Amazon.com Product Description

Kodak's top-of-the-line compact digital camera for 2004, the EasyShare DX7630 features a massive 6-megapixel resolution--good enough for print enlargements up to 30 x 40 inches. It also offers the professional quality Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 3x optical zoom lens, Kodak's new Color Science image processor, an extra-large 2.2-inch indoor/outdoor LCD, movie mode with audio, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, 32 MB internal memory, and compatibility with SD and MCC memory cards.

Optics and Resolution The DX7630 has a 6-megapixel resolution for 2856 x 2142 images and photo enlargements up to 30 x 40 inches. Other resolution modes include 2856 x 1904 (5.4 MP, 3:2 aspect ratio), 2304 x 1728 (4 MP), 2048 x 1536 (3 MP), and 1496 x 1122 (1.7MP). The Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 3x optical zoom lens is also supplemented by a 4x digital zoom, for a 12x total. Working with renowned German professional optics designer Schneider-Kreuznach, Kodak equipped the camera with an f/2.8 - 8.0 aspheric lens to provide striking edge-to-edge brightness and sharpness across the frame.

Movie Mode
The DX7630 can capture full-motion video (20 frames per second at 320 x 240 pixels) with capacity dependent on available memory (32 MB internal memory included; additional memory may be added via the SD/MMC expansion slot). The DX7630's 32 MB memory will capture approximately 3.5 minutes of video.

More Features
The DX7630 camera's precision low-light auto-focus system combines rapid phase detection with highly accurate through the lens (TTL) contrast detection to sharply define a subject, even in almost complete darkness. Continuous auto-focus also delivers rapid click-to-capture (0.3 seconds). Selectable focus zones and exposure metering allow exacting control over each scene, while standard and fine JPEG compression settings give users more power over their file sizes and quality.

The DX7630 camera offers automatic as well as fully manual controls, permitting independent aperture settings, shutter speed (1/1400 to 64 seconds), exposure compensation and automatic bracketing, and ISO equivalents. The camera also features aperture priority, shutter priority, program and custom modes, as well as 16 scene modes including sport, portrait, night, landscape, macro and automatic.

Other features include:

  • 2.2-inch high-resolution indoor/outdoor display that offers a fast magnification feature with zoom control, fast scroll through pictures, or view multi-up
  • Real image optical viewfinder
  • High performance flash detects backlit situations and triggers auto fill flash
  • Continuous shooting and bracketing modes

Storage and Transfer
Images can be stored within the DX7630's 32 MB internal memory, or on optional Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards. It connects to Macs and Windows-based PCs via USB 1.1 connectivity.

Sharing
With a touch of the red-jeweled Share button, you can store up to 200 pictures in an on-camera digital album. These pictures can then be shared anytime on the camera's large, 2.2-inch, high-resolution (153,000 pixels) indoor/outdoor LCD screen. The Share button also allows selection of photos for printing and even e-mailing, with up to 32 e-mail addresses stored in the camera's memory.

Kodak Color Science Image Processing Chip
Kodak's Color Science Image Processing Chip offers a new high-speed digital image processor, advanced algorithms, and hardware acceleration features that enable the DX7630 make simultaneous, split-second decisions to produce rich, vibrant, true-to-life colors in almost any lighting situation. Each time you click the shutter, the Kodak Color Science Chip performs an instantaneous and advanced analysis of collected scene data to identify and correct multiple factors that influence picture quality. Scene light source is detected and adjustments are made to capture bright whites and true, vivid colors under difficult lighting conditions--fluorescent, tungsten or daylight. Scene content is analyzed for luminance, focal distance, subject matter orientation and color to determine the correct exposure and capture the natural details, accurate flesh tones, and rich colors you see in your composition.

Power and Size
The DX7630 is powered by a proprietary rechargeable lithium-ion battery (1050 mAh), which can be charged via the included battery charger or an optional EasyShare Camera Dock. The KLIC-5001 battery can shoot approximately 350 images on one charge. The camera measures 4.0 x 2.7 x 1.6 inches and weighs 7.9 ounces without the battery.

What's in the Box
This package contains the Kodak EasyShare DX7630 digital camera, rechargeable lithium-ion battery (KLIC-5001), battery charger, USB and A/V cables, wrist strap, lens cap, and custom camera insert for optional EasyShare Camera and Printer Docks.

Like all EasyShare cameras, the DX7630 includes Kodak EasyShare software for Windows and Macintosh systems, providing effortless digital picture transfer, organization, basic editing, sharing and printing. The software's exclusive One Touch to Better Pictures feature--which takes advantage of proprietary color technologies developed by Kodak--helps Windows OS users get vibrant, true-to-life prints from home inkjet printers, while significantly reducing the trial, error and waste usually associated with home photo printing. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars part broke in 1 week
Great camera, but part broke that holds battery in within 1 week of use. Have read other reviews on other sites w/similar problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera and pictures
Bought this for my wife's scrapbooking hobby and she couldn't be happier. The high detail allows her to crop a portion of the digital image and retain a high quality output. The pictures directly from the camera to the 6000 series printer dock were every bit as good as store processed. <br /><br />In this case "Easy Share" meant something!!!<br /><br />- Vaughn<br /><br />

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Gift for everyone
This is one of the best buys. and you can capture any moments of your family.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad Red Eye Reduction Ability
I was excited about the high 6.1 MP on this small digital camera. My problem is the Red Eye Reduction. It just doesn't work 8 out of 10 times. I talked w/Kodak about this issue, and they basically said its just the way it is. I wouldn't spend my $$ on this camera...there are many others out there that don't have this much lack of Red Eye Reduction.

4-0 out of 5 stars In the right context...a wonderful camera
I've found the DX7630 to be an easy to use camera very well suited to casual, handheld picture taking. There's not much of a learning curve, the body feels solid in the hands and the image quality is a good match for on-screen use and consumer level printouts. Shutter lag seems minimal, the AF is fast, battery life is long and the large LCD display is easy on the eyes.

On the downside, this camera would not be the best choice for more deliberate, tripod bound photography. Aside from the rudimentary self-timer, the DX7630 lacks any remote shutter release option and does not support any uncompressed file formats. Also, the JPEG compression is somewhat excessive and the camera provides no user controlled noise reduction.

These limitations shouldn't trouble most Kodak shoppers as this camera really shines in other areas. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Super G Router
I bought Netgear WGT624 Super G from Amazon for $85-$25 rebate and the corresponding WG511T from Best Buy for $89-$40 rebate.
Actually, I like Linksys because it is reliable. So, I bought Linksys WRT54G first from Fry's, but they sent me an old version of WRT54G which was reviewed having a lot of problems. I returned Linksys and bought Netgear because it says it can go up to 108 Mbit and it is cheaper than Linksys. Hopefully, they really send me the rebate.
Installation to replace my old wired Linksys router was relatively easy (with Comcast and RCA modem). However, for some reasons, I can not make my laptop to work at 108 Mbps. The fastest it can go is 54 Mbps. This is after firmware refresh (both the router and the card) and using channel 6.
I can not say that the signal is great, since from about 10 feets distance in the same house, the speed drops to 24-36Mbps.
I have not try with 11 mbps b card, so I can't say anything about this.
Few things to remember when installing the router:
1. Do not rush opening the box. You need to check if the router you have is firmware upgradable. Netgear was reviewed to have some rotten apple in their batch that do not allow firmware upgrade. Go to their web site: http://kbserver.netgear.com/support_details.asp?dnldID=592
and enter the serial number of the product to see if the one you have is firmware upgradable. If not, you should return it.
2. You want WGT624G version 2 or later. This later version uses a better chip set. However, I think there is no way of finding the version without opening the box. I order from Amazon because according to reviews Amazon ships version 2; although mine has a low serial number.
3. They have a URL that describes the setup for various ISP: http://www.netgear-support.com/ts/doc/ispguide.htm.
It would be a good idea to check it before installing.

I rate this as a good product althought I am not quite satisfied since I can not make it to work up to 108Mbps as advertised.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super-quick installation, great performance, great upgrade!!
I bought this router as an upgrade to a Linksys 802.11b router, which wasn't working well with a newly-purchased Dell laptop [Inspiron 8600 w/ a Dell TrueMobile 1300 WiFi card]...

I will tell you all that from the moment I opened the box, it barely took 8 minutes to remove the Linksys, hook up the NetGear, fire up the PC & cable modem, and run through the setup instructions. The Netgear router auto-configured the cable modem settings during the setup; it was a breeze!!!

Dell laptop owners, take note. This router works great with the TrueMobile 1300 b/g WiFi card!!! The Linksys [short range performance drop-off!!] didn't have a prayer!!! I got great performance throuout my apartment (just haven't been brave enough to try it outside or in the shower...).

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Hardware
I own the MR814v2 802.11b router. That is a very stable product, so I figured since I had a WG311 wireless card in my desktop I'd buy another Netgear router for 802.11g. Many of the reviews here were favorable, so I bought on the basis of that.

This product is simply not stable, at least for me. It has to be rebooted constantly. For sure it cannot hold a wireless connection more than 24 hours. I upgraded to the latest firmware, which at the time of writing is 4.1.11. No help whatsoever. I checked on-line, and sure enough many many people have reported similar problems with it (broadbandreports.com). I tried disabling the 108Mb features, but that also didn't help.

So in the end, I'm just returning it after a frustrating weekend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Router
Set up easy. Read all reviews, and bought with some reservations as several negative reviews indicated problems. However, I believe Netgear has them fixed with the version shipping now. Excellent out of box set up, configured both WEP and WAP, settled on using WEP. Use a Netgear 511 wireless card and get 54MBPS thoughout house, about 24-48 outside. Distance of 50+ feet. I have an old house, lathe and plaster walls, hardwood construction and still great reception. Also, have the router in the basement, between an old brick chimney and the furnace. Still, great reception. Recommend!

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad bad bad - stay away from this one!!!!
I bought this in the hope of setting up a fast network, but this is one worthless piece from Netgear. The router is totally incapable of holding a connection up to both wired and wireless connections on the network. I have v2 HW, and have tried 3 different firmwares. I am convinced that the only people who are happy with this one are the ones that turn their computer off after reuse. If you plan on leaving computers on forget this one.

Netgear's service is even worse. They finally agreed that this is a problem with the router, and that its not a first or uncommon thing for the router. The WGT634U is equally bad. The problems seem to stem from 108Mbps not being a stable standard yet. I would get a 54G router for now, and revisit 108 in a year or so when such issues may just be behind. For now I am returning this and if Netgear does not agree to give me another product in return or my money back, i am never coming back to their products again either. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Small But Powerful
The iPod mini is built from the ground up as a portable device for people with fast-paced lives. It's small and lightweight physical dimensions are perfectly suited to be being placed in a pants or shirt pocket without being a burden.

But don't let its light weight fool you into thinking the iPod mini is a pushover. The 4GB hard drive (3.7 GB actual) can hold about 1,000 songs - enough to last almost three full days. The installed software includes four games; a calendar; a notepad; a contact database; a clock; backlight with timer; an alarm clock; and the abilities to customize the main menu; create playlists; and rate songs. All this is in addition to being able to be used as an external hard drive!

However, the most revolutionary aspect of the iPod mini (aside from it's size and weight) is its control interface. Incorporating the 'Menu', 'Pause/Play', 'Forward' and 'Back' buttons directly to the touch sensitive scroll wheel not only creates simplicity from a design standpoint, but form a user one as well. Accessing these controls is a breeze. Thankfully the touch wheel is designed well enough that accidental pressing of a control is unlikely to occur since you have to press down a bit to activate the button. I'd actually like to see the entire iPod line adopt this interface.

Some people complain that the iPod mini is only slightly cheaper than the 20 GB iPod and offers a lot less storage space. But what you loose in storage space you gain in portability. It is also important to consider that compared to other players of its size and weight, the iPod mini offers much more storage space, many more features, and a better music jukebox in iTunes 4.0.

I want to carry the most music I can in the smallest possible device that offers the best interface and features. For me, that device is unquestionably the iPod mini. If you have similar demands of a portable music device, the iPod mini is sure to become a permanent accessory to your lifestyle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Small in Size not in Functionality

4-0 out of 5 stars SO CuTE
The funny thing is some people waited for over 3 months to get their mini ipod's, 5 days before christmas my mom went to target to get started on her christmas shopping, and she got the last blue one! The mini ipod is the cuttest thing i have ever gotten in my life, and one of the best gifts! my sister who has a dell music player and for the same price got 9,000 songs laughed at me! grated dell has a better deal, but who really needs 9,000 songs? the mini ipod is light weight so when i go running or i am working out i can't even feel it. although the battery life isn't what it says to be the ipod is still wonderful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
I got my pink ipod mini about a week ago as sort of a pre-Christmas present. Anyway I love it. With the itunes cards which target also sells it is really easy to download music. I would like to suggest that anyone who does get a ipod mini should get an ipod dock, not a mini ipod dock. The mini ipod's are not plastic on the outside like the regular ipods. The ipod mini's have a brushed metal outer case and if you use the ipod mini with the ipod mini dock, your beautiful new ipod will get all scratched up on the front. I hope this helps anyone thinking of buying one of the ipods or mini ipods.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mini Ipod..definately worth it.
When I first saw the mini Ipods i feel in love with the different colors. I decided to ask for one for my birthday, I got it. I have fallen in love with it. At first I wanted a regular Ipod, but the regular ones hold a TON of music, and since I get bored with songs easily, having a smaller one would make more sense considering my CD collection is quite small since I usually just listen to music on the computer. And when you think about, 1,000 songs.. that is A LOT of songs. You can also just delete the songs you don't want anymore and put new ones on it.

I must say me being a 14-year old girl and being absolutely obsessed with the color pink also persuaded me in asking for a pink mini Ipod. White is just boring.. to me that is. This review probably isn't very helpful, but mini Ipod all the way. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent cordless mouse for a modest price...
I'm a gamer, so naturally a mouse is a very important consideration when you're in the market for a new one. I decided to go cheap this time (previously owning a Microsoft Optical corded mouse) and cordless. After using this mouse for a few months it's surpassed my expectations. Just this weekend I had a LAN party and the mouse performed superbly in games like Q3 and Unreal Tournament 2003. Response is dead-on and the mouse never once had a glitch (something I had a problem with years ago when the first cordless Logitech mice came out). It's performed admirably in every situation. I'm on my first set of batteries besides the ones included with the unit, so I can't attest to how long they last (yet). I'll update my review once I have that answer. I can't say enough good things about this mouse. It's extremely low cost and the best quality of any cordless mouse you can buy. Highly recommended. Logitech has always been on the cutting edge of mouse technology. It's no wonder they're such a successful company with products like this. My previous mice have died painful deaths. Being a gamer my mice end up suffering from double-click-itis, where the clicker wears out and double clicks when you don't want it to. I'm hoping this mouse will last longer than my Microsoft Explorer did. We'll see.

Update: Battery life appears to be about a month or so for me. The mouse icon appears on your taskbar letting you know the mouse is trying to tell you something. I use my computer long hours every day, so I suppose a month of battery life on two AA's isn't that bad considering the amount I use it. If you are a casual computer user you may find the batteries last a lot longer.

5-0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to use
You would not believe how much more comfortable a cordless mouse feels. I use a computer all day long, and I can't live without this thing.

The pros for the Logitech Cordless:
1. Comfortable to use.
2. Steady pointing. No jitters.
3. Durable: I have two, one at home and one at work. No problems with either for over a year.
4. Nice color scheme (not hugely important, but it's nice to have silver and blue instead of putty beige.)

The Cons:
1. You have to use batteries on this one.
2. The red optical light is on all the time--if your computer is in your hotel room, you might find the blinking in the dark annoying. Seems stupid, but if you travel, this can be disconcerting. Then you have to take out the batteries to keep it from blinking all night.
3. It won't work on shiny surfaces--you need a mousepad, but what kind? Optical mice are kind of funny. Too dark, no good, too shiny, won't work. Supposedly you don't need a pad, but I find I prefer one.

On the whole, I give this mouse a big thumbs-up for comfort and durability.

3-0 out of 5 stars A decent mouse but can improve
I have been using a touchpad for the past 2 years. I bought this mouse for my wife and tried it for the first few days. On Windows XP, the install is clean. But I was surprised to see that this mouse does not ship with a mousepad. An Optical mouse by virtue of it's technology should be used on a specific surface otherwise it results in a jerky movement. Also there was no instructions whatsoever to suggest the kind of surface to be used on.

It is very sensitive and people used to traditional mice or touchpads will take time to adjust.

5-0 out of 5 stars best mouse I've had yet
I was a little wary of a mouse that was so cheap, but I picked up mine over a year ago on sale at an office store after a little mouse-meets-wall explosion when my old mouse (a regular corded mouse with a ball) stopped working.

I would have gotten something more expensive, having learned that cheap electronics are their own punishment, but I had a project due and NO extra money, so I settled on this little guy. I am glad that I did - it has been the best mouse I've ever had. The one POSSIBLE problem is that you have to replace the batteries, but hey, until they can power mice with tiny little internal nuclear reactors, I'll deal with changing my batteries (which happens MAYBE every 3-4 months for me).

If you have some sort of deranged problem with changing batteries, or if you are willing to pay around a hundred bucks for a mouse, don't get this one. Otherwise, if you're just looking for something that will outperform your outdated old mouse for very few dollars, this is so worth it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great cordless optical mouse
Okay gang I've been using this mouse at work for nearly a year. I'm a software engineer and use it every day for 8 hours. It operates flawlessly. I don't go through batteries at all like some have mentioned. My solution is a couple sets of rechargeable batteries. They work like a charm! The first time your battery goes dead it's a little frustrating. The mouse stops moving and you think your machine is locked up. So if your mouse disappears or quits moving just slap in a fresh pair of batteries and you're on your way again. I just ordered a second one for my home PC that's how good they are. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good hardware, but unreliable software
What I ran it on: My computer was a 600MHz AMD, 768MB RAM, 128MB ATI Radeon, running Win98SE, with an AT&T Broadband Internet connection.

The Install: The installation appeared to go without a hitch. If you don't follow the very specific instructions that the software provides then you will probably run into problems.

The Picture: The picture on the Quickcam Messenger was surprisingly good. The friend I was having a Video chat with through Yahoo Messenger had a webcam from a different vendor that cost about half as much and her picture quality was consistently poor.

The Framerate: While recording a video to my hard drive the framerate was more than adequate. Over the internet was another story, but I question whether any other webcam could have done better.

Reliability: This is where everything goes bad. In the 60 minutes I spent video-chatting with my friend I had to reboot my computer more than 6 times. Even when I wasn't broadcasting images over the Internet, and simply stared at myself on my desktop, the camera (or software) consistently locked up. The software provided is loaded with bugs and merrily installs itself everywhere on your computer (quick-start toolbar, desktop, program menu). I finally gave up on the camera after 2 days of trying to get it to work reliably (updating drivers and such) and returned it. My guess is the camera works great, but the software was thrown together as an after thought. After un-installing the software my computer has never been the same. I can no longer play Windows Media files and I can no longer run graphic intensive applications. I ended up having to re-format my hard-drive, I used this as an opportunity to install Windows XP... 98 is outdated now anyways.

Annoyances: If you bought a monitor, and the monitor manufacturer said "You need to subscribe to a 3rd party service in order to view the Internet through your new monitor." I bet you'd be pretty annoyed. Well that is essentially what Logitech did when they teamed up with SpotLife. You can use the webcam to broadcast video over messenger services such as MSN Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo, etc... But, if you want to broadcast live video from your computer to a web host (as a browser accessible nanny-cam or something) then you'll need to do so through SpotLife. SpotLife gives you a free trial period of course, but the freedom of doing what you want with the streaming images generated on YOUR computer has been taken away from you.

Summary: I waited a week after returning my Quickcam Messenger before I wrote this review. I knew that I should let my emotions cool down a little so I could try to write something informative and objective. The webcam may have performed reliably on a system with a different OS and some people might like the idea of SpotLife (it's actually a good idea for people that can't write HTML). If you can buy it from someplace with a flexible return policy then give it a whirl... just have your OS CD handy... for the install... and for when you need to re-format your hard-drive after the un-install.

The Bottom Line: I will be buying another webcam, but I'm going to avoid products by Logitech. That's too bad because I used to really like Logitech.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice paperweight!
Piece of junk, picture is grainy and pixelated, 640x480 yeah maybe through interpolation, it can't be optical. You'd better be within 3 feet of this thing with excellent lighting to get a ok picture. Get about 6 feet away with a window behind you, and you won't even recognize yourself. Bought it 'cause it was a logitech, and had 640x480 res, I have a no name brand 352x288 that looks twice as good. If you want to use it for chatting, crank your monitor up to sunburn and sit real close, twist the focus around a little and it'll work for you. But if you want to do more than just chatting, buy something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Logitech Customer Support says buy another brand!
Got this camera yesterday from Amazon, installed drivers from logitech website to avoid the spyware on the CD. Camera worked, but my McAfee Antivirus crashed. Called Logitech support, after holding for 15 min. (Toll number), was told by the person - "well if it crashes then you have to choose between the antivirus and the camera!" when I asked if that is the only solution he could offer, he says, "You can return the camera and buy some other brand, thank you for calling logitech" When I asked to speak to a supervisor, he puts me on hold, then comes back and says supervisor is also saying the same thing.

Sent an email to support hoping I will get better support, got a reply with a link. On clicking on the link, I get "Internal Error. Please try again later." I think there is an internal error in the company itself that they should fix first!!!

As for the camera quality, it is as bad as the quickcam express that I put in trash. Image does not focus and is grainy.

I would like to speak to the guys who gave 5* to this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not comfortable with it
I have been used this product before, the quality is okay, not very impressive though.
Now i am using other cameras like IP Camera. I am lucy to find out that some of the IP Camera like IP Camera 8000 can act as webcam, and can be placed anywhere in my house and be viewed anywhere in the world. That's too convenience for me because i did not have to hook camera to my computer anymore.
Also imagine you can view how are your babies doing in their bedroom or in the dinning room from outside like your office. And the price of IP Camera is under $100. Just forget webcam, ...

1-0 out of 5 stars OK IM camera - Not so good for anything else
Your satisfaction with this repackaged QuickCam Express (now with microphone!) will depend completely on what you want to do with it. If you are looking for a webcam to use with an IM client it should be fine - the image isn't great, but the compression used on video IM is aggressive enough you'll never notice the difference.

If, on the other hand, you want to use it as a web cam, keep looking. The image quality is terrible - beyond terrible - with tons of jpeg artifacts and poor color balance. It's also not clear to me that the marketing guy who wrote 640x480 resolution on the box ever spoke to the person in engineering who actually built a camera capable of only 352x288 images. That disconnect is indicative of the overall attention to detail on this webcam - good enough for IM, but absolutely nothing else. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Possible gotcha for Mac users
Amazon sent me the 614+ by mistake originally, but it worked fine with my G3/900 iBook. Then they sent me the 514, but it wouldn't let me get on the web when connected wirelessly. I connect via ethernet and no problem, so DHCP is OK. Finally, remembering something I read about using Linux with this router, I went to the Advanced section on the config utility, then selected "Performance", then set the "Preamble Type" to "Long" instead of the default "Short". Wallah! It worked! Don't know if it was because my neighborhood was crowded with other wireless routers, or if because I set the SSID to not transmit (though this didn't cause a problem with the 614+) but anyway that's something to consider if you're having a problem with this router and an iBook. Otherwise, it seems fine so far.

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't try using this for serious online gaming
I bought this router because the Linksys version B would not work with my version of AOL (9.0 optimized). This one worked just fine. One problem though, when playing games that transfer a lot of data, such as Planetside or City of Heroes, I lose connection every now and then. Other online MMORPG's work fine 99% of the time (have only been dropped from them about 3 times). So, if you are thinking of purchasing this, or any wireless router, for heavy gaming make sure you get a G model and not a B.

3-0 out of 5 stars First time was chore, but now works great
(4 stars if you read the instructions) I had some issues installing the router to the modem and getting my wiress connection in the other room to read the wireless signal, but that wasn't the fault of the router, the software or the installation process. It was my fault for jumping ahead of the game. If you are running a cable modem, make sure you have reset your DHCP by un plugging your modem first and repopulate the DHCP IP upon the modem reboot.
From there the process works great for what I am using it for. My main "surfing" computer is hard-wired in to the router and I am at about 2500 kps. The wireless access point is sold and the computer in the other room with much less internet use is connected all the time able to surf, retrieve mail and download files quickly.
I am running a secured WEP connection and followed all the installation suggestions in the manual the website to keep my Access Point secure.
The price is great when you include the rebate .

Just remember the promises of works out the box only apply if your read all the installation instructions.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Buy
I got this router (...) last winter to provide wireless/wired access in my dorm room for my many visitors and studymates. It was fairly simple to set up a MAC address filter and mount the hub to the side of my desk with double-sided tape. Occasionally, I have to leave it unplugged for a few minutes if it stops projecting wirelessly, but otherwise, it provides wireless and/or wired access 24/7. This is a good machine for someone who is interested in simple setup, fair range, and sufficient speed.

3-0 out of 5 stars Enabling Encryption makes the wireless connection useless
This works fine with wired and no encryption modes. If you want your data to be safer then this router may not be the best bet.

Once I enable the WEP encryption, my wireless connection keeps disconnecting for every few minutes ( some times 2 minutes, some times 10). I've upgraded the f/w to 1.02 ( which supposedly fixes connectivity with my laptops Centrino Mobile)
but still the same issue. Made few calls to the support and they tried changing some parameters and obviously for no use :).

D-link support web page says, enabling WEP causes wireless connection speeds reduce by 10-25%. May be its the same problem with all the wireless routers. Hope d-link fixes atleast the connectivity issues. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars works great with AT&T Broadband
After frustrating results trying to set up the cable modem and 20 hours on line with @Home... no, not @Home. Today, ATTBI... (will it be ATTBI-Comcast???)

The new ATTBI help desk officially does not support this modem. However, the reason for my troubles was because the flunkies that were helping me failed to properly register my MAC address.

Be persistent with updating your MAC address with your cable ISP and the Linksys BEFCMU10 will work like a charm.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sleek cable modem that works great
I bought the Linksys cable modem along with Linksys' DSL/Cable router/AP/w 4 port swtiches and a wireless PCI card to build a
home network for my PCs to share high speed internet access last December. After the cable guy from Cable America wired cable to my house, plugged in the cable modem, read the MAC over the phone to their IT guy, the cable modem simply just worked flawlessly.

It took the modem a few minutes to synchronize to the cable signal the first time after the installation. Since then it only takes less than 20 seconds each time I turn it on. I love the sleek industrial design and the vertical footprint. It saves desk space and looks cool.

The cable guy did a download speed test using pcpitstop.com after the installation and was getting 1.4 Mbit/s. He tried to explain to me why I was not getting the 3.2 Mbit/s that I was paying for. I did a few more tests myself afterwards and was always getting less than 1.6 Mbit/s. That's when I followed the links at the site to fine tune my Windows registry. After the fine tuning, I am now occasionally getting the 3.2 Mb/s that I am paying for, but mostly getting 2.4 - 2.6 Mb/s. That is almost 2X what I was getting before the tuning. So before you complain to your cable provider about not getting the speed you are paying for, you definitely want to look into tuning your Windows registry. Machines running the Linux OS do not have this problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Linksys Cable Modem (BEFCMU10) with Linksys Router (BEFSR41)
I get my cable modem service through ATT broadband. I have my home networked using a Linksys router, which I consider to be an excellent product. I'd been monitoring the price of cable modems and when I saw the Linksys cable modem for less than $100 (with rebate), I decided to make the purchase and save $10 a month from ATT. The installation couldn't have been easier. I powered down the PC, removed the RCA CM and connected the new Linksys. I powered up, started my browser (IE) and was immediately redirected to an ATT website which asked me for my account number and registration number (last 9 numbers of the account number). I entered them and was forwarded to a page to register the Linksys CM's MAC address, which was automatically placed into the box. I clicked OK and, voila! Done! The next day I returned the leased RCA CM to my local ATT center and they (I hope) adjusted my monthly bill. ATT said they would pick up my CM but that carried a $49 charge.

Prior to the purchase, I called the ATT support center. This proved to be an absolute waste of time. I was on hold for 20 minutes and then the rep was not very helpful. So I started a chat session with another ATT rep and got the exact information I needed. And it worked just as she said it would. And, I was immediately connected to a rep as opposed to the telephone call where I was placed on hold. My advice - skip the phone call - start a chat session instead. More advice - you CANNOT go wrong with Linksys!

4-0 out of 5 stars Try again with Version 3
Bought a Linksys BEFCMU10 (version 2) in January of 2003. Initially had a few problems requiring that I reset the modem. Problem turned out to be an ISP problem. Problem fixed and had a year and a half of excellent service.
Yesterday, my Linksys BEFCMU10 failed. I bought a new (version 3) and am back in business.
At $10 per month to rent a modem from my ISP, I am still money ahead buying my modem. However, the Linksys modem does get hot and the heat is probably exacerbated using the modem with a stakable Linksys router as I do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ditch the Dish, and the Comcast modem
Save money from the monthly modem rental fees and buy this one for keeps. I honestly believe that Comcast's piece of crap modem they gave me for rental (I believe it was an RCA-brand modem) caused my connection to drop off at least once a day for a few hours at random times of the day. Ever since I bought the LinkSys BEFCMU10 EtherFast Cable Modem, I've never been kicked off once. Comcast is still my cable provider, but now (thank God) I have a different modem. Save your money and sanity from the crappy Comcast RCA rental modem. You'll thank me later. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good range and was very simple to install
I can get a wireless signal from anywhere in my home and the speeds are perfect. I cant give the technical info, but I know I don't notice a difference when web browsing from when I am plugged into the router with the Ethernet cable.

Installing this card was very easy and only took about 5 minutes. One reboot and I was up and running. I use Windows 2000 Professional and a Toshiba laptop.

I'd also like to point out that the D-Link utility that comes with this card is very helpful and works quite well. With this utility I can scan the area for wireless access points and then connect to the one I want. It displays useful information like the name of the access point, signal strength, and more.

I recommend this card and if D-Link's other cards come with this type of utility I recommend at least checking them out.

2-0 out of 5 stars
Just like the title says. I am using Windows XP and I still needed the drivers to install the device, no problem. I don't recomend the software that comes witht the card, it just plain SUCKS! I also have the DI-624 wireless router by DLINK.
I don't recommend using WEP or anyother encryption. Instead, set filters to only allow known MAC address to access the network, others wise don't expect to exceed 15-25 feet indoors.

Plays well with other wireless networks, both 802.11b/g

Beware with the different Hardware Versions. I have the lastest which is B2. (makes me question why they make revisions?)

I since made some changes thaT allows it to work beyond the 15-20ft. Here it goes:
TX rate: Auto (must be set on router and card)
Channel: 1 or 11 DO NOT USE Channels:3,6,9 if you have a 2.4 phone (channel must be same on router and card)
WEP: DISABLED, (Both on Router and Card) (affects range)
MAC FILTERING: Allow Known MAC to access the network (option on router)

Settings on Card: > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Dlink DWL-650 > properties > Advanced Tab

Driver Version 2.36 (from Dlink Website)

Preamble: Long (must be same on router)
Antenna Switch: 1 (only if you have 1 antenna, otherwise choose 2)
Antenna Tx: Both
Map registers: 256 (default)
Network Address: not present (default)
Power Save Mode: MAX (This is my personal pereference)
Radio ON/OFF: ON
Transmit Power: 100%

With these settings I gained an extra 30-45 feet. Also I am using DLINK DI-642 wireless router. READ MY REVIEW ON DLINK
DI-624

I was real close to returning this item but after the "tweeking" I am reconsidering.

Hope this helps.

2-0 out of 5 stars was great until it starting flaking out
installation was simple on my IBM T23 running W2k and I was up running in no time and getting good range & performance. after 6 mos, i upgraded firmware on my DI-624 and driver for the G650 and the G650 has been problematic ever since - it hangs my PC until I pull the card out. As others have noted, D-Link support didnt want to acknowlege the possibility that the card was bad. I'm at the point of chucking it and trying another brand. I have no such problems using an Orinoco-based "b" setup while I am at work.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a pain!
I had no problems installing the drivers for this card when I bought it. Excellent signal strength, fast speeds. It decided to stop working about 6 weeks later. I have tried getting help from D-Link support and it has been no help. I have been unable to reconnect for 3 weeks now, and D-Link refuses to accept that it might be a problem with their product. My first contact with tech support was rude and patronizing. The second contact directed me to download a "new" driver from their website--a driver which was older than the version that came with the card! The third, fourth, and fifth contacts were no help either. I've given up hope. Do not buy this card unless you have a lot of time to fix their bugs.

(I'm running Windows Me with a Toshiba PXC1100U cable modem and the D-Link DI-624 wireless router. My roommate has no problem connecting the router with his XP & Centrino-running laptop)

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at D-Link that was helpful. An hour later on the phone, he was finally able to get it working. They need to work on their self-install guide to make it easier for non-techies like me to get their networks up and runnning!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with Windows XP
D-Link card will connect to a peer-to-peer network at home 80% of the time on the first try. Connects to an open (non-wep) base station network (city-wide "Cafenet" wifi) with some coaxing.

Connects to my work network (with wep) intermittently, at best. I don't remember the last time I've had such a frustrating experience. I done everything per D-Link instructions (i.e. if your software doesn't work, disable Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration) and still their software won't run. Windows will often associate with a base station but won't take a DHCP address. This card, on Windows XP, is an absolute nightmare - stay away.

(I should mention it works on my wife's Win2k laptop without issue.) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars HP 10B Calculator not up to standards
Having used HP business calculators for nearly 20 years, and having taught over 30,000 people how to use them, I am very disappointed in the HP10BII. It appears to me that HP built a calculator to compete with the [low priced]business calculators on the market. They succeded in building a [low priced]calculator. If it were merely inexpensive, it would be fine, but it's [low priced]. I have never had an HP calculator go bad until I had a 10BII. Less than a year after buying it, half of the display disappeared. After changing batteries - never required in the first year of ownership of any other HP business calculator, the display came back for a day. HP graciously replaced it with a calculator that had a key go bad within two weeks. A third calculator is on the way. HP used to have a reputation of having the most durable and dependable calculators on the market. They have lost that reputation with this piece of junk. I don't know if I will ever again assume that an HP calculator is a good calculator. The only reason I still use it is because the 10B is no longer available and the College for which I teach wants students to use the 10BII.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it!
I've owned an HP12C calculator for more years than I can count and I love it. I needed to purchase the 10BII because it is the calculator required for the British Columbia Real Estate Exam. Before I received my calculator, I borrowed one from a friend to begin studying. When I received my calculator, I noticed the FV key did not function properly and several of the other keys seemed to function inconsistently. I contacted HP for a replacement because I didn't want to be without the calculator. HP is supposedly sending on via Fed Ex, but in the meantime, I've discovered that on many of the example problems I can input the exact key strokes provided in the work/study book and don't get the correct answer. I can get the correct answer on the 12C and on my friend's calculator, but not on the one I purchased. I'm so frustrated and p.o.'d at this point, I don't want to own a 10BII at all. I'm returning the one I purchased (and the replacement, if it ever gets here) and borrowing my friend's calculator for the test. Then it's back to my 12C.

Shame on HP for producing a calculator of such inferior quality.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good.
I bought the calculator for my finance class. It works very nicely and it performed all the functions necessary for my class. the reason i gave only 4 stars is because of the buttons which at times do not work as smoothly. otherwise the calculator is fine and very easy to learn and use. I recommend it especially at $31.99.

5-0 out of 5 stars Basic Financial Calculator
Good basic (starting) financial calculator for students

2-0 out of 5 stars Poorest Quality
I purchased this calculator about half a year ago. After a month the keys start sticking and you have to press harder to input the values. After 4 month the LCD started to malfunction. Will never buy an HP calculator again - even cheaper no name calculators are sturdier. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice mouse :)
Nice mouse, feels very good in your hand, smooth movement and precise. Only the slightest hint of lag, noticeable in games but non-existent anywhere else. Tilt wheel is a useless gimmick, even a disadvantage. The whole wheel feels weird with fluid STEPLESS rotation which makes it TOTALLY NOT suitable for FPS games: it's overly sensitive, so sometimes you TOUCH it by accident and find the next (or previous) weapon in your hands, very frustrating in the middle of a fight, and because if the same reasons, you can't really make use of the middle mouse button in games (or more likely anywhere), the button needs a very firm press to begin with which is discouraging. I would say the whole wheel (scroll, tilt and button) are the mouse's drawback, may be the only. M$ should ditch the gimmick wheel in favor of something more practical and pleasant to use. How about the wheel that was on the original intellimouse with intellieye? IMO that is THE wheet to beat.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Darn Good (in Spite of the Company)
As much as I am compelled to bash Microsoft for their buggy software, I can't help recommending this mouse. A previous reviewer noted the different shape, but to me the shape actually gives you the sense of a more secure grip on the thing. I admit though it took a few weeks to get used to. My only other observation is a lack of feedback in the scroll wheel. In the old wheel mice you could feel a slight notch at each increment that you rolled the wheel. Not so with this one. So this too takes a bit to get used to when estimating how far you need to roll the wheel in order to go half-way down a page. But those are truly minor quibbles. The installation was a breeze, and it does go easy on the AA batteries. The tilt wheel is a bit of a novelty, but it actually does come in handy on occasion. As far as optical mice go, it is very responsive. You certainly can't go wrong on the price. If you've never used an optical mouse, imagine never having to clean crud and dust bunnies out from inside around the mouse ball. Overall, I'd say if you're in the market for a new mouse and don't need buttons all over it (like the more expensive wireless Intellimouse), snap this one up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value
Bought this great mouse in January and although I use it approximately an hour a day, maybe two....the original batteries are still going strong. Very easy to use and a pleasure not having the wire in the way.

1-0 out of 5 stars Crummy
This mouse is the most awkward and non-ergonomic mouse of any of the MS products I have ever used. It has a weird, tapered, bulbous base that forces your fingers into positions that are not natural. It actually feels more comfortable if you grab it backwards.

My simple MS Intellimouse Optical (corded) mouse blows this one away in shear comfort.

The side-scrolling wheel takes up too much real estate on the top of the mouse. The wheel action offers no positive feedback if you rely on that feature in games. I do.
The wheel button includes a feature to toggle through open applications. First of all, I usually have 10 things open at once so its faster to use the taskbar. Secondly, the pressure required to activate the button is brutal.

I was a bit dismayed to find that the driver was not Win98 compatible. All over box it says 'Windows and MAC'. Only in the fine print on the bottom of the box does it say Win2000 or WinXP only! My bad for not reading every square inch of the box.

I'm a big fan of Microsoft products in general. They USUALLY do their homework, but this one must have been designed by the new guy. The smooth scrolling works great in documents and web pages. But that feature alone does not compensate for the wack ergonomics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Mouse I have ever used
This mouse is very responsive, great feel in your hand, excellent battery life and looks great.

I have had this mouse at work for 5 months and the battery level is still almost full and I use it 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I used the high end logitech and the shape just didnt feel a quarter as good as this mouse. The sideways scroll is great for use in excel spreadsheets but nothing else really.

People this mouse is not for a laptop, the size of the receiver would defeat the purpose of use with a laptop there are better solutions available with smaller wireless mice for laptops.

This mouse is great in games, yes the scroll button is hard at first to swtich weapons but when you get used to it, it is smooth and very nice to use.

I would definately buy another one of these mice. ... Read more

Minolta's DiMAGE Scan Dual IV provides a high-quality 35mm film, slide, and APS film scanning solution. Scanning is achieved using the accompanying film and slide holders (APS film holder must be purchased separately), delivering up to 3,200 dpi resolution. Ideal for serious photo enthusiasts and professionals alike, the DiMAGE Scan Dual IV offers Pixel Polish, Auto Dust Brush, and Grain Dissolver to correct and enhance your photo images.

Pixel Polish restores film images that have faded over time as well as those that suffer from light-distortion (under-exposure, backlighting, and so on). It can also be used manually as a separate plug-in with certain Photoshop versions to give you more precise control of removal parameters and to let you preview results. Grain Dissolver removes excess grain that may be visible when scanning high-speed film or that may appear in images scanned at very high resolutions.

The DiMAGE Scan Dual IV offers fast USB 2.0 connectivity for both PC and Mac users. It can perform batch scanning (up to six filmstrip frames or four mounted slides) or multi-sampling (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x), and lets you control a large number of factors such as tone curve, histogram, sharpness, brightness, exposure, and color balance. 5-0 out of 5 stars Superb precision instrument - but NOT a Plug & Play device
After studying professional reviews (including CR), I decided on the Dual4. Forewarned by other users' comments about troublesome startup, I followed the manual's detailed installation instructions step-by-step. No problem whatever! Realize well that this is NOT a Plug-and-Play unit you just plug into a USB2 slot; if you do, Windows will use its own lame-duck generic WIA scanner driver, and gone are all the wonderful enhancements that Minolta's marvelously sophisticated scanning software offers. THE big secret is patience; precisely follow the instructions (same goes for my HP flatbed scanner) -- install the software from the CD first, and *only then* connect the USB cable when you are instructed to do so. If you don't: well just read what dissatisfied reviewers have to say. Also, when the manual tells you to initialize the scanner "with the door closed", it doesn't explicitly tell you to remove the film holder [it's the only way you can close the scanner door, after all]. Although better written and organized than an Asian DVD-player manual, there are some dense spots that you will need to explore on your own. Still, you can't unlock all the treasures of the software until you read (painstakingly, I might add) the software capabilities. I've only had the scanner for a few weeks but, once I learned how just a hair on the negative will magnify to a tree trunk on the print, it does an astonishing job of converting analog film slides to digital images that you can enhance in the accompanying complete PhotoShop Elements 2 software. A magnificent tool indeed but, like any precision tool, it needs careful adherence to instructions and some experimentation to realize its full potential. An unbeatable harware product, with software fine-tuned to provide the ultimate in quality images. Even so, lack of online tech support, such as simple driver updates, is disconcerting. Ask Amazon for tech support? You must be kidding!

5-0 out of 5 stars IMPRESSED
I am totally impresed with this scanner. I was scanning 35mm film with an Epson 2450. What a difference! More latitude in the tonal range. Very sharp, Scanner has auto and manual focus. Professional driver software. Images consistant in color from scan to scan.
Have not used the dust remove feature yet. So far all my negs and trans are flawless. Even thou it is only 3200 dpi, if you know photoshop, the quality of the scans are so good I have no problems enlarging to 36x24 poster. I did a test and enalrged in the computer to 100 inches and just checking it out on the monitor it still held together NO PROBLEMS!
Have had the scanner for about a month and use it everyday and have had no start up problems or any other sort of problems, yet. But then again I use a MAC. Read the instruction manual before you do anything!
Anyway, well worth the $270 I spent !

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!!!!
For the price this is the best film scanner I have ever used. I have scanned close to 9000 slides and negatives since I purchased it in February. It is easy to use and I have been quite pleased with the color balance and exposures it returns. Images are all sharp and crisp. I just wish it would scan 120 and 220 film.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good scanner, startup procedure a little twitchy
Yeah, I hear what some of the other reviewers are saying about the documentation and the fussy startup process - however complaining that you have to follow the instructions _exactly_ when installing it seems a bit odd to me... I had no problem with the install but then again I don't have a problem following instructions ;->.

But all that said, once you get it right it's a very good scanner. I've used others and this is by far the best. I'm suprised to hear the one reviewer complain about the sharpness of the shots - my scanner does an excellent job. I've scanned in over 500 slides so far (archiving the parent's slide collection from the 60s) and they look great.

The dust remover feature works reasonably well, although I've turned off all the pixel polish and image adjustment stuff - it doesn't make that big of a difference on my shots and makes the resulting images bigger.

The batch scan is great - I just sit here and work on other stuff and feed in 4 slides at a time. I've tried both color slides and negative film, both look excellent.

For those still frustrated by the startup sequence - here's what I do and it works every time.

1. Turn on your computer, let it boot.
2. Once up, turn on the scanner with the door closed.
3. Fire up the scanning software you want to use (batch scan, easy scan etc...).
4. once it barks at you to put the film in properly, then open the door and feed in your tray.

After that, you're good to go. I find if you deviate from the process you can come to grief. Once up, I've never had it fail and I've crammed through 150 slides at a sitting without a hitch.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but Quirky
1) The lack of any product support is infuriating as stated by the others.
2) The resulting images and flexibility of features provided are amazing... and I did not say "at this price." I don't consider a $270 gizmo for a $1300 computer cheap. It's over 1/5 the price of a high end host machine.
3) The scanner works well, has user friendly film strip and slide holders, does everything I expected it to do. A lot of flexibility in resolution and a lot of features for fixing freckles.
4) The main complaint is the overly sensitive startup procedure. Do it just right or it doesn't work, won't say why and just sits there. On the other hand, Do It Just Right and it may do the very same thing.
5) The documentation is helpful but poorly organized and vague. NOWHERE does it state a simple 5 step procedure for starting the device, bringing up the software and getting on with the scanning. That is THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL basic any manual should obviously provide. The booklet rambles from topic to topic throwing in a dire warning every few paragraphs and never offers a simple "Here's how you use it" sequence.
6) One of the problems with film scanners is LOW VOLUME AND POOR SHOPPING ACCESS. For most buyers, there is no place you can go and see the physical units nor see them demonstrated. Neither Circuit City nor Best Buy stores in MD stock them or demo them.
7) Overall impression: A great product that can do all you expect of it within specifications BUT an immature product that was not debugged and idiot-proofed before being thrown on the market. That is especially strange since there was a II and a III prior to this IV model. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time & money!
Original Zire was a ground breaking product because of its low price. But a year later Palm is still trying to sell the same small screen with no backlight for same price?

Pro's,
1. Its price.
2. Has latest stable Palm OS version 5.
3. Looks very good, doesn't feel cheap (so you can gift it).
4. Comes with rechargeable battery and standard USB cable.
5. Fast ARM processor, good stylus and infrared port.

Con's,
1. Still no backlight on screen (uesless in dark or medium light).
2. Screen is B&W and only 160x160 pixels, again the worst you will find on a 2003 handheld.
3. No mp3, mpeg, jpeg support. Without the multimedia features the gift receiver doesn't get much excited.
4. No expansion slot and only 8MB memory.
5. 90 day warranty.
6. Processor & OS are new but rest of hardware is pathetic, new OS is not put to any use.

With Tungsten E selling for well below 199 mark, I would strongly recommend getting T|E instead of Zire 21. You will get so much for a few more $$. Or you might as well get original Zire for half the cost. Zire 21 is good only as a gift to your mother-in-law, not recommended for personal use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great option for the price
I've been wanting to switch over to a PDA for last couple months basically to get rid of the bulk & the hassle of carrying around a paper planner. When this product was released I knew it was exactly what I needed, the original Zire lacked the memory I wanted to be able to install some 3rd party software, such as games. With this new model I have more than enough room for a few games to play in between classes as well as the standard datebook & address software.

I basically use my Zire 21 to keep track of appointments, homework, and telephone numbers, but the expense software included seems like a great program if you are interested in keeping track of that information on your Palm.

Overall this is perfect for organizing my sometimes hectic college career and I expect once I graduate it will be just as helpful in keeping my organinzed and on time.

The only feature I think would be a nice addition would be a backlight. The screen is easy to view in normal and even some low light, but in the dark is useless. A backlight would ensure it would be viewable at all times. I primarily use mine during the day in light conditions though, so this isn't really a problem, but I can see some people using a backlight frequently.

4-0 out of 5 stars sort of satisfied
Well I have read the entire first page of reviews and while reading them, I found out that what the people were saying was true. For me it has been a good pda and hasnt had the problem of resetting near cell phones. To tell you the truth, at this very moment it is 6 inches away from one right now and its still working fine. So for whoever had this problem, I think its just bad luck. But in the past I have had to reset it myself because it would freeze up when I put certain games on it. So overall I think it was good and I didn't like the fact that there was no backlight. So if you are a first time pda user, you should get it.

3-0 out of 5 stars get what you pay for
I actually thought it would have more options then it did. There is nothing to do with finances on the zire 21. It has never reset itself on me and really keeps a charge for a long time. I have had mine for a few months. Hard to see in dim light. Once again, lack of options. If you want a daily planner, mini organizer, and somewhere to keep phone numbers, and email addresses it is great.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Zire 21 resets when placed near your cell phone !
This is outrageous - my Zire 21 was frequently doing spontaneous hard resets, losing all the data. I finally figured out why - it can't be kept near a cell phone. Huh ???? What do they think we're all carrying around with us all the time ? Someone should file a class action lawsuit and make them do a recall on all these units ... Meanwhile, don't buy one unless you want to be constantly backing up your data, since Palm is apparently doing nothing about this. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as other linksys products...
The WET11 is not the same quality and performance I have come to expect from Linksys after owning a few of their other products (one wireless AP router/switch, and one wired router/switch).

First if all, the status LEDs are all the same color, and power up or reset does not affect their state unless you are already connected up to a WAN and/or LAN. In other words, it acts like it is DOA on power up - only the PWR led comes on.

Second, it appears that you MUST use the included "SETUP" disk to initially access the WET11. The WET11, by default, has a static private IP of 192.168.1.225. Therefore, I expected to be able to bypass the setup up disk and access the WET11's html config menu directly through my web browser, but could not until after I had run the setup wizard.

Third, the WET11 is not compatible with all NICs. My computer has an Orange Micro 10/100 Ethernet NIC, and the WET11 NEVER was able to work with it. (LAN LED never lit, and setup wizard could never detect the WET11; yes the cross-over select switch was in the X position). The same orange micro NIC works with both the Linksys AP, my Linksys Router/Switch, and my Motorola and RCA Cable modems, so it is obviously a compatibility issue with the WET11 and not the NIC.

Fourth, the latest firmware version 1.4.3 does not have any RSSI or link quality status as the older (1.3.2) did. Why doesn't Linksys include generic link test utilities and basic signal quality and strength status meters like the ones included in CISCO 802.11 products? It seems that Linksys is afraid to let the user see this info as it may shed light on the poor performance of this product:-(

Fifth, the cost of the WET11 is more than their BEFW11S4 Wireless AP router/switch. WHY? The BEFW11S4 has way more functionality, quality, and can be configured to act like a wireless bridge anyways, with a little effort.

In summary, if you have a computer that has a non-orange micro NIC (an any other non-compatible NIC), and you use the setup disk and ignore the Status LEDS, and do not upgrade the firmware, then the WET11 may be right for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with the WET11
After reading the specs on the Linksys WET11 and downloading the user manual from their website, I decided to purchase a unit. I am very pleased with this product and it works as I had expected.

Setting it up was a breeze. The antenna is screwed on to the right side of the unit (which is surprisingly small). Plug in the power supply. I then hooked it up to a PC laptop with the supplied RJ45 cable and ran the setup program. I have an SMC Barricade 7004AWBR router with a built in wireless access point. The WET11 was configured to use the same SSID and channel as the SMC and then set to DHCP. All done.

The unit can then be connected to your ethernet device in one of two ways. One is directly to your desktop or laptop, for example. The other is to hook it up to a hub or switch and from there wire it up to one or more desktops or even laptops. There is a switch on the unit to select which mode will be used. While I do have a wireless card for the laptop, it's nice to have the flexibility of going wired for desktops.

The icing on the cake is that I now have wireless connectivity for my Mac Beige G3. I've been looking for a solution and the WET11 solves it. Before, I had to run a long RJ45 cable to it from the router. Now I can connect it to the WET11 through either of the two options mentioned and get on the web as before, except it's now wireless. One tip - set the Mac to a manual IP address. For some reason, setting the Mac for DHCP does not work. For me a very minor issue.

I have not seen any dropped connections for the few days I've had it and it sure runs cool. All in all, it has met my expectations, perhaps more so with the Mac. For the money, I see no comparable product out there. Check it out.

1-0 out of 5 stars When a Linksys product doesn't work, you are out of luck
I bought a wireless G router from Linksys in October, and still have not gotten it to work. The unit did not come with an installation CD (which was listed on the package), and I was told "You can buy one if you want". Countless emails, faxes, calls, and letters to both tech support and corporate, have gotten me nowhere. "We will send you the CD immediately". Never happens. "We are so sorry, and will make this right". Never happens. When I asked for an RMA, I was told "I think an RMA has something to do with returning the product". I will never EVER buy a Linksys product again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does the job
I bought a WET11v2 with 2.08 firmware. I cannot speak for the WET11v1, but v2 has been good to me. Configured it in 15 minutes and it has worked great since. The WET11 is usually sold for slightly more than Netgear's competing ME101, but that extra $10 buys you a huge advantage: a fully functional working product. With the ME101, you save a few dollars and get a neutered Yugo. If you need a 802.11b bridge, the WET11 is the best choice.

1-0 out of 5 stars Linksys - Born to break
My first experience with Linksys was a router. It allowed me to hook up my non-ethernet stuff by USB, and share my cable modem around my home office. It was simple to set up and worked great for 4 weeks until it gradually began to fail. First the USB port went dead, then if I had more than two PCs connected, it would slow on ethernet file transfers from 10mbps to dialup speeds. Then it died for good.

I swore to myself never again, but then along comes this bridge... easy to configure, good price... I was a fool.

Currently my bridge can be relied upon to drop them every 5-15 minutes when I'm trying to do something important (like FTP my new web site to the remote server). Used to be that the dropouts were few and far between, and only under heavy use. But just as my other Linksys product gradually went bad, this one's dropouts are growing more and more frequent.

I researched it on the net, read how flashing new firmware stopped the dropouts. I upgraded the firmware, did everything I could, and for a week it seemed to be doing great. And now it's worse than ever. I'm constantly having to reboot the unit. It's driving me bonkers.

I specifically warn people away from this product. If you get one that performs fine in the beginning, big deal. They all do. If you have decent performance six months later, you're an anomaly. In my experience, Linksys is born to break and you'd be better off saving yourself the aggravation by buying a more reliable brand. ... Read more

It's ambidextrous, too--whether you control it with your right or left hand, the wireless optical mouse is shaped for comfort.

5-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Wirless Optical Desktop Pro Set
Awesome set!!! I have had a Microsoft Natural keyboard for years, and loved it. When I saw they came out with a wireless desk top version I was delighted. And in colors that match todays computers. It was extremely easy to install and set up. I love the fact that the receiver doesn't have to even be on my desk. I also love the fact that there are no wires getting in the way of my work space. The ergonomic design is terrific. If you have had microsofts previous natural keyboards you're gonna love this set. The features are basically the same. A few minor changes have been made to the keyboard, but nothing big. The keyboard and mouse function wonderfully within a six foot range. Which is more than adaquate. Microsoft warrants the set for five years too. That is a fabulous warranty. (Be sure and save your receipts, make an extra copy so you don't lose it should you need to obtain service.) The set takes 2 AA batteries for the Keyboard, and 2 for the mouse. The batteries are said to last up to six months, but for those of us that are always on the computer we'll have to change them more frequently. If you find your set isn't fuctioning properly follow their reconnecting instructions first, try a different channel(all this is described in the manual), if none of those work, it's most likely your batteries. They take regular AA batteries like Energizer or Duracell Ultra. So they are fairly cheap. If your looking for a great wireless keyboard & mouse set this is it! It's so simple to use, try it. I sure enjoy mine.**** Please Note; I don't have the Pro 2 I have the Microsoft Wireless Optical Pro(looks identical with the exception of the mouse, mine is silver on top).

2-0 out of 5 stars Lot of issues...
What I don't like:
#1
Sometimes it seemed to register me pressing a key longer than I actually has, sparadic and usually on the number pad.
#2
Function Lock: one of the dumbest things I've seen.
#3
Mouse was too inaccurate. Might not be an issue for people who don't adjust sensitivity on mouse. I'm one of those people who crank it way up and demand extreme responsiveness and accuracy. If you need this as well this product is probably not for you.
#4
Non-standard layout of those keys between main board and numberpad. I hate that.
#5
All those big buttons and shortcuts you put on top of your "high-end" keyboards... Maybe someone wants them but I don't. Don't make a wireless keyboard so huge I don't want to move around with it....

What I like:
#1
Pretty quiet keys overall.
#2
New scroll wheel is nice. Hope to see this in future products. Smooth and responds faster than old tick tick tick.
#3
Broke Function keys into 4 groupings of 3 vs. 3 groupings of 4. Thank you! Once I got used to it I was more accurate/faster at finding my functions and not looking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow, what a product!!
This product was wonderful. I had an natural keyborad and intellimouse explorer 3.0. The mouse was bad and need to be replaced. I came across this item at Best Buy and they were asking too much for it. I found it here and it was cheap and exactly what I wanted. I really didn't know what to expect of the product before I purchased it. Once I got it, the product was great. The thing was easy to set up. I could place the receive any where on my desk, below my desk and just about everywhere else the cord could reach and still has perfect reception for the mouse. The keyboard is great, just like the old natural keyboard, however it is lighter and feels a bit cheaper than the old one. The keyboard has little texture on it and it is transparent black. The functions on it were great. The mouse takes a while to get use to because it is higher than the old mouse which I had been using for a long time. I got use it in 4 days. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a great combo.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mouse keys are not programmable
The keyboard and mouse are overall quite nice but the mouse has one glaring flaw - the two side buttons and the wheel are not truly programmable and customizable as is noted on Amazon's and Microsoft's sites. You are only given a limited choice of commands that they will execute.

1-0 out of 5 stars As many bugs as new 'useful' keys
I'm on my second try of this product. Amazon's great customer services change the other because 5 or 6 keys was wrong, my numerical pad doen't works, when I press 7 1 6 9 or 3, the keyboards sends tons of diferent orders, even to send my computer to stanBy.

The second keyboard was best, but it still have to many bugs, my left hand CTRL, SHIFT, and ALT keys doesn't respond sometimes, and others respond but doesn't hold the signal to make multiple selections.

Final words... Try later when the bugs are corrected. now try another manufacturer ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Zen Micro digital music player from Creative Labs packs an incredible 5 GB of storage capacity into a shell small enough to sit comfortably in your jeans pocket. It also rides nicely in your hand, with a palm-fitting profile and thumb-friendly front-panel controls. It's a bit shorter than an Apple iPod Mini, yet its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 12 hours of continuous playback--50 percent more than iPod Mini's. The Zen Micro is compatible note merely with MP3s and WAV files, but with WMA as well. Toss in USB 2.0 connectivity and you're looking at one spiffy portable music player.

But playing isn't all the Zen Micro does. You can use it to receive FM radio (with 32 station presets to keep your favorites at the ready), and to record, either from the radio or from live sources such as dictation or lectures using the built-in condenser microphone.

Trimmed in a luminescent blue glow and with easily visible backlit buttons, this stylish pink player holds up to 1,250 songs (83 hours) at 128 kbps or 2,500 songs (166 hours) at lower-fidelity 64 kbps (MP3/WMA)--that's a solid week's worth of music listening, never playing the same song twice. Compatibility with Microsoft's WMA compressed-audio format grants access to over 2 million downloadable songs offered promotionally or for sale online.

Perhaps the Zen Micro's coolest attribute is its DJ feature, which will shuffle not only all the songs you've loaded or all the songs on a given album, but, at your discretion, only the tracks you listen to most or only the ones you rarely hear, taking the work out of selecting your favorites or hunting out all the music you're still getting to know.

Zen Micro's rechargeable battery is easy to replace.
For navigation, the device features a vertical, linear touchpad designed to make searching through songs or playlists easy, quick, and fun. The unit's blue, 160 x 104-pixel, electroluminescent LCD shows key functions and song details at a glance, and you can even customize the main menu to keep right at your fingertips the features that matter most to you.

Another of the Zen Micro's handy features is its personal organizer. You'll never forget an important anniversary with the onboard calendar, and it also includes a to-do list and a contacts list, all of which sync seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook (Outlook thus required for use of these features). In addition, the device offers a sleep timer and alarm so you can drift off to sleep to the strains of one playlist and wake to a completely different one.

The Zen Micro's removable battery is easy to swap with another fully charged battery (additional batteries sold separately), extending your listening by a half-day per swap.
