want a compact camera that you can easily take anywhere, consider the S500 as a happy travel partner to capture those moments, and never process film again!

Best Still Picture Quality for Compact Digital Cameras
If you just need a digital camera to take pictures in the sun light, you can almost pick any digital camera.

But if you want your camera to take great pictures under all different light conditions (i.e. in door, with dark background, wedding photos and other complex light situations), then Canon S500 will be the only choice. Thanks to Canon DIGIC Image Processor and iSAPS Technology, this Canon S500 really takes perfect pictures in all different light conditions, which no compact digital camera from other vender can match.

However the Canon case for S500 is very dispointing, which is poorly made with cheap fake leather.

It might be your memory cards
Not all memory cards work well with all cameras. I tried to use a Viking card with my Canon s230, and got the E18 error mentioned here. As soon as I swapped my SanDisk back in, the problem was gone forever. I think sending the memory card back was a much better and cheaper solution than ditching an excellent camera.

Beware of moving this camera between indoors and outdoors
This camera is the next generation in Canon's Powershot family. Let me start by saying that I have not bought this model, but that this cautionary note is based on a significant flaw in the design of the S400 which I have. I don't believe this flaw has been corrected in this updated model.

I bought an S400 and used it for seven months. I was very happy with it. At that point, however, it stopped working without warning. When I sent it in to the factory service center, I discovered something very troubling about the camera that had I known earlier would have caused me to not purchase it.

It turns out that this model--as well as many other Canon digital cameras, the tech told me--has an aluminum body. If you subject the camera to temperature changes (and it only takes a change of 10-15 degrees, I was told) condensation will form inside the camera, and the camera will start to corrode, eventually rendering it unusable.

This is what had happened to me. What misuse had I subjected my camera to that caused this to happen? I took it on vacation to the beach with me. Carrying it from the hot and humid beach into an air conditioned car was enough to destroy the camera!

The tech told me that he sees this all the time. He didn't know the percent of all Canon cameras that suffer this fate, but he said a lot of them do. He told me he gets lots of cameras back from people who have taken them on vacation to Arizona, Mexico, and Hawaii. He even saw one that had stopped working because the owner kept it stored in a stuffy closet. When the owner eventually took it out to use it, the temperature change back to normal room temperature was enough to fry the camera.

I was told that this damage is not covered under warranty and that the manual cautions users not to subject their cameras to this sort of treatment. Canon will not provide service on cameras that suffer this fate. If this happens to your camera during the waranty period you're basically out of luck. You lose the investment you made in the camera and any peripherals that you bought.

I hope anyone interested in purchasing a Canon digital camera will learn from my very expensive mistake in purchasing one. See the review section for the S400 on Amazon.com for even more stories from people who have had this same problem.

What I said about the S400 holds true here as well. The camera is very nicely designed, but it's poorly engineered. If you plan to use the camera indoors only this is a great model. But if you plan to use the camera both outdoors and indoors, if there is a difference in humidity and temperature between the two where you live, and if you don't want to run the risk of totally losing your investment in the camera, this isn't the model or brand for you. ... Beware xD memory...
Thank heavens analogue cameras standardised on 35mm. Just imagine you went into a shop and had a choice of 2inch, 30mm, 25mm, 33mm, 35mm etc films, only one of which would fit your camera. Olympus have done a Sony and repackaged the same old memory chips (e.g. SD, MMC, SM, CF, MD) as xD and decided to sell it at twice the price of SD memory. Once you buy one of their (admittedly good) digital cameras the small xD market will force you to buy expensive memory that is incompatible with almost everything else our there. As I already own some cheap standard SD memory that's not usable in most Olympus cameras, I have had to look elsewhere for a camera :o(

Great Card!!
This is a great card if you want to shoot video or shoot high mb photos. Unfortunately for Amazon, its less than $80 at Costco.

Enough of confusing standards and formats
I wish the electronics manufacturers don't take consumers for granted. Every year, they come with new storage cards and drive formats. That is the reason many like me are not happy to buya a new electronic device. How can you improve the economy if you don't standardise these sort of things and give the confidence to the consumer that what he/she buys will stay productive and useful at least for two to three years? Remember it is the middle class common man who forms the largest consumer base. We just got over a few years ago from Betamax and VHS formats. Now we have competing DVD formats making most of us totally confused and preventing us from buying any of the multiformat DVD writers even! Smallest of the Canon cameras delivers in every way!
I've had this camera for just over a month now and I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am with it. But I'm gonna try.

From my understanding, Canon went with the SD format on this camera to cut down on its body size, and it shows. Stylish and sturdy without the bulkiness and weight of other cameras, you can literally throw it in your pocket or purse and go.

Usability on this little number is top-notch. The AiAf focusing helps to ensure that you get the best photos every time, and the red eye reduction is on par with some of the best consumer cameras I've seen. Best of all, it's easy to use for anybody to use (my kid brother loves it more than I do), but when you're ready for something more, the camera's Manual Mode gives you a bevvy of options to work with.

The battery seems to go as long as you do (though I recommend buying an extra battery to be on the safe side), and how Canon managed to pack 3.2 MP's worth of quality into the SD110 is beyond me.

Setup on my computer was a snap. Running Mac OS 10.3, all I did was plug my camera in and voila, the camera was recognized immediately! I haven't tried the included software but if you have Apple's iPhoto you really don't need it.

In addition to an extra battery (the batteries on this camera are rechargeable, by the way), you would be wise to purchase a bigger memory card as the included 16MB SD card simply doesn't do it justice. With a 256MB SD card (I've been using Delkin's eFilm card), I can fit 152 photos at the camera's highest quality and size settings.

In short, if what you're looking for is a no-nonsense camera for those precious moments that treads the balance of form and function, look no further than the SD110.

LISTEN TO THIS....... GET THE CAMERA!
The Canon Powershot SD110 is the most practical, compact, easy to use digital camera. Yes, it's expensive and I do recommend an extra 256 SD card, but the money is all worth it. I just bought the camera a few weeks ago, and the reviews for the SD100 are basically the reviews for this one. None of the bad things that they say about the camera are true exept I do recommend an extra battery. The battery takes 95 minutes to charge and the manual says it can take over 210 images with the screen. If, however, your battery is running low, it will give you a 10 second warning. Not much... The SD100 and the SD110 are just about the same camera but the SD110 has a much faster shutter speed and has a print button which I find no use of. The quality of the pictures of this camera are absoulutely beautiful. The camera has settings of normal (1 mp), fine (2 mp), and superfine (3 mp) (I think). I took pictures in fine mode and they were the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen! The superfine mode pictures were even better. The inside shots are sweet! People lie about the quality of the pictures indoors. Why sit here and read my review about the camera..... GO BUY IT, YOU WILL ABSOULUTELY REGRET IT IF YOU DON'T!

Excellent Still Picture Quality !
If you just need a digital camera to take pictures in the sun light, you can almost pick any digital camera.

But if you want your camera to take great pictures under all different light conditions (i.e. in door, with dark background, wedding photos and other complex light situations), then Canon SD110 will be the only choice. Thanks to Canon DIGIC Image Processor and iSAPS Technology, this Canon SD110 really takes perfect pictures in all different light conditions, which no compact digital camera from other vender can match.

However the Canon case for SD110 is very dispointing, which is really designed for the bigger S500/S410 and is too big for SD110/SD100.

Easy to Use, Great camera!!!
I don't understand the review of the person below that complains about this camera. This is one of the best and easy to use. I have the S400 and got this one for my sister. This one is smaller and lighter than mine, and the quality is as good. Yes, you will need to purchase a bigger capacity SD Memory card, but now a days those are cheap. The video function is easy to use and the quality is very good. I highly recommend this camera.

Very compact camera, great photos and features
My only complaint about the camera is the stingy SD card size of 16MB, but this is cheap and easy enough to fix.

Apart from that this camera seems to be an excellent buy. The battery charges very quickly, and seems to provide good life.

The photo quality is great, and the automatic mode seems to expose and fill-flash perfectly in every situation, similar to my Canon SLR.

The video feature works very well, and the microphone quality seems excellent even with a lot of background noise.

The flash seems to work great for indoor use (not tried outdoor yet) giving nice even coverage, and perfect exposures. The red-eye reduction seems to work great also.

The build quality seems to be great, and the bundled PC software and TV out cables mean that this camera can do pretty much everything I could want.

Love it!
A few years ago, I was the proud owner of an incredible Palm IIIxe. Now, I have just recently bought the new, super slick Tungsten E, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the transition. I use it in school to take notes during class and to write assignments, as well as a Game Boy to pass the time when I'm bored. There is a lot to love about this machine, including:

-32 Megs of memory, meaning you can store quite a few programs (Palm apps average at about 35k, or at least what I download!)

-SD slot for expansion cards and MP3 capability (I confess, I have yet to use this feature!)
-Beautiful color screen at a high resolution (as PDAs go) of 320x320. Photos look great!
-The new Graffiti 2 system is far more intuitive than Classic Graffiti (took me about five minutes to master. I can jot down notes reletively quickly.)
-Rechargeable battery. Keep in mind that you have to charge it. I use my Palm quite a bit during the day, so my batteries are usually pretty low after a while. And, if you don't charge it, it will loose it's charge gradually (in theory, it should take about two weeks for that to happen, though I've never tested it out.)
-This Palm can run anything currently written for the Palm without any speed bumps, and is compatible with all of yesteryear's software.
-The improvements to the built in apps are terrific, as is the included software bundle.

Still, I have a few small gripes, but they're really pretty trivial.

-No Universal Connector. Still, there are a lot of SDIO expansion cards and many more on the way, so that's not a big issue.
-It's included flip cover is flimsy and annoying. Trust me on that one. Spend the extra 20 dollars on any other cover for it.
-The included clear plastic screen protector really sucks. It does it's job, but you need brain surgeon hands to put it on correctly. As I have it, the screen looks a little dirty, even though it's in mint condition.

Overall, I'd reccommend this handheld to anyone who wants one and doesn't need all the bells and whistles of a more expensive model. The Tungsten T3 is a lot better, but it's also twice as expensive and has several features most people don't need like voice recording and Bluetooth.

1. Its a Palm, with the latest version of Palm OS.
2. Looks good and feels solid in hand.
3. Superb screen and extremely clear.
4. mp3 playback is very good.
5. Uses standard mini USB jack, not propreitary Palm connector.
6. Fast performance. Don't compare raw MHz between PDA's, this one's faster than 400MHz PPC's.
7. About 28MB is available memory, which is a lot for a Palm.
8. Good software bundle and stable OS.
9. Speaker is - suprisingly - good at playing mp3's (64kpbs sounds great).
10. Flip lid and a screen protector are in the box. (I don't buy a PDA without flip)
11. Stylus is superb, thick/heavy/shinning metal.

Con's,
1. Down button is hard to press, ironically that's the most used button on T|E. The 5 way navigator is poorly designed and cheap plastic.
2. Size is bigger than some other handhelds like Clie SJ20.
3. Case is slippery and tough to keep clean.
4. Thread on included flip cover scratches T|E at the top easily.
5. Battery life is just like Pocket PC's, needs charging frequently.
6. Included charger is not a world charger and is bulky.
7. No bluetooth or Wifi but atleast it has SDIO slot (poor Clie fans have to put up with propreitary memory stink slot).
8. Weak alarm sounds (think this can be fixed?) and no vibrate only mode.
9. Packaging in plastic box is tough to open and not eco friendly.
10. Battery is not user replaceable. (dead Palm after 2 years?)

Most of the minor issues with T|E will go away if you spend double and get a T|T3. Overall this is a great Palm at affordable price. Thanks Palm!

I think this product has great memory!!! It works Great, but the first day i got it it it didnt make a anouying beep( which I don't think it should) and then in a couple days, it started making this wierd sound. But other than that it works great!! I totally recemend this!!!

thin but amazingly usefull!
My Tungsten E is amazing for school and many other things! I have done many projects on its documents to go and I got A's on most of them because I listen to lots of my favorate music with realone while doing them. I dropped my school planner and used the amazing Tungsten E. Playing games on its bright high resolution screen is way fun and watching movie trailers is always entertaining! If it is playing games,listening to music and watching movie clips or doing big projects that are a big part of your grade you just need to have this amazing device!

Superior product at a reasonable price
I've been a Linksys user since my first 4-port DSL router. Unfortunately I made a bad decision when I upgraded to a 802.11g AP. I bought a Netgear 802.11g AP based on the recommendation from CNET. Then my nightmare began!! Whilst the wireless signal strength was quite decent, the connection was dodgy.

After months of suffering it finally came to an end today... from the moment I setup the WRT54GS router. :-) The web GUI is well organized and easy to follow. Connection speed as well as response time is far better than my old Netgear AP that has a very high latency in initiating connection. I used to have problems in maintaining my PPTP connection to my office. Now it's stable as rock!! Overall this is a very well built product with solid support (in terms of firmware updates/bug fixes).

Great g card but Customer Services drops the ball
Well, I purchased my card (WPC54GS) and the router to match (WRT54GS) last Sunday for my work computer and after a week I finally got it to work no thanks to customer service at Linksys. There only help was to tell me the card was broken and I had to reinstall my operating system after 4 hours on the phone with them trying the same thing over and over again. But I'm sure that if you have windows XP or 2000 you wont have any problems but, my company gave me a great laptop but with windows 98SE which for those of you who have moved on to XP as I did with my home PC remember what a piece it was. If any of you purchase this card with 98SE and get stuck you can e-mail me at GEO1277@comcast.net and I can help you get it up and running. But as far as the product goes it gets great reception and as long as one of the antennas is pointed in the direction you are using the laptop or pc you can go through 3 well built floors and at least 100ft that I know of from my experience. Oh one more down side to this card if you have Windows 98SE you can't use the SpeedBooster unless you are using XP or 2000 just some info that I think was left out on this website but will be on the box when you get the card or router. I would give the Router 5 stars the Card 4 Stars and the customer service negative 5 stars.

Not dual-voltage -- don't buy if you live overseas
Don't bother reading this if you live in the States or Canada, but if you are one of the many Americans stationed overseas who buy electronics online, you might benefit from my frustrating experience.

When the router arrived, I read the box very closely; even though every other piece of computer equipment I've purchased in the last few years has been dual-voltage, I wanted to make sure this one was, too. The box doesn't specify the input power requirements, but it does say "For all EU countries" and specifically refers to using it in France and Italy. So I logically assumed that I would indeed be able to use this product in Europe without needing a transformer.

But no. The power adapter is 120V only. I've been trying for over a month to get Linksys to send me a 220V-compatible adapter -- I know they make them; Linksys is worldwide. But every call and email I've sent (and there have been many, to the UK and Germany as well as to the States' outsourced customer service locations) has only resulted in being told to call someone else. Customers can request a replacement power adapter from the Linksys website; I did that, specifying the 220V version, and was sent another 120V one (incidentally, I had to have it sent to my parents, who forwarded it to me, as Linksys refuses to ship to APO addresses). I guess the good people at Linksys thought I didn't know what I wanted.

So -- I can't evaluate the product itself because I haven't used it yet. But the customer service has been extremely disappointing.

If the router doesn't work, you are out of luck
I bought a Linksys router in October 2003, and still have not gotten it to work wirelessly. The box did not include the installation CD, and I was told by Linksys that I could BUY one if I wanted. I have emailed, faxed, wrote, and of course called, with no help. I have asked for an RMA, and was told "I think that has something to do with returning the product". great player, but there's a newer version!
Just got this player last week. First thing I did was download the UMS firmware update so I could use it as a USB hard drive and not bother with the propietary transfer software. What I like:
1) small and light
2) sound is good, default setting of 20 is loud enough
3) uses cheap, easy to replace aa batteries
4) 256 MB holds 5-6 cd's at 128kbit/sec
5) can be used with linux or any OS after firmware update
6) fm reception is surprisingly good
7) battery life is pretty good (20 hour rating)

8) firmware can be updated, hope for Ogg Vorbis support
9) no restrictions on file transfer after UMS update

However, apparently iRiver just released a 700 series of players, which has the following advantages over this model (similar price point):
1) 40 hour battery life rather than 20 on 1 aa
2) built-in Ogg Vorbis support (higher quality sound, no patent issues)
3) USB 2 interface rather than 1 (MUCH faster)

If you want a player for the subway or the gym, don't need to carry your entire music collection with you at all times, this is a very good choice.

The best small-storage flash memory player on the market!
I researched MP3 players for weeks before buying one. I read professional reviews, and customer reviews like those on Target, and Circuit City websites. I found MP3 players break down into two basic types:large-storage, and small-storage. If you are one of those people who wants to store 10,000 songs on a player, your gonna spend around $500...i suggest the ipod. If you're like me, and you come home at least once a week, you probably don't need 700 cd's at your fingertips at once. A few cds, and a radio will do you well at the gym or during your commute. Then your looking for a quality MP3 player with the following:

1. Good sound quality
2. Good Radio Reception
3. Intuitive buttons
4. Ample Storage (128MB - 512MB)
5. Reasonably long Battery Life
6. Durrable

This is the ONLY MP3 player on the market that has all those at a reasonable price. It is exceptional in design, and has FM Radio, Recording of voice or radio, plays MP3s, WMA, and WAV files, and can double as a mass storage device.

Tips: If you are not technically savvy, call a friend who is to help you get set-up on your computer. If you download UMS firmware it will convert your player into a mass-storage-device...you 'll never have to use the iRiver software again. You can download it at www.iRiver.com. Go to Firmware updates.
Convert all your MP3s from 128kbps to WMA 64kbps. You will not notice a difference in the quality, and you can fit twice as many songs. I suggest JetAudio to do this. It's free, and easy to use. I have the 128MB player, and I fit 3 CDs + 25 Favorites (total of 60 songs), and I have 10MB free for radio recording.

Lastly, when reading reviews. Be scheptical of those who say "it works great, but the battery life sucks"...and like phrases. I don't know who grows these people, but we can't defy the laws of physics. The battery will run out, and a device can only use so-little-power. It's like buying a car and being dissapointed because you have to buy gas once a week. Go to Costco, buy a 100 batterys for 20 bucks, keep a spare in your pocket (like change) whenever you take out your mp3 player, and you'll never curse the player for needing energy to run. Go to ZDnet.com for professional MP3 reviews. This IS the best small-storage player on the market for the money.

Good while it lasted
Much and enough has been said about this unit. Was very happy with it for the 18 months I used it. Suddenly, without warning, (as with others) the on/off button ceased to function. Iriver responds with, "oh well, out of warranty and we do no repairs." Do their newer products still have this issue? Who knows, so I am moving on to iAUDIO CW300.

Awesome!
I got this tiny player a while ago and it is the best mp3 player i have ever owned. I previously had two RCAs which both broke within a week and they were far more expensive than this little wonder. I can't even put into words how perfect this player is. The sound quality is amazing! my ONLY complaint are the headphones. They are very uncomfortable and they don't have that great sound. But after having this player for a while i will not buy another player that doesn't have the iRiver name on it. Get one!

Too delicate
I bought this model in June 2003 for about $200. Loved it. 5 days after the warranty expired [June 2004] the entire bottom [where the battery is inserted] fell off pulling the red power wire out of the circuit. The little plastic tabs that hold the 2 screws for the cover sheered right off. Very flimsy. iRiver customer service had no suggestions for repair. nice if you have a pc, look close if you've got a Mac
It's misleading to say this is compatible with Mac--I had an inkling its Mac abilities were limited but what information I could get from here and the Logitech site and a couple of others I checked was vague enough that I got my hopes up. On a Mac, as far as I can tell from installing the thing and getting a chance to poke around a bit--& I'm not very skilled in this stuff but also not very stupid with it--you get no audio AND no ability to send live video directly over the phone (modem-to-modem)--with the included software, at least--there are workarounds available through the web (last night I got iVisit to work--the only one I've found so far that supports Mac users [!]), but you are not buying quite the same functionality if you buy this for a Mac. As far as I can tell, the zoom doesn't happen on Mac OS either. Strangely (to me anyway) though the camera seems to have no audio abilities with the Logitech-provided software, I happened to try it out with ArcSoft's VideoImpressions (bundled with another product I bought a couple of years ago) and suddenly, with no problem, was monitoring and capturing live sound. Must note also that on my machine the software freezes on launch at least half the time. It still has its uses, especially if you want to play with digital video, in a limited way, without shelling out for a digital camcorder, and seems to have a few more options for tweaking the output than other cams for which I've been able to ferret out the info.

Finally I got the 4000 pro and watch a 5000 will come out LOL Either way this cam rocks! I made a ton of videos right away and pics with ease. I love this cam! The picture is so clear and the mic is very good. I recommend!

AWESOME WEBCAM!
I had an IBM, Then an IBOT, Then a Tracker Robotic Cam Pod that I paid over 200 dollars for and it never worked right! The company gave me the run around for 2 years. I finally gave up! A Logitech 3000 was attached to the robotic piece of garbage. So I used that cam for the past 2 years. The picture started to get grainy and there was no way of making it clearer anymore. I ran this camera non stop 24 hours a day pretty much for 2 years. So I decided it was time for a new cam! I love Logitech webcams and I was more then happy at how easy this was to install over all the other cams I pulled my hair out over. Plus the software is AMAZING! I started making video's and sending them everywhere. I think all webcams have a short life. After experimenting with my own and seeing my friend's. This is a great bang for your buck. I totally recommend this cam!

Works Great on MY PC, ok on my MAC
To date this is the best of 3 web cams I've used. I bought this and the Isight at the same time, ended up returning the Isight because we elected to use the PC for our web cam machine.

Note: I only use this as a web-cam for communication, I don't use any of the other software that comes with it.

The camera setup is fairly well though out. I really like the fact they give you two stands, one for a CRT and one for an LCD.

Installation of the software on an old PIII dell under windows 2000 went pretty much by the book. My only complaint was that it took a rather long time to install the software. Once installed it detected the camera and all was well.

I do photography as a hobby and compared to still cameras or even conventional video cameras the image quality was lacking, but you have to remeber what this device is for. The auto white balance worked pretty good, way out performing my Isight. I haven't messed with the face tracking software, I figure thats just a problem waiting to happen.

It plugged and worked (video wise) with my Mac and PC. I had some issues with getting the audio to work with my mac and Ivisit but I didn't really pay attention since I wasn't planning on using it for the Mac anyway.

On the PC it works fine, does an ok image, recognized by Yahoo IM and Ivisit.

Because of the pull of the cable getting it pointed in just the right direction is sometimes problematic.

All in all I am happy with it. It does its job well.

The little camera that could, can and does!
This is one of Logitech's better bang-for-the-buck inventions.

Automatically, it zooms in or out on you, as if another person is filming you. Sound is good, not the best, but very, very clear and audible. Picture is superb.

Great Product!
I've had my Zire 31 for well over a month now. It's great!
SCREEN: The color screen is great. It is a bit difficult to view in bright sunlight but that's a minor set back.
PHOTOS: The ability to carry all my photos around on this one compact device is also a plus. You can not zoom in and out of the photos but you can edit photos via the Palm Desktop (crop, rotate, red-eye, etc.).
MP3: The MP3 feature is also great. The sound quality is amazingly decent for such an inexpensive, small device but it sounds REALLY great via headphones. It's a shame, however, that the expansion cards (required for MP3s) are so expensive...
GRAFFITI 2: It took me a little while to adjust to Graffiti 2 but I now find it even easier to use than the prior version.

Overall, for the $149 price tag, you absolutely can't beat this deal. I would definitely recommend this product!

A great first PDA
I got my Zire 31 a couple weeks ago. It's my first PDA, and I did quite a bit of research before buying. Don't pay attention to the guy who doesn't even own this nifty little gadget; his review is worthless!

The Zire was easy to start using right out the box. I've had no problems getting it to synch up with multiple computers. My main goal was to have a small PDA to keep track of basic info (tasks, lists, my calendar, etc). I wasn't looking for something expensive or too powerful for my needs. The Zire 31 is perfect.

The only two gripes I have are related to the battery. While the battery life is fabulous (I can use it for days without having to charge it), there's no indicator that shows when it's plugged in and charging or when the charging is complete. Also, there's a little battery meter that appears at the top of the home screen, but it's purely graphical; you can't tell how long the battery will keep working.

I highly recommend this as anyone's first PDA or for those of you who don't need something mega-powerful. The price makes it a very reasonable investment.

Great item for the price!
I received the Zire31 as a gift, and it's great! It's very easy to use and easy to sync with my desktop. Yesterday, I bought a 512mb expansion card, and the mp3 playback is very impressive for such a small unit (especially one not made specifically for such a function). I've had no problems with Graffiti 2, in fact, it's so similar to the way I already write that I didn't even have to practice it. For those of us who may have a hard time remembering certain special characters though, it comes with two reference stickers (which I put on the underside of the very handy screen cover). You can't connect to the internet or retrieve emails, but I have in internet-ready cell phone, so this is not a very big deal to me. I also like that it lets you store a picture along with a person's contact info. Extremely helpful for me, as I am terrible with names and faces. The ebooks it comes with are fun for a ride on the train when I forget to bring a book with me, and I'm excited to download some of the game packs that are available. The battery lasts for days. I went about a week without having to charge it, and the battery still hadn't worn all the down before I finally did. I can't say enough good things about this PDA. Great value.

Eh.....
Ok.... when i got this pda i thought it was soooo cool. But then after a few days it wasn't so great. The graphics aren't that good. And i had to return it because the screen froze and would not turn off. I called tech support they said it was a common problem.... spend the extra 50 bucks and get a better one. WASTE OF MONEY. =D

Great Gadget for the Price!
I recently purchased the Zire 31 handheld, and so far, it is pretty neat. I have a Tungsten E, but I wanted another Palm for work that I could leave at work. (I know the whole point of the Palm is mobility, but I am forgetful and I know I would leave it at work or home and then feel helpless without it) In comparison to the Tungsten E, the icons and such are not quite as sleek, I guess that would be resolution, but other than that, I find them to be comparable machines. The Zire 31 is expandable and handles all my programs just as well as the Tungsten. (a great place for freeware and shareware is palmgear.com) Little side note is that the back is white, like the Zire and Zire 21, not blue, like the front of the Palm itself. Flawless operation, good performance, easy installation
I bought the WPC54G and the WRT54G. Card installation on my Windows 2000 laptop (Thinkpad T-23) was seamless (follow the instructions and you can't go wrong ...) WRT54G router setup was amazingly simple, will save that for another review.

The card has performed flawlessly for me. Good connection to my router (about 60 feet away right now through several walls, 48mbps speed). I've been using for several days and had no connection drops. (The CD included did have the latest drivers, I didn't need to upgrade from the website.) I use it for secure VPN, and again, no issues or problems.

The card also does very well with "Suspend" and comes right back and restores my connection without any intervention. The card gets a little warm, but its most likely sucking up heat from my laptop's CPU. No real issues there.

As another reviewer mentioned -- the card has two LED's which are basically useless. I don't care (still has 5 stars), I wouldn't care if it didn't have lights. Just kinda odd for a card that seems to do so well to have useless lights. :)

All in all -- been very happy with my purchase of the card & router. I have had no (read ZERO) problems. Would highly recommend.

Great Piece of Equipment
This is a review I wrote for the router hub and the PC Card. I had already submitted it for the hub and am submitting it here also for the card. The entire review is relevant to both parts of this system. One thing I forgot to mention was that I had called Dell to see what they had available,and they were using a mix of Linksys parts as well. So i decided to go direct with Linksys equipment. Here is the review as submitted.
For an item that is not even available in Best Buy and the other major stores when I went to buy it, the fact that Amazon has these in and out of stock, and that I received it in only a couple of days is knowledge enough to make this a winning situation.
What about hookup and use? Another 5 star performance. Having never hooked up a wireless network before, I took the advice of the quick start guide that came with the unit, and used their included CD. They strongly recommended that you use the CD rather than manually configure, and they were right. Having seen the problems that some others were having with setup, only to be resolved (some of them) by exactly following the directions, I decided to do it that way right out of the box. I'm glad I did. This setup using the CD was about as easy as learning how to open a refrigerator door for the first time. Shutting off what they tell you to shut off, and turning on what and when they tell you to turn things on, resulted in a delightful install. Not even one glitch. The CD determined my internet connection, determined my system configuration, asked me a few questions, and bingo I was up and running.
I bought the PC Card for laptops as well, and that was just as easy to install. Within 10 minutes I was surfing the web from all over the house. No Wires !
Pertaining to the speed issue: I got 54Mps while I was in the same room. When I went into the living room, it went to very good instead of excellent, and gave me 37Mbps. Let's get a perspective here. A standard modem works at 56K tops. This router works at 54Mbps that's megabyte not kilobyte. Their are 1000 kilobytes in every megabyte. So 54 Megabytes per second is about a thousand times faster than a standard modem. I hooked the Linksys wireless router up to a broadband connection which is running at a maximum of 700 plus Kilobytes on the download end, and 100 to 150 upload speed. I know I am getting specific, but the point I am making is that it does not matter what the connection speed you are running at any given moment, based on how close the base unit is to the PC card. What is important is that your internet connection will never even approach the speed capabilities of this router, so don't hassle yourself with any concerns over varying connect speeds of the wireless network.
Broadband hooked up to this wireless setup flies. As soon as you click on a site, it appears on the screen.
Anyhow, just for reference, I am using a Dell Inspiron Notebook, hooked up to the broadband cable modem that was supplied by Comcast. The operating system is Windows XP. Installation was as near automatic as can be. They do supply instructions when using Windows ME, 98 etc, that includes one more step than XP.
All in all this is a 5 star piece of equipment. Follow the directions exactly. It is easy. Hope this helps.

Well this is a definite improvement in speed over the old 802.11 cards. It was a cinch to set up and seems to hold a better and stronger connection. Definitely a good deal!

Nearly Indestructible, too bad it has to be
The ONLY bad thing about this is that the card sticks out of the notebook about 3/4 of an inch, and after dropping my PC a couple times, the card's cover came off and it's bent - but it STILL works, and it may have cushioned the notebook from damage (which is much more expensive to replace). On the other hand, the fact that it sticks out means that it gets caught on things, the notebook doesn't quite fit in it's case anymore, etc...

So I'm about to replace it, just because I hate having the electronics dangling out of the side, not because it's not working.

It's generally always worked fine, was easy to set up, and if you use Linksys cards and routers, then it lets you use a pass phrase for WEP encryption instead of the usual HEX gibberish (much easier).

I vote yes.
I installed it on my Sony Vaio Laptop and got it working right away. It linked to my Orinoco (802.11b) basestation with a very good signal strength and I was surfing away in no time. The following day, I cranked up my older Sony Vaio 802.11a basestation and wifi card and it worked without a hitch. The only time I had a problem with a Linksys product, they exchanged it right away. Mostly, their products have been trouble free.
I have nothing but good things to say about them. Of course, I don't have a "g" basestation yet, but I'm fully confident it will work just fine. ... Read more
