4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for those with good vision
I've had this monitor for about two months, and I'm very happy with it. I do agree with a warning given to me by a friend, that this type of monitor (flat-panel LCD) leaves the print on the screen looking quite small. I've got good eyesight, and it doesn't bother me, but for those who have any problems reading smaller print, they'd best check it out in a store, carefully, before buying it. The images and print can be adjusted to be bigger, but at the cost of decreased resolution/clarity.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT MONITOR
I agree with previous review. The unit also can be easily adjusted in height, allowing leveling the monitor from touching the desk surface to raising it about 6 inches effortlessly. The visual quality is superb.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Bad to Say
I could not see any difference between this and most monitors. The feature that makes this monitor worth the extra $50-$75 than a generic monitor is the ease and range of the tilting screen. You can adjust the monitor to be perfect if you are standing up, sitting on the ground, or any other position you can think up (keep it clean). This feature comes in handy more than you can expect, and it looks really nice. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All the power, all the features, half the price!
I finally got my Axim X5 from Dell recently and I simply love the thing. It met and surpassed every expectation I had. The price is incredibly low, and there's almost no trade off what so ever from devices twice the price. It's an incredible deal. The size doesn't bother me one bit, and it fits very well in my jacket pocket.

The Dell runs just about anything I can throw at it, and it does it at an incredible speed. Having used only a Jornada 525 previously, I'm amazed at the 400mhz Xscale. Pocket TV plays video so smooth it's plain incredible. Video easily plays 3x faster than my Jornada. Games run fast and smooth, not even a hint of frame skip. The buttons are responsive, easy to use, and support multiple presses at once. This is wonderful, as so many in the past have failed to listen to what gamers really want. Dell listened, and they did it right.

The screen is bright and clear, not a hint of anything less than perfection. Using headphones, the sound is loud and completely static free. It could easily replace my Nomad II MP3 player if need be. Too many people whine about the size... get over it. If you want an ultra thin device, this isn't for you. So simply move on and go whine to someone else. I myself am just fine with the Dell's size, it's price and specs more than make up for it. Anyone willing to pay more to get much less is missing something in my book. Size can be important, sure, but only to a point. The Dell is no bigger than the high end Ipaqs and is in fact much smaller than an Ipaq with a CF sleeve. What more could you possibly ask for.

Basically the Axim will run just about the same as any other 400mhz Xscale out there, which will run just about the same as any 300mhz Xscale out there, both of which will probably run about the same as any 200mhz ARM out there... which all means you're not gonna notice a big difference in anything at all. Some programs will run better than others, it's a case by case thing. The vast majority will run 98% the same.

Now, to really notice a difference you'd have to be doing like me... going from a 133mhz Jornada 525 to a 400mhz Axim. There's a nice speed boost for ya. I've went from 6 fps on Pocket TV to 24 fps. From 2-3 fps on large video with no landscape support, to 18 fps full screen landscape. I'm sure with time and tweaking I'll have that at 24 easily.

See, the big joy of the Axim is what it offers that so many others don't. Dual slots are a wonderful thing to people like me. The screen is lovely. The sound is crisp. They come with a 1yr VERY fast replacement warranty. That's unreal. Incredibly long battery power, longer life ones to come, replaceable battery, spare charging slot, coolest sync cradle ever... the list is huge. Toss in $... worth of free software in the form of the top selling Rosco Picture Viewer and IA Presenter (PowerPoint viwer). All for a price that's half of what the Ipaq owners paid.

I simply love my Axim. I admit, I don't do much mobile computing and I would never make full use of a laptop. I'm simply never far enough away from a desktop computer to need a laptop. The Axim however, fits the need perfect. I've got a small device to store every bit of information I could ever need, and it's completely portable. It doesn't replace a PC, it enhances it. I can do things with my Pocket PC I would have an incredibly hard time doing with even the smallest of notebook computers.

A typical usage of the Pocket PC for me is while waiting in lines, or just waiting in general. I've got several amazingly fun games stored to play, ebooks to read, music to listen to, websites to read (news, weather, tech, stocks), and much more. I also use it to keep track of all my tasks, appointments, assignments, notes, and alarms. The Dell comes with Rosco Picture Viewer, so I store photos of friends and family. (I'm not the type to carry pictures in his wallet) I also carry my entire art gallery. Sometimes I use it to reflect, sometimes to use as reference, sometimes to show. For whatever reasons, it's there when I need it.

Basically Pocket PC's have filled a deep need in my day to day life for mobile information. I always longed for a laptop, but now that I've used Pocket PC's I no longer believe I need one. I love Pocket PC's and the Dell is by far the best one I've owned, and in my opinion, the best deal on the market today without question.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dell Axim X5 400 MHz Beats Competition
I've had several handhelds over the years. First a Palm III, then a Sony Clie, then an HP, and now my Dell Axim. In my experience, the Dell Axim totally blows away the competition. With it's range of features and it's software. The Dual Memory card slots is yet another plus.
The only downside to this otherwise excellent product is the bulkiness. Even though it isn't much larger than the competition, but you can tell the weight difference between my HP and my Dell Axim. The Axim is a couple of ounces heavier.

There are some problems I encountered with some of the accessories though. For example, my SanDisk CompactFlash card will not play music. If you want to play MP3s on your Axim, I recommend a Lexar SecureDigital card. A 128 Megabyte card will hold about 25 songs. (I do not recommend downloading music, doing so could bring serious legal charges or fines against you. Buy the CD, then use a program to rip a track, then copy it to your Dell Axim.)

That's about it! To put it in short, my Dell Axim does everything I need it to do, and I'm sure it will live up to your expectations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best pocket PC for the price
This is a great pocket PC. I am not a hard core techie like my husband and I find it easy to use. It synches with outlook, which was key for me. Also, there is plenty of good software to download for it. I like Avant-go and e-wallet. The buttons are programmable so you can use your downloaded software with ease. For example, my home button now simply brings me the news. I do reccommend getting more memory if you want to store photos or video clips, etc...

2-0 out of 5 stars Buggy
The Axim has a bug that even Dell customer support will grudgingly confirm. Sometimes the unit will stay on after you power it off and slowly drain down the battery. After a few times of this, the reserve battery drains as well, and POOF! no more data.

happens to me on my Axim. No software fix yet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Dell
The Handheld worked well while I had it on the charger (not the cradle) every day but I have had numerous problems with battery life. The back-up batteries have also run down rapidly and I am really sick of having to re-enter my data. Also the cradle charger doesn't work! I wrote to Dell Australia via their web site but have had no response, and I was out of warranty when these problems started appearing. I would recommend you consider a more well-established brand over the Axim. ... Read more

Advanced users may find the calculator's functions a little dated. Itincludes the ACRS table for calculating depreciation applied to limitedpartnership assets, which was replaced by Modified ACRS (MACRS) in 1986.But many users will find that the extensive functions and programmabilitycompensate for this shortcoming. We especially appreciated the time anddata management functions like the alarm clock, calendar, appointments, anddate arithmetic, number lists, editing, sorting, and storing.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best calculator I've ever used.
I really love my HP Business Consultant - even though I don't use half of the features that it offers. What I like the best: 1) shows you the results of your last three calculations - a real timesaver when you're doing comparisons; 2) remembers your last calculations even after you turn it off; 3) great rolodex feature that I use a lot; 4) a great travel alarm clock; 5) lot of functions available with a minimum of keystrokes; 6) easy to read display; 7) solid construction. The calculator is a bit bulky and is heavier than other calculators, but it helps me so much, it is worth it. I use it at work a lot instead of the calculators and adding machines provided, it is so much superior. Mine lasted for10 trouble-free years. Some of the keys are just starting to malfuntion, and I will replace it with the same model. Not too many electronic items that haven't been improved in 10 years - this is a very useful classic!

3-0 out of 5 stars OK calculator that sorely needs an update
I was surprised at how OLD this thing is - the manual is from the early eighties, and that's the kind of technology you get. For example, it has the ACRS table (depreciation for tax purposes) in it's memory, yet that was replaced years ago by Modified ACRS (or MACRS), so that calculator's function is obsolete and therefore useless. I did just as well, even better, with a "cheap" yet functional TI BA-35 Solar for things like quick TVM calculations. And if you're going to spend over $100 on a calculator, why not buy a decent graphing calculator? Things like histograms with this 19BII are a total joke compared to them. I really wish that HP would make a 19BIII model. They could give this thing some REAL statistical graphing capability, make a higher resolution graphing display, update the functions, give it an algebraic entry option, replace the ACRS with MACRS, etc. Until then, I'll be using my graphing calculator.

5-0 out of 5 stars Business and Studies
Well, if you are serious about having a calculator that does it all and you are willing to invest the time in learning how to use it, then the HP19B II is for you. The calculator was way ahead of its time when it was introduced in the 1990's, and still has plenty of intricacies that many do not possess today. First, there is the ability to switch to any foreing language, decimal notation and most importantly the programming feature. This feature allows you to construct your own formulas, regardless of the type of business you are currently using such formulas. In addition, graphics can help in seeing your computation, although the screen is a bit too small, yet the point is to graph your computation to give you an understanding and guidance. Second, you can make appointments, reminders and a contact lists in the memory, however you must be very compact with it. Thirdly is the feature that allows you to write text!! While studying, I found this very helpful in remembering definitions and terms. Finally, the HP19BII even has an intra signal to send data to a HP printer, but such printers are hard to find and the printed results vary in quality. Make no mistake, this calculator is for the serious and in depth professional whether in statistics, finance and math. If you are a beginner, then my suggestion is try the Texas Instrument TI BAII Plus. It has many of the same featureas of the HP19B II at a fraction of the price and can stand on its own for many finance, statistic and other mathematical functions, but lack the foreign currency conversion, text, appointment reminders and programming features. On the other hand, if you really want a calculator to last you for more than 10yrs and make it an everyday companion, then the HP19B II is it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Irreplaceable for finance professionals
Just have to log my support for this great calculator, similar to others I bought an HP 19B in the beginning of my college years (1984) along with all the related add'l manuals available at the time (marketing, banking, real estate,?) and have loved and used it ever since - despite religious use of Palm devices since their inception. Yes my battery cover broke also, but high tensile clear tape quickly remedied that. Unfortunately a mishap damaged the keypad functionality requiring a replacement. I'm estatic to be able to replace it so easily! May buy two to make sure there's always a backup.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good, but too big, too fragile
I do own one of these but for serious day-by-day calculation at work I prefer the 12C, it is much more easy to use and much more robust. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Faster processor in the user-reliable bargain-priced iMac G5
Apple is, quite simply, the best and most innovative computer manufacturer. A recent article in Consumer Reports identified Apple computers as the most reliable computers and PC Magazine user surveys have reached the same conclusion. Furthermore, PC Magazine regularly designates the iMac G5 as the best all around desktop computer. Now the ultra-reliable, user friendly iMac G5 computers all have faster G5 processors than last year's models.

Yes, most people use Windows-based PCs, but do you really want to be just another member of the PC herd -- with all of the problems and frustrations presented by Windows-based PCs (including regular virus attacks) -- or are you looking for a computer which is user friendly, seldom crashes, and is virtually impervious to viruses? If these virtues are more important to you than being one of the crowd, please seriously consider buying an Apple computer. This new iMac G5 is Apple's latest and fastest iteration of the innovative iMac series of compact, user friendly computers at reasonable prices. Like all G5-powered Apple computers this new iMac is a very fast computer -- more than twice as fast as a Pentium 4 with the same clock speed -- and has a state-of-the-art 64-bit processor. All computers will have 64-bit processors some day but very few PCs, except for Apple G5s, have them at this time. If you're looking for a fast, versatile, easy to use computer, want to stop worrying abut virus attacks, and are willing to try something off the beaten path, you'll love this elegant and now faster new iMac G5. If you want a larger monitor and even faster processor check out the 20" iMac G5. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars easy home security type camera
I wanted to get a camera for the house that I could check while on the road travelling for work. The Toshiba camera featured a low light level so I can type in my camera webpage address and see the front of the house at night in lower light levels. The camera works wirelessly from my linksys wireless B/G router. All I needed to do was plug the camera into power outlet which was in the garage. The power cord is 30+ feet. I found Toshiba updated the temperature specs so it can be used in -4 to 122F temperatures. It was easy to install and the picture quality is great at 1.45 megapixels. The camera also has a rugged housing unlike most cameras priced at the same level. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Panther is a lot better
DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

It is a rip off compared to Panther (10.3)

4-0 out of 5 stars Better choice than current Jaguar
If you want to get some work done erase the forty thousand plus OSX files off your hard drive and install OS 9.2.2. There simply is no reason to let the Unix-Aqua-Next hack job hurt your productivity any more. Sure you won't be able to run a few iSofts, but none of them are complete solutions and all are riddled with oversights and nasty user interfaces.

This software works on all Macs currently sold by Apple. Unfortunately Apple is threatening to release Macs that will not run anything below 10.3. That and the huge Apple price premium should be enough to discourage the few remaining Mac loyalists into jumping ship.

4-0 out of 5 stars A classic, missed system
Ahh... Mac OS 9 brings Mac users back to the days of the classic interface - in days before aqua. This OS is, in my opinion, possibly the best that Apple ever did except in stability.

Mac OS X resembles the classic ideas of Macintosh Operating system. However, it does not have the same overall feel. OS X is not as "snappy" as Mac OS 9, especially on G3 computers. Nine is much more easily customizable in looks than OS X. I'm sorry, but the aqua interface is not very pleasing to me.

Now for you older users. I would definitely suggest this as an upgrade to OS 8 both functionality and compatibility.

Overall, Mac OS 9 is a great system to have around. Even if you are all-out OS X but have used "classic" operating systems, keep OS 9 around because it sometimes feels good to come home to this wonderful interface.

4-0 out of 5 stars Functional "Classic Mac OS"
Yes, yes, I know that Apple and Steve Jobs want everyone to focus on OS X as the way of the future. But if you have hardware and/or software that won't do OS X, or if you just prefer to do your updating incrementally, OS 9 is not a bad place to be at all.

Finding OS 9 for sale these days is a bit tricky, though, so I was quite pleased to find it here on Amazon -- good luck finding it listed on, say, the Apple Store!

So if you're running, say, an older G3 model on version 8 of the OS, and don't want to (or can't) take the OS X plunge yet, I suggest that you grab a copy of OS 9. It's quite a bit more stable and functional than its predecessors.

4-0 out of 5 stars 9.1 best of all 9's
MacOS 9.1 installed without any problems for me on a Rev A iMac with numerous USB devices attached. Overall it is a great upgrade. There is still an issue with Multiple User's and Appearance preferences, but Mac OS X should eliminate that. It's even a little faster than 9.0.4. What a concept! An upgrade that actually makes things faster rather than slower. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a GREAT product! Made me switch to PocketPC
I was nervous about switching over to PocketPC from palm, and that I would lose my information, programs, capabilities... But boy was I wrong! The transition was as easy as pie!

This unit blows away the competition with features.

Of course it has WiFi and Bluetooth, is fully multimedia compatible. What really blew me away was the amount of software that it came with. While Palm boasts a large software library, it is also expensive to buy. Palm comes with the bare minimums installed - to sync with outlook you have to purchase software, for example. This PDA acts exactly like your Windows Based PC. It really is foolproof.

The store that I tested this out in had wireless internet running through it. This device was FAST, and had no problems connecting to every website that I tested it out on.

I have not been able to find a more comfortable PDA device with more features, or a better value than this one! If you're in the market for a new PDA, I'd buy this if I were you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Travelling with child for 8 days
Personally I think this unit is great. Some features were very important as I have a very precocious 2 1/2 year old. The sound quality and picture were great. Yes, if look at it from the side the image is dark. This is pretty standard with LCD displays. Importantly, the buttons on the unit are integrated into the top cover. This is also the same with the remote. Sticky fingers, food and minor splashes can be cleaned up very easily. The picture is very crisp. The bottom has very sticky rubber dots which kept the unit in place while my son was moving his tray on the plane up and down. We very easily plugged the unit in the audio/video RCA connections on the TV at the hotel. It worked flawlessly. The remote is as thin as two credit cards, very easily stowed. I used the unit to watch my own movies with headphones and found the experience enjoyable. All in all I would highly recommend this to any parent who wants a great unit for the money.

3-0 out of 5 stars World Traveler
I bought the unit a few days ago
it has all the features i wanted as a traveler (voltage/connection options)
and i looked at every damn model made
car adapter a plus (bought seperately this is expensive)
Image is pretty good for a few people to watch even at an angle
sound quality is really good (has several preset environments)
and player noise is only an issue during disk load
it DOES FF and RW (not just change chapters)by holding the button on the player OR on the remote which is not commom on other units, plus an A/B button on the remote to create a customized repeat area anywhere during the movie (to replay those cool scenes of youre choice over and over)
ONLY BAD PART IS:
i am experiencing problems with the disk starting over if the cord is bumped or unit is picked up during play
i will swap it in (for the same) and post if the replacement does the same
this is the only reason i did not go with 5 stars

3-0 out of 5 stars Small Flaws Limit Stars
We bought this for a long driving trip, and found that the car charger was not really long enough to power the unit while it is attached to the back of the front seat. We drive a Subaru Outback, so minivans and larger SUV's seem likely to have such problems. In addition, the plug often came out of the cigarette lighter.
We have also found the unit tempermental in which discs it plays - it doesn't want to play the Lion King, for example, only the previews!

4-0 out of 5 stars Quality Brand-Good for money
I picked this dvd player up at a best buy about a week ago, and I have to say i was somewhat impressed with it.
First lets discuss the screen. This screen is very high quality for the money you pay because Toshiba has made laptops for many years and has experience im making lcd screens like this one. The picture quality is very sharp and can be fine tuned to your taste.
Next are the speakers. Many people conclude that these speakers are very low quality and too quite to use. While i would not deem them worthless, i would agree that they are very quiet and have no bass. But again there is a reason for this. Portable dvd players are made to be just that-portable. For something to be portable, it has to be small and for something to be small, it has to have small components. The reason for lack of sound quality and volume is that these speakers are small to make the dvd player small nand portable. As for me, this is not a problem as my family in the car would not appreciate hearing my movies and i would be using headphones anyway.
The dvd player itself seems to be very dependable, although it is somewhat noisy (again, headphones would keep this from being a problem too you as they would cover up the noise). Also, you have to make sure the disc as all the way on the spindle, as sometimes only two of the three push-pin thingys are holding the disc in place and it pops out when you start up the dvd player.
From what i've seen, the battery is compitant, although it is hard to review that because i have not actually used it for all three hours and timed it and i have only charged it once. Also, this player comes with all the cables you would need to hook it up to a tv/vcr or to get power too it. The remote is comveniantly small and has all the controls you would need, save the volume control because that is a little wheel thingy that you turn to adjust the volume.
Really the only complaints i have with this dvd player are minor-low sound quality, somewhat noisy spindle, and a few other things. At first i was planning on getting the polaroid but decided this one was worth the extra 50$ or so, and i am glad i made that decision after reading some of the reviews on the polaroid. Toshiba is a much more reliable brand with lots of experience in this type of electronic device.I would definately recoment this dvd player over any of the other ones in its class.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good value for a name brand player
If you're looking for a good 7" portable player for a good price, this is probably the best way to go. The picture quality is nice and the extras (i.e. cables, car adapter) make it a great value. Unfortunately, like other reviewers, I also found the drive to be a little noisy and the speakers are fairly poor (Hint: consider picking up an audio cassette adapter for car-trips).

For travelers, combine with a nice set of noise-canceling headphones and you have a decent little theater for those long flights. I also do recommend the CyberHome CH-ACB 02 case for this model. It's big enough to carry the player, remote, and charger, but small enough to only take up a little room in your carry-on. ... Read more

The BrightView feature provides a 20 percent brighter screen for better definition and 33 percent wider viewing angle for more accurate, off-center viewing when sharing files files. 4-0 out of 5 stars Very good set, might get better with HD components
I bought this TV about two months ago.I did a lot of research on Amazon and other websites like cnet.com to narrow down the best quality-to-cost-efficiency ratio. While at the time this set was still a couple hundred more than I wanted to spend, I notified Amazon of some lower prices I'd found around the Internet and within hours they had matched it (they match the total price because many other sites charged higher shipping and, of course, sales tax, which Amazon does not).I decided to take the plunge, having had three Toshiba TVs in the past and never being disappointed (one of them was a 40" CRT HD-Ready projection that was impressive at the time). The amount of features on this unit were staggering; the most enticing for me were the HDMI connections, the Cable Card slot, and the latest, more sophisticated DLP engine.I also ordered the stand from Amazon (through Crutchfield -- had problems with them shipping the stand expeditiously.I ordered the stand a day after I ordered the TV and the TV arrived over a week earlier and came from further away).

I had some problems with the shipping company. They delayed my shipment several days after the TV arrived in my area to wait for the TV stand I ordered (they were delivering both items). When it finally showed up at my house, there was a huge hole in the side of the box and only one small delivery driver. The driver hauled the TV inside my house, had me inspect that the hole hadn't done any damage, and had me sign some paperwork -- then he was off on his merry way. These televisions are so big that there's quite a lot of box and packaging, which became a nightmare when I had to break it down and send it out on several day's recycling pick-ups the next few days because there was so much (the delivery company, Eagle Global, was supposed to unbox my new TV and haul away the trash, which would have been much easier).I consider myself lucky, though, that the TV works fine because one drawback of ordering from Amazon is that once you sign the paperwork they wash their hands of your purchase unless you've bought into their very expensive warrantee.I dreaded having to schedule service through Toshiba if something had gone awry.

But the unit was easy to set up, easy to install on the stand (a somewhat cheap and flimsy but nice-looking stand).I had it up and running in no time and didn't have much trouble comprehending the manual.

Right now I have DirecTV (blame my girlfriend for that one), and it is a financial investment to get HD service through them (plus you can't use the Cable Card). The contract is almost up, so Adelphia seems like the best way to go there.I did go out and by a Terk HD antenna for my local stations and the picture is amazing (though the rabbit ears over my sleek TV are unseemly). The current DirecTV digital programming looks very poor on this TV.It seems to me that this TV is begging for an HD source. In fact, at first I was very disappointed in the picture even on DVDs played on my progressive scan Panasonic DVD-S47.I didn't see any of the rainbow effect that they warn about, but artifacts are all over the place - especially distracting in dark or busy action sequences. This problem accounts for my subtracting one star from the review -- but from what I have read and understand, a new DVD player with progressive scan upconversion should not only make the picture close to true HD-quality, but also should make those artifacts disappear. If that's the case, then I have nothing but praise for this TV.It's slim, it's light, it's got a beautiful screen, a ton of features (ready for the technology of the next few years at least), and Toshiba has once again proven to be the best bang for my buck.

The is the first review I've ever written about anything I've ever purchased.I thought maybe some people would like to know what to expect when they are ready to invest thousands into entertainment.I based my decision on many factors, and one important one was customer reviews. This set couldn't be much better for what I paid.I think now that it's a matter of setting up other components and inputs for this set to really shine. If the Toshiba SD-5970 DVD player I'm getting today clears up the little glitches in DVD play that I think it will, I wouldn't hesitate giving this television a well thought out 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chase Boston MA.
I waited a long time for Toshiba to produce this high quality TV,and they did not leave anything out in this product"Kudos to them".The picture and sound is stunning and I'am receiving it through a 38 year old antenna install in the attic.Intergrated HDTV is the amazement of the future.I held off the purchase from Amazon in fear of shipping a sensitive product without damage.Let me tell you Amazon has not only the best price but the most professonial movers I ever deal with "Kudos to them".So dont wait let Amazon perform for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great TV
I bought this through Amazon about a month ago. Shipping was very fast and as stated in another reveiw, the truckers brought the tv in, removed it from its packaging, and took the trash with them, it was great. Setup was easy. High definition is absolutely crystal clear, I've never seen a picture like this from a television before. Standard broadcast doesn't come close to the hi-def, but is above par with other tv's. I hooked this tv up with the toshiba sd-5970 dvd with HDMI and could not be more impressed with it. In closing, great tv, great price through amazon, and a great experience getting it.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a picture!!!
I waited for some time before purchasing this TV and my only regret is that I did not buy it sooner. For starters, I ordered it on a Thursday and recieved it the following Tuesday. A full week before I expected it. The delivery company was top notch and not only carried the TV in but removed the trash as well. However none of that compared to three hours later when I finally connected the last wire and turned it on. Picture clarity was as good as any plasma or LCD I have seen. When watching DVD's it's like your looking through a window outside. As for video games the TV even includes a special game mode that increases the framerate for games that have alot going on at once. Cool. The only bummer was the integrated HDTV card. I spent the extra cash for it only to find out that Direct TV dosen't support it. So you may want to check with you HDTV provider before spending the extra money. I would recommend this TV to everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Apple Power Mac Dual 2.7GHz G5
This is the new version of the Power Mac G5. I currently own the G5 with the dual 2.5GHz in it but now I'm willing to upgrade. They have four versions of this Power Mac right now: Single 1.8GHz, Dual 2.0GHz, Dual 2.3GHz, and Dual 2.7GHz. They have lowered the prices too which is nice. For some reason I like to go with the most expensive because if you think about it in the long run I would rather spend money on a exceptional computer with technology not even seen on most computers today and have it for 10 years. AMD and Intel are now making dual core processors but they can't stand up to the G5's dual processor capability. No Windows desktop can even have 8GB of RAM either. Most Windows PCs I see today have up to 4-5GB of RAM. This one had 512MB RAM which I would upgrade to atleast 2GB. 250 GB Hard Drive is good but I would recommend getting a 500GB or 800GB hard drive so you'll know you will always have room to store things. It has DVD+/-RW drive upgraded from the DVD-R drive from the previous model. This is better because now the drive can be rewritable. I love the design of the G5 and I can't wait what Apple will do with the G6 or their next power house PC. It comes with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger which is brand new to the market. It's better than the 10.3 no doubt. I haven't upgraded to it the 10.4 yet but I am soon since I am getting this G5. Everything from this model I have heard about is awesome and I can't wait until I pick mine up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but a tad overpriced
I bought this printer to go with my HP Pavilion ze5200 laptop the summer before heading off to college. I knew that in college, I'd be mobile and on the run, so I was looking for a good quality printer that was small enough to fit in a dorm, but wouldn't crap out on me as I was printing a ten page paper half an hour before it was due.

It's been about nine months since I bought the 450Cbi, and I've had a really good experience. It's small enough to fit compactly on my little dorm-room desk, and every time someone walks into my room they say, "Oh! What a cute printer!" It's small and lightweight enough to throw in my backpack along with my laptop as I go to the library or student center to study, and the fact that it can be battery-powered is just awesome--I can be sitting outside in the middle of the quad, with no outlets in sight, tapping away happily on my laptop with my printer chugging out my papers beside me. The quality is fantastic, both photo and simple black-and-white, and one black ink cartridge lasted me eight months, which is amazing considering all the papers a college student has to type.

For the negative stuff: As other people have said, it has a problem with paper jamming. I've had several times where the paper has jammed, and I've had to work like the devil to un-jam it. However, nothing has broken, and all in all, it's held up beautifully considering how much I put it through, always lugging it from one side of the campus to the other. My infrared printing did suddenly stop working on me for some reason--my laptop will detect the beam and begin to print, but an error will pop up and refuse to print anything that's not a Notepad file. As well, I was also disappointed that though the printer is advertised as being wireless, it doesn't actually come with a Bluetooth card. No matter though, a parallel port cable is short, compact, and has worked perfectly fine for me. I do think that it is a little overpriced--I paid $250 for it--but for me, it's been a great a little printer and I don't regret my choise to buy it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Paper Jambs
I heavily use the HP 450CBi daily. Usually print 75 to 100 pages of Docs per day. Battery life is good. Print quality is good. Print speed is acceptable for a portable. Durability is questionable. I keep it clean and in its own protective case. I am on my THIRD HP450CBi printer in 9 months! Paper jambs, multiple sheets feeding, print carriage movement obstructed. I have tried many different types of paper based on quality, brand, thickness of paper, inkjet, multipurpose, etc. all with similar results. When number 3 gives out I think I go for a cheap disposable desk type model and plug into a 12V/110V power inverter in my vehicle. No Bluetooth as advertised. Forget IR. Just plug in a USB cable. Good Luck!

1-0 out of 5 stars 450 CBi misrepresented by manufacturer.
I purchased a 450 CBi so I could use the Bluetooth technolagy with my HP ipac 2215. The printer is clearly advertised as having Bluetooth connectivity. Upon receiving the printer the information included indicates that a HP Bluetooth printer card is required priced at $97.00. After spending 3 hours on line and on phone I find the item can't be bought. HP's last instructions were to search on google for it. I did only to find only one reseller listing the item. They were out of stock.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what is advertized
I spend a lot of time on the road and I use a lot of different types of printers. The HP is over priced for what you get. Keeping in mind you can buy a pretty nice printer for $300 today. It is much slower that advertized at 9 PPM black. It is more like 1 minute per page. That is with 30% text on a page. This is NOT good. The duplex printing requires one to manually flip the pages over. What is up with that? Print quality is good. Portability is OK, but not as nice as the Cannon i70. Ink cartridge size is good, but expensive. Infrared printing is glitchy. Quality and syle is OK. Unfortunately when a company tags a printer as a portable then the price goes up by a multiple of 200%. This is a mediocre printer that is worth about $50.00.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Desktop -- and Portable -- Printer!
The HP 450 cbi is an extremely versatile printer which I use as much in my office as I do on the road! It prints both text and digital photos every bit as sharp as my larger HP Photosmart 7550. It's extremely compact for traveling. And with its dual wireless capabilities (infrared and Bluetooth), I can output to it from my laptops - as well as from my PDA's.

The portable 450 uses HP's new six color ink system which, when printing digital photos, trades out the black cartridge for another three-color unit. The flip-up paper tray feeds well and holds up to forty-five pages. There's a special slot for 4" x 6" paper which makes printing snapshots as easy as making 8" x 10" enlargements. But the kicker for me was HP's claim of a 73 year photo life using HP's Premium Plus photo paper - which was verified in independent testing by PC World magazine in their November, 2002 issue! (Gee, what's not to like?)

The HP 450 has a built-in infrared port on the front (and is the only model in HP's new lineup so equipped). But contrary to what's written, connecting via Bluetooth requires purchasing an optional Bluetooth Compact Flash Card directly from the Anycom.com website, which is then installed via a handy slot in the back.

I use a USB cable to print from my desktop, and very reliable 3Com Bluetooth PC cards to output from my laptops.

I print via infrared from my Sony Clie using Docs To Go and IrPrint (available from iscomplete.org). And I output from my Palm 515 by using a Toshiba Bluetooth SD card - and Docs To Go and BtPrint (also available from iscomplete.org).

Even my daughter, not to be left out, prints directly to the HP 450 (via infrared) using her Palm OS-based Alphasmart Dana word processor, and she loves it!

I've carried the HP 450 with me on several business trips where it's performed flawlessly. I've taken the printer (with its portable battery) to meetings - where it was also a big hit. I've even used the HP 450 - in my garage -- to print labels and identify all of my stuff! The capabilities of this printer are truly amazing!

The HP 450, incidentally, is a much better portable printer than the HP 350 cbi or the Canon BJC-55 I owned previously. The HP 350 was much bulkier and could only accept a single ink jet cartridge (either a 3-color or a black & white unit) at one time. The Canon BJC-55 had extremely small ink tanks; and printing from my Palm (due to very weak print drivers) was rudimentary at best.

If you're in the market for a new printer, be sure and check out the new 450 cbi from HP. It is, without a doubt, one of the most versatile printers ever invented! ... Read more

Amazon Product Description

The Basics
It was just a few years ago that true micro-notebooks were little more than glorified calculators. But times change and Sony's innovative VAIO VGN-T140P/L proves that a three lb. notebook no larger than a traditional pad of paper can indeed deliver adequate power and connectivity for the majority of typical mobile tasks. Differing from the otherwise identical VAIO VGN-T140P/L by virtue of its enhanced operating system (Windows XP Professional rather than Windows XP Home), the VAIO VGN-T140P/L isn't an ideal unit for demanding business and power users or sophisticated 3D gamers. It is, however, perfect for anyone who frequently hauls their notebook with them to remote un-plugged environments and engages in comparatively basic tasks such as word processing, data gathering, finances, contact management and email/Internet sessions. Stunningly portable, extremely battery efficient and more potent than the vast majority of past or present micro-notebooks, the not inexpensive VAIO VGN-T140P/L is a miniature dynamo.

The VAIO VGN-T140P/L features a widescreen display, that is perfect for watching panoramic DVD movies

Processor
At the heart of any computer lies the CPU (or processor), a massive collection of miniature transistors that governs the speed and power of the entire unit. Some of today's notebooks are equipped with high-end CPU's on par with those found in top-of-the-line desktop PCs, while others are quick enough only for basic duties such as word processing, email and the like. The VAIO VGN-T140P/L is equipped with an Intel Pentium M processor, one of three components that comprise Intel's efficient Centrino system (the others being a specialized Intel chipset and integrated wireless support). Centrino-equipped notebooks are generally smaller, easier on the batteries, and more versatile than their non-Centrino counterparts. Rated at 1.1 GHz, this is an entry-level Pentium M and therefore one of the least powerful in the Pentium M roster, though it's quick enough for most typical notebook applications and features an amazing 2 MB of Level 2 cache for extremely fast recovery of recently accessed information.

Memory
Computers typically store information on their hard drive, but they keep frequently and recently accessed data in Random Access Memory (RAM) for faster retrieval. More RAM means more efficient computing, superior multitasking and less strain on your hard drive. The VAIO VGN-T140P/L incorporates 512 MB of RAM, more than enough for most situations.

Video
CPU's are usually so busy doing basic calculations that they need help translating visual output to the viewing screen. This is the duty of the graphics card (or graphics controller). When shopping for a computer, it's good to remember that a video controller with "dedicated" built-in video memory is preferable to one with "shared" video memory wherein the graphics controller borrows a portion of the all-important main system memory. This system's graphics controller is an Intel 855GME with 64 MB of shared video memory. Thusly, the unit shouldn't be counted upon for high-end 3D games or complex 3D animations and graphics, though it will efficiently display 2D and many midlevel 3D applications.

Display
Being a subcompact computer, the VAIO VGN-T140P/L features a smallish 10.6-inch WXGA display. But if size is not its strong suit, visual quality is. Being a widescreen display, it's perfect for watching panoramic DVD movies. Furthermore, it takes advantage of Sony's new XBRITE technology and an impressive 1280 by 768 maximum resolution to deliver detailed, bright, high-contrast images.

XBRITE LCD technology creates a new standard of picture quality inspired by high-definition television.

Hard Disk
The system features a 40 GB hard disk. In a time when some notebooks offer hard drives of 100 GB and more, 40 GB may not seem overly generous. However, in the rarified, miniscule world of ultra-compact notebooks, 40 GB of storage space is indeed a sizable amount. Though you likely won't have enough room for a library of space-gobbling video files, the unit will store a typical number of mobile apps and user-created files and a few tunes too.

Optical Drive
An optical drive is essential in today's computing environment. A "CD-ROM" drive allows you to install CD-based applications and play music CDs. A "CD-RW" drive adds CD "burning", so you can also backup your important files to long-lasting discs and create personalized music CDs. With a DVD-ROM drive you can watch DVD movies.

Audio
The unit is equipped with two miniature stereo speakers, a mini microphone jack and a stereo mini headphone jack.

Keyboard and Controls
You'll control your notebook via an 83-key keyboard and standard electro-static touch pad.

Connectivity and Expansion
The VAIO VGN-T140P/L offers an assortment of ways to keep in touch, including a 56K modem for low-speed dial-up Internet and email access, a 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet port for high-speed wired network and Internet, and an integrated Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (802.11b/g) for cord-free e-communication at home, at the office or on the road via a local public hotspot. Other key amenities include two high-speed USB 2.0 ports for plug and play devices such as external drives and digital cameras, an IEEE 1394 FireWire port (commonly used for quick data uploads from digital camcorders), and a PC Card Slot for one type I or type II card with CardBus support..

Operating System and Software
Sony will preinstall one of today's most advanced operating systems, Microsoft's Windows XP Professional Edition. Other applications include productivity and word processing software and Sony's typically ample array of music, video and digital photo utilities and editing packages.

Dimensions and Weight
Many of today's most powerful notebooks are also the largest, weighing ten or twelve lbs or more and therefore too big and cumbersome for extensive, continuous traveling. These are often referred to as "desktop replacements". On the other extreme are "thin and lights" or "ultra-portables", super-miniaturized units that typically aren't as powerful as their larger brethren but weigh as little as two or three lbs. and will often fit comfortably inside a large purse. The VAIO VGN-T140P/L is exceptionally small and comfortable at a mere 3.1 lbs and just 10.1 by 8.1 by 1.0 - 1.3 inches (depending on configuration).

Power
The unit is equipped with a Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery that delivers up to 5.5 hours (with standard battery) and 6.0 to 11.0 hours (with a large capacity battery). These are exceptional figures in today's notebook world. ... Read more
