3-0 out of 5 stars Great printer; not a very good scanner
The HP PSC 1350 is an excellent color inkjet printer. Text and images are clear and vibrant.

Unfortunately, the built-in flatbed scanner leaves much to be desired. Colors come out looking "washed out" or inaccurate. The images are blurry, and if you apply the built-in sharpening, the edges become jagged.

Nevertheless, the scanner is good enough for making quick black & white copies like you would with a Xerox machine. Just don't expect it to be good enough for photographs. Get a real scanner for that.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great printer, but beware the ink prices!
I was thrilled to find a multifunctional printer for such a good price. It prints gorgeous photos even without the special photo ink, the scanner is the best I've used so far, the copier function is super easy to use, and the card reader was a nice surprise (I thought it was only for printing directly from a memory card - turns out you can use it to open files from the card on your computer). I haven't used the proof-sheet function yet so I can't comment on that.I only have two gripes with it: 1. the top of the scanner doesn't come off - this would make it a lot easier to scan/copy book pages or other things that aren't completely flat or are larger than the scanner itself; 2. The ink costs a small fortune! Even at a military exchange store, where prices are usually pretty low, it's $25 for black, $35 for color. I guess that's how they make up for the low price of the printer itself!Overall, though, it's such a great item that I had to give it 4 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck
This printer is a really good value. I am just heading off to college and I think that this printer can do everything a college student needs to do. It can do everything from print out my essays, to creating high nice looking photographs (the printer includes 15 sheets of photo paper). The all-in-one also make copies fast and with good clarity. This printer is with out a doubt the best bang for the buck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great printer!
I have no problems with this printer. The photo printing is excellent (more than what I expected). It is a great size for a multi-function printer (I thought it was going to be huge like a lot of the other multi-function printers but its not!). If you are looking for an inexpensive printer yet still has quality, then this is the one!

1-0 out of 5 stars HP blew it on this one
After our HP multi-function printer was damaged in a lightning storm we purchased this cheaper version. What a mistake! After finally getting the software to load, when the paper isn't jammed, it shakes and sputters until it finally spits out a damp feeling print. I guess you get what you pay for. We never had any trouble with the old model. ... Read more

From the Manufacturer

D-Link, the industry pioneer in wireless networking, introduces another performance breakthrough in wireless connectivity--the D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G series of high-speed devices capable of transfer rates up to 54Mbps.

The D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G520 PCI Adapter is a wireless PCI adapter featuring the very latest in advanced wireless silicon chip technology to deliver incredibly fast data transfer in the 2.4 GHz frequency. The DWL-G520 also works with 802.11b standard wireless devices and when used with other D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G products delivers throughput speeds capable of handling heavy data payloads, including real-time MPEG video streaming.

The D-Link AirPlus DWL-G520 also includes a configuration utility to discover available wireless networks and create and save detailed connectivity profiles for those networks most often accessed.

In addition to being the industry’s fastest wireless network solution, it includes management settings and policy-based content filtering for advanced network management. Filters can be set based on MAC address, IP address, URL and/or Domain Name.

The D-Link Xtreme G DWL-G520 with 108 upgrade is ideal for creating a fast and affordable wireless network, delivering the industry’s fastest wireless network performance. D-Link Xtreme G is also the only 802.11g solution with 108Mbps mode that remains fully interoperable and compatible with all 2.4GHz devices, capable of creating one homogenous network environment for the multi-vendor environment.

  • Packet Bursting: The packet bursting technique puts more data into a single transmission, allowing more raw data to be stuffed into each packet and as a result not only delivers much more data, but also executes this process with less traffic on the network. Packet bursting transforms lengthy binary code into simple equations, resulting in an overall reduction in the number of 1s and 0s being sent over the network. It is also the technique defined as one of the methods for performance improvement in the IEEE 802.11e QOS draft standard.
  • Fast Frames: The fast frames technique enhances data throughput by increasing the number of bits sent per data frame and accelerating the timing of a data frame with a dynamic transmit optimizations. This technology enhances the Packet Bursting capability synergistically to provide accelerated performance results. The fast frames technique is also based on the 802.11e QOS draft standard.

  • Hardware Compression and Encryption: Xtreme G uses the Atheros AR5002 chipset which employs special engines to compress and encrypt data. These hardware engines operate in real-time to enhance throughput by implementing standard algorithms and compressing data prior to transmission and after reception.
  • Multi-Channel Bonding: Multi-Channel Bonding embraces two radio channels simultaneously. It collapses the available channels from 12 to 6 for increased bandwidth on the available channels. Single and double channels are not run at the same time. This technology senses single channel and dual channel frames and negotiates time-based solutions with priority on single channel processing.
  • Select Mode: Select Mode gives users the option of locking the Xtreme G products into a Static mode (instead of the default Dynamic mode) for even higher performance within a complete D-Link 108Mbps Xtreme G environment.

The DWL-G520 is a powerful 32-bit PCI adapter that installs quickly and easily into desktop PCs and when used with other D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G products automatically connects to the network. Like all D-Link wireless adapters, the DWL-G520 can be used in ad-hoc mode to connect directly with other 2.4 GHz wireless computers for peer-to-peer file sharing or in infrastructure mode to connect with a wireless access point or router for access to the Internet in your office or home network. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Rather simple install and gets good signal from AP
I have installed PCI cards before so this wasn't that hard to do, and everything went as planned thanks to the quick install guide included with the PCI card. All I had to do was follow instructions and it actually worked the way it is supposed to. Install probably took about 10 minutes total because of unplugging yout PC and opening it up.

The signal strength is also quite good considering the antenna is behind a computer and stuffed under a desk. I get about 60-75% signal strength on average. sometimes if people are standing in the way I get a little downgrade in strength, but nothing that effects the speeds.

I really like the software utility that comes with this card (and the laptop card) because they are very informative. The more info I know the better, just as long as it isn't thrown at me all at once. Luckily that is exactly what this software does. It isn't too complicated or too watered down.

I'd recommend this card to anyone who doesn't want to put holes in their rental place to run Ethernet cables to the next room. Wireless is much easier and the speeds are the same, as far as internet browsing and gaming goes.

1-0 out of 5 stars Crashes some systems
I purchased two of these cards and a D-Link DI-624 Wireless access point. The card I installed in my wife's old PC running Windows98 worked fine. The one I put in my PC running Windows XP Pro randomly freezes the computer.

I know the problem is related to the card, because XP only crashes when I have the card enabled. If I connect to the access point using standard wired ethernet, the crashes do not occur.

I do not recommend this card, and will not buy any other products from D-Link.

1-0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!!!
Bought the DWL-G520 from another internet merchant along with the DI-624. The DI-624 works great, but this PCI card is the worst product I've ever bought. Running on Win2K SP4, it locks up my computer after 5 minutes of use everytime!

After talking to clueless Level 1 Support several times and jumping their hoops (upgrade bios, upgrade sound card drivers, upgrade video card drivers, upgrade chipset drivers, upgrade OS service pack, use newest driver, revert to old driver, move the card to a different PCI slot...), I was finally able to have the card RMA'd.

But the same symptom happened with the replacement card they sent me. In all my years, this is the worst POS I've ever come across and D-Link Level 1 Support is worst and most clueless support technicians I have ever encountered, EVER. Avoid this card if you value your time and money and if you ever need their support, skip to Level 2 support!

2-0 out of 5 stars Good luck if you buy this product
This product caused my PC (HP 8660C with Windows 98 SE) to freeze every time after 5-60 minutes of use. Installing the latest drivers on the PC and the D-Link router, as well as two calls to customer service, did not resolve the problem. Reading the other reviews, clearly this adapter works on some PC configurations and not others. You might be lucky, or you might spend many frustrating hours trying to get it working. I returned it and bought a Linksys router and adapter with speedbooster, which work great. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 star was the customer service, which was based in the US instead of India, and at least tried to solve the problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars Never worked for me...
I bought this PCI card and companion router (the DI-624) upon reading reviews from several respected sources. To be blunt these components just never worked. In fact the DI520 card froze my desktop computer every time it was on! Not a great way to be wireless... Switched to Linksys and everything is great, fantastic, not a single call to tech support (compared to about 8 hours over five days with d-link). In short, I doubt that this is a bad product, but it certainly is a one star rating for my experience. Finally, be sure you buy from a dealer that will allow easy returns because if you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, you will want to launch it and try something else. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great alternative to more expensive Coolscan 5000
First of all, let me say I am relatively new at scanning and that I LOVE the Coolscan V as a cheaper alternative to the Coolscan 5000 which I have also used. I recently decided to go through my father's 20,000 slides and scan the best ones before they, as many before them, disappeared into the hands of one of my 7 other siblings never to be found again.

After culling my father's slides I ended up with about 750 I wanted to scan. After culling my own slides I ended up with another 200 slides. And after that I decided to go through my color negative collection and scan the best of those as well. Just recently, my father in law enlisted me to go through his slide collection of about 1500 slides since he was blown away by the results I achieved on my father's slides with the Coolscan 5000.

Most of my father's slides, and all of my father-in-law's slides are Kodachrome. Much has been written about the inability of this scanner to scan Kodachrome slides and said about ICE4 not working with Kodachrome. Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The ICE4 does work, however, inconstantly with Kodachrome slides producing unacceptable artifacts in about 5 - 10 percent of the slides. It is a hit or miss proposition. I scanned with ICE (not ICE4) always on and then rescanned if I encountered unacceptable artifacts. I did notice that the scanner ICE feature was stumped by old Kodachrome slides where subjects were wearing shirts with stripes. Those stripes were really butchered by the ICE feature. The difference in scanning quality between the Coolscan 5000 and the V was negligible to this relative newcomer to scanning.

The GEM ROC and DEE (the other stalwarts of the ICE4 other than ICE itself) work on Kodachrome slides as well, but I found that the results were unpredictable and that I could achieve better results myself in Photoshop far more quickly. The GEM ROC and DEE features simply took too long and slowed down the scanning unacceptably. The results, for me, were not worth the additional scanning time. The V took even longer than the 5000, but in neither case, IMHO, did the results justify the time expended.

The good news: The scanner is does produce wonderful wonderful detailed scans, easily demonstrating the grain in the transparancies at 3000 and 4000 dpi. The Kodachrome slides were a challenge to the Dynamic Range of the scanner, but I believe that most of the detail in the shadows that is there was extracted. Unfortunately, Kodachrome, with all of its many attributes, does have substantial downsides including a very narrow exposure latitude and shadow detail is simply lacking. I think the scanner accurately reproduced the information including the colors on the Kodachrome slides, with perhaps a slight bluish cast noticed in some cases. I was unable to appreciate a significant difference between the two scanners in shadow detail even though the 5000 had a THEORETICAL greater dynamic range.

The V was slower than the 5000, but honestly the difference for the non-professional scanner, to me, was not worth the additional investment. The V represents a superb value giving you nearly all of the advantages of the 5000 other than speed for a substantially cheaper price.

It wasn't until I was finished scanning all of the culled slides that I undertook to scan my select color negatives. And this scanner really came into its own scanning color negatives. Don't even TRY to scan color negatives without ICE because the results are unbelievably bad. Even pristine negatives have scratches and dustthat magically are erased by the ICE feature. What a godsend. I only wish it had worked so flawlessly on the Kodachrome slides. The scanned color negatives were just beautiful with very accurate color rendition. But immediately I noticed much more grain in the color negatives (Royal Gold and Fuji Superia Gold) than in the scanned slides.

One note unrelated to the scanner itself. Until you've used a digital scanner to scan your color negatives you can't begin to realize how far superior Kodachrome, Provia, and Ektachrome slides are to color negatives insofar as capturing detail. Even the best color negatives have much more grain that Kodachrome. And the difference in color negatives is substantial too.

The included Nikon software worked fantastic for me. I downloaded a copy of VueScan which according to many reviews is superior to the Nikon software and found that for me the Nikon software was easier to work with and produced superior results.

The software did cause my computer to crash occasionally which was an aggravation, but a minor one when considered against its many attributes.

I can recommend this scanner without reservation. It is a phenomenal piece of equipment. If speed is not a paramount consideration and you are not a professional scanner needing the options (the auto feeder) offered by the 5000 then, in my opinion, the V represents an absolutely tremendous value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scanner does not disappoint.
Decade's collection of fading film this COOLSCAN can handle. You can obtain detailed images that are truly vivid, sharp, and better than the original then technology.

Batch scanning can be done with one click on the Scan button in Nikon Scan 4's firmware. The maintenance free red, green, blue, and infrared LED light source is gentle to film. The 4000 ppi optical resolution is an ideal start for outputting A3+ prints on the new crop of large format bubblejet and inkjet printers.

Reading the Nikon Scan Reference Manual in the Nikon Scan Reference Manual/Easy Scanning Guide CD would be your best learning tool to get the most out of your scanner. For the most accurate results, the first thing to do before scanning is to set your preferences by clicking on the Prefs button in the Control Area of the Scan Window.

When enabled, the Digital ICE quad Advanced software works well with most film. The Manual will explain that ICE, ROC, GEM, and DEE will not operate with the optional FH-G1 Medical Holder.

ICE will not work on monochrome film unless the film has been developed in colour. ICE will not work properly on Kodachrome, but will work on other brands of slides. Noise may appear if ICE is used on overexposed or very vivid images. ICE will reduce the overall sharpness of the image. ICE is not not designed nor does ICE advertise itself to remove all dust and scratches from film. ICE will reduce most of the dust and scatches, however. You will have to use a third party application like Adobe Photoshop to remove the remaining dust and scratches. ICE alone will double the scanning time of 38 seconds.

ROC may add colour to monochrome or grayscale images. ROC alone will almost double the scanning time.

GEM alone will almost triple the scanning time.

DEE works best when the image is cropped to exclude other unexposed areas of the film. DEE alone will almost quadruple the scanning time.

When enabled, Scan Image Enhancer (SIE) will automatically adjust hue. It does not work with darker images. In fact, the scan produces darker images. You are better off using DEE to pull out hidden detail in the shaded areas.

ICE, ROC, GEM, DEE, and SIE together will almost quintuple the scanning time.

Unsharp Mask can be created to all colours, or individually to red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, or yellow colours in the image. Deselect blue if you do not want to emphasize the grain in an image with blue sky.

The SA-21 strip-film adaptor only works for 2 - 6 frames. To save money by not having to buy the optional 1 - 6 frame FH-3 film holder, place a 1 frame negative into an empty cardboard slide holder and insert into the MA-21 slide holder. Remember to select Neg (color), and Calibrated RGB in the Control Area before scanning.

Along with a short USB 2.0 cable, included in the package is a Nikon View 6 CD, which is an application, used to organize saved pictures in TIFF and JPEG file formats only. According to the Manual, large files created in Nikon Scan may not show on Nikon View slide shows.

Before clicking on the Scan button, press Ctrl (MS Windows) and the Autofocus button. Then left click on a focal point in the preview image to ensure accurate focusing at that point. You can always change the focus point using the same method, or by using the Focus Tool in the Layout Tools palette. The palette can also be customized to suit.

If you have to use the Analog Gain palette to correct or adjust the colour values for each of the elements in the scanner's light source, your LED's may require repair. The probability of repair to the LED's is not specifically discussed in the Manual.

If desktop or cubbyhole space is an issue, the scanner can be placed with either the top or side vents facing up. Remember to provide the minimum clearances to the scanner for ventilation. The dual wrap around band of rubber feet will ensure a cushioned slip resistant footing.

After using the transparency unit on an Epson Perfection 1670 Photo flatbed scanner for 2 months, this COOLSCAN is the only economical equipment to use to obtain satisfying scans. It is amazing how much the original analogue images have improved.

If you have at minimum several hundred frames to archive, and the time to spend in front of your monitor performing adjustments and scans to each frame, then you will not regret overspending on this scanner.

5-0 out of 5 stars First personal transparency scanner
Having worked with professional drum scanners (Hell Graphic Systems), I know a little about scanning. This Nikon Coolscan V ED is the first personal scanner I have worked with and am pleasantly surprised. I have inhereted the old familly slide collection and several of the slides are grossly underexposed, or darkened with age. The V ED has the sensitivity to pull out more image than I had hoped for, with very little noise. The provided software is no replacement for Photoshop, but can go a long ways to giving acceptable results without other image retouching software. I am eager to see SilverFast for the V ED however!

The only problems I've encountered is unexpected termination of the program, and mis-judging frame boundaries of negative strips. Negative scanning is a snap, an unexpected pleasure as thinking color in reverse is painful (on German drum scanners).

For the price, this is a very highly capable scanner worthy of your consideration. If your scan rate needs are high, consider the faster version, and a FAST G5 Macintosh. A 1.25 GHz G4 gets a workout on the tougher scans. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good monitor
This is a reasonably good LCD , it does suffer on the analog connector somewhat, the text is a little softer than i'd like
I use mine in portrait mode 100% of the time and its great, the DVI input is pretty good, though i still see some noise, but for the price its really good.

The software that comes with it for rotation is utter garbage, don't install it, it doesn't work well, the mouse goes crazy, no tech support, and it won't work with most laptops, use your video cards built in rotation instead if you have it, most ATIs and NVIDIAS have it, some of the ATI cards you have to tweak to switch the setting on, i did with my laptops 9000PRO.

Altohugh my 21" trinitron was a much better picture ,i prefer the portrait and the desk space! .

5-0 out of 5 stars Good buy
I use this monitor exclusively for gaming. It's hooked up via DVI-D to an nVidia GeForce FX 5950 card. I have nothing bad to say about the monitor's performance - the games I play look spectacular with it.

I am used to a Sony Trinitron 19" CRT and now, when I look at the CRT alongside this Samsung LCD? The CRT looks terrible :)

Best part of this Samsung LCD? The blacks are REALLY black. When I use xterms the clarity of the text is out of this world.

If you can afford ~$1200, I really recommend this monitor to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wish I researched Samsung's replacement policy before buying
Bought two of these monitors about two weeks ago. Both came with several dead pixels right next to each other forming an annoying blimp on the screen. Samsung agreed to replace both units. However, when the replacements arrived today, they turned out to be refurbished and with MUCH greater problems. One had a horrible color problem where one edge of the screen has one shade and the other another. Much worse when looked at from an angle. Another replacement was too dim even with brightness set to 100. Both refurbished monitors had many dead pixels. Apparently, this is acceptable to Samsung.
Beware! Samsung will only replace with refurbished monitors, so if yours comes defective, you are out of luck trying to replace for a new unit.
Needless to say, I will never buy Samsung again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good picture quality, not good for gamers
This monitor has a truly amazing picture at 1600x1200, and the colors are great, too. With DVI, the picture is very stable and quite beautiful

HOWEVER:

If you are a hardcore gamer, pass this one up.

Many people may disagree with this, but for me the ghosting is too noticeable and it is distracting and can actually detract from your gameplaying.

For instance, if you play Unreal Tournament 2004 online, you need to be able to rotate the camera all the time while still retaining the ability to discern motion in the distance (say, an enemy running at you). With this monitor the ghosting is just too much and it can seriously hinder your playing.

However, everything else about it is good as far as LCDs go. For me, I am going to return this monitor and go with a ViewSonic 22" CRT instead. It's half the price and offers just as good a picture quality in my opinion. Plus, I like being able to run my monitor at any resolution without having to worry about interpolation. And, I'll say it again -- for me ghosting is a show stopper.

Here's a small experiment: try tracking the mouse pointer with your eyes in windows while moving it at various speeds. On this monitor is blurs easily. On a CRT it doesn't. If you are a gamer -- stay away. For this price you can get a CRT that will blow this LCD out of the water.

However, other factors such as the ergonomics of this monitor are pretty good..

5-0 out of 5 stars Tip if used in 90-degree "portrait" mode
Inasmuch as this monitor alone cost more than my last IBM computer system (including monitor and printer), I was highly critical of it the first couple weeks -- looking for dead pixels (none found) -- etc. I edit several newsletters in QuarkXpress and my eyesight is slowing failing. I bought this unit because of its nifty pivot-to-portrait-mode capability, a feature I value highly, and which reminded me of my old Macintosh Portait (monochrome) Monitor years ago, which I loved. Anyway, I was less than pleased at first with the sharpness of small fonts, when viewed in portrait mode: five lines were sharp, the next five line fuzzy, the next five were sharp, etc. In checking with Samsung's 1-800 technical support, a techie worked me through 20 minutes of fine adjustements until he suggesed I push the monitor's "Auto" button (I hadn't done so earlier, as I assumed incorrectly that it would merely discard all my fine adjustments are return to factory-preset defaults). But that did the trick! All type everywhere on the massive screen popped into equal sharpness, and now I'm 100 percent tickled with this unit and can recommend it to others. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great headphones for the cost
I've used these headphones for many months and like them a lot. I have an MP3 player that needs a boost, as well as my laptop. These headphones provide that volume increase so I can leave my boostaroo headphone amplifier at home. Noise reduction works when on a plane, near a forced-air fireplace, operating machinery, etc. Battery lasts a long time, headphones work when battery is dead (just no boost/canceling). Comfortable, foldable, has a plane adaptor, carrying bag.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For Everyday Travelers
When I first purchased these headphone I had my douts. But When I got them, They worked great. Sure they dont compare to the bose headphone but if you want a low price noise canceling headphones go with these ones. Dont worry about what others say these head phones are great. They are also very comfortable and have this adapter to work on airplanes. They also fold up small to take them everywhere. They have been around the world with me, I dont leave them behind. On the plane they block out most the noise to make your long or short flight refreshing and confortable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
Incredibly poor treble response. Noise cancellation nearly non-existent. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. Mine are going back.

3-0 out of 5 stars The truth about sound cancellation
First of all this review aplies to all headphones (over-the-head, on or over your ear headphones) that "actively" cancell noise i.e. w/ electronics. They are only made to reduce certain frequencies, talking isn't among them, however, things like airplane roar, computer noises (hisses and such) and reduced. This aplies even to extremely expensive headphones like the Bose Quiet Comfort (250-299 depending on new or old version) which act the same way. This explanation also helps in figuring out a reason why some people report NO cancelling (probably using them w/ wrong frequencies) why some say they're wonderful, most who say that talk about airplane roar being reduced, the thing their meant to do. I hope this clears up some of the mystery about active noise cancellation headphones

1-0 out of 5 stars A disappointing product
I bought these hoping that they would help me work in a room with a TV playing by listening to music. They were totally ineffective. The noise canceling feature was JUST noticeable i.e. there was a barely detectable difference between ON and OFF. But the frequency response was poor - almost no upper register which made listening to music hardly bearable even with TV off. I returned them for credit, ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Uniden TRU8888 cordless phone system offers an attractive bundle of features with room to grow. A 5.8 GHz digital signal offers increased call clarity and security, while the built-in digital answering system and caller ID capabilities ensure that you won't miss important calls.

Housed in a sleek, modern-looking silver and black case, the single-line TRU8888 is ideal for small offices or busy households. It offers an impressive memory capacity shared between it's caller ID log and programmable memory dialing--100 names and numbers in the handset and 100 more in the base unit. You can (thankfully) search for numbers using a alphabetic search tool similar to those found on most cell phones, and the most commonly dialed numbers can be assigned to one of the 10 programmable speed dial locations accessed on the base unit. Saved numbers can be transferred among handsets.

The TRU8888 features a traditional corded handset on the base unit and one cordless handset to get you started. The system requires just one phone jack for operation, no matter how many optional handsets (Uniden model #TCX800) you add--simply plug the base unit into a phone jack, and the additional handset will configure themselves to talk directly with the base unit. A total of ten handsets can be supported, including the corded one on the base.

The TRU8888 base unit houses a digital answering system with remote operation. It has the somewhat unusual ability to record phone conversations, so beware of restrictions in your jurisdiction. Additional features include a full four-line LCD on the base with message counter, an audible new-message alert tone, and message waiting indicators found on each supplemental handset's charging cradle.

The phone has base and handset speakerphones, conferencing, trilingual menu display options, distinctive ring tones, mute, hold, redial, and headset compatibility (headset sold separately). You can transfer calls between handsets, use the handsets as walkie-talkies, and even use them as an intercom around the house or as a room monitoring system (baby monitor).

5-0 out of 5 stars Very impressive speeds and handling.
I can't say enough how much Linksys rocks. They are definitely giving 3Com a run for their money. They manage to make excellent quality, well-documented networking products and keep the prices incredibly low.

This switch was a breeze to setup -- plug it in and go. The manual is very detailed and even covers general ethernet cabling types, length limitations, and different ways of chaining other hubs and switches together. Although this is an unmanaged switch, the front LEDs each serve two purposes, unblinking means one thing, blinking means another (the manual makes this very easy to understand).

It's surprisingly small (about the size of a external zip drive -- the picture is kind of deceiving). It's attractive, doesn't take up hardly any desk space. This switch is definitely a winner in my book, and I'll never regret this purchase!

4-0 out of 5 stars Much better!
I can see the difference after going to the Linksys switch over my previous 3com 100Mb hub. Transfer rates doudbled when network utilization is high overall. All systems run fine at 100Mb full duplex and that's with 3com and intel network cards.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cisco to the rescue
Cisco bought Linksys a while back -- smart move! Can't get any easier -- works great, while it is smaller than the Linksys router, it still sits nicely on top, although feet pattern does not match.

4-0 out of 5 stars Watch out for size difference
I bought this switch because I trust the brand and also because I thought it would stack well with my Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router (which I've run out of ports on). However, when I received the EZXS88W, it was smaller than in the technical description given by Amazon (which is actually the size of the box, not the switch itself). Because it is about an inch and a quarter narrower than my Linksys router, it does not sit nicely on top or underneath. I know that it's only a small complaint (otherwise the switch is terrific), but I just wanted to let potential buyers know about the possible size difference, especially if one is buying it specifically because it will interface nicely with a previous Linksys purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Flawless switch in continuous use for 2 years
I have two of these switches in my network, never turned off connected to Compaq servers.

Not one issue. I see why Cisco purchased this company. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Palm’s Zire brand is designed primarily for consumers rather than for professionals. The first Zire was a low cost, entry level machine, this one, the second in the range, is a multimedia extravaganza. The most eye catching feature of the Zire 71, after you’ve noticed the sleek rounded blue casing for the hardware, is the built-in digital camera.
The Zire 71's built-in digital camera
You need to slide the upper and lower body apart to reveal it, and when you do so the Zire 71’s screen automatically turns into a viewfinder. Click the button that is also revealed during the sliding process, and you can take pictures, at resolutions of 160 x 120, 320 x 240 and 640 x 480.

Palm has even produced a new version of Palm Desktop to help you make the most of managing digital images. This includes a nice viewer and some editing tools. Palm Desktop also, incidentally, has a new installer which is more efficient than before when it comes to selecting multiple applications to send to your Palm. The Zire 71 runs version 5 of the Palm operating system, which has improved sound features. Install the provided copy of the Real One player and you can play MP3 music through headphones. Gaming is assisted by a joystick style navigation button that sits beneath the screen. But when you want to use the Zire 71 for more traditional personal information management tasks you can tap the application shortcut buttons to launch Date Book, Address Book or Note Pad. The fourth button takes you to your digital photo library. As usual these buttons can be reallocated to other applications if you like.

Only 13MB of to the 16MB of memory on board is actually available for applications and data, but an SD card slot means you can add to this easily. The screen is a superb transreflective TFT type – it is the best we’ve seen on a PDA from Palm. The Universal Connector means existing peripherals like keyboards which support this should work without problems with the Zire 71. The Zire 71 is a great multimedia PDA which finally puts Palm in a position to rival Sony for its Multimedia crown. --Sandra Vogel ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing handheld at a great price
I've been using handhelds/PDAs for many years, and I've been a Palm OS user for the last 3 years. When my aging Handspring Visor recently started giving me troubles, I began to casually look around for a decent upgrade. A review of the Zire 71 in MacAddict caught my eye, and a couple of days later I went and bought one. To say the least, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

The Zire 71 has a beautiful display, which is very crisp and vibrant indoors. The color is a bit washed out when outdoors in bright sunlight, but it is still quite usable. Multimedia playback works nicely on the Zire, although movies don't play quite as smoothly as I would like. The need to purchase a memory card just to store MP3s is also a bit of a bummer. But then again, the device only comes with 16MB of RAM as it is, so you'd probably end up buying a memory card at some point anyway.

The Zire 71's camera takes good pictures, and is very handy for those moments when you don't have a regular camera with you. Granted, the photos are 640x480, there's no flash, no zoom, etc. This is obviously not going to replace a dedicated digital or film camera for serious picture taking. But sometimes you spontaneously need to take a picture or two, and if you carry your handheld with you everywhere (as I do), the Zire's built in camera will no doubt prove useful.

My only real complaint about the Zire is the little navigational stick. I like the stick itself, but the fact that pressing it turns on the handheld (to display the time) is troublesome. The included case is a tight fit, and it would always press the nav stick when I was putting the Zire inside. The last thing I need to worry about is bumping the stick while the handheld is in my pocket, and thus wasting battery power. Fortunately, there is a solution: a program called "Disable Buttons" that lets you disable the physical buttons when the handheld is off. You can disable the various buttons (date book, contacts, etc) or just the navigation stick if you want. Search for it on Google or PalmGear.com (it's freeware).

To sum up: The Zire 71 is a very capable little machine. It's certainly enough to organize the contacts and data in your life, and the multimedia capabilities are a nice touch. Definitely a worthy successor to my ol' Visor. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Palm ever!
I have owned a Palm V, a Sony Clie 760C, and a Handspring Visor Deluxe. I also currently own a Dell Axim which is good but my Zire 71 is my main PDA. I carry it with me all of the time. If you see the screen on it, how it seems like it's right up against the glass it has the best LCD that I have ever seen. The screen is also very bright. I set the brightness almost all the way down because it's so bright. On the dark it can light up a . room. The camera is good for quick pictures. It's not for high quality picture taking. Battery life is pretty good. It also let's you play Mp3's. I bought a 64MB SD card and installed real player for palm. Then I used the quick install software to download mp3 files to it. I was amazed at how great it sounded. I recommend this palm 100%. Palm will have a hard time trying to out do this Zire.

4-0 out of 5 stars PalmOne gets cheap.
OK, the people that designed this baby, should be fired, or given a crash course on not getting cheap with a product of this price.

I love this little baby; mp3, buttons, video fx, pictures (fair at best,). But, I have my distaste for certain things which may sound trivial, but are important to many of us.

1-Can't Palm supply this expensive device with a quality belt carrying case? I paid 20 bucks for mine at Staples, and the button is starting to become loose. A 4 dollar product for Palm, if they decided to buy them and including them with the product. Instead, they give you this piece of crap cover, which is the most impractical case you can see.

2-The blue paint on the side, peels like a banana. What the hell is that made of?

3-The power on button is awkward, somtimes turning on when the case touches it out of random motion. Couldn't have placed it on the bottom of the unit?

Apart from the aforementioned, the unit is pretty good. But why would Palm get so cheap, and not address these petty problems which could of been rectified with some practical designers?

Next time I buy a PDA, I will do my homework, and see if the competition can offer a solution to these petty problems.

Otherwise, I'm somewhat satisfied. I hope not to encounter the battery life nightmares that some people have. Not able to replace the battery, is like spending $$$ on a car, and not being able to replace its battery. Makes you wonder if Palm wants you to replace them every year.

Disposable Palm is what the message is conveying.

4-0 out of 5 stars sync conflict
I have a Lexmark printer that has a card reader built into it. Problem: When I have the printer hooked up it won't let me sync it keeps saying "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED". So, I just pull my printer out of the USB port, and press the hotsync button and it works fine. That is the only problem I have ever had with my Zire71. It's the perfect Palm! The Zire72 is supposed to be better, but why would I trust something that doesn't protect the camera lense as well as the 71? THERE IS NO COVER FOR THE 72 THE LENSE IS ALWAYS EXPOSED! Sure, you lack the extra RAM, but a cheap 128MB SD card does wonders.

2-0 out of 5 stars it keeps breaking!
I got my Zire 71 as a Christmas Gift. I absolutely loved it, however, it malfunctioned in March (a problem with the digitizier). I had barely used it and it stayed on my desk for the most part. Palm sent me a replacement unit because it could not be repaired. In May it malfunctioned the exact same way again! Once again, Palm is sending me a replacement unit.

You do have to be careful with the power button...the battery drains very quickly. The case it comes with tends to turn it on when you slide it in.

I wish I could get a refund...I will never buy another Zire again. I asked Palm for a refund and they told me "a refund is not an option." ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Sound barely audible
I puchased this unit for my 7th grade daughter. The voice speaking the phrases was so soft, especially on the Spanish side, that we figured we got a broken one right out of the box. Franklin customer service promptly sent me a replacement, and I was shocked to see it has exactly the same problem -- even when the volume is turned up full you can barely hear the voice you are supposed to learn from. I called Customer Service again, thinking they must have heard about this problem before, but they said that must just be how the unit works, and they denied having had a lot of complaints about it. If that's true, I'm really surprised. The speaking function is a big disappointment, from the volume standpoint. I can't really comment on the unit otherwise, but I am quite disappointed by this Franklin product.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good source dictionary
After using this device for a year, I did get my money's worth. It is true that the display is sometimes difficult to see in indoor light, but the backlight does work well. The voice is not the most elegant sounding thing I have heard, but it is functional.

What makes this product great is that the dictionary is comprehensive and well written. I find the Spanish verb conjugator extremely useful.

What makes this product bad is its slow speed. If you misspell a word or want to look at the third page of a conjugation list, it can take over 5 seconds to get your results.

The screen is bigger than previous Franklin models, but it is still too small for comfort

I use my Franklin with the Webster Dictionary card. I find it useful having two dictionaries in a small package.

The serial cable that hooks up to a computer is not particularly useful, and seems more like a gimmick to me.

The product is a lot faster and more convenient that a hard copy dictionary, but it still needs a lot of improvement to fulfill its digital potential.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm Satisfied
I've used this dictionary for a couple of weeks and it suits my needs just fine. It's certainly not without some faults but overall it does okay. The pronunciation function could be better - some of the spanish words sound as if they have been recorded by someone reading "at speed" - but I don't believe they have led me astray. Where else can I get fairly good portable pronunciation help (carry around a spanish dwarf)?

Screen could be brighter but then the battery life would become a problem. A bit of a bother but it doesn't aggravite me very much. I like the conjugation function particularly well - it helps quite a bit.

All in all I think this device is very good. Don't know when the next version with better pronunciation comes out, but I won't be buying it. This one suits me just fine.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'd buy it again!
I purchased the Franklin BES-1850 Speaking Spanish/English Dictionary over a year ago and have carried it across 3 continents in my briefcase, backpack, or purse -- a lot of wear and tear and it still works great! The dimensions/weight are similar to a lot of printed travel dictionaries, but the BES-1850 carries much, much more content.

As a student of the Spanish language, I have found the BES-1850 to be extremely helpful for quickly looking up translations. Unlike printed dictionaries that require you to know the infinitive version of a verb in order to find it in the dictionary, you can just type in any conjugated verb form and immediately get to the infinitive and its definition. This is extremely helpful when watching Spanish television/movies or when reading books and newspapers in Spanish. If you misspell a word in English or Spanish, the dictionary displays a list of suggested words so that you can pick out the correct spelling. Many word definitions also include a list of idiomatic phrases/expressions that incorporate the word -- very handy and a delightful surprise to me when I first started using the BES-1850. And the dictionary contains an extensive list of words, too. It has been on very rare occasion that the dictionary has not come back with a translation.

As for the pronounciation feature, I must admit that I debated whether to spend the extra $ on this version in order to have this feature. I'm glad I did -- the pronunciations are reasonably accurate. What's especially helpful is to be able to hear where the accents on words are placed. The pronounciation feature is reasonably clear, but not great. I were purchasing an electronic dictionary just to take on a week-long vacation, the extra $ for this feature may not be worth it.

The screen display is definitely readable but the contrast could be improved. The backlight feature is a big help in dark environments. Don't expect the BES-1850 to have the slick features of the new, high-end hand PDA devices that go for $400-$500 - the BES-1850 only costs $100! I do not use the game or address book features of the BES-1850 and cannot comment.

I'm very happy with the BES-1850 and would buy it again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great concept, poor functionality
I love the possibilities an electronic dictionary offers but the mechanics of this one has a lot of problems. The screen does not have enought contrast no matter how you adjust it. If you use the backlight it shuts off, in fact it shuts off on its own all the time. Very frustrating. Whenever it shuts off unexpectedly you also loose all of your preferences (like large type). The voice part is really not worth the extra money. The pronunciations are so digitized it does not help much. It is extremely convenient to have an electronic translator in your pocket, just not this one. ... Read more

The panel by itself is just 2.2 inches thick, so it has a very slim profile no matter where you place it or how you configure it. An anti-glare coating reduces glare and the resulting eye fatigue.

Customizable settings include image adjustments, color controls, and menu language choices; these are accessed through an intuitive onscreen interface. ViewMatch color adjustments let you calibrate your settings to match a number of industry color standards (sRGB, 9300K, 6500K–default, 5400K, RGB). OnView controls also include an OSD lock that prevents accidental changes to your settings once you've adjusted them to your liking.

The ViewSonic VE-710 has it's own internal power supply with hard power switch. It comes with a handy installation CD-ROM that automates the installation process and automatically configures settings for optimized performance. It is backed by a three-year warranty on parts and labor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bright colors
I got this monitor for my office and it is amazing. I used to use a 14 inch screen that my laptop had with it and I have to say, this is an immense improvement. The resolution it handles (1280x1024) is much better than the one my laptop displayed (1024x768).

The colors are bright and sharp and the styling of this monitor is great. Real slim frame and it looks very high tech.

Highly reccomend this item - especially for the price - it is a good buy. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars no documentation, extra functions don't work
First, I must thank the previous reviewer that had to go through the trials and tribulations of talking to the Logitech "help" desk, he got the unacceptable answers I need without my having to use their VRU and wait forever. The Logitech documentation (now there's an oxymoron) is virtually non-existent and covers nothing. The software for this keyboard is not well written at all, it won't function if you have Norton installed and running. This is silly, if you have your PC set up with the proper security and monitors then Logitech should take that into account within their software OR should state in their "documentation" that it is not compatible with Norton. The ITOUCH software aborts everytime I boot the system. I even went out to the Logitech website and downloaded and installed the latest driver without Norton running and it STILL doesn't work correctly, the F keys don't work and when I press the webcam button, it launches Outlook. I'm not even going to try any of the other keys, I'm just going to remove the Logitech software and run it as a normal keyboard. It does have a good feel and that's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. By the way, this is all happening on a PC running XP, it functions perfectly on another PC that's running Windows 2000 PRO.

5-0 out of 5 stars Up-to-date keyboard for up-to-date use!
You want to know what kind of keyboard is that? Read this.
When I unpacked my Elite keyboard I understood that the picture I had looked at before I placed the order didn't give me that feeling you get when it's on the desk in front of you. My God, it's like a spaceship console! Its low-profile hi-tech design is a great match to my mighty brand-new laptop and the optical mouse which comes with the keyboard in a special offer makes it a full great-looking set. However my first thought was: "I'm not gonna use a half of those 50 extra buttons, though they look very cool." But you know what? I do use ALL of them! I assigned functions I needed to them and enjoy all those shortcut keys. "E-mail" key - for my Yahoo mailbox, "Shopping" - for Amazon.com, "Search" - for Google etc. It has also got some Windows XP shortcuts on F1-F12 keys, which are really handy (like "My computer," "My documents," "Save," "Undo" etc.). And there are multimedia controls on the top, as you can see on the picture, but this nice-looking dial wheel turned out to be a stupid thing: you would expect it lets you change the sound level quickly, making a dozen clicks with a single rotating move. But the problem is that for some reason it's got a VERY slow response, so you can make 20 clicks within a second, but the volume will decrease only by one point at a second, so you have to wait for 20 seconds till it comes to the level you need. But the major problem with it is that it memorizes the consecution of the dial moves, so it will take you 2 seconds to rotate it back and forth making a hundred clicks and it will take you forever to wait while each click will take effect and there is NO WAY to stop it. It can drive you really mad. So if you use it you should be very careful. But I do not use it at all thanks to that iNav wheel, which can perform this and many other functions without any problem. I didn't even know about it when I ordered the keyboard and now I can say that it's the best feature Logitech could think of! This iNav is not only good for volume control, but you can also scroll with it like you do with the mouse and do many other things. You can customize its function by just pressing it and choosing what you need from a pop-up menu. Believe me guys, it's cool. Besides, near this iNav wheel, there's a "Back" button which you need so often when surfing the Internet, and a "Go" button which brings you directly to the web address bar. Well, it's not a manual, so you'll figure out all the other buttons yourself. This keyboard is really good to use.
What are the problems with it? Basically, there're none. I can only add that the keys on the keyboard are somewhat smaller than usual, even comparing to my laptop keys and it feels a bit strange in the beginning, but you get used to it. It's also a bit loud, I mean the keys click louder than in the keyboards I used before, but that's not a big deal either. So the only real CON is that volume dial. But as I said - just use iNav instead.
Overall, this keyboard might be a bit expensive, but it's definitely worth it, especially after a [$] rebate for a mouse + keyboard set.
By the way the mouse is great too: nothing extra - just simple, regular ergonomic mouse, VERY accurate and very convenient to use. Works on any usual surface. Not that good on a naked lap or arm, but this is not what you use as a surface that often, really :) And it is also nice-looking: I don't mean only this black and silver casing (the same as the keyboard), but it's got transparent sides and bottom which lets it glow with red! Ahh..! I like it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Sticky keys
No, I'm not talking about honey on the keyboard. I love this keyboard; it's just that I'm extremely disappointed. I love the media player controls, the little scroll wheel on the left, and the quiet keys. With great love, however, comes great disappointment. The Windows start key has started getting stuck in the down position sometimes, leading to some strange behavior when I'm typing. The sad thing is that the keyboard is only 4 or 5 months old. I guess I could return it or something, but it's such a pain. And what would I do without a keyboard for the eternity it takes to get it back?

Luckily, so far I haven't accidentally erased anything because of the sticking, but every once in a while I'll suddenly switch to the desktop (Windows+D) or accidentally activate the windows narrator (whatever the crap that is)

Other than this annoying quirk, this is a great keyboard. But, because of this annoying quirk, I can't really recommend this keyborad. Maybe I got a bum one, but this doesn't inspire confidence in the product for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST KEYBOARD EVER!!!!
I bought this keyboard at Amazon.com for $30 bucks. This keyboard is the best keyboard that I have used so far. The looks of this keyboard is very attractive and it goes with my Logitech MX310, but I am about to get the MX500. All the buttons on there are very useful especially the scroll because sometimes I don't want to reach over to use the mice, so I just simply move my left pinky over and use the scroll. The volume control on the keyboard is very cool because when you turned it down you'll see a line of green bars. One thing that I forgot to mention is that the keys on this keyboard is very very quiet and smooth. If you are in need of a keyboard I would highly recommend this keyboard and the Logitech MX500 if you are looking for a mice.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST keyboard I ever have.
Man I just recieved my keyboard today. I am so stunt by this keyboard. It makes me type faster and the keys are very quiet. Can't really explain how great this keyboard is. Just two words "THE BEST". And Amazon has excellent delivery, if I could I would give them a 5 stars. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

The Zen Micro digital music player from Creative Labs packs an incredible 5 GB of storage capacity into a shell small enough to sit comfortably in your jeans pocket. It also rides nicely in your hand, with a palm-fitting profile and thumb-friendly front-panel controls. It's a bit shorter than an Apple iPod Mini, yet its rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 12 hours of continuous playback--50 percent more than iPod Mini's. The Zen Micro is compatible not merely with MP3s and WAV files, but with WMA as well. Toss in USB 2.0 connectivity and you're looking at one spiffy portable music player.

But playing isn't all the Zen Micro does. You can use it to receive FM radio (with 32 station presets to keep your favorites at the ready), and to record, either from the radio or from live sources such as voice dictation or lectures using the Zen Micro's built-in condenser microphone.

Trimmed in a luminescent blue glow and with easily visible backlit buttons, this stylish red player holds up to 1,250 songs (83 hours) at 128 kbps or 2,500 songs (166 hours) at lower-fidelity 64 kbps (MP3/WMA)--that's a solid week's worth of music listening, never playing the same song twice. Compatibility with Microsoft's WMA compressed-audio format grants access to over 2 million downloadable songs offered promotionally or for sale online.

Perhaps the Zen Micro's coolest attribute is its DJ feature, which will shuffle not only all the songs you've loaded or all the songs in a given album, but also, at your discretion, only the tracks you listen to most, or only those you rarely hear, taking the work out of selecting your favorites or hunting out all the music you're still getting to know.

Zen Micro's rechargeable battery is easy to replace.
For navigation, the device features a vertical, linear touchpad designed to make searching through songs or playlists easy, quick, and fun. The unit's blue, 160 x 104-pixel, electroluminescent LCD shows key functions and song details at a glance, and you can even customize the main menu to keep right at your fingertips the features that matter most to you.

Another of the Zen Micro's handy features is its personal organizer. You'll never forget an important anniversary with the onboard calendar, and it also includes a to-do list and a contacts list, all of which sync seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook (Outlook thus required for use of these features). In addition, the device offers a sleep timer and alarm so you can drift off to sleep to the strains of one playlist and wake to a completely different one.

The Zen Micro's removable battery is easy to swap with another fully charged battery (additional batteries sold separately), extending your listening by a half-day per swap.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too much trouble
I bought this keyboard/mouse for the design, which I think is very nice, I also appreciate that the keyboard is moderately sized since the numeric keyboard can be placed elsewhere (I never use it anyway).
However had I known of all the trouble this product would give me, I would never have bought it. Some of the problems may be driver-related and hopefully solved some time. I think Logitech put this product to market too early, before it was mature. Just take a look at the Logitech Discussion Forum at http://forums.logitech.com/pe/action/forums/defaultview?msgBoardID=10100207.

The problems that I have with this product are:
* I cannot turn on the PC from the keyboard. It used to work but for some reason it stopped. I also cannot enter the BIOS, it seems the PS/2 connection has simply stopped working. Thank god I still have my old 20 $ keyboard.
* The keyboard/mouse regularly disconnects from Bluetooth when logging off, making it necessary to reconnnect and/or reset the mouse and keyboard.
* When logging in, the mouse/keyboard is initialized causing several 1-10 sec. periods where they don't react.

As a result of these problems, my wife is simply not able to use the PC anymore since the manual procedures needed to make it work are just too complex.

The only reason I still hold on to this product is that I hope that updated drivers or Windows SP2 will help solve these problems. Before you buy, take a look at the Logitech Discussion Forum to see if that is the case.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautifully designed, cutting-edge technology that works!
I'm a computer consultant and I just upgraded to a new Dell i8600 laptop. I ordered it with a built-in Bluetooth card, with the idea that I would find a wireless Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with it.

My goal was to be able to move my laptop from desk to couch (or airplane) and easily take my keyboard and mouse with me, without unplugging/replugging a wireless adapter with each move.

I looked at the original Microsoft Bluetooth KB/mouse, but after reading bad reviews on it, kept looking. I was also turned off by the size/shape/bulk of Logitech Cordless MX for BT, and was concerned that I might not find what I wanted.

When I saw the diNovo at CompUSA before Christmas, it was love at first sight. I then found a review that confirmed that it works, along with generally positive threads on the Logitech community site. I took the plunge, and ordered it from Amazon (to beat the high retail store price).

I have used it now for a good month, and still think it is fantastic: the right size and weight keyboard to sit comfortably in my lap (and me on the couch, where I'm typing from now). The mouse and KB both have a quality feel, and do what they do with great precision.

And most importantly, they work with the built-in Bluetooh card on my Dell -- even though I did have to sacrifice the full functionality of the MediaPad (which I really don't need anyway, nor do I use all the fancy buttons on the KB), because I did not install the SetPoint software (could not do this *and* use the built-in BT stack on my 8600).

If you are looking for the best wireless keyboard with the latest technology that money can buy (and are willing to spend it), and your needs are simialr to mine, you too will love this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed... Problems after only 1 week of use...
I am actually using diNovo keyboard to type this review, and it is a bit of a struggle due to malfunctioning spacebar. :(

I did a bit of research on diNovo before buying it. Most online magazines (PCMag, CNet, etc.) highly recommend this product, noting its high price as the only drawback.

I got this keyboard/mouse combo a week ago, and I must say it looks and feels great. Separate keyboard and touchpad save you desk space. Mouse runs all day without a need for recharging.

I didn't experience any connection issues. It was only one time that I had to press the "connect" buttons on BlueTooth hub and mouse to have it re-detected because it stopped functioning all of the sudden.

The initial installation was smooth. I downloaded the latest drivers, got everything connected and everything went well from there... until yesterday.

All of the sudden the space bar (probably the most useable key on any keyboard) started losing response. I had to hit it harder to move the cursor and even then, at times, it would not respond. As I type this, I often have to hit the spacebar 4-5 times in order to make a single space between the words.

Another problem surfaced early this morning. The lower "fast scroll" mouse button would sometimes result in a "locked" fast scroll. This could be a software issue, I am not sure.

One thing is for certain, the assembly quality seems to be on the lower side. I reached this conclusion based not only on personal experience, but by reading other customer reviews and comments. Given the high price of this product, I am extremely disappointed, if not angry. This is probably the most expensive keyboard/mouse combo on the market, and one thing Logitech should have made sure is that it is of solid build quality. The product is produced by a Logitech plant in China, by the way.

As far as support goes, here is the story so far...

I made a big mistake by not saving the original packaging, so I am not sure if I'll be able to exchange it at local store.

I called up Logitech support (you can find their contact information at logitech.com), and had a live person on the line after a short wait. I told them about the problem, and the tech. support rep said that I have to exchange it at local store where I bought the product since it's been less than 90 days since the purchase.
I told him that I didn't keep the original box and that the retail store may have problem with that. He said that they will make an exception and handle the exchange themselves if the retailer won't accept the exchange.

I e-mailed the store where I got diNovo, and, at this point, I am waiting for their reply. I will post a follow-up review and tell how this thing plays out and if the replacement keyboard is any better than the original.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Set Up!!! Where are the Mac drivers?
As a Mac user, this is the keyboard I expected to see come out of Cupertino. Since Apple has decided to not move to a 'more than one button' set-up (at this point it is just ego) I decided to snag one of these guys from Ebay on the cheap. Instantly, I loved it. Five minutes later I was ticked off to find that it does not work with OS X... well it does it you rig it up but th numerical keyboard does not work AT ALL. It is just a really expensive calculator at this point. What really gets me is how simple it would be for Logitech to write a simple driver so that Mac users, who are notoriou for over spending for great design, could use their product. Talk about a swing and a miss... shame on you Logitech. Same.

2-0 out of 5 stars If you don't like notebook keyboard, this one either.
A beautiful product, but not so comfortable. The feeling of keystroke is very similar to gerenal notebook keyboard.

The mediapad is not a good idea for non-western language, you will get ???? for all non-western character. And I get my mediapad RMAed twice (a tedious procedure that I won't mention here). The idea of media center is not as useful, because the software is tightly integrated with MS Media Player, so I can not get any benefit from my iTunes.

If you don't use keyboard often, and need some beautiful gadget on your desktop, I would recommend this. Otherwise, find other robust keyboard. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this card! !!
I bought this card after having lots of problems with a linksys card. I have a dell laptop and I'm running Windows XP Home. The linksys card had poor signal strength and repeatedly dropped signals, even if seated next to the router. This netgear card is phenomenal. The signal hasn't been dropped yet and I have a signal throughout my house (4000 sq. ft.) and outside! Avoid the linksys card and buy netgear! I can't say enough good things about this card. I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars So much better than SMC
I have been using an SMC wireless card for some time now (with XP Pro) and couldn't figure out why the signal was being dropped every 5 or 10 minutes. Incredibly aggrevating! My dad also had an SMC card and XP Pro with his laptop and was having similar problems. It wasn't until I read reviews on Amazon when I was looking for a new card that I realized it wasn't the router or the age of my card (dad had newer), but the compatibility of SMC with XP Pro. I ordered two of the Netgear MA521s for both of us and neither has had any problems since. It takes slightly longer on boot up for the card to recognize that the network is there, but after that, never drops the signal. It has good range, I've been everywhere in our two-story, four-bedroom house and have not had a problem anywhere. I would highly recommend this card, especially to anyone running XP Pro.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Wireless Netgear MA521
At first it will now work on my Compaq Armada 100s 550MHZ AMD K6 (June 2000) 16bit card bus with Win98 (not SE) giving out " NDIS.VXD NTKERN.VXD device loader for this device could not load the device drive {code 2)" error and exclamation mark under device driver. I suspect it to be either the previous PCMCIA LAN Card I used and interfering with this new wireless hardware or the anti-virus program. I have no time to find out. So I reload my laptop with a clean install of Win98SE (SE this time). This time it works and no more code 2 errors. It averages 85% signal strength and 85% link quality thru walls and close doors.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good card but not as good as MA401
I found the MA521 at Staples for $39 with a $20 mail in rebate. I already own an MA401 which I use in my other laptop. I didn't realize these two cards differed until the installation completed and I recognized a difference in the appearence of the config util. I had hoped the 521 would outperform the 401 (not that the 401 is a slouch). The install went very smooth for the 521 as opposed to some minor problems I experienced with the 401. However, my laptop was setting on my desk barely 24 inches from the router and the signal strength of the 521 was in the 82% range with link quality about 10% higher. I was amazed yet totally disappointed! How could ANY wireless device not achieve 100% signal and link when so close to the access point?!? Two rooms away is my other laptop with it's 401. A quick check showed 100% for signal strength and link quality! There must be a big difference in the internals of the 521 and the 401. While the 521 is a nice card for a nice price after rebate, I prefer to have a better performing card and will be exchanging the 521 for a 401 (IF I can find a 401!). If your wireless needs are such that the very best in signal and link is not required, then the 521 would be a nice card to own. It's a great card, just not as good as the 401.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Technical Support
My Netwiking Card all of sudden stopped functioning afer 4 months in use. Reading the literature on web I was able to do basic debugging and found that Networking card is not able to pickup the signal and when could not resolve the issue I called there Tech Support who were not willing to help at all unless I agree to pay them 28$ service fee or agree 2$/minute charge of the call. Guys have you heard of this. My experience with Netgear is not good and would suggest you not waste your quality time and money on poor quality products from NetGear!!! And be carfull of their disgusting technical support ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Small But Powerful
The iPod mini is built from the ground up as a portable device for people with fast-paced lives. It's small and lightweight physical dimensions are perfectly suited to be being placed in a pants or shirt pocket without being a burden.

But don't let its light weight fool you into thinking the iPod mini is a pushover. The 4GB hard drive (3.7 GB actual) can hold about 1,000 songs - enough to last almost three full days. The installed software includes four games; a calendar; a notepad; a contact database; a clock; backlight with timer; an alarm clock; and the abilities to customize the main menu; create playlists; and rate songs. All this is in addition to being able to be used as an external hard drive!

However, the most revolutionary aspect of the iPod mini (aside from it's size and weight) is its control interface. Incorporating the 'Menu', 'Pause/Play', 'Forward' and 'Back' buttons directly to the touch sensitive scroll wheel not only creates simplicity from a design standpoint, but form a user one as well. Accessing these controls is a breeze. Thankfully the touch wheel is designed well enough that accidental pressing of a control is unlikely to occur since you have to press down a bit to activate the button. I'd actually like to see the entire iPod line adopt this interface.

Some people complain that the iPod mini is only slightly cheaper than the 20 GB iPod and offers a lot less storage space. But what you loose in storage space you gain in portability. It is also important to consider that compared to other players of its size and weight, the iPod mini offers much more storage space, many more features, and a better music jukebox in iTunes 4.0.

I want to carry the most music I can in the smallest possible device that offers the best interface and features. For me, that device is unquestionably the iPod mini. If you have similar demands of a portable music device, the iPod mini is sure to become a permanent accessory to your lifestyle.

4-0 out of 5 stars SO CuTE
The funny thing is some people waited for over 3 months to get their mini ipod's, 5 days before christmas my mom went to target to get started on her christmas shopping, and she got the last blue one! The mini ipod is the cuttest thing i have ever gotten in my life, and one of the best gifts! my sister who has a dell music player and for the same price got 9,000 songs laughed at me! grated dell has a better deal, but who really needs 9,000 songs? the mini ipod is light weight so when i go running or i am working out i can't even feel it. although the battery life isn't what it says to be the ipod is still wonderful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
I got my pink ipod mini about a week ago as sort of a pre-Christmas present. Anyway I love it. With the itunes cards which target also sells it is really easy to download music. I would like to suggest that anyone who does get a ipod mini should get an ipod dock, not a mini ipod dock. The mini ipod's are not plastic on the outside like the regular ipods. The ipod mini's have a brushed metal outer case and if you use the ipod mini with the ipod mini dock, your beautiful new ipod will get all scratched up on the front. I hope this helps anyone thinking of buying one of the ipods or mini ipods.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mini Ipod..definately worth it.
When I first saw the mini Ipods i feel in love with the different colors. I decided to ask for one for my birthday, I got it. I have fallen in love with it. At first I wanted a regular Ipod, but the regular ones hold a TON of music, and since I get bored with songs easily, having a smaller one would make more sense considering my CD collection is quite small since I usually just listen to music on the computer. And when you think about, 1,000 songs.. that is A LOT of songs. You can also just delete the songs you don't want anymore and put new ones on it.

I must say me being a 14-year old girl and being absolutely obsessed with the color pink also persuaded me in asking for a pink mini Ipod. White is just boring.. to me that is. This review probably isn't very helpful, but mini Ipod all the way. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Dunno about the analog stick yet, but...
The directional pad simply sucks. I've only had it for a day, and despite the overally comfort and setup ease of this controller, the directional pad is another one of those "nearly impossible to just hold up without going diagonal as well" pads. You push up, and 95% of the time you will either be going up+right or up+left, and ditto for all other directions, down, left or right.... its the most frustrating thing in the world, ever try playing a game like Silent Hill on one of these controllers? Its a nightmare (no pun intended)

2-0 out of 5 stars What a piece of junk!
This controller doesn't stay calibrated for longer than a few seconds before going kaput, and the digital controls don't work for anything requiring holding them or rapid action.

2-0 out of 5 stars I paid $18 for this?
This is the only computer USB game controller I have seen at Wal-Mart, so, since I enjoy using them for multiplayer games, I bought two. One worked fine for a while, but now the left stick doesn't work, the other one didn't work from the second I removed it from it's packaging. The left stick won't register down, and there's no way to calibrate it. Don't buy this product!

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this!
Don't buy it. If people will stop buying this gamepad then Logitech will start taking customers' feedback seriously.
This gamepad is a waste of money. The Internet is full of complains about this pad, all with same problems. We are not fools, we have been robbed, period. Yes, there maybe be 2 people that were happy with it, but there are thousands that only wasted their money. If you want to take the chance and try to be one of those 2-3 lucky people, then buy it. My suggestion is to not buy anything else from Logitech anymore. Not only they robbed me, they didn't even pay attention to my complains.
Not 2, but a THOUSAND of thumbs down!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Great controls that don't last long
When I first bought the Logitech Dual Analog game pad the controls were the best and it was recommended for EA Sports games. After awhile the game pad would connect and disconnect. Then, the left analog stick would not move to the right and I found my currently controlled player moving on it's own. I bought another one and that one broke too. Too bad the controller doesn't last long. ... Read more
